You've been making me smile and passioned with the cycling life and keeping me "grounded" now, while war in my country. Boundlessly thankful for your job 🙏
That's great ! I never considered a laser and always thought someone should invent a simple tool to set the saddle, as often I've had it off-center just a bit.
Watching your videos makes me miss my time in Japan. I also used to bike around Fuji City in Shizuoka. It was a time when youtube is not yet around and we are still developing the 1st digital camera with Casio.
Dude, I've been with you since the early days, one of your OG followers. Such great content my man, don't change a thing. Thanks for the tip on the laser "lever". 🤣 Looking forward to the next one!
I have watched your video with my wife and I said that I need this tool for the shifters setup. She rolled with her eyes. I think this is her way of saying “yes” 😬
My hands got super sweaty watching you ride down. With on coming traffic!!!! OCD is a close friend of mine as well. I try not to fight it, and just go with the flow. Excellent video my friend! Stay safe.
I love your videos RoJ, I always look forward to that notification and admiring your rides, bike builds and Japan, but as a contamination OCD sufferer, I don't agree with the casual use of the term in place of perfectionism. But I do admire your attention to detail and high quality of workmanship. Peace ✌️
Great to see someone else who is as meticulous and geeky as I am! I used a laser to set up my new bike by making the bike level and putting the cross in the centre of the bottom bracket, and comparing the handlebar reach and stack height with my old bike
This is me!!! Nearly crashing because something looks 0.0002 deg out of angle😂 Did someone ever alingend their disc brakes calipers 20x times even they where fine?
That lazer idea is gold to me because nothing drives me more crazy than alignment of my bars. However, that other measuring tool would actually be worth less cost wise because I have always been able to achieve the correct positioning of the levers with just a simple ruler.
these tools make perfect sense to me ;-) bonus video was great although the traffic was alarming on a few occasions especially with the slight camera distortion
God bless you my brother in spirit. This is pretty much how I feel about my bike setting. Thank you for putting my feeling Into words so clearly. I hope they cure my OCD as well 👍🙏
Nothing wrong with striving to reach perfection. Just pre-ordered the lever jig thingo. That descent video really made me hope they open up the borders soon. Can’t wait to ride on those roads again.
Had a bike fit a few years ago. The bike fitter used a cross laser to measure my position. Afterwards I went to the nearest hardware store ASAP and got myself one and I haven't looked back. Useful for setting up bikes, for hanging them on the wall, for putting all sorts of things up on the wall, etc etc.
LMFAO! Be it the alignment of my saddle/stem/shifter or the uniformity of my coffee grounds, if it’s off, my body/mind will realize. It’s all about the balance of my universe. Glad to hear someone else has the same, totally healthy, obsession.
I'm actually surprised that you didn't start out with two of these shifters jigs, and use them at the same time for that extra O C D effect haha ;) - Great content as always, thanks!
For at least i know im not alone feeling those saddle is out of line or brifter misalligned even how perfect ive adjusted it. And that laser measure is what i need to find now. Thank you👍🏾👍🏾.
Sunshine is coming out over there it looks like. Important to also mark your measurements in case anything slips post set up. So many people dont mark stuff up and dont notice when it slips down etc.
I use a laser for my alignment purposes. Very effective. Also want to comment on your descending ability, very nice! You should get a motorcycle to get that sensation regardless of incline. I think you would be a great rider!
Although I’ve been using a piece of string on each brake shifter stretched tight and lined up with the bars for decades....the laser is pretty cool. However not impressed by the gauge!...will stick with my bit of string. However is pretty grubby so feel inspired to get a bright new piece of string.
I agree with having your seat and bars as close to perfectly straight as possible, but I'm glad the positioning of my shifters doesn't keep me up at night 😅
the laser level is pretty nice and could be useful with other tasks (non-bike related) as well. as for the shift lever calliper, I tend to use a simple old trusty spirit level and a decent quality tape measure. it will do the job decently well on a budget.
0:50 Don’t want to cause a crisis, but most things you’re obsessing over on this channel are special interest, at best. Part of the pleasure watching it. :-)
Hey mate, loving all the content, thanks for all the recommendations and info, especially for someone like me starting to get right into road cycling. Just wondering about the grates in the roads in Japan, they're obviously not big enough to cause any grief riding over them??
Nope, no problems just don’t brake on them ;) Ps. you definitely don’t need any of the items in this video, epically if you’re just staring out. Have fun!
Those jigs look cool much more accurate than my level technique. What a stupid idea of that motorcycle driver to basically park in the middle of the road.
Thank you, I now have a nice laser. Spend a large part of my day lasering my bike and in the end… changed nothing. The laser confirmed my ocd measuring and remeasuring my bike over the years. Life is good, head is empty and lines are on point and straight. I guess this is how you feel after a weekend at the spa.
every time i watch one of your videos i feel less alone in this world
✊
me, three!
Your videos always make me feel better about my own bike obsessions. I seem healthy in comparison 😝
I couldn't have put it better myself! 😉
I love the acting side of this video :D really, tho, i'm a bit obsessed with chain cleaning and bearings. I have to admit :D
Your humor, zen, tech info, vid technique are so good. Enjoying anything you post. Cheers from Mid-USA.
Cheers mate, appreciate it 🙏
yes
Ευχαριστούμε!
Hey! Hi from Kyiv, Ukraine. That last shot from the video made me to leave a comment 😀
Thanks for the video, the aesthetic of your work is awesome!
Thanks
You've been making me smile and passioned with the cycling life and keeping me "grounded" now, while war in my country. Boundlessly thankful for your job 🙏
Stay safe my friend!
love the intro to the film, as I sit looking at my handlebars & brake levers trying to convince myself they are level and equal ....
I’m definitely convinced on the tools you featured, every time i’m riding, it’s such a weird feeling that your handlebar feels off.
Footage at the end is amazing.
I want you to know that a RoJ upload notification is always a great joy to me. And - as always - the intro justified the anticipation.
Your bonus clips are the best part of your videos 👍
I align my levers and then realise I have one arm longer than the other, but I hear Park tools are coming out with a clavicle adjuster! 😂
Why would you watch it with you wife? she don’t have to know! 🥴
She likes your videos too and as long as I am below your level everything is fine 🤪
Oh my God, love it. Laughing so hard. I was looking for a tool like this for a long time.
I'm probably not going to get either, even though I have OCD for real, but it was brilliant watching the episode and learning that these things exist
Excellent. Everything about this was excellent.
Don’t think anyone with a “crash twisted” aluminum bar would EVER be joining us here in OCD church. Thanks for this amazing video. ha
My hands got super sweaty watching you ride down. With on coming traffic!!!!
OCD is a close friend of mine as well. I try not to fight it, and just go with the flow.
Excellent video my friend!
Stay safe.

Peace ✌️
Please never stop doing these, always such a joy to watch these videos and see that somebody is living the dream
love your contents to be honest I look forward for more. Keep it up mate! two thumbs up!
Wow! that descent was thrilling!
You make me feel normal. I love these videos.
This is so cool to watch, always catch myself smiling throughout your videos. Nice line choice in the descent btw.
This is by far the video of yours I love most. Hilarious. And great to not be alone in my bike-madness.
dude, you make the best cycling vids on youtube and japan, i mean, those descents, killer!
Great to see someone else who is as meticulous and geeky as I am! I used a laser to set up my new bike by making the bike level and putting the cross in the centre of the bottom bracket, and comparing the handlebar reach and stack height with my old bike
This is me!!! Nearly crashing because something looks 0.0002 deg out of angle😂
Did someone ever alingend their disc brakes calipers 20x times even they where fine?
Entertaining as always! 👍
That lazer idea is gold to me because nothing drives me more crazy than alignment of my bars. However, that other measuring tool would actually be worth less cost wise because I have always been able to achieve the correct positioning of the levers with just a simple ruler.
Marvellous decents, but please don’t die! You have so many more videos to produce… ❤️
these tools make perfect sense to me ;-) bonus video was great although the traffic was alarming on a few occasions especially with the slight camera distortion
Awesome......Forever my sen-se~~^^!!
I'm always rooting for you~~
From Korea.....
Oh man, this is such a great video! Thanks for entertaining and inspiring bike nerds around the world ;-)
Oh, the burden of being a perfectionist. You are not alone.
God bless you my brother in spirit. This is pretty much how I feel about my bike setting. Thank you for putting my feeling Into words so clearly. I hope they cure my OCD as well 👍🙏
Loved the form mount you have for your computer on my old bike. Have mine up for sale but no one wants it. Lol
The bonus clip is just... Magical!
You are absolutely crazy, and I love it.
god what a beautiful day. can't wait to get myself back up a big hill!
This Video speacks to my heart in so many ways
Nothing wrong with striving to reach perfection. Just pre-ordered the lever jig thingo.
That descent video really made me hope they open up the borders soon. Can’t wait to ride on those roads again.
I think that near miss with the van just made me a disk brake convert (at least for the next bike!).
Have the same OCD affliction….having the shifters only a few mm’s off is akin to a mosquito in the bedroom.
Had a bike fit a few years ago. The bike fitter used a cross laser to measure my position. Afterwards I went to the nearest hardware store ASAP and got myself one and I haven't looked back. I nearly had a (mental) crash while watching you go down the hill when the white van appeared. I forgot you ride on the left in Japan!
I'm actually surprised that you didn't start out with two of these shifters jigs, and use them at the same time for that extra O C D effect haha ;) - Great content as always, thanks!
Almost became a van hood ornament! Love your humor...keep ‘em coming!
That was a great descent!
This is awesome. Thanks for finding that amazing tool
You fabulous weirdo….
Mind you I was in Sweden last weekend…..you are not alone 😀
OMG THESE VIDEOS ARE SOOO amazing!
Still amazes me that even in traffic you sometimes take a corner on tube wrong side of the road. Fearless! Great videos 👌🏻
“peace” at the end was unexpected to me) greetings from Ukraine:) thank you
For at least i know im not alone feeling those saddle is out of line or brifter misalligned even how perfect ive adjusted it. And that laser measure is what i need to find now. Thank you👍🏾👍🏾.
Thanks for pulling me down the rabbit hole. Now looking for lasers online
You’re welcome 👍🤪
I think that laser level is ingenious, cant wait to try it.
Sunshine is coming out over there it looks like.
Important to also mark your measurements in case anything slips post set up. So many people dont mark stuff up and dont notice when it slips down etc.
You do it accurately to a T. Inspiring. All along I have been doing it wrong.
Wonderful twisties!
Omg that Intro 😂. You and Trace are so funny.
Just came back from training ride....guess what...5min in I was like" hmmm something is wrong here"...looked down..saddle was slightly out of line :X
90 Euros! Your right I don't need one 🤣. A Lazer level on the other hand ... 🤔. As always love your style, passion, and humour.
You are right, I need this. Ordered both.
for sure! I use my laser level for bike adjustments all the time! great videos, thank
This is me with my scopes. My friends think im crazy...its true but my crosshairs are perfect and that does a thing to my heart.
I use a laser for my alignment purposes. Very effective. Also want to comment on your descending ability, very nice! You should get a motorcycle to get that sensation regardless of incline. I think you would be a great rider!

This. Thank you. I feel a brotherhood.
Love your vids! Keep it up, Sir.......!
I agree with having your seat and bars as close to perfectly straight as possible, but I'm glad the positioning of my shifters doesn't keep me up at night 😅
YAY always excited to see a new video from you. Always make me laugh man
You are my spirit rider. 🚴🏻♂️
Lasers are great but it sounds like you need another laser (green maybe) to know that your alignment laser is level 😆
dayum that brake lever alignment tool!
OCD nightmare : change bike tires with white line
they never aline with the rims
We have to pick our battles wisely ;)
That's Brilliant !!
Laser levels are very useful for cyclists. You can also use a laser to tell if your knees are staying straight while pedaling (on the trainer).
Plastic measuring caliper, a level app in my phone, and a stick is what I use
Always inspiring intros. Calming nice video! Bodies famously not symmetrical though, so this as much for aesthetics than function perhaps?😅
the laser level is pretty nice and could be useful with other tasks (non-bike related) as well. as for the shift lever calliper, I tend to use a simple old trusty spirit level and a decent quality tape measure. it will do the job decently well on a budget.

I think he's aware of the what makes it more entertaining but still informative :-)
@@jochenkraus7016 Thanks captain obvious.
Brilliant 👍😂
Sickness on another level .
Oh great. Now I will think my brake levers aren't aligned next time I ride my bike. Even though it felt perfectly fine so far. Thank you
You’re very welcome 👍🥴
(immediately purchased a laser level on amazon 2 minutes into this video)🤣
Hey mate, loving all the content, thanks for all the recommendations and info, especially for someone like me starting to get right into road cycling. Just wondering about the grates in the roads in Japan, they're obviously not big enough to cause any grief riding over them??
Nope, no problems just don’t brake on them ;)
Ps. you definitely don’t need any of the items in this video, epically if you’re just staring out. Have fun!
and here I been riding my 2021 canyon aeroad cfr with handlebar not straight for a year now
Those jigs look cool much more accurate than my level technique.
What a stupid idea of that motorcycle driver to basically park in the middle of the road.
Soooooo good 👍
lol, something I need now but did not knew it existed before.
I lived in Japan for a year in the mid 90's. I have forgotten how narrow the roads are.
You’re welcome! 🤗
I love every video. 🙌👌👍🚲🙏
Oh man I would also set everything perfectly if I had the tools on hand but eyeing it is good enough haha
