    I recently bought some seat clamps ears things from trek as well, to mount my first carbon rail saddle. When I went to the shop I looked at the ears and they also had some different sizes! But when I told the bike shop guy, he told me that it is on purpose, apparently so you can slide the saddle in easier while mounting, and it does look good when mounted on the bike!

    Well really good job done on the whole bike setup, top components, well thought everything....
    *JUST* one thing on the bike that i have to point out.
    The headset solution is outrageous on such a bike, there must be a solution for another cable guidance piece under the stem, maybe you could get one from someone who 3D prints one following exact mesurements but changing the shape. The top edge should be straight and not curved like the original.
    Anyways, always top quality videos from you and great guidance about how to upgrade bikes with well thought ideas, keep on rocking man!

  • @Bikes-guitars
    @Bikes-guitars 3 года назад +1

    It’s a really nice bike, well done getting it down to that weight and nicely built up too.
    This has been my Dilemma with disc brake bikes, it’s so hard to get them down to this weight, in the end I went with a rim brake Bianchi Specialissima as I only weigh 53 kilos so rim brakes stop me no problem, it built up to 6.1 kilos without having to try too hard, just standard Sram red Etap 2x set up, Campagnolo Bora wheels, and that weight includes the pedals, power meter, Garmin mounts and bottle cages, now if I had spent £1100 on THM Carbon brake callipers it would be under 6 🤔, tune qr skewers would take another 50g off 🙈, Lightweight wheels another 200g off, oh this is going to cost me 🤪
    Please keep up the good work with great quality videos.

      The top spacer is taller than it needs to be, didn’t have the correct size, but yeah, I could cut it a few mm more... however the stack of a darimo stem is 47mm ;) #futureproofing

    I'm new to your channel, and I love your videos (and your location). I thought my new carbon fibre bike was light, coming in at around 10.5kg (coming from a 17kg mountain bike lmao). 6.29kg is insane! Do you ever go over the total cost of the bike? I'm curious how much this beautiful machine cost. Thanks!

      Cheers mate!
      Don’t know how much... and I don’t think I want to know hehehe.
      The oldest parts are from 2017 and has been on 4 different bike already, so it’s old stuff that gets used as I build up new bikes. But on parts price alone it would be more expensive than the top complete trek emonda slr SKU... but I don’t really want to think about it 😅

      @@ridesofjapan lmaoo can't say I blame you for not wanting to think about it, but the result is seriously jaw dropping, and the knowledge that you built it yourself! I'd love to do that one day. Enjoy it as much as you can! :D

    Hey Tobias! What can you say about this new stem in terms of stiffness to compared with Kalloy UNO or Extralite stems?

    • @ridesofjapan
      @ridesofjapan  3 года назад +1

      Put a blindfold on me and I can’t tell the difference. Only time I felt difference in cockpit stiffness is going from the t3 superghiaia handlebar to the thm ulna, (thm is stiffer)
      I am a featherweight though.

    I think you can change the grx for something lighter for sure, maybe xtr is lighter or even duraace is able to handle that big cogs

    • @ridesofjapan

      It's the same weight as the XTR (Smaller motor)

    Have you looked at hope rx4 brake calipers already? They seem light

    • @rasmuswi
      @rasmuswi 3 года назад

      And at the moment crazy hard to find online. Or, to be more precise, the color you want always seem to be out of stock, the other colors aren't. In the end I actually got the orange calipers I wanted, but it wasn't easy to find any retailer that had them in stock. Also, considering how much power they have, I expect a lightweight guy like Tobias on a 6.29 kg bike to risk going OTB when braking. :)

    just a question here, with the $$$$ spent could you have bought 2 - 13kg bikes ?
