The RSX is one of the most fun tuner platforms anybody could drive. It has an awesome K-series drivetrain, an interior that has held up very well, and still let's the Integra legacy live on! With the amazing experience of the $36 Toyota Supra I had a couple years ago I've been on the hunt for a similar 3experience. Thankfully my friend Scott agreed to let me take this turbocharged RSX for the rip of my life! So let's spin some tires and go for a fun drive!

I wouldn't say they're slept on as much as the double wishbone Hondas of the 90s are starting to become over hyped

Always loved this car. My very first car was a 03 type s, then a 05 type s, now I have a 04 with a JRSC. I can’t stay away from this chassis 😂

@@DC5Brandon It’s not bad man, it’s very linear and the hit is instant really. My brother had a k20/24 rsx so I got to experience how a 24 was sort of and I wouldn’t mind going that route if needed, but the roots style supercharger is definitely fun!
The rsx deserves way more attention than it gets hella underrated project but as every jdm car it’s gonna go up in value

I’m on my 4th RSX Type S. My favorite one was built K24 turbo at 400+ whp as well. Great vid. Made me super nostalgic and I miss it a lot.
Seems like a lot of RSX owners always come back to their first love haha, ive seen it many times on the forums. Even when my first type s got ran into and totaled out by insurance last year, I looked into buying other cars (mainly 350z or frs) but I couldn't leave the type s platform, loved it too much.
I have a 400whp K24 TYpe S right now with built trans... Been offered 15K for the car... Still wont sell. Ill pass it down to my son.
Nice RSX, I like seeing more modified cars like this with a reserved and mature look to them.
This is how all Dc5's should look.. Only Im not a huge fan of the wheels.. Everything else is wonderful. He even kept the fogs up front and the AC and Power Steering. Im using electric AC from a Prius with relocated lines, and Electric PS as well.

@@smileybear420 CE's a good wheel but that silver looks terrible on a Magnesium Metallic paint. Its super plain and it looks like a cheap wheel from afar. He needs to get them painted.. Maybe a nice gloss gunmetall/titanium.. The Wedssport Tc105x's looks amazing on this color.. A nice darker Titanium color. The SBC RPF1's look decent on the MM as well.

The RSX is my favorite car. It looks amazing, light, blast to drive, nice interior, reliable, amazing potential, and the aftermarket support is incredible. There is nothing not to like

I love mine and I love to see clean ones like this one. Too many clapped out ones out there on the road. People just don't take care of DC5s that much.

I agree it’s hard finding clean ones most are either base models or clapped out type s’s
I bought my 04 in February with only 92,000 miles on the odometer. It's only a base automatic but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love it so much. Best little daily driver ever. Plus I get about 30 mpg on the highway which is better than my previous vehicle which was a 1995 F150 that had the towing package (351w, e4od trans and different rear gears as well as dual gas tanks) it only got about 11 mpg on a good day lol.

Love my 05 type s. Even to this day it offers everything I need. Comfy and stylish interior, stout reliable powerplant, and an exterior that is still beautiful as ever

David you should find a cheap base model Rsx and boost it on a budget. You already have the really clean K integra so i think a boosted K would be amazing

@@dropperknows Right when i turned 16 i bought a fully unmolested 2002 Rsx Type-S for 2,200k. Coming up on a year now and so far im loving it. Mainly have done just Fbo’s and some cosmetic mods to it. Sadly the only thing i wish this car could get is attention. No one really looks at my car and complements it. All the kids at my school with their automatic 350z’s and slammed single cab trucks get so much attention. pretty stupid tbh
@@ox.dc5 lmao facts. Who cares let the boys drive they autos while we bang gears. The cars scene out there appreciates you. My RSX only turns necks when i'm in VTEC. other than that it blends in pretty easy.

@@dropperknows thank you brother 💪🏻 manuals are slowly disappearing in todays society with all these high tech transmissions. all of that is just causing more accidents with everyone texting a driving more. cant really do that when your driving manual. but yeah man its just crazy, shit like that is what people in the car scene are like today. back then if you were a “car enthusiast” and didn’t drive a manual transmission you were a pussy straight up. 💯

I think the RSX meets right in the middle. Very practical and smooth with still being relatively light
I think it's definitely an underrated beginner car. Pretty cheap, practical, great aftermarket, and CAN be fairly sporty and fun to drive. 2600lbs from the factory and comes with a K series motor.

At 11:15 he describes the joy of Honda. I finally bought a 8 gen coupe and man I've been missing out all these years. It just FEELS fast. So fun. I really couldn't care less about street racing (good way to get arrested in Ontario) but whipping down backroads and enjoying VTEC is what it's all about.
I could never figure out why the RSX never made it big. The RSX-S was an overall better than the Integra type R. I've driven both and both of them are great. The Type R is better looking but the S is a better car.

I love how mint that RSX is. The definition of a clean sleeper especially without the typical DC5 spoiler. The interior and exterior is just immaculate.

3:35 Can confirm. My first car was an 02 RSX-S. Such a great learning car and so much fun! Unfortunately mine met an unfortunate end 3 years later and was totaled by a distracted driver :( Scoop one up now while they are relatively affordable!

That RSX is a pinnacle car
2 weeks ago I got a 2005 RSX Type-S for $1650 here in Canada. IT needs some paint and an 02 sensor. Glass is good but for a small crack in windshield after I got it. Interior is ok. It only has about 130,000kms (80,000miles) and shifts well.
I drive the 05 and it has 233k miles on the odometer and it still runs like a champ.
Bought a type S several years ago and I love it more than ever now, I plan on keeping it forever its the ultimate daily driver imo...
for real don't sell it. Got my type s for $5,000 with 62k miles
@@dropperknows wow great deal, mine was 6,000 with 137, 000 miles and by far the best deal in the area I could find...but at least it was a bone stock 1 owner car so it was absolutely worth it!
My friend left his 04 RSX S at my house for a one year trip to Japan. He ended up staying and getting married so he let me just have it for free. Only 86k miles
My son just got his rsx turbo charged picks it up tomorrow. 430hp at the wheels 318 torque . Excited how it's gonna feel. Next year he'll do the fuel return and a 3 inch exhaust and a retune.
I'm on my 4th RSX and lemme tell you.... they are SO UNDER RATED! I currently have a 06 Type S in Jade green. It's by far the best car, and most reliable I have ever owned

David says the DC5 gearbox is pretty good, as I sit over here on my 3rd one with just bolt-ons and a tune on mine.
@@TheRobertChannel Both of the ones that have broken for me have been a mechanical failure of parts inside the trans. First one put a hole in the bottom of the case. The second one completely stripped second gear. Both of which happened after the clutch was released.

@Sideways G If you can stretch, go for the S, although these are hard to find.
@Sideways G ...although base is good if you need the extra cash to go turbo, but these are very expensive to modify compared to the RSX.
@Sideways G Good question. I know the 987.1 and it's variants are port injection. Don't know about 987.2 base. I think all Caymans and Boxsters after 2009 are DI. The DI cars are harder to tune and require valve cleaning after high mileage (more-so if you're using cheap oil). Other than that I think DI is good for some extra power from the factory. From what I hear these can easily do 400-500 HP, like the K motors, but I would assume this is using a well maintained engine with low over-revs and a professional install..
I have a 9th gen si coupe and the rsx kinda looks like the little brother to it so IMO I freakin love the rsx

Mines finished, getting dyno tuned soon! goal is 500
500 is a crap ton on this chassis.. I had to turn mine back down to 400. 500 is starting to get into the realm where the car is incredibly hard to grab traction even with good tires.. If so, I'd run Hondata Traction Control and switch up to the 5-speed, or get longer gears. I hate running super sticky tires on the street too. If its not a daily or a car you will driving on the street much you will be fine... Also 400whp is perfect cuz you can get away with using a mild clutch and keep it very daily-friendly. Im using the full face FX400. Mine made 411whp and 320tq(k24).. Clutch is slightly firm but very driveable and holds the power great.

I drive an 05 Type S. Kfrank engine 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust, rbc, cai, ktuner, motor mount inserts. Stock suspension with polyurethane bushings. Never getting rid of her. I look forward to driving her we very single day.

Bought my first RSX type s in 2017, a second parts car that year and recently got into an 05 type s. I love these cars and any RSX content 😂 also really nice to know they’re rising in value too
Rsx is the nicest most capable budget/affordable Honda atm. Older civic and teggies are becoming so hard to find hence the overpricing.

Back when these were new..my buddies rich dad got him a RSX type S A-spec with Goodyear F1 tires on it , & we took it up and down the Mississippi River in the driftless region (Wisconsin / minnesota) and my ribs actually got sprained and were sore for a week after that ride. I was skinny then , so I got slammed back and forth between those seat bolsters like a pinball!
i have a track-prepped/street rsx that look identical to this one except i still run oem wheels. Wingless and grey is a great combo to be stealth, never had a trouble with the popo and they have a thing for modified cars where i live.
Got 2002 RSX Type S done Na Frankenstein and loving it.
Great now this car going to go up in value 👏

I got mine 2 years ago right when the prices started going up. $6k for an unmolested blaze orange 05 type S with 135k. I'm now 10k into it and not even Turbo'd yet

My Skyline is on Turo, can't figure out why it doesn't get rented out more lol. So is my DC5, apparently nobody wants to drive a manual or Sequential anymore, too much work for the snowflakes.

@@ox.dc5 Yep. It's sad. Even in 2007 when I was a Senior there was only 1 other stick in the lot of 1600 students.
It's a lot easier to eliminate driver error and warranty claims on a DCT or automatic transmission. I really think that's all it comes down to. $$

Depending on how clean your Dc5 is, if you post your sale in the proper forums, you should get a sale no problem. People are looking for super clean models and ones that, if are modded, have the most tasteful mods.
First new car I bought was an RSX. Traded it in for an Evo 9 in 08. Been looking for a decent one last couple years and they are all effed up by hot boi racers.

Picked up a 2005 type S 4 months ago and have no regrets.
Its called torque steer ...not crab walking... crab walking is what something with independent rear steer does...or something with a twisted frame
I had an 06 si with hybrid racing everything and I loved it. This was Honda in its heyday day but sadly now they've lost there way. Hopefully someday they'll come to their senses and make fun cars again...I wouldn't bet on it though.
Love the RSX! Just boosted my 9th gen civic, love how it sounds stock until you get on it.
Back then I never really cared for the RSX as it just didn't appeal to me as much. Though as with a lot of things, when I grew older I began to appreciate it more. This last gen of the RSX is by far my favorite, it doesn't have the bulbus looking taillights and headlights, and looks soo much better and modern. Plus it looks like a certain car from Burnout too.

Just dropped the trans in mine for the second time. Replaced all syncros and did a tsx 6th gear swap. Ran great for 3k miles until 6th gear syncro gave out 😬 sitting in the garage again 😕
When the RSX came out it made the ITR almost absolute and thats coming from a person who drove both stock for stock when it came out. The RSX was a luxury Intergra
