I fare you luck in the front suspension you are about to tackle. You said the exact thing I did when I got my 04 Type S last year, "got some suspension clunks that im going to tackle with coilovers soon" led to me doing a whole front suspension rebuild. Axles, control arms, tie rod ends, coilovers, ball joints, brakes, rotors, wheel hubs, bearings, 😂. It's all worth it though, ever since I did all of that, the car feels amazing.
I second this comment! I had to do similar with my 03 type s recently when installed coilovers. Lowering the car opens up a huge can of worms. I replaced sway bar end links, ball joints, control arms, tie rod ends and I’m waiting on putting steering rack slider piece. I think a quick fix for the clunking in the front may be the front sway bar end links.
Hilarious, I went down this same rabbit hole. Started with lower ball joints, continued with LCAs with bushings, axles, wheel bearings, refreshed coilovers, tie rod ends, rear camber kit, and then finally the PCI tie rod steering kit with the rack slider that I'm getting ready to install now..
I used to have a 04 Type S. I sold it thinking I no longer needed a fun daily..... boy was I wrong..... I miss that car so much. Was always fun to drive, got 30ish mpg, handled decent (comparing to my racecar.... lol) .... I regret selling mine. I hope you enjoy yours and continue to develop it.
I got over 20k into my k24 turbo dc5 with all the performance parts and jdm pieces. I built it from ground up. I love mine, definitely a great platform
Totally agree. Unfortunately Anthony hates retrofits. More likely drop to some cheap HIDs in the stock housings, blinding everyone else, and having awful useful output as well 🤣🤣
Sounds like the VTC actuator more so than the starter. Happens in almost all k series Motors and is usually in cold weather or climates. There is technically no remedy, even if you replace the part, it will eventually come back. It's also an expensive job for the noise just to come back
I’ve heard that even after a new starter that it could come back. I mean, if the intake manifold comes out eventually I’ll do it, but I’m not in any rush unless it straight up dies. Lol
I was gonna say the same thing, VTC actuator is notorious for going bad on K series engines. I had a 2nd gen TSX with a K24 and it would rattle/grind on startup in cold weather. Many have replaced the VTC actuator only to have the same problem happen again, not that big a deal tbh.
Came here to post this. The sound can seem like it would be from the starter but it's typically the VTC actuator "rattle". Happens upon cold start and more often in cold weather as the oil has drained back and it takes that little amount of time to build oil pressure. Not that significant for "California winters" but where you are in the freezing/snow it's probably going to be annoying.
I got a 9th gen si, owner since 2 year and every winter, the rattle sound is heard on some cold mornings on start-up. My friend had the same problem with his 8th gen, he had it for 2-3 years, sold it and the car is still running strong even with the vtc actuator noise
I have a black Type S as well. In the future it awesome to see a video on a suspension setup with coilovers, tie rod, control arm, ball joint, etc explanations
when you get to the cmc, i’d recommend going with the tested recipe of an OEM slave, ss clutch line, and OEM EM2 cmc. it feels significantly better since it doesn’t have the built in delay valve like the dc5 one.
@@ALLDAYANTHONY they use em1. I do not recommend this kit. People see this kit and think it's better but it's just a stupid untrue honda rumor. it is not a 100% perfect fit, you have to use the OEM rod for the CMC and the rod is at a much steeper angle than stock, which causes an extremely annoying clicking feel in the clutch over time. the clutch feel isn't that much better and it's not worth it. OEM is going to be better 99% of the time. If you hate the feel, just get a new OEM CMC and flush the fluid and adjust the pedal.
For $11k I’m jealous. I bought my car which is pretty much identical for $11,800 2.5 years ago and I have done many of the same mods/upgrades plus completely rebuilding/upgrading the trans, clutch and fly wheel. I had some buyers remorse for a while but I’m happy with the car. It is pretty clean and only had 99k miles. Now I’m almost at 125k

I bought a magnesium 2006 RSX type s back in July, bought it before getting my license because I knew that was the car I wanted. It has 200k miles but it was family owned before me, When I asked him to get on it during buying it, he says he doesn’t drive it like that so I’m hoping the engine is extra healthy because of it being babied. My dad also has the same year same model, but his is nighthawk black. Thanks for sharing your RSX journey 20 years after its debut. 🤍
Beside a short ram air intake, I'm leaving mine alone. I agree, these cars are really fun to drive. They're a blast. I'm in the middle of trying to find out why my RPMs are too high when I start it. It takes 4 minutes before idle returns to normal. And when I drive, the RPMs tend to be higher than what they should be. Evidently the previous owner did a tune or something, (I think). Not sure though. Anyway, I enjoyed your 411 on Hidden Springs aka Swingersville. Haha! Nice car man.
i've noticed that the rsx and s2000 steering wheels are pretty similar in their dimensions. seeing that prices for s2k parts are through the roof, an rsx wheel swapped into the civic would make for a pretty affordable upgrade!

Hmm $700! For an interior part a pair of Dc5 Recaro seats?. Have you looked into the (A-Spec Trim) interior titanium trim and the exterior front and rear lip?. Definitely the holy grail of OEM plus parts! That come with a excessive price. Keep up the great content.
That’s tough. If you’re going to put money into it, address the things wrong with it. That is, if it’s worth keeping or selling for profit down the road. That, or just run it until it costs too much to keep up with
Ye I do really love and enjoy the car but the rust is something I’m not sure I wanna deal with. Thing that sucks is I broke my pinch welds due to how much rust it had and trying to lift it😢
Every RSX have a story, even my 06 RSX had a crazy story just like yours when you bought it. I also spent a whole a lot of money to restore my 06 RSX and was it worth it? Yes and no, like you said its very difficult with these cars to say its honestly personal if you really love the car like you and I then yes i say its worth it but from 3rd person point of view they will say its not worth. I'm planning to keep my until my engine blows up so at least i can rest easy for now as I finally got to a baseline clean RSX like yours haha. Your spoiler video made me get a high top spoiler bye bye 570 dollars (after repaint) :'( but worth it at the end because all RSX needs a high spoiler. Exact thing happened to my starter. after 4 months of that horrible noise i decided to buy a denso starter and replace it. To avoid the flywheel getting damaged. Heads up it’s kind of a pain to access it

Can you clarify the difference between the A-Spec and Type R wing? Most forum posts I've found are filled with contrasting opinions and they're like a decade old. Since you have an OEM for each I'd like to really understand the difference. Also if you have pics that show the difference in the profile that would be super cool too! Sometimes the wing hits differently when I see them, and I can't tell if it's a photography angle or if it's a rep/OEM issue. Now I'm wondering if it's an A/R variance.
@@ALLDAYANTHONY Sorry man but the video doesn't show the two side by side. Just the mini lip and the wing. Not both wings side by side. why or and what is this trend of putting honda badges on acuras i know it started back in the day when honda type r was the thing and rsx was thought of as weak in comparison but nowa days tech has equalled them out and acura is luxury american i mean why not show that its an acura turned to destroy hondas ? if you agree hit back

Sometimes the wing hits differently when I see them, and I can't tell if it's a photography angle or if it's a rep/OEM issue. Now I'm wondering if it's an A/R variance.
In the spoiler install video I have both of them side by side
@@ALLDAYANTHONY Sorry man but the video doesn't show the two side by side. Just the mini lip and the wing. Not both wings side by side.
There just isn't anything online that shows the 2 wings next to each other. You should do a short video definitively clarifying the differences since there isn't readily available information on this.
I'd hate to add up what I've spent on my $600 Civic, which I'm out in the snow replacing the clutch on. Not fun times.
I don’t envy you. Hope you get it done!
Is the JDM push start button the rare interior piece 🤔
That’s a good guess!

why or and what is this trend of putting honda badges on acuras i know it started back in the day when honda type r was the thing and rsx was thought of as weak in comparison but nowa days tech has equalled them out and acura is luxury american i mean why not show that its an acura turned to destroy hondas ? if you agree hit back
Probably because Acura is just Honda in a fancy suit so ig ppl like to put the Honda badge as a preference
