This Wasn't Cheap! Installing NEW Acura RSX Type S OEM Headlights!

- Buy once, Cry once! In today's video, the Acura RSX Type S build gets a NEW set of OEM headlights. After being disappointed in cheap aftermarket headlights, that route was NOT the answer for this OEM+ DC5 build. So let's install these MINTY lights and some JDM goodies to make this car look NEW again! Enjoy!
As usual, this RSX Type S project car continues to cost more and more. While I enjoy doing budget Honda builds and saving money, these RSX headlights were beyond headlight restoration. After ordering a set of Eagle Eyes Headlights, I was disappointed in the build quality and knew I had to go OEM to be happy. My normal Honda Junkyard runs weren't successful in finding any, so I dug deep and ordered a brand new set from Acura. Overkill for an almost 200k mile RSX? Probably, but this transformed this car to look new again!
Installing Honda headlights is generally pretty easy. For the RSX, the front bumper needs to be removed to have access to all the bolts. While I wanted to upgrade the headlights to HID or LED, I just didn't have time in today's video. New bulbs were installed along with some JDM Nokya Yellow High Beams! As the cherry on top, I install the new DC5 Type R Honda "H" emblem on the front bumper. Overall, an expensive video with a NEWish result. Happy with how clean this build is coming!

Your videos are so helpful. I bought a 04 rsx-s last year in Alaska. 120k miles, all oem, not a great deep snow car.. I'm glad to hear that they all grind at startup under 32 degrees..

When I put my halos on my 03, it has a bit of a gap on top. You see more of the headlight instead of it being flush with the hood. Other than that the halos look great. But it has been 10 years. I have restored them about 5 times. I'm planning o getting a new set after I get the car painted.

Every time I watch finish your RSX videos, I always go to my garage and look at mine. :) The RSX aged like wine. Its nice to see others going the extra mile and replacing parts the right way. Unfortunately, the leather seats are one thing that cracks quick. I was fortune enough to pick some 05-06 cloth seats back in 2018 and they are incredible!! The Honda badges are really growing one me. By any chance is the front emblem for sale? I've scoured the internet can't find any fronts for the 02-04. Love the context, looking forward for what to come!

@ALLDAYANTHONY I’d try and go with LED light bulbs. I mean nothing against HID’s it’s just so much easier to run LED’s imo because of being plug-in-play over having to run a Ballast for the HID’s unless you’re car came factory with HID’s, their pretty bright but not as bright as some 8k, 10k, or even 12k. But it’s your car. I just love your in depth attention to detail in all your videos. I started following since you got your Red civic and I’m a big Honda fan, had a few in my time. A 89 CRX SiR from Japan, and a 92 EG sedan with a B20 swap/B16A trans. But own a 2nd gen BL1 Mazda 3 sedan that I’m trying to make my own, I know it’s different then a Honda and not a Speed3 but I like it. Keep up with the great content

If you wanna save the headlights use LED’s. The incandescent bulbs create lots of heat resulting in the plastic cracking over time. Looks amazing!

it’s been a couple days but i found it you need something oem, grab the part number and bring it to the dealer (the majority of the parts for an rsx can be obtained through a honda dealer) and it’s usually cheaper than buying them through OEM websites
This car is so clean, I can only hope to get mine this good one day 😭. Its currently in 2 colors.

i’m a arm rest driver thats why i couldn’t drive comfortably in the civic em1 cause the arm rest was an option 😂

Luckily my 28k miles rsx got PPF the first day. So they are brand new still on mine.

Brand New O.E headlights are so underrated...ive stick to original bulbs to prevent future damage on clear lens. Ultra bright lamp and coolness was never a factor.

Used to have those nokya bulbs on my FA5. Looked nice but it burned up after a few months so I switched to LED.
I doubt I’ll be running the high beams often so I’ll get some good life out of them!

Those eagle eye ones came in my RSX when I bought and can confirm, they're junk. Good move on the new ones. It's looking great, keep it up. Can't wait to see new wheels on it.

As an Rsx Owner myself. I Love these videos, i definitely want to buy a set of OEM Headlights for my Rsx! Trying to Source an OEM Aspec front lip is extremely hard too!
The lip is on my long list. If it happens, great! If not, I’m ok with that as well

I went the same route except that previously I had a company do some retrofit headlights and they turned out like shit so... 900 hundred dollars later my black rsx type s is looking soooo minty.

i believe u man last week oakville honda ask for $700+tax for just IACV plus 2hr labour around 1000 all in for a $65 shipped part from amazon that ive installed earlier for less than 30mins on winter outside the mall parking lot.

Retro fits can often look cheap IMO. Sometimes they can be done right, but I don’t see it often. But that’s just me

Anthony, did you have to buy the rubber covers for the backs of the bulb housings? Did the new ones come with the covers or did you reuse your old ones?
I cleaned and re-used my original ones!

I couldn't agree more Anthony.. I am disgusted every time I open up the garage door and I see those nasty hazed over headlights on my car. The new ones are still in the box and they need to get some protection film before go on the car. Your new OEM lights look freaking clean now!

idk how much you spent on them seats you have in your civic i believe 3 years ago? when i checked the price it was $1,000 idk if that's per seat or a whole set(either way that's a LOTTA for me at least)

Instead of the 3rd party brand, you can buff out and recondition your existing headlights for sure.

you shouls have wrapped the new headlights on the rsx with ppf to keep them looking new and to prevent them chipping and fading

Buy once, cry once is right. For anyone on the fence about spending that money on these "older" cars..the price only goes up over time and the longer you wait, the more likely you'll be to get that dreaded email back "this product has been discontinued by the manufacturer".

Hey Ant i was wondering your thoughts about my grandma's 2009 honda accord lx. Her accord has the k24 and for those who don't know what the k24 is from honda the k24 is a 2.4L i-vtec i4 from honda. and the one crazy part about my grandma's accord is it has 73,000 ORGINAL MILES on it because my grandma she is in her early to mid 70s and she has also had the brakes replaced twice because the 8th gen accords have something called premature brake wear so yea.
Maybe see if she’ll sell it to you? Could make for a nice daily!
