So You Want an Acura RSX

- The Acura RSX which was derived from the 2001 Integra DC5 that was available in Japan was a huge hit in America during the early 2000s. The rev-happy four-cylinder was the perfect platform for those who were looking for a tuner car with a few more comfort options. Even though you could find the RSX rolling the streets or in every Need for Speed game it seems to be the Honda that everyone forgot about. Not too often do we seem them today, unfortunately, but when we do we always take notice. So you want an Acura RSX? Whether it be a base model or Type-S Alex is here to break down everything you should expect if you find yourself browsing for one on your next Craigslist spree.

Civic Si because LSD bro
I picked RSX, no ragrets
Civic si
RSX all the way
Celica.
Shoutout to all the RSX owners!!
One day...
Got one but she got totaled I’m rebuilding as I type this lol
Proud owner of 2002 RSX Type S with a K24A swap and K20A2 head swap. She is a beast for a 4cylinder
just bought one today, 190k miles wish me luck boiz
sega screebz lol, I’m looking at 138k for 06, high mileage means reliability.
So you want a RSX? *Looks out window* I got one, and I daily drive it! Love the car!
Me too, love mine to death
I love the look of the rsx but I’ll be the lower of you guys cuz I got the 7th gen civic ex special edition
@@gsjourney3054 You have the Special Edition? I woulda loved to have had that thing at the time. My first car was a 2004 Honda Civic LX sedan, & I was bummed to find out my car didn't have Vtec. Those D Series engines ain't too shabby, either. Especially with Vtec. Those coupes with the rear spoilers also look real nice. I always respected how the Special Edition Civics came with tweeters, which are pretty nice. That type of civic came fully loaded with rims, a rear spoiler, amplified sound system, custom radio with a CD player, etc. That car of yours has plenty of potential, don't get me wrong. I always loved the look of those cars, as well.
Same haha
Same here, I have an 06 with just the standard manual but that lil guy can scream when you drop gears.
Love it.
The fact that my 02’ can keep up with new cars, out MPG them and still get questions like “where did you find one that nice” and “ what year is that?”, I love my RSX.
Joseph A.W what kind of cars do you keep up with lol
M They will blow mopeds and dodge neons off the road son!
Unless it's the type S, my Scion has more hp. lol
@@MEEK5 The kind you can't afford
@@kevingulley6980 bullshit, even a 2016 turbo has only 16 more HP then the base RSX. There is a reason there are so many RSX still on the road
The RSX will become another Honda classic.
Yea, its not quick until you start building the god of Honda engines. K series.
The God of Engines!!!
Same thing I was gonna comment about, do they forget that has a k20 on it?
@@Frenchyk 🤣
If you hadn’t I was gonna lol. Just ad a TAD of boost. Just a baby amount and this engine platform becomes beastly. I’m getting an rsx/s when I get income tax. Even in stock form they are loads of fun
Can’t forget the B18
YOU WANT AN ACURA RSX? Finally! WE OUT HERE BOYS
we get no love here on youtube
I’ve been waiting for this.
We’re reunited boys
Charles did a double take when i saw this video
Yes bro !
The amount of after market mods and knowledge built up over the years is staggering and I for sure recommend owning one at least in your life! 🤘
Tommy Y and for series power mods people can just turbo or supercharge or even just drop in a k20z1 (if they have an a2 or a3) or the popular k20/k24 setup
I miss when JDM used to mean “fun, reliable cars”, now they’re just reliable.
I have an 06 RSX Type-S and I can tell you for a fact it’s fun. I bought it for $6,000 and I have maybe $5,000 in it with repairs and mods. It’s so much fun to drive. It’s shifting is so smooth, it sounds good if you have the right muffler, and when I get to around 4,000 rpms and let off the gas my exhaust pops 🤪 I take it on mountain roads all the time and it’s a blast. You should try it out sometime
@@johnzeitouni243 thats tight man what engine mods do u have
CAI, fatback exhaust, spark plugs, and minor upgrades here and here
still fun the cars are made to whip unlike most
John Zeitouni what kind of exhaust setup would you run? Or recommend?
DC5NATION! 🤙🏼 where all my rsx owners at?
Just got an 06 rsx base model for $2800 179K miles, let the rebuild begin 😈 great video btw
I LOOOOVE MY RSX!!!! NO REGRETS!!! It was my dream car and IM PROUD TO OWN
Back in 2003 my friend bought a type S RSX. I was infatuated with the interior material, the engine, and the car as a whole. Looking back now, I honestly think it shaped my respect for Japanese cars. Don't @me, I know the significance of the car compared to other Japanese legends is minuscule, but I was only 17. Fast foreard. I own a '17 Si and got my eyes on the type R.
You forgot the gh SIGH….
💯
I own a base model RSX and it is pretty damn quick for a daily driver and it still turns heads. The R type was also rated the best front wheel drive car of all time.
The integra type r would be that best handling FWD car. The ek civic was a similar chassis and was also amazing to drive. I have an RSX type s and it’s pretty nice, but still not the double wishbone suspension that was the amazing EK and DC2 integra
I have an RSX its by far the best daily/ neckbreaker kseries wise😂
Kid Chris lol it is 😂
Nah that goes to the CSX Type S
SAPPY ovee the RSX? idk man
@@tdot7084 he crazy
@@tdot7084 CSX = Poor mans Fd2 Type R
Bought a 2003 Type S about a month ago, decent condition and mostly stock for a good price. I'm 32 now, but it was the car I wanted back in High School, so it's like I've come full circle lol. It's going to be a track car (eventually) but right now im just doing small mods and making vlogs about it.
HAHAHA GARBAGE FWD track car…. Let’s meet up at road america or circuit of the America’s and you bring your “track car” and I’ll bring my street car that’s rwd 600-700 lbs heavier and I’ll destroy you, on road tires…I’ll dig up your grandma and porkalate her with slicks….
I’ve had mine for about 2 months and absolutely love it, if your questioning on buying one, don’t just do it, you won’t regret it.
Finally some front wheel drive content 😭 can we get the civic Si now
You might as well do a “so you want a prelude” as well 👀
Yes one of the other cars I wanted to buy too 😭😂😂😂
Brings back fun memories. I had a 2002 Type-S and did all sorts of things with it. Track days, drag strip, legal street races, car shows. It always surprised people when it’s faster than they thought it was.
Been daily driving mine for the past 11 years. Still running strong and super reliable
RSX’s are pretty nice tho.
Sad m8
Bro i see you everywhere 😂😂😂 on gta i think too
Went from "at the end of the day" to "back in the day"
He truly sticks to his roots
“So you want an RSX…if you can find one”
That’s the big challenge.. finding a non-clapped one! -Edgar
Thanks for the love! I appreciate y’all putting my car in the vid!
I've had my RSX since 2011 and I still love it!
6:35 except a stock RSX Type S would DESTROY a FRS/BRZ because the 86s are low compression.
Perfect timing! My friend’s brother just gave him a RSX and it’s basically a project car but this video helped a lot! Also I can finally tell my friends that just because the Acura is a 6 speed doesn’t mean is fast. 😂 wish me luck guys!
Got my RSX 3 years ago. Never let me down, amazing car
I have had RSX type s 2006 in 2012. I was impressed how good it was. Truly high quality cars. And the driving was so much fun.
Just posting my daily request
“So you want a g37”
SoHo Don please bc i’m about to buy one😭😭😭
So you want a G37? Don't!
Looking at them too!
SoHo Don looking for a sport package facelift model or a bonus if I can get an IPL
I love my G37 so please do a G37 lol
They may not be blistering fast but that's why you throw a precision turbo on it. A 4 cylinder engine that can handle nearly 500HP stock is pretty crazy and gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
*600+
Had a buddy who had a clean ass RSX in high school, 7 years later I still think about it.
I dont know what a RSX is but those Honda Integras look great.
The Honda Integra is the RSX in Canada/US
RSXs are USDM versions of the Integra.
I E BEEN WAITING FIR THIS FOR SO LONG

Damnnn you hella cute 😍❤️
Damnnn you hella cute 😍❤️ be my girl I’ll buy you 3534 RSX’s I got too!!
Cool vid! Still the original owner of an 05 base and love it as a daily or occasional driver. What I always wanted was the CRX...
Best car I ever owned, still miss it. Will definitely own one again.
RSX's finally getting some love!
Alex I love you and think I speak for all Honda fan boys and rsx owners when I say this... it’s a hatchback! 😂 So happy you guys did a review on it tho! Keep the amazing content up.
Ps... I’m picking up some BC racing coils soon for my rsx from you guys ❤️
Thanks for the support man! We can't wait to help you out! 🙏🏼
Rewatching this like six months after buying my own 2006 RSX.
Good feels
Gotta love the simple body style older cars have
I’m in my 40s and still rocking my 06 rsx base..in fact my car is in your gallery on your website
Xyooj Vaaj I’m 18 looking to buy my first car is it a good choice I want something reliable but nice looking and decently fast
How doinn God if you want a reliable and sporty fast then get a rsx type-s. Not many of them are on the street..and if there are..they’ll mostly be modified. A decent clean on with low mileage (under 100k still runs 7-8k). Im rocking a base because i suck a manual and mostly go for reliable and looks.
Xyooj Vaaj most of them I’m seeing rn are like 150 200 miles and are going for like 4 or 5k
@@ifitflysitmustdie2418 don’t know if you got it but I’m 18 and I bought an rsx as my first car.. everyone has a 350z, g35, Honda Civic, but you’ll rarely ever see an rsx that’s why I got it. If you got a 05-06 those are the best looking ones. You’ll definitely break necks and get compliments because there aren’t a lot out here
i am in love with my rsx. obsessed with the platform, so many possibilities 🔥
They're really good cars got mines for a while and it's been reliable after 250000 miles
that’s awesome, mine is going on 240k and still running like a champ
Love this video, i have watch it like 4 times… cuz we deserve the appreciation they giving us for having a blast of a car
I got my RSX-S brand new and I still daily it. I still love the car. Its not the newest, fastest car but it has style.
I 💙 my DC5!
I love my type-s, it was my dream car when I was in high school back in 2004. I have had mine for about 2 years now and I dont ever see myself with out it. Its come a long way in that time and I like being the underdog
Been waiting for this vid for a while, i love my 06 type-s
I bought my Type S brand new in January 2006. It now has 294,000 miles on it, unmodded. I'm going to hit 300,000 later this year and then we're parting ways. It's been a great car.
Whats next for a project?! -Edgar
@@FitmentIndustries No projects. I'm getting old and have a family. I need a SUV and a truck. Eventually I'd like an electric truck.
Get yourself a Lightning 💥👀 and fair enough. -Edgar
I built a lot of seat frames for the Acura RSX. I repair welded, ran the spot weld and mig welding robot stations.
212k miles an still running hard love the rsx type s
My dad just got me a 04 RSX Type-S! Super excited to drive it
I just bought an RSX type S myself! Love it tbh
The only clean(un rapped) rsx I found were the automatics
SO YOU WANT AN MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE 4 videos im a row 😂 love the vids
Y’all were on point with this video!
Used to have a 2002 base speed. Had it for 7 years and loved it before giving it to a family member. Always turn my head when i see one
Rsx was my first “tuner car”.... was also my first garden edging front lip and eBay intake..... mistakes were made. But I put that car through the ringer and it didn’t break once!
Well yea rsx-s aren't fast on the straights but if you go touge and hit the backroads then you'll outperform pretty much everyone else, make subtle power that's under 300, upgrade suspension and handling, and you'll do fine around corners.
Doing 60 on a 90° corner is consider easy, doing anything 75+ you gotta have faith in yourself, but if its like a 90° corner going down hill then play it safe.
Always love when I’m chasing a car down and they gotta baby the corner, with some good tires and confidence/experience you can catch up to some car in some corners or double lane off ramps
@@gprime70 fucking love it when you sit on their ass all the way around
Yeah man this is where these Fwd platforms can have an edge. Yeah driving fast in a straight lines cool and all , but circuit racing is where a little 4 cylinder Fwd car can excel even with a gap in power.
Yerrr]pppppppppp
My son just picked one up, (today is Dec 6, 2020), for only $4,500, with only 90K on the mileage (seriously... a 2006??!!) ! ! ! Honestly, it only needs a little bit of love. Like he said in the video, find one that has a relatively clean engine, very little rust, a decent interior, and no major rough spots... AND BBAAMM!!! you have a really cool and reliable car. Awesome video!
I bought one that is untouched from a senior citizen and it’s a type s I love it
02-04 type S is still the imo the best model, I've had mine is a 02' had it since 04' when i was 16 in high school. I was 1 of the first to have a nice hooked up RSX type S down here in Austin, TX
😁 still got my 05 RSX Type-S! It's quick enough for daily driving and what's not to love when hitting vtec with a race header🤤.
This video makes my Acura rsx feel loved!!! Great first car hands down!!! On god
Been looking for a decent one for a couple months now good timing on the video
"So you want an Acura RSX?" Nah, I own two of them and they are amazing cars.
Just for anyone wondering, the RSX is actually stupidly op in SCCA Solo rule autocross. H street class, there's a guy that is usually in the top 5 in our group.
These guys were reading my mind , his just showed up in my recommended
Ayyyy I just suggested this last video. I love my 02 type s, this car is a blast!
YESS #DC5GANG.
I have a feeling Alex totally forgot that boost exists though...
no complaints about my jrsc on my 06.
And the k20 or k24 is a killer beast
Not everyone can afford shit like that
Tokahontas boosting a type S isnt that expensive
@@tdot7084 Its not that expensive but K's can add up quick. Especially if you want a GOOD kit that will be reliable and that is very well made.. To properly boost a Dc5 from stock, you are looking at like $8-10K.. This includes everything from the fuel system, to the tuning, to all the little labor needed.
Honda top 5
1)NSX
2) S2000
3) Prelude AWS
4) Integra Type R JDM
5) CRX SI

Mo Smith 1st 2 you were doing good then you jump off the deep end “prelude” 🤣🤣🤣
Id probably flip 3 and 5 but that's cause I had a crx haha

Crx over ek9 u wot?
kylethegreat8222 go watch the bumper to bumper of the prelude on donut media’s RUclips, will fs change ur mind about that car
This takes me back. I just replaced the engine on the 02 Type-S I bought in 2007.
Bought mine in 2002, still got it, car kicks ass. Not the fastest, but a blast to drive.
I would like to see “So you want an e30 or e36”
Im thinking about possibly buying one and I wanted to see if you had any extra information
Acura RSX was everything the Scion tC wanted to be. Just as the Acura Integra outshined the Toyota Celica.
After the 2001 Honda Prelude passed away, the Integra merged with it and became much more luxurious and shifted into this CRX-like RSX shape.
The contemporary 2001-05 Civic Si went back to their hatchback routes instead of the previous 98 Coupe/Sedan shapes. Eventually, the 2007 Honda Civic Si succeeded the Acura RSX. Meanwhile, Accord V6 Coupes did its best to fill the Prelude void.
The prelude did not merge with the integra to become the rsx. The rsx literally is an integra. It was called that everywhere except north america.
saw this a week before i bought my 02 type s, love y’all @Fitment Industries
Just got a base Model the other week, so much fun, I was one of the fwd haters but it's actually alot of fun 😁
Always liked the RSX. A very nice car to drive... stock
I have owned my 06 for over ten years. Car puts up with a lot of abuse. Great top speed and ok on gas.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR FINALLY SHOWING US SOME LOVE

i own an RSX and i APPROVE this message!
So you want a Cobalt SS,
In the time when everyone was turbocharging their economy cars in order to spice them up. GM decided to stray from the bunch and throw a supercharger into their economy car at the beginning of it’s life eventually opting for a turbo in later years. It would make for an awesome video!
If you’re going to get an RSX don’t even bother with the base model I had a 2006 base model auto and it was the slowest thing ever. Five months later I bought a 2006 Acura RSX Type S (All Type S’s are manual) and it was the best decision ever. Such a fun little car and can rev up to 8100 as opposed to 6700 in the base model. If you want the real Honda VTEC experience.. get the Type S. It also is significantly faster with at least 50 more horses with a similar k series engine.
I had an Acura RSX for my first car and I loved it!
Finally! My favorite video on here now
It’s quick , I’ve caught many cars off guard with just an intake in my type s...
I had one of the very first 2002 Acura RSX Type S cars off the line. My dealership got 2 that week, a red one and a black one. I took the black one. Had a lot of fun with it but eventually sold it maybe 5 years later. I've been actively looking for another one with low miles in more-or-less stock condition lately and have seen almost zero out there.
Mine is stock and i will be selling it.
@@i.m.7710 how many miles we talking?
Damn bro why did you sell it :(
I like how you make a video on this when I just posted my type s for sale
have waited for this video for the longest ever since i got my 04
you would be surprised how many Rsx are around Quebec/ New brunswick
You are missing one of the best reasons to buy one. You keep saying it’s not fast and it’s not by today’s standards but if you want fast you don’t buy a 370z or a sti they are quick but you drop 10k in a type s and you got over 500hp. And you are still sitting less than 20k for the car and the turbo and bolt ons. If you pay 40k for a 370z you or get 350hp. Still not fast just saying
I been waiting for this video to pop up, thanks fitment industry
I went from a 2010 Honda fit in blue to a 2006 RSX type S in blue. I loved that fit and the rsx feels like what the fit should have been. I love it!
I have a type s 2006 and I love it I make costom all most everything on it, spoiler wide body turbo and AWD system and for me is the best looks acura with all goodies looks really a jdm lamborghini 🥰 and mine is fast 537 to the wheels and I'm happy I killed some super cars with it 😈
Great Daily, Honda needs to bring it back
God I love my integra, I didn't know what they were but then I found mine and instantly fell for it!
