We pull regular commercial trailers with standard 5th wheels.

What a great idea. I've seen truck based RVs before but this is the first one that can still haul freight. And this one seems a lot more comfortable and modern, I've only seen camping trailers mounted on old trucks
I’m a commercial yacht transporter and we parked next to each other a few years ago at the wheeler ridge Petro truck stop at the grapevine! You were pulling your curtain side step deck. Nice to see your still living the Dream!!

I just saw the latest promo film on 2018 Volvo heavy trucks. The innovations and R&D that Volvo embraces is just amazing. Soon, there will be Volvo and other top brand trucks in Europe that will be able to drive themselves. I am not exaggerating! Being in trucking now is definitely an exciting time to be alive!

I've spent years behind the Volvo steering wheel as a longhauler and I agree: Everything is just laid out right. It's a pleasure to ride these machines. I like to think that Volvo is the Apple on the road.

I like it with the washer and dryer and the electric stove, the perfect size for myself to travel.
Saw your truck a year ago at Wally World in Galesburg, IL. Loved it and sueprised it was with Landstar and not just an RV. Awesome

I had a VNL 730 and I would buy two more if possible. Best ride in the industry. I think your truck is the best I have seen. I miss my VOLVO. Thanks for showing us a beautiful truck.

My VNL 730 had a 13 speed Eaton Fuller transmission.
Yup, been there, done that. 2005 Frieghtliner, with an 18’ box. 330 Cummings with a 4over4 overdrive. 85mph no problem. I hauled race cars. Retired now 🤠

OK. I REALLY want one. My boyfriend and I are in CDL school, i am leaving my 6 figure corporate job in the next 3-9 months and liquidating everything to live on the road and be a team driver with him... this is the perfect marriage of trucking, camping, tiny house living, and glamping! Where can i go in Wisconsin to begin my build?!!
We had Showhauler Trucks out of Middlebury, IN build the sleeper for us! They are a custom RV builder but are so great to work with - they were up to the task of building one for commercial use! Best of luck out there on the road!

@T Clodfelter Our total price tag on the rig isn't relevant in today's market. We had it all put together back in 2011, prices have really come up since then, and I honestly don't know what it would cost to build this rig today!

We did it in 2017 and it was a very good experience of a life time. Unfortunately we had to stop our trip because of medical problems. Only covered 5 states of 48 that we were planning to cover. Plan to finish it in the future.
Are they pulling loads? .Im just wondering also who can I contact id like to invest in one in the future but definitely pull loads so it will be my work and home
Hi, Luis. This is a working truck, used for dedicated loads. Your local Volvo Trucks dealer can help you spec a similar tractor for upfitting with a custom cab.
Im definitely thinking about it just going on the road and live on the road this would be my home and my office

I think they are pulling expedited loads which can afford such a rig. Pulling contract for companies won't pay for that custom ride. And when pulling, you don't get to lay over at a camp site, it's typically a truck stop.
Not only that but because of the weight and length of the truck really restricts its versatility in what it can haul.

Happy living in New Zealand on two acres with an awesome job. Just love this sleeper not allowed anything like this on New Zealand roads as too long.

+miriamandjon What is your empty weight? I am looking at a 156 inch ARI on a Volvo and the dealer says about 22,600 + or - 10%. I really like the slide out idea like a travel trailer has, adds a lot more living space, so now looking at Show Haulers website

RonRay it looks very expensive to have such truck, it s much more than a normal house ! how about a truck driving licence (in my country it s so expensive to get it that it s a kind of impossible) if you have a plan mobile phone where the bill is sent to ? taxes bills etc etc if you move all the time where is your address ?

Who's the builder of the sleeper unit?
Showhauler Trucks out of Middlebury, IN
We worked with the engineers at Showhauler, our Volvo truck dealer (a very knowledgable guy!) and the Volvo engineers to come up with the specs for manufacture. We are based out of Florida, formerly Texas. Each state has it's benefits - we like TX and FL because no state income taxes so that's a plus. Licensing vehicles in FL is more expensive as they charge sales tax on commercial vehicles! So that's a minus. Just got to find what/where works for you.
David White sure David, just don't haul any freight from Florida! That state has generally been destroyed by the worst of the worst rate cutting in the USA.

@@robertcaron9181 We didn't get paid to do this. Volvo just thought what we did with our rig was unique and asked us to share, so we did! Yes, the video is cheesy - I still can't watch it lol!!! But it is what it is. We're real, the rig is real and we're still trucking with it!

You're very fortunate to be able to PLAY while you work as a truck driver. Thirty eight years as a truck driver, and, the last 15 as an owner operator, I didn't have TIME to 'play'. You must be hauling some awfully good, and, intermittent, paying loads to have all that extra time off. Nice truck, and, I know Volvo rides nice, but, I've been pretty much Peterbilt and Kenworth faithful all my years of trucking. Be safe, and, BE HAPPY!

Cant imagine living your whole life on the road. One day you will feel the need to take up roots somewhere. But kudos to the couple for enjoying this unique life.
It definitely isn't for everyone! We both love life on the go, and one day that may change. We'll eventually feel the urge to settle down, I'm sure, but not today ;)
