I remember being a kid and watching this when it aired. I had no idea wtf the X-Files was but by the end of the episode I vowed not to miss any future adventures of agents Mulder and Scully. And I never did! You get a sub from me for this badass video
This was one of the episodes to really get me hooked too. I always loved horror and monsters and this scared the hell out of me. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you enjoy the channel.
More in line with you on this one. Nothing groundbreaking as far as the story, but solid all around. The transformation was done exceptionally well for television at that time.
Im realising more and more how many episodes id forgot about and ive watched the entire show twice, albeit a long time ago. Solid creature feature ep 👍
I really appreciate the simpsons reference in this and previous videos. Way to go man, great video. Hope it goes viral and you get to monetize your channel.
I grew up with the Simpsons and love the first 8 seasons or so. I'll always try to throw in a reference if possible. I appreciate the kind words and it would be cool if one of my videos went viral one day.
Very Interesting videos, work and footage about this favorite series of mine. Thumbs up. In this video at 11:30 sharp, isn't Scully using a swiss army knife flat screwdriver? There are so many links between The X Files and Mac Gyver series by the way.
The commentary is funny and engaging. Your jokes land and the clips are great. I especially liked when you cut to a werewolf transforming as the Native American elder explained how transformations work. I've been watching each episode you've uploaded and enjoyed each one so far. Thanks for all the content and for the amount of effort you put into each one. It shows.
This was one of the first episodes I seen (I must have been 6 or 7 at the time) on BBC2 in the UK and it absolutely hooked me on the Xfiles. Still to this day.
This was probably one of my favorite X-Files episodes not only because I'm a fan of werewolves but I love the atmosphere that's created it's creepier than usual for sure and the mixer of older Native Americans believing in these legends vs the younger ones and how the episode unfolds gives off the impression that characters like Ish might have been like the Shierf ang Gwen not believing the stories until they saw something. But I also really liked Ish's story and history if the area talking all the different ways this spirit can attack as some of the oldest werewolf stories such as ancient Greek and Noirs would have the gods either curse people to turn into werewolves or be given the power to turn into them, really tracking that even a spirit could outright infect someone to carry on. But this story was original in that the Native American aspect was really what kept in from being a generic werewolf story as in the 90's most werewolf stories were much like The Howling or American Werewolf in London we just get the monster and no backstory yo explain the how and the why only the who, what, and where. Solid review as well.
Here comes a mostly unrelated comment: after all these years there are still only 6 X-Files novels! I'm not counting comic books as there's some of thoes. There are two teen novels as well. I'm sure this void is due to Carter or someone holding on to the copyrights. I am baffled because Carter authorized those particular six novels and only those. I work in a book store and I often thought that there would certainly be shelves full of them as w Star Trek or Doctor Who pastiche. I would love to at least read more Maulder & Scully if nothing else. Since both Duchovney and Anderson are accomplished writers they should write one together! Genius Lol
Classic X-files to me. As a teen, its exploration of tensions, disputes, plights related to native American reservations was something wholly new to me. Sure, X-files did fall into cultural cliches at times, they could have put in more effort at times, but I appreciate the efforts to show cultural minorities in an honest light nevertheless. Mulder is always on the side of the non-mainstreamers anyway. And of course the lights just happen not to work - this is X-files we're talking :D
One of the things I like about the show is it's diversity. They touch on different aspects from different cultures, which is refreshing because every culture has interesting myths and legends that can be explored.
@@JBSpookyReview That's cool, couldn't agree more! As a teen, X-files was a gateway for me to a whole spectrum of (sub)cultures I didn't know anything about. X-files did a better job there than, e.g., Supernatural, with it's many monster of the week episodes.
I expected at least one Deputy Hawk joke. You refer to him as Tommy Hill at 14:55. Something tells me you never saw Twin Peaks. In that show he was always called by his middle name, "Hawk".
My dad was a mortician in Browning many years ago. I used to help him all the time, picking up bodies and helping out around the funeral home. The Rez is in Glacier County, and it is up to the coroner if a body will go through an autopsy or not. The coroner fills out the paperwork on the cause of death. Old people normally don't go through an autopsy unless it appears suspicious or questionable. For the record, we are Blackfeet Indians, or we call ourselves " Pikuni." It was a Blackfeet artist that came up with the Washington Red Skins logo with the imagine of a Blackfeet Chief. Most of us Blackfeet are angered with white liberals for removing the Red Skin logo. Red is used in the past on our skin for ceremony or warfare!
@JBSpookyReview Another thing. Most Blackfeet are Catholics. I don't recall Indians being cremated. They want open casket viewings at the home of the deceased or other family house. It's been 36 years, but I think at that time, the tribe helped with funeral costs.
Hey everyone I hope you're having a good day and that you enjoy the video.

X-Files has some really well done practical effects that I don't think they get enough credit for.

Yeah even though I've watched the series many times I always forget episodes.
I really appreciate the simpsons reference in this and previous videos. Way to go man, great video. Hope it goes viral and you get to monetize your channel.

I think you're right about the screwdriver and I'm sure there was some inspiration from that series.
This is my favourite series on you tube. I look forward to these videos! Keep up the good work!!
I really appreciate that.

Skinwalker.
Skinwalker would make more sense.

It's a fun little monster of the week episode.
This was always one of the episodes I skipped, but now I’m enjoying it through you so I don’t hate it anymore 😂
Haha well I'm glad you like it now, at least through me lol.

Yeah I love the entire native setting, it adds something unique to it that only the film Wolfen I think achieved.
Fantastic mate.. this was a nice surprise tonight.. I love these.. 😎👍🏼
I'm glad you're enjoying them.
Great recap Justin, I’m looking forward to you doing the chupacabra episode.
That's a fun episode
one of the best x-files episodes with Home etc.
I think it's fun.
Might wanna do a “Scully doesn’t have her gun” count.
We could turn it into a drinking game, wait we might die.
8:01 I think that is a man doing a mountain lion impression, lol
Lmao you're probably not wrong.
Fun episode for sure
I agree this one is a good time.
I absolutely love this episode
It's a fun episode
This is my 2nd favourite episode so far, right behind epsisode 8 “Ice”
2 good creepy episodes.
very spooky, good episode
Yeah it's a fun monster episode.
I guess they just discarded the eight year follow up.
Hahah pretty much.
Nice. Always great when you drop an other one. Cheers man.
I'm trying to get them out quicker. Thank you for always watching.
Jumping back in here to say that I loved the Monster Squad reference re the wolfman. Nice.
@@crashline I had to shoehorn it in somehow lol
Two in the same week. What a treat l🎉🎉
I'm glad you're enjoying them. I'm trying to get videos out quicker.
Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming!
@@CosmicBit64 oh I am
"Taco Bell"! You're killin' me!
Haha my little jokes can be cringe, but they make me laugh.
I agree with all your votes!
Currently rewatching this ep while trying to deal with... a rat that is under a blanket on my sofa. SEND HELP! I'm freaking terrified.
I had a rat issue outside over the summer, they're not fun.

I think a new one just came out that follows the events of season 11. Unless you're counting that one too.

No I've never seen Twin Peaks. I just did some research like I always do. I should probably watch that at some point.

You absolutely should! It is a dang classic
This was a good one. I wish they did more episodes with native American folklore.
There's a lot they could play with.
Moores! Moops!
Hahaha
The dad from Danger Bay looks pretty badass with that mustache.
Mustaches can either make you look manly or like a creeper, there is no in between.
What's that song at 3:30 ?
No idea honestly.
I was hoping season 9 would have a sequel to this episode. Reshapes or something, but it wasn’t meant to be I guess.
They could have come back at some point, but I'm not sure why they never did.
Probably forgot they had that ability
The rain, mud and mist created a great atmosphere for this episode. How can Scully "rationalize" what happened to her in this episode?
You're right the atmosphere really makes the episode.
That Taco Bell comment was great!

Scully is irritating.
Haha she can be a pain at times.
