Season 1 is in the bag. Thank you all for watching and season 2 will start up shortly. I have a couple other videos I want to do before I dig in though.
I thought it was a mistake to kill off Deep Throat so early. Chris Carter said it was to let the audience know that everyone is expendable (The Walking Dead?). With Deep Throat gone there was no one else to balance off Cigarette Smoking Man who himself lasted all the way to the final 11th season.
Yes you're 100% right. They wanted audiences to think anyone outside of mulder and scully could die at any time. It would have been nice to have deepthroat around for a little while longer.
@@JBSpookyReview I reckon they killed off Crew Cut Man way too early as well. Just imagine if he served the role of the train car assassin in Nisei/731, and with X killing him, he gets revenge for his predecessor.
Oh, I love this episode. I remember feeling positively overwhelmed the first time I watched it. It helped lay a solid foundation and kept people-or at least me-hungry for more information about the show's main theme: purity control. I couldn't have predicted how much it would affect people's lives from then on, especially Scully's, and I'm looking forward to having you cover the seasons to come. Well done, Justin!
Justin - "Looks like the Duke Boys are at it again!" had me laughing so hard today! And the Ghostbusters reference! Pure gold! Thank you for all the great videos!
What a fucking ep. This was the best thing on television for years, even after the show ended people were still finding Easter eggs and discussing the series.
Hey Justin. I've been subscribed to the channel for a while now and appreciate Your commitment, editing and humour You put into the videos. Keep them coming ❤❤
"Why does every other cop have to treat Mulder like piece of shit?" It's only the guys and I always assume because they hit on Scully and she implies that her and Mulder are an item.
Another amazing video thank you! You put these out so quickly but clearly are a ton of work. It’s obvious you love the series. Anne Carpenter was the science consultant for the show and the condescending doctor was named after her. The real Anne Carpenter wrote a book about the science in the x files. Can’t wait for season 2 and watching how they attempt to cover up Gillian’s pregnancy.
Oh that's interesting I did not know there was a real Anne Carpenter that helped with the show. I swear I learn more from the comments than I do my research. I do love the series, it's one of the few television shows I actually enjoy honestly. I can't wait to start with season 2 as well, but I do have a couple other videos I want to get out first that I'm sure everyone will just love...
Dude I always wondered how Scully just dismisses any proof of UFOs or the supernatural even after this episode where she literally holds an Alien baby!
It's called burying your head in the sand. You could show what the Ark of the Covenant did to Germans or the Holy Grail in full effect and she'd come up with some bs to explain it away, where I could poke holes through her explanations then have the audacity to ask out to dinner many other great unknowns.
...did ya not point out that 'trust no one' is said by Max Pfennig in E.B.E.? Feels like I missed something. Course, also, Purity Control in a stoppered flask might make sense, sorta, if you bear in mind what we learn about it later - alive the stopper would be no problem - Purity can go through more or less anything, including glass, but a screw cap would also present no hurdle, and dead it's no danger to anyone, so, a stopper would work just as well as anything else.
Oops, sorry, Fallen Angel not EBE. 4:12 Max says Trust No One, which you point out as being the first time that phrase is said, so, I'm not sure what you meant when you said for this one that Deeeeeeep Throat coined it. Were you thinking this is the first time that Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Throat says it? Being nit picky, of course, but mostly because I'm just not sure what you meant, not trying to be a dick. :-) @JBSpookyReview
Erlenmeyer Flask is the episode that kicked X-files in a higher gear, it's so good! When I first saw it, I was excited for days :) (go 15-year old me!) It was the first ep to tackle the idea of human-alien hybridization that would become such a staple of following season's mythology episodes. Note to the Syndicate: maybe you should lay off on all the murder to cover up your tracks. Murder is not the only solution to all your problems! It's starting to draw attention to yourselves :)
Now this is an interesting episode, so much alien plot stuff. Geting this through season 1 is a milestone J, i am and will remain a fan off your work, take care now and don't rush things now, take a brake. You deserve it. Oh and i laughed so hard att Mulder listing all the things he whanted to find.
Hilarious review! I love how the conspirators in this show always leave evidence lying around for anyone to find. Alien-human hybrid bodies in tanks inside a warehouse in the middle of the city? Alien bodies in a boxcar buried in the desert? Millions of files in cabinets inside a cave where anyone could find them? Sure why not! It's a miracle more people never discovered the government conspiracy given how much evidence was just lying around unguarded.
You know it's been a while since I've gone through the series so I'll have to re-familiarize myself with x a bit more, but I might actually say X. Plus the x mulder would put on the window is kind of iconic.
Am I the only one on the planet that has noticed when phones ring on TV the time between rings is shorter than in real life? I understand why they do it like that. It's just dead time. But I've never heard it mentioned anywhere! "I think he does it because you do." I often keep captions on because sometimes I can't catch bits here & there. But I still said it with her. I loved how they were cloning humans and the most security they had was a door and key with the number on it that anyone could've found/opened. LOL! "cry-ology" - HAHAHAHA! So that's where the scumbags who locked me out of Twitter more than a year ago are hiding. HOW did she just guess the password? Why didn't Deep Throat provide it to her? What would she have done if it hadn't worked? I'm being too logical again, aren't I? It's been a long time since I saw this one. HOLD UP! Scully was able to take Baby!Alien out of the facility?! That's too hard to believe even for TV. I came to the show late. Didn't really get hopelessly hooked until S6. Saw many eps in rerun, totally out of order. But I loved this episode when I finally saw it. After all the misdirections, it felt like they (and we) were finally going to be given at least SOME answers. What an innocent babe I was back then. We all were. Double Xtra points for ol' Klaus. Man alive, this show had the best cliffhanger season enders! I miss my fandom so much. We'd talk and speculate endlessly, desperately waiting for the fall premiere season to begin. Ah, the good old days. Feels like another world.
I will say while I get people wishing Deep Throat stuck around more I was never crazy about the character as I feel he honestly was far too cavalier with his help to Mulder and had to have known one day they'd put a bullet in him. You compare Deep Throat to X who is far more careful and isn't afraid of putting a hurt on Mulder or anyone else was far better at doing his job while keeping it a secret. My own heaf cannon was Deep Throat wanted to save Mulder one last time but was honestly done with this whole thing and wanted it to end, so he had Scully steal the one thing that he knew would have gotten him killed.
