Super Mario Bros. 3 - Bowser Koopa beaten with Tanooki Suit

- Since I've uploaded so many SMB3 videos lately...what the hell? Here's the final fortress and the final battle with Bowser Koopa, all conquered with the Tanooki Suit, because I can. And I'll throw in the ending too, even though it's SO @#$&ING LAME, especially when you're like me and play it through from beginning to end without warp whistles. All that work for THIS!? EDIT 10/19/2018: Recently pulled this feat off again: • Super Mario Bros. 3 - ...

Over 30 years later….still one of the greatest games ever made.
Yeah I still have this on the original Nintendo.
Agreed and I grew up with super Mario advanced 4 and didn’t discover the original till years later. I consider the NES version my favorite.
I just beat Bowser in like three seconds or so with the Hammer Suit and came here to watch how the battle is actually supposed to look like.
Oh so you do blj
Mario needs to kill bowser with 6 hammers
Even without any powerups this foght was pitifully easy
I'll probably get shot for saying this, but I think Super Mario Bros 3 is much better than the first Mario Bros game. I like both a lot, but this one is done 1,000 times better.
Well, SMB3 introduced many powerups and that's one of the reasons it's so good.
Bruh u can't be saying that super mario bros was the game that started it all
Of the three main-series SMB games released on the NES, three is the best.
SMB3 is the best of them all
You’re not wrong, the original Super Mario Bros is a classic and introduced the world to a side scrolling Mario game, but SMB 3 perfected it. Super Mario World is good too, but I felt it was too short and easy compared to SMB 3, and SMB 3 had way more power ups
I didn't know you could kill those shiny disks by turning into a statue. Interesting.
The more you know
Now that you mention, I recall discovering this by accident!
Kinda like killing the evil sun with a koopa shell, it's something you just have to stumble upon.
Hahaha me too!!!!
You cant in the all stars version
And now you tell that I can kill the round disk of death with the statue? After 30 years. Shame on you man.
I never knew there was a statue.
@@Kriti98 Yours didn't come with the manual?
It isn’t the disk of death it is the rainbow waffle of death
He liked your comment :)
@@HuskyShields bowser using his
Breakfast to kill mario.
I never get tired of this game! In my opinion the BEST Super Mario game ever made! I recall me being so nervous when I got to Bowser. The Tanooki suit rocked!
The classic "get Bowser to suicide while he is breaking the bricks" method is good.
That dope ending music IS your reward for beating the game, dur.
It’s always like this. Listening to credits songs fills me with joy, even though I didn’t even work hard to complete the game.
@@jendorei chanelle :m spex
Yeah, who cares about the princess
@@CruiseBro16 Bruh, The Princess is really a Peach 🍑👸🏼🤭🤣🤣 lol
Mario got trolled by peach!
This game is still so fucking good.
Still is now
@@littledoodle5689 Just played it a few days ago. Mm-hmm

@@eenayeah :’)
Yeah I still got this on the original Nintendo.
I marvel at how good this game was back in the 1980's. It's hard to believe that someone can make something this good that long ago!
The best music was composed over 300 years ago so...
For that matter, Pac-Man, one of the greatest, most addicting games of all time, came out in 1980. I would argue that it's hard to believe games even close to THIS good even come out at all, these days. Not the other way around.
Masterpieces are timeless
@HaoHao MeiMei That's racist white men can do the same
@HaoHao MeiMei Cry about it liberal snowflake
I remember beating this game as a kid. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding games ever. I still don't know how I beat it at such a young age.
@David He did
I just beat it yesterday and I'm 41 years old lol.
I was 10 when I beat the game....wasn’t easy though.
I beat it this week for the first time and I'm 30, when I was a kid the farthest I got was World 8 stage 1. Lives were a drag, if I would have known about 99 lives tricks maybe I could have done it when I was a kid. Good video.
this game had pretty good graphics for its time
rebeu deter yah and now its babys compared to today
@@agentdon1760
It's surely better than Fortnite
True
Well this was on the last years of NES in wich developers really puahed stuff to the limit
It's the first game where Bowser actually looks like Bowser instead of a smudge of green and white pixels.
love the ending, just realized no points for killing bowser
tanooki Mario is one of my favorite power ups
Princess peach:Thank you but our princess is in another castle
Mario: I N T E N S I F I E S
That ending music
Totally, makes me a bit sad but happy at the same time, reminds me of my childhood
It was also adapted as the ending of every episode of "The Adventure of Super Mario Bros 3."
I prefer to beat Bowser with a hammer suit.
concours14sp it's a lot easier with it too. Just a few hammers and hes dead
ElJman85 Actually I think it’s only ONE hammer to kill him
MrMega It's four.
@@meta04 on my gameplay it was six
I remember beating this game the first time and being like “that’s it!!!”
I know right?! "Ha ha. Bye Bye." WHAT??? I was pissed back in 8th grade.
@@GiveMeBackMyRhodey Then play the Game Boy Advance version. Peach said something different.
Peace has at last restored to our faithful Mushroom Kingdom!

Instead of Thank you. But the princess is in another castle! Haha! Tee hee! Bye Bye!
@@lauracoles7507 girl this was 30 years ago when I played Super Mario Bros 3. I was 13-14. I’m not about to relive the experience on a Game Boy. Especially since the Game Boy I remember in 1989 was like torture with the green and shadows. No. I just have bittersweet memories at this point.
@@GiveMeBackMyRhodey OK
@@GiveMeBackMyRhodey the GBA isn't green though, it basically has better graphics than SNES. Full colour and fun effects.
When I saw the ending for the first time I almost had an heart attack....
It is said that the castle is the biggest stage on the whole game because it takes about a extra half second just to load the stage, like on 0:06.
I actually never got to Bowser Koopa in SMB3 until I got Ultimate NES Remix for Nintendo 3DS. He actually feels like a Boss - More specifically a *Final Boss* - than in the castles in SMB1
I never knew the Tanooki statue could take out those disco ball things.
You beat the whole game in one run! Awesome, you have such a great score. I'm proud of players going from wrold one to the last one without warping
Actually I did this on an emulator. But as a kid with an NES, I always slogged through the whole game.
Beating SMB3 without warping has always been my creed ; o ; b _#Nostalgiaisaficklebitch_
A yo what's good, Hood?! I have absolutely enjoyed this video game since the first release, for I was a toddler then. I have also completed the originally traditional NES Super Mario Bros. 3 at least twice without warping.
On the most recent occasion, having done so throughout a series of about a week, my only choice was to leave the Nintendo turned on while I was away, resting, or ultimately busy, resulting in a pause. Then, once before that time, I had to start over because some foolishly careless woman I was spending time with froze the game upon losing balance and falling to the floor as she was leaving! No big deal to Me, perhaps I had left her weak in the knees; Ha ha ha ha ha!..
Now, if only I could remember my score while defeating Bowser, after traveling across every World prior, regardless of collecting all the flutes, along with every other possible item and power-up along the way...
However, I do remember rescuing Princess Toadstool for the first time, twelve years ago, in four hours and twenty minutes! A'ight, perhaps five hours, more or less, considering the fact that I took a few breaks to rest my eyes, answer the phone, etc.
This challenge truly tests one's ability to successfully triumph, especially when attempting to discover and explore everything to their avail, since there is no save feature, of course. The thoughtful idea of a percentive progress report along with a total elapsed time clock before the curtain falls at THE END occurred to Me just now. Although you can only store four pages of inventory, knowing precisely how, when, and where to strategically utilize certain suits throughout the lands are definitely handy. Whatever You do, do not use a flute anywhere in World 8, since this will simply cause Mario and Luigi to start over at 8-1. Really though, truly yo!..
Growing up, me and my family always played this game, but could never beat it! Glad to see it’s actually possible!
This game will always be my favorite.
A castle that is nearly impossible to reproduce in Super Mario Maker (I'm currently trying)
+Fabchaotix If you do it, pass the level ID!
Here, I finally I finished with the limit of the game :
88E4-0000-0084-7F6D
What do you mean this looks easy
I think they mean its impossible to perfectly reproduce this level in Mario Maker. Not that their level itself is impossible. They're right since some enemies and obstacles are not present at all in Mario Maker.
What about in SMM2? It has to be possible by now, right?
Thanks for beating this the old fashion way :D
The other ways (shooting Bowser with fire) are ok too but this way is so much more epic :D
I just can't believe I didn't think about the obvious..... :D Letting Bowser kill himSELF, like I always did, EVERY time..... :)
The fun of playing this game for 5 hours or more then is still fun now!
The Japanese version, she thanks Mario for saving peace in the Mushroom Kingdom. The little joke she used here was not used for the GBA release.
@kokodrile13 I think we are the very few SMB3 players who have played this since childhood, even without using Warp Whistles... I remember this being released around the time I was born... The greatest thing was... Everything... The music arrangements, the gameplay, and the levels... I even remember going to sleep at around 5.00 AM playing this with my older sister and my cousin... It's the best thing that happened to my childhood..
My record time for getting through the game is 21 minutes, but I did use whistles. If you play again after beating it, you have a bunch of flying P in your inventory. I love this game.
This reminds me of school and my youth....
"Thanks for saving me, but the hot princess is in another castle"
😂 Yeah Peach is pretty bugly on this game.
I'm 25 now and this is game is quite tough! They don't make them like they used to. I've just limped on to the airship in World 7. Brilliant game.
I played through this entire game without Warp Whistles and I never complained once about. Not even during the ending. To each his own, I suppose.
SMB3 is my all time favorite game. I never get tired of it. When I'm sick in bed, I just turn on my Wii and play through the game.
@GuitarRockGod951: The tanooki suit lets you tailspin, glide, and fly like the super leaf does, and in addition it allows you to become a statue by pressing B+down. When you're a statue you cannot be killed and you can destroy some enemies that otherwise can't be destroyed.
Legal essa batida da trilha ao enfrentar o Koppa.
Grato esta Reliquia.
Br lol
Well, holy bedknobs and ballsacks!! I never knew that you could kill those damn disco ball thingies!!
Maybe it's me but these older games were so much better than the 3d crap we have now... I grew up and miss these times... 80's/90's kid!
Brotha Jeff Nope your right.3d sucks balls for me. Give me the old games any day
3D isn't exactly garbage, just too easy. They spoil you with the easy 1UPs at each goal.
Man, I sure hope the Tanuki Statue will be in Super Mario 3D Land.
Mario 3 and Diablo 2 are the two greatest games in history
They don't make games like this anymore. Nothing can recapture the magic of this timeless classic
SMB3 is the best mario ever made to this day!!
so how do i type the codes in with the controller do
i duck behind the green bushes or something to type
codes in
i beat this game like 62 times and i still love it!!!!! i have my old nintendo and i just keep playing it!!! it brings back memories from kindergarden. i also have super mario 1 and 2, but mario 3 was my fav. for super nintendo, super mario world was awsome.
Credit sequence music is nice though..
I really wish the bowser fight was more difficult than this. Like it’s the final boss, he suppose to give me more of a challenge than all the other bosses we faced during the adventure
Actually, you can find them as early as World 4. I've got a video beating the airship there with it.
Did you know there are two ways to get to Bowser? There is another way and when you get there it has more bricks thus making it the more difficult iteration.
They were more like nuclear waffles, according to the Nerd.
this is the best video game ever created and i mean ever! there are hundreds or even thhousands of of ps1, 2,and 3, wii, xbox games not worthy of this game, yes the ending is too easy but i played when i was 8 years old and seen old bowser fall down it was so awesome and relieven i played all levels without warp wistle
Welcome to retro gaming! ^^
if im bowser and i let a plumber wearing a raccoon suit outsmart and defeat me... im pissed. lol
thumbs up for super mario bros 3 having the coolest powerups
Ah man!! I remember when I was 6 my cousin gave me his Nintendo and Mario 3 and the furthest I've ever gotten was Ice world and I never knew I was 2 worlds away from beating the game!!
Easily the second-best Star Wars, no question.
I beat this with this suit too when I made it to bowser I wss doing good after some stomps then I lost the tanooki suit BUT I WON
I didn't use a whistle as well. This ending can suck my whistle. Fuck that shit. Love you megagrey!
did anyone notice THAT EVERY WORLD NAME ALWAYS ENDS AFTER THE WORD "LAND"
+Jaden Viquez Nope, no one noticed this.
+redknight801 😂
Holy shit this was so long ago
Jaden Viquez at least there isn't a Land Land
Jaden Viquez i just realized lmao
Lost this game but , y dad foumd it I almost made it to world 7 and 8
I love the dramatic "da-da-da-da-da-da" sound after you beat Bowser. Too bad Nintendo butchered it in the All Star version.
Hammer Suit is more fun as you can actually kill him with the hammers.
When you notice that the peach sprites is practically just the sm2 sprite
Miyamoto got lazy.
@@nehemiahpouncey3607yeah, and here's the thing: There was so much space for the game's software to fit in, yet it wasn't used.

You're not half bad my dude.
@JahRasta311 LOL, I basically had the same reaction. All these years I coulda been turning into a statue there? Dang it!
I HAD NO FUCKING CLUE THE TANOOKI SUIT WAS SEPARATE FROM THE RACCOON LEAF!!!! I THOUGHT THEY WERE THE SAME THING
He's right, sometimes when running at full speed i get hit by the third laser
Ahhh I know that strategy well! I used to play this level over and over again just to sit and savor the moment of bowzer killing himself. You let him jump and he knocks the floor out and falls to his death and you don't have to do a damn thing but avoid the fire LoL ol ol ol ol ol ol ol LoL!
I never knew you could jump on bowser’s head and not take any damage.
It sadly will not work in GBA game
BRUH DID ANYONE NOTICE THAT AT 3:40 WHERE THE CASTLE IS IT’S SHAPED LIKE JAPAN
I wonder what happens if you use the statue to stomp on Bowser? I know what other areas of the game the statue could kill almost anything
3:01 This is soo romantic!
I can still play this with precision, born 1990🎮🍄
How in the world did you run past all three of those statues without getting hit in the beginning? I always get hit unless I fly or use a starman.
no way anyone is this good. you'd have to play this game nonstop to figure out all those traps and how to use the suits and stuff. you'd also have to have the nintendo power walkthrough book to find hidden areas and items since we didn't have what we have today when it comes to locating level secrets.
Do forgive me if I brush off critiques about my gaming skills from someone with wretched grammar and spelling.
megagrey lol dude i didn't say what i said in a negative fashion. i was simply in awe at the fact that you played through so well. so for that i thought to myself no one can be this good. i mean i don't even remember you even getting hit for god's sake lol
+AceTheFace954 Grew up playing this game...so many secrets. I remember watching my uncle play when I was younger, he is prolly as good as the guy in the video. lol
Pibbles 'n Bits I'm guessing he didn't play outside as much lol
Nope, was the type to ditch school and play video games lol.
Super Mario 3 is my favorite game
Holy shit can you always do the statue move with the Tanooki suit? Jesus christ what have I been missing
Only Mario game i fully beaten was Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. Very rewarded feeling when you beat the game
One of the blessings of the Tanooki Suit was being able to get rid of those stupid rotating spheres. Damn those things were annoying!
Seems as though you only got part of the answer: the statue is based on Ksitigarbha, the protector of travelers and the guardian of souls, who is based on Daigan Jizō Bosatsu.
what does the tanooki suit do exactly?
What happens if you stomp him with the statue?
That's my chilhood and was something special! Inllve this Game
that was awesome !! hopefully I would reach that point ! guys how can I make Mario fly its killing me that he doesn't fly that high even when I keep hitting the jump Button! and how could you change him from one thing to another?
You have to sprint until the P bar fills up, then just jump and flap the wing, and you will fly.
@pigaria22 No, just press down+B when you have the tanooki suit
Tanooki Suit is my favorite powerup ever.
Whats the end song called?
Este juego me hace recorda las horas y horas que lo jugaba pensé que era yo el que lo estaba jugando me recordó mi infancia
The version of fireboy and watergirl on hudgames is well-designed, I thought I was playing a hollywood movie instead,
sometimes even with the b button you will get hit by the first statue, happens sometimes, dunno why
@Strago07 Lol!! I hadn't even intended for that to come out that way!! :)
I still got all my old games 🎮. I just look on RUclips for new pointers I may not already know.
The tanooki suit is as cute as it's OP.
played this game a million times as a kid only to get far as lvl 6 or 7 world 8 before giving up.......wow
Back in the day there was a weird cheat, or glitch in the game that allowed you to select any suite you wanted in any level at anytime with the select button...
And then as the Tanooki Suit if you turned into the statue you could change into another suite with all of the statue's invincibility features, you could walk around as a grayish little Mario and you were pretty much untouchable... except you couldn't crouch or the effect would ware off...
The glitch didn't work all the time though.
Nicholas Dubiel That's the debugging function.
How do you turn into a statue? I played this when it was new and I still have it but I never knew about this.
