they nerfed Lemmy so hard in the later games, his bouncy balls actually do damage here instead of just pushing Mario back a little
true but you can still jump on them. Though i think them only bouncing mario back was a unique design in mario wii where it was an ice arena. Knocking and sliding you into the pits
Always had a hard time with wendy, roy, and ludwig when I was a kid. I was always panicking being on the ground with roy and ludwig's stomps and wendy is just torture with those rings.
Wendy was a complete you know what to beat

It’s been about 30 years, but I thought Bowser was defeated at the end by jumping on his head. I have no memory of tricking him to smash through the blocks. That just blew my mind! Did I go 30 years not knowing you could do that!? 😮

Yeah, some airships were blue and green. It's due to the NES colour palettes. If you remember, cheeps cheeps inside castles were also blue because of it.

The sound effect you hear at 1:16 -- which replaced the original whoosh sound -- was also heard when you finally defeated Wart in the All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA).
Confession I've never actually beaten the world 8
It is easier as an adult. Spare some time on a saturday morning and go world by world. There are some places where you can stock lifes if you need them (like the coin castle i think in world 7). You will get there with lots of lives, p wings and clouds. Its not that hard. You can even try the levels before skip them and see they are beatable.

A neighbour of mine had the japanese version. It seemed unbeatable when I was a kid. When I was 20 something I managed to get a copy and started playing as I told you, just for fun, with no warps. I just beat it with ease. And having experienced all the worlds and everything that is ingenious about this masterpiece, when the curtain dropped... I was alone, but I just stood up and clapped.

When I was young Roy koopa was hard because of his ground stunning ability but when I finally beat him and got to Iceland (not the country) and after a few worlds I got inraged because then I found out that Ludwig could do the same

you can’t play around too much with Ludwig he stomps as he jumps around shooting magic at you if your caught on the ground your stunned and can’t move

I wonder why the Koopalings were tougher here than in the newer versions... Is the room smaller, are they faster, is it because Mario doesn't have the wall jump and spin jump?
Probably a mix of all those reasons.
To me, it seems that they are a lot faster and jump higher, can shoot a lot more faster and move differently than the new ones.
@Lowbrow content 05 [NOT A BOT] yeah... One thing I noticed was that their wind up animation when they attack is longer in the New series, while here, well, it's basically non-existent. So, that also contributes as to why they feel more of a threat. The flooring in some of these boss rooms is also quite uneven, which hinders your ability at dodging their attacks.

Larry is the youngest, Morton is second youngest, wendy is third youngest, iggy is forth oldest, roy is third oldest, lemmy is second oldest and ludwig is oldest
