Brilliant spent 2 hrs trying to set my on /off yesterday after following the other type on video. Bit disappointed as I wanted to use it as frost protection to stop my engine block freezing on a boat whilst not on it but if it`s a count down timer I`ll have to go and keep resetting it and as my boat is 20 miles away it`s a pain . Thank you for the video though it`s helped a lot .

Thank you!! I’ve been staying in my van and just been turning it on and off when I needed.. thought my timer was broke. Tonight it will go below freezing and spending the weekend at a friends house. I don’t want my plumbing to freeze so I started researching how to get this timer to work. This makes so much sense now! I already tested it and it was a success. Let’s hope tonight it comes on when I set it for and get to the van with no plumbing issues in the morning.

Hey it's me again. I thought I'd give you an update on my progress.
I followed your instructions to a tee but I'm still having an issue.
I want to set my heater to kick on 12 hours from now. I work 12 hour shifts. So when I pull into the parking lot (on night shifts) it's around 6 pm. I set the first setting to ON for 1200 and second setting ON for 0200. Even though I manually turn the diesel heater off once my van's heater is putting out heat.
95+% of the time the timer stops counting down at 0347. Every now and then it will turn itself on at the programmed time but rarely.
Thinking this controller was defective, I bought a second controller just like it (and just like yours) with a remote. I got the remote paired and working but the timer function still stops counting down at 0347.
That was the main reason for buying a unit with a remote as a backup starter because I cannot seem to get the timer to function reliably. Do you have any ideas why the timer just shuts down about 3 hours and 15 minutes before it's programmed to start?
I did try smaller increments as a test like 5 minutes and it seems to work OK.

I have the bronze LCD display. From what I'm finding. Timer one sets when the unit turns On, like you mentioned. Timer two thought has to be set at a longer time to shit the unit off. For example. Set Timmer one to 1 hour for unit to turn on. Set timer two for 2 hours if you want the unit to run for one hour. Both timers star counting down immediately.

@Mellie's Menagerie not if you have the same controller. Also, don't let the heater idle too long. It will soot up, and you'll get an error 08. I've had to clean mine every week.

@@mrchrisknight315 define idling? Ideally I'd like it on a 3hrs on, 3 hours off cycle. Looking at one of those fingerbot things to automate it

    • @mrchrisknight315
      @mrchrisknight315 Год назад

@Mellie's Menagerie if running in automatic mode where it chases a set temp. Once it reaches the set temp, it lowers the pump and fan speed to the minimum setting. Then the casing temp goes down. If it stays below 200 celcius, it builds up soot.
So what I do is run it on high only and shut it off after it gets about 3 degrees higher than the temp I want. Then all I have to do is blow some mass air flow cleaner through the air intake and then knock out the soot in the exhaust. Otherwise, when it idles, I have to pull the glow plug and clean the little screen, and shoot some mass air flow sensor cleaner into the burn chamber.
Mind you I was mixing my diesel with Cummings winter additives. It has a cutaneous boost which is probably not good for use in a heater. The cutaneous makes the diesel not want to ignite as easy. So I'm trying no additive and then also just an antigel additive to see if it burns cleaner.

@@mrchrisknight315 mine has been running since Saturday, 24/7 on 1.3Hz. using plain white diesel. I like the idea of running carb cleaner/maf cleaner through it, I assume you do that when it's cold and not running? 🤣

    Another interesting twist.
Mine is slightly different as both my timers begin to countdown concurrently from the minute they are both set.
Here is an example of mine for what its worth.
1 on only let's me set one time.
This is this time in hours and minutes the unit will turn on counting down from the current time.
E.g if it was currently 15.00(3 in the afternoon) and I wanted it to come on at 17.00 I would have to set timer on1 to 02.00(2 hours from now)
    So 15.00 + 02.00 = 17.00(on)
If I then want it on for 1 hour then timer on2 would need to be set for 03.00(3 hours from now).
    15.00 + 3.00 = 18.00(off)
My second timer doesn't wait until the first timer has hit its start time before counting down. It starts counting down immediately along side the start countdown timer.
To check set your start and stop times. Wait 10 minutes then go back and see if both times have decreased by 10 minutes.
Obviously just different firmwares in the units.

Thanks for your video. I would have never figured this out on my own!
I tested it and now kicks on after programmed.
For some odd reason, as I am fiddling with it, the clock stops keeping time and defaults to 0 minutes.
So after I mess with the timer, the clock has lost a minute or two.
Not a big deal but I would be nice for the clock to display an accurate time just to know if I am running late for work.
I work 12 hour swing shifts so I just set it for 11:45 minutes after getting out of my van.
That will ensure the heater has ran for at least 30 minutes to properly heat the interior.
I'm just using this heater to warm my van up then I turn it off once the coolant has reached NOT.
Here's my installation. I've since lengthened the hose from the filter to the pump so the filter is now perfectly vertical. I found if the filter is mounted off a bit it will form an air pocket and force bubbles through the lines.

Is the heater thermostat in the panel - I want to extend the cable...

I find the heater will not turn it off once it reaches the set temperature. Did you have the same problem?

I'm afraid you're right. We'd expect it to shut on and off automatically as if it were thermostatically controlled, but it doesn't. It'll keep running until you or the timer shut it off, regardless of the temperature of the room.

I have a different Display than the one he is showing here. I couldn't even get the Settings button to do anything at all... I could get the heater to come on and off Manually...but that's about all. Then, I unhooked the electrical connector and tried again...the Settings button now works after holding it for 2 seconds...but my Display is also different...it only shows 3 numbers....so no 1688 Password for Advances Settings.... This RUclips video shows a little about the Display that I have.... I Hope it helps you out !

I only have the option to set the time with three number places. I don't know what to do
Mine won't even allow me to prime the pump, I have to keep turning it on and off and then it finally came on. When I press the Ok button and the down button it just takes me to the time setting but like I said I only have the numbers and there should be four to do a complete accurate time. But after I set the time it just brings me back to the same thing, no ability to prime the fuel pump. I'm very confused. Also my clock is in a different place than yours its right above where the numbers are in the top middle of the screen. any help would be much appreciated. thank you

Prime the Pump....Hold the Up and Down arrows at the same time.
      Try this video...it helps a little !

I know this is a old video but has anyone had a issue when you set the countdown timer and it must freeze. For example time 2200 set timer for 0700 so at 0500 it should start however I come out to the van sometimes no heater running check screen time is fine but countdown timer still has 0345 before heater starts. Other times I come out it does what it’s meant to and is running I have replaced the controller no change. Batteries in van are fully charged all wiring etc fine. Hmmmm

Another commenter described the same issue. It freezes at 0347 for them. It seems like a bug in the firmware of.the controller. Don't have any information outside of that, sorry.

Can the panel with an on and off timer be swapped out?

You can buy the LCD controller separately on eBay. But I'm not sure how the model numbers match up.
I might do some research and make another video....

@@Neo_Nomad. yeah I've only just bought one and wired it up to my workshop, got the all in one version but I'd rather just set it to come one at like 6am before I arrive so it's toasty
