Diesel Heater New Type Controller

  • After installing my Chinese Diesel Heater I found the LCD screen was different to the common one shown on RUclips. Instructions were not very clear so I went through all button combinations with help from the instructions I had to work out what buttons do what.
    While there is no clock display on this LCD screen, timers are quite accurate when times are set.

    Thanks for posting this video. I’ve been researching diesel heaters for a few weeks and I finally decided to buy one. I received and hooked it up and the controller was abnormal. All of the videos I saw in the past were of the old controller. Thanks again for this video!

    Like so many others here, your presentation was absolutely helpful. It helped that you illustrated the difference between the earlier controller and the one I now have. Before, I was looking for the signal bars that no longer exist on the newer controller. Your steps worked perfectly, even for my second controller. I really think they keep changing up these controllers to keep us foreigners constantly confused! Good job!

Works like a charm.
    Do you know by any chance if there are any other type of controllers that are suitable for this heater?

  • @GloucesterLGB
    @GloucesterLGB Год назад

    I have this control on the 3rd 5KW all-in-one (red slim case) I bought in January 2023 from VEVOR. The two physically identical heaters I bought before in 2021 and 2022 had what was called "new Blue-style controller" with the elapsed- time. I do not like this control - NOT because it's in any way difficult to use, but because it connects to completely differently-programmed controller!
    This controller start-up routine idles the fan super low, and turns on the glow plug. When the plug reaches temp, it does a fan pulse with 3-shoots of fuel from the pump and then drops the fan speed back again. Then starts pumping the normal H3 pump rate before gradually increasing the fan speed to a high rate. This results in too much fuel and white smoke during start up and a fuel smell escaping from the air intake for about 5-10 seconds - until the flame in the burner can be heard noticeably increased and the glow plug goes out. After that, the fan comes up to a mid-range blowing lukewarm air until it reaches operating temp at H3 by default and the blower settles in. At shutdown the glowplug comes back on and the fan is slowed to almost stop - running at idle for about a minute or so - apparently with the idea of allowing the additional the burner chamber to burn off more unburned fuel residue. Then after hearing the exhaust pipe ticking from the heat, the fan finally comes back up to a useable speed to complete the cooldown.
    The identical unit with the earlier "New Blue Controller" did not attempt to reach near overheat conditions by virtually shutting off the fan on an already hot burner chamber with a lit glowplug. Instead it turned the glowplug on with the blower going immediately to a high speed until cooldown was completed. During startup, the fan ran at a slow but still functional CFM while the glowplug was on. On reaching ignition temperature the pump was started at a high rate, the fuel ignited and the fan speed was increased to force more air through the chamber. The result was no exhaust backflow and faster operating temperature air discharged from the outlet.
    I do not prefer this new style controller at all. However, it is both the controller and controlboard (and possibly the harness wiring) that would have to be retrofit to convert it to the timer-type Blue controller. (Unfortunately this same controller format with "H3" on the display is also being sold in the original blue controller shell! It is not to be confused with the black or blue "00:00" ones!) The start-up and shutdown procedures programmed into this "H3" controller do not compare favorably against the "00:00". This was not an improvement.😠

    Great video Mic, thanks. This is the best tutorial for these 'new' controllers. I got one of these with my '8'kW heater from Vevor recently. It works well but there are some doubts as to the effectiveness of the Temperature control mode in cutting back the burn rate once temperature is reached. There is a secret menu if you long press OK and On/Off buttons. It brings up a 3 digit PIN code screen but so far I don't think anyone has hacked it yet. To try and reduce coking do you agree with running it at a lower heat setting (not over H3) and in Alpine mode? To get the combustion chamber staying hotter as there is less airflow over it. I realise the pump speed and fan speed automatically adjust. But what else can we do? Crazy the “new” model doesn’t let you adjust pump speed! I seem to only get 10hr before the atomiser basket in wrecked.

      @@andeyweiI share your disappointment. It seems this heater is designed for high heat requirements. I might suggest moving to South Dakota. On a more serious note, I did discover to make it run a little cooler, although I do not know if it will adversely effect the heater, I ran mine there for a short time. My altitude is 1200ft, but switching to mountain mode, will make it run slightly cooler. Press both left buttons and hold. Then by pressing ok to monitor heat exchanger temp. May have to hit ok till you get to right one.

    Thank you, very good information just got mine installed with this type of controller. Would you by chance know what altitude would be advisable to use high altitude?

    • @2005mic
      @2005mic  Год назад +1

      Not really but probably above 2000ft. Won't hurt to run it in alpine mode last time you use it before storing it as it will burn off any accumulated soot in the unit

    • @SpikeRess
      @SpikeRess Год назад +1

      In that case I think I should always run it on Alpine mode as I live 6,000 ft and travel from 4:00 to 8,000 ft altitude. Thanks for the information you've put forth here.

    I already had two of these heaters with the blue display. Working as expected, I'm fully satisfied with them. They heat up to 210 - 212 Celcius on level 8. Then I bought another one and it has this black oblong display. Turns out this has only six levels in stead of eight. Np problem, but this heater does not get hotter than 184 Celcius. Is there a way to crank it up higher to at least 200 Celcius?

      I have same question. Is the black one too dumb to improve? Blue one and its ECU much hotter.

    Hi Mic, is there anyway of showing Hz on the display? If not is there a way to work out what H-1 is in Hz so I can work out the diesel usage. Is H-1 equal to 1Hz and H-2 equal to 2Hz etc etc
    Thanks
    Dave.

    • @2005mic
      @2005mic  Год назад +1

      Hz is not available on this controller. To work out usage you would need to wait till heater has come to temp on each of the H1-H6 settings, count the pump pulses for 1 minute, and multiply by pump delivery amount, 0.02ml. Hope that helps

      @@2005mic thanks Mic, sure does.I get it to 144lml /hr on H1 (2pulses per second)

    Does this mean alpine mode would give you better economy if it's using less fuel, or would this also mean the temperature will not climb as high? Any ideas?
    Thanks for the video

    • @2005mic
      @2005mic  Год назад +2

      Alpine mode will use less fuel but may give an incorrect fuel/air (run lean) mix at low altitudes

    Thank you very much for your informative video.
    QUESTION. Last night I tried firing up the unit but I didn't understand the buttons at that point, consequently I seemed to have over-primed the unit and when I set it in motion and it went into the heat stage I had an absolute smoke screen outside the van.
    I shut down the unit and I'm not a bit lost as to restarting the unit!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated... Cheers Brian

      Yes machine is flooded. Run it in alpine mode and let it run till smoke clears. I'm assuming it was white smoke. Alpine mode reduces amount of fuel it pumps
