Best video I've found. Got me going again. Thanks.
Glad it helped..
That makes sense then. Thank you for your fantastic video.
Fantastic help thank you. Clear instructions on how to set my new diesel heater up. The only thing I could’nt see covered was the process for changing the original hz setting for the temperature to degrees C. I was lost before watching your video
Here you go dude... ruclips.net/video/NhKU4AIt4jM/видео.html
Thanks for this, I've been searching for a guide , really useful and explains all the symbols etc😊
Have installed 2 Chinese heaters 5Kw in caravans. After 3 years I am completely satisfied. My caravan heats up quickly. After a year I had to replace the fuel hose that comes with it, a silicone hose. Bought a 3mm hydraulic hose white and from the tank that is installed in the trunk along the front to the heater along the back, the distance is 6m. It is important not to use the silicone hose that comes with the purchase, it cannot withstand diesel and cold/winter and starts to crumble. Then at the joints to the tank, pump, heater you use black reinforced fuel hose that you use in cars.
Have tested the heating last winter when it was -11 degrees outside, took 30 minutes to get 18 degrees plus in the caravan. I don't usually prime the heater and if you have fuel in the tank, no priming is required. Also buy better hose clamps that last. Remember to be careful during the installation and in my case it usually takes 5-6 hours depending on the caravan type, you should also run the power cable directly from a battery with the right area depending on the cable length, as well as a fuse on the battery's + pole. Used to free camp and has 2 100W solar panels with 230V inverter and never run out of power. In addition, you avoid using LPG.
Very informative, thank you
Glad it helped 👍
hi , great vid , just wondering have u ever heard of the controller settings access fail , ? i cannot get into the settings to adjust fuel/hrz rpm etc , maybe this is a cheap generic controller (comes with heater) that hasn't got that feature > thanks ( mine has a cog symbol not wrench) cheers
Yes you are absolutely correct. Some of the cheap heaters have a controller that cannot have the settings adjusted. However, it is very, very easy to swap out the motherboard and controller and this video shows you how to do it. The. Note you have to swap them out as a pair as it's a different motherboard that is associated with the controller. You can adjust the settings on. ruclips.net/video/sDwrHozKInc/видео.html
@@campervan_hackers thankyou for the info 👍
Very helpful, thank you.
Cheers bud.. hope all goes well.
I think I need to replace my replacemnt LCD unit as I keep on getting random E-07 error - lost communication.
Wiggle the cables going in to the unit it fires up again.
Now, I do have it as a "roaming" unit that I can move around in my small poptop caravan that I live on the road here in Australia
Before I buy a new unit I will mount the unit on a small piece of plywood or summat similar and stabilise the cable input
Very informative and clear video. Thank you
Just the video I was looking for
Glad it was of help 👍
Well done.
Mine is the same but to go through the menu is totally different
Thanks for the video it’s much easier when it’s explained, can the heater be left on to maintain a set temp in a workshop through the winter ?
Hi, though I use my heaters on and off in both my camper van and my workshops there have been loads of people posting on the channel that they leave theirs running 24/7 so there should not be an issue... just don't run out of juice.😁
Brilliant videos..Any idea why I can’t seem to pair my new replacement to a lost remote. I’ve pressed the power and down arrow. Changed it to OC2. There is a new battery in the remote and the remote is showed a red led light when button is pressed but will not pair …
Sorry for the delay I've only just seen this. Assuming you have the same controller then the instructions in this video below might help. However, I have bought a couple of remotes owned to find they are defective so it might be simply you have a defective remote. ruclips.net/video/GpWa_koF9CU/видео.html
Thanks for info - having trouble with ours. It comes up with 433 ??? and on another setting 5.0d - trying again tomorrow to set it, will let you kmow how we get on!
Can I Bluetooth if so what program and how please
Thnx for the link,
With restarts does it matter if the battery source has been disconnected for a period of time ? Mine has been set up previously to run off an external battery box which isnt connected all the time, , thnx for the info, heaps easier to understand then the instructions that came with my van
No, you can switch the power off but you will just lose any time settings you have set on your clock. In fact, I have an isolation switch on mine and I shut the power off completely when I'm not using the heater. I don't care about losing the time because I have plenty of clocks in my phone!. Actually, it's not a bad thing to do because those LCD displays tend to fade over time if they're powered up all the time. If you do go down that route though make sure the isolation switch cannot be accidentally triggered when the heater is on full chat as these heaters need to go through a proper cooldown mode before they are switched off.
@@campervan_hackers thanks
Hi, I've just bought my first CDH, and have plans for extracting as much energy from the fuel as I can. I have designed the outline plan for a heat exchanger, so I'd like to know typical maximum and minimum temps for air inlet and outlet. Many folk on YT show them shining their I/R thermometers at the aluminium heat-extractor, but what I need is typical air temps away from the ali casting. Cheers!
Ha!... to be honest... I am also shining the IR thermometer on the heat exchanger.... never really measured the heat directly at the outlet of the heater. BUT... I am about to kick off another project so will do just that. 😊
The air inlet for the burner can be noisy, try fitting a exhaust silencer, note the difference. I was experimenting with my 2nd heater a 8kw. The supplied black silencer for air inlet had nothing inside, could hear air rush in. So i place a exhaust silencer over intake and dramatic reduction in intake noise. Not seen anyone try this. I will mod my van heater intake.
Yep... that was just in my workshop playing. That particular unit is now in my van and has an intake silencer as well as an exhaust muffler. In fact, just swapped to the no so-called 'upgraded' exhaust that is making the rounds at the moment.
@@campervan_hackers Yes have the box silencer, bit quieter. What did was place the exhaust silencer, the tin plate type on the inlet, reduces the noise there also. I have a new 8kw, the supplied inlet silencer is not much good, nothing inside it. So i tried the supplied tin exhaust silencer made quite a difference.
What error code might one expect if air trapped in fuel line? E-01? ~7:00 into video. At what point is maximum amp draw reached? After pump engages but before glow plug goes out? Great video, esp the annotations.
If you get air trapped in the line, you may get an E8 (flame out/ ignition fail error).. Max battery draw is at start up and shut down when the glow plug is live.. this short vid shows the draw through the cycle, (it is using a rotary but the principle applies to all controllers) ruclips.net/video/BmyxEsE-Ysg/видео.html
Thanks, really helpful video, however, how do you gry the display to turn off? The van has been parked up for 3 days so far but the display is still illuminated.
@@stephanies6716 really glad it has helped. However for that particular display, regrettably it does not turn off. Some people have mounted their display so they can take it out of the holder flip it round and put it back in so the display is not keeping them awake at night. Others have just made a little cardboard blind to go over the top but alas on that particular display you can't turn it off.
Oh that's a shame, I guess I'm just going to come back to a flat battery then 😢. Thanks again though
The display itself uses very little juice. It will take a long time to flatten your battery but if you are leaving your van without using it and the heater isn't running then it might be worth putting an isolation switch between your battery and the heater. That's what I've done as have many people but mount it in a place where you can be sure you don't accidentally turn off while the heater is running.
Very helpful video, so firstly thank you. I think my timer must be set, but didn't set it. I have only just installed the unit it's like yours in the video but I've had it for nearly 3 years. I never set the timer but I walked out to the van this morning and it was going but it wasn't warm, how do I turn it off the timer please mate, and why would it not be hot, does it need to be primed before start every time? Thank you
For clarity are you saying that it appeared to turn itself on but just blow cold air?
@@campervan_hackers Yeah mate, that's exactly what happened. Not sure how long it was running for but we didn't turn it on and the wife walked in this morning to pack some stuff as we are going away and it was on
@@geoffstein3896 okay dude... that sounds like the heat exchanger temperature sensor has gone down. Very cheap and easy to fix... here is the vid...ruclips.net/video/emurWyN51jY/видео.html

Sounds like the body temperature sensor. Check out this video.. ruclips.net/video/emurWyN51jY/видео.htmlsi=Ct7f4k51QHLckMPQ
Fantastic videos. What brand heater are you using that has the six fan blades. I am using my heater in a greenhouse and time on time off setting would be helpful.
Hi Steve ... glad you found the videos useful. That particular one I bought about seven years ago off of ebay was quite simply an unbranded heater shipped out by a box shifter who put all the other bits and pieces together and has absolutely no branding on it at all. However, being the nerd I am aI took it to bits and found some labels inside most of which were just inspection labels but I did find one that was the name of the company. I went I went on their website ... they were actually mostly serving the Chinese military! I think I had a bit of good luck on that one because they claim to have Conformité Européenne (CE) and showed a picture of their certification on their website. Initially, I was sceptical but I found the name of the company on the Conformité Européenne register, downloaded the certificate and sent it to the certification body which confirmed that they had validated that machine to Conformité Européenne standards. One thing to be aware of if you're looking for a timer is that although you can set a turn-on and turn-off time, it only operates for one cycle. You have to set it every day which is a real pain sometimes.
Hi can you tell me what the signal symbol means in the top left corner?
It's the signal to the remote control. When you operate the remote it flashes to confirm communication
How do you turn off the display. My diesel heater display tends to stay on.
Regrettably you can't without going into the controller and hacking the feed to the display
It's a real pain. Some people have cut a piece of card to go over the display at night and depending how you mount it you can take it out of its holder turn it around and put it back in so the display is faced away from you.
How do I clear the settings so I can start over. Please
Hi... are you referring to the time setting and temperature settings? If so, you don't actually clear them down... you overwrite them. Having said that, once the cycle of the timer has passed, it clears itself which is actually a pain. It means you must set the timer every time you want to use it even if the start stop times remain unchanged.
Hi, I’ve connected mine up to an old car battery which I charged up but it doesn’t have much juice and it gets drained before it can even get going properly. Once it’s going does it start to charge the battery or do I need to get a better battery and somehow find a way to keep that battery charger with a solar panel or something? It’s in a caravan not connected to a power source. Cheers
Hey, i cant figure out how to set on off time. It only has a count down timer
There is a controller out there that looks very similar but has different logic and only has a countdown timer. It sounds like you might have that but you can tell for sure if the little fan icon on your controller has three blades instead of 6 as in the controller shown in the video
Once the timer is set, how long will the heater run for? Is there a way to cut it off automatically? Thanks
Yes, have a run through the video again. You'll see there is a start time and a stop time. But that is just for the six fan blade icon controller. There is also a three fan blade out there. That one is different. On that one you set the start time and then how long you want it to run for.
My battery sign on my screen is flashing green? Confused
eeek! I too am confused. I've not seen that on any of the three different types of controllers I've used and my assumption would be that it might be indicating a low battery. However, if it's firing up and working okay I could rather be wrong. Have you tried checking the battery condition?
I'm trying to get my heater working on the temperature target mode. I follow the same steps you go though. I see the current temp screen but when I click again it goes to the fuel amount screen and does not show the temperature target screen? Does my heater not have that capability or am I missing something? I also tried my buddies heater and it's the exact same as mine. Both look like yours does.
Mmmm interesting... That is a different controller and alas, I have not come across it. For clarity... the little fan icon... does it have 6 blades or 3 or 5?
@campervan_hackers mine has 6 blades, just like yours, when I go to the target temp it goes to screen that says 2.4...any help /ideS are appreciated
Hi I done what you said on your video turn it on an a few seconds it read a code6
Hi... Code 6 is a motor error... can you hear the fan scraping on the casing by any chance? Also.. check that the magnet on the fan blade is in position as this is used to talk to the controller.
@@campervan_hackers I had a look at the fan when I started it up there was a slight rubbing I pull the fan out a bit and turn it back on an the code was gone ..😅 thanks for that ..
@@alaniddles3671 Well done mate. Glad I was of help.👍
Thank you. My issue is I can’t even figure out how to set the time, first screen. Mine doesn’t show that, it just shows the temperatures. Any thoughts on that?? Thank you so much.
There is an odd controller out there that looks the same but it's a little bit different. The clue is in the heater icon on the display. If it has three blades instead of 6 it is a different controller....
@@campervan_hackershmm the heater icon looks the same! I just don’t have a clock on the left side. And don’t know how to make it pop up.
@@user-dl2qu4rs1c eeek... If your heater icon definitely has six blades and not three blades then I'm stumped...Soz! 😔
Alas no... not with that controller. However, you can build a text switch to turn it on and off with your phone... Step by Step vid: ruclips.net/video/H-OJwxglf2c/видео.html
Ive got mine running in my garage to keep things aired out the minimum i can get down to is 8 will it go any lower in any settings. Say 4 degrees thanks 👍🏻
Hi Tim, The problem with these heaters is that the little controller has a very wide hysteresis so it's a struggle to get down to low temperatures in a small insulated environment. Consequently, I tend to run mine on manual mode rather than thermostatic mode now and you might want to give that a try If you have a compatible controller. In case you don't know how to switch to manual mode this short video might help.. ruclips.net/video/NhKU4AIt4jM/видео.html
@campervan_hackers thanks for your reply. Just another query. Can the timer be made to repeat. Having to to turn it back on every day. Set number 1 for time on time off. Only worked for one night.
Hi.. regret no... a real pain... has to be set each time . @@timwilson8553 😒
Can you offer any guidance as to what I need to do if the glow plug light doesn’t come on?
Tricky one... Is it just the glow plug indicator on the display that doesn't illuminate... Or is it also the case that the glow plug itself doesn't fire up and ignite the juice?
Both. I’ve tested the resistance of the plug which is down to 0.5 and fitted a new one. Same story.
I’m assuming there is something I’m missing in the setup.
I’ve ordered a rotary controller to try.
Yep... could be the ECU.... I assume you have the 6-blade fan icon controller... the rotary is compatible with the ECU that uses the 6-fan blade. Let me know how it goes...
Yup 6 blade display. So I might be into a new motherboard too :-(
I’ll fit the analogue controller and shall report back.
Thanks for your reply’s.
Why my Vevor heater goes to high voltage error 02 when battery voltage is 12.4 Volts. Specifications saying it should work between 10.5V to 16 Volts.
Hi... eeek... can't help there... 12.4v is a sweet spot on my heater... cannot see why you have an issue but maybe others might offer up some help.
Did you find the fix...? Just got mine and it's making my ecoflow mini throw overload warning ⚠ after like 50 seconds of running....
Can you turn the screen off? It’s so bright :-)
Alas no... some of the models 'dim' after a while but the one I have in my van does not. So, I have an isolation switch for when I am not using the heater... and a very high-tech piece of card I place over the screen when I am! Depending on how you have your mounted.. you might be able to turn it around and mount it in the holder backwards.
My control panel flashes E-01 any ideas ? Thanks
Hi... that code is usually associated with undervoltage. Ensure that your battery is fully charged and also healthy. The heater draws quite a bit of juice on start up and the battery needs to be able to deal with those first 3 or 4 minutes while the glow plug is alive. If your heater is in a vehicle you could try starting the engine that charges the battery you are using whilst you do the startup. Finally some of the generic heaters have cables that are a bit thin for any distance and you might want to swap those out to something a little bit thicker.
@@campervan_hackers thanks
Hi, yes when van is running the heater starts up. As I've put leisure batteries on trickle charge to fully charge but when i started the diesel heater without the van running it still wouldn't charge., E-01.
So I'm assuming it's time to change the leisure batteries ???
Yes, it looks like things point that way.... starting when the van is running was the give-away.@@paul2241xx
What GO button?
The start button is the middle one on the right of the display
My chinese heater has 6 input buttons not 5. Every RUclips help vid on these heaters show only 5. Any input here is appreciated.
Does one of the buttons have DEF marking or a petrol (gas) pump symbol?
@@campervan_hackers it's not very clear but does look like a petrol fuel handle. Instructions say nothing about it. Pressing it does nothing, no changes noted on the dig. display. I find that pressing the menu and OK buttons give inconsistent responses. No way to adjust timer, set time function as well as set temperature parameters -- can't get these ro list. Think the controller is not working properly.
I have seen that controller before but regret I have no indication on how it operates. I seem to recall that petrol pump button was supposed to be for DEF injection but I cannot see the relevance of that for a Chinese diesel heater so alas I'm afraid I'm of no use to you. A replacement motherboard and controller is about 30 quid and that might be your best bet. Make sure you get the one with the six blades on it as they are the favourite controller.@@charlesbernard3042

When you look at the display, does the little fan on the heater have 3 blades or 6? If it has 3 then you have a slightly different controller than the most common one and not all the settings are the same.

What does one of these heaters cost US dollars?
Yep.. the problem is, that these are domestic units sold by 'box shifters'.. there is no attention to instructions for good international language instructions.. hence I did the video after working it out. Here in the UK these heaters vary a bit but are around £100
