Glad I can help! I'm sure you know this, but just make sure you get the transmission from an 07+ since the HR cars have a different one from the DE's. Otherwise the process is the same. Good luck with the swap! It's well worth it.
Hi Dillon It’s a great video I did the manual swap to my 2006 350z my car won’t start, i did everything, but the car just crank and won’t start, sometimes takes around 4-6 to fire up, I replaced crank sensor and I double check my flywheel but still won’t start.
Sounds like a beautiful build my friend, just traded my Lexus LS with an eaton supercharged with 316 to the wheels but it had that nasty four speed 🥴, got a e30 now
Very good video my friend! You gave me hope and motivation to build my G. I got an '07 Infiniti G35 auto and will be manual swapping it in the future. You think it will be almost same process? Thanks a lot!
Hi, I know the video is from 2 years ago. But you didn't considered keeping the AT and remap it for track use? There are few ways to make it much quicker and with the paddle shifter it's worth it. Unless you will do drift only of course.
Hi there man again :D ! I have this one issue after making it MT from AT ! engine cranks perfectly, everything works perfectly, but sometimes/most of the times the car just wont start, it cranks, but engine doesnt start up, IF it does it does from one and half of a crank, and when it was AT there was no issue with starting, so as i read something about crank or cam sensors ,i doubt that thats the case. Like for example, it can start from first turn of the key ,and it can start only on 15th turn of the key sometimes, the key turn amount might variate, but most of the times ,it takes some time to turn key on and of when it goes further than just cranking.
Hey man nice video on the swap. I did a swap on the 2006 g35 coupe so I need help with the wiring to start the car. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
Hey sorry for the slow response, RUclips doesn't seem to want to notify me of comments and I forget to check. If you haven't already, check out my follow-up video on this for the clutch safety switch wiring. Since your G35 is wired the same as my Z in this respect, just follow the process for the 2004.5+ that I detailed in the video. Hope this helps!
Hey Dillon, nice video going through the empty streets in Denver, I live up in Thornton. But anyway here is where I’m at with my g35. It had blown motor so I replaced motor with the 6 mt. So I did the wiring like on your video for the car to start but it cranks over but won’t start. Like the fuel pump is not turning on and my anti-theft light ( red one on the dash) is constantly on. Any idea what can I do to get it started. Like how I can reset my anti-theft system. My guess that’s why the fuel pump is not working. Thanks.
@@iPhone-wm2qccv you're probably right about the anti-theft being the reason it's not starting. Unfortunately, I have no idea what exactly is needed to bypass that though. I'm assuming a Nissan shop or someone with the right software can take care of it for you though. Sorry I'm not more help. Good luck, though!
Ok thanks for the reply. When ever I’ll get it started I’ll write another reply what I had to do so if anyone else needs help, they can read what I did.
Hello, I have an 06 350Z, which is VQ35DE 5AT, 280hp, I'm going to a single turbo on it, with Transgo kit, I got few questions and since I live in Brazil is veryvery very hard to see people who understand of this car, even on forums like my350z My biggest problem is the transmission, I was looking for another transmission to put in, but in Brazil we pay 100% import tax over the product + shipping price, so if 2k usd for the cd009 + 500 shipping I pay 2500 + 2500 usd. Usually people wage here is 120 to 200 a month, of course I'm not like those peoples but I'm not rich if I put my money in USD's So basically I have 2 questions to know where should I run: 1- Any other transmission that I could find to swap even if I need adapt few things? Like Nissan Frontier 6MT? Which year could be good? Or any other? 2- How much power can the 350z 2006 5AT transmission handle with Transgo? I was looking for 500whp or something close to it, you think the transmission with transgo will handle that? Or should I jump for a swap ( but there is not even one 350z transmission to sale in whole Brazil ) I'm sorry for taking your time but I had nobody else to ask those things...
Reverse light video isn't going to happen, but it's not complicated. Reverse position switch just needs to be wired into the original trans harness. As for the park/neutral code, have you wired up the PNP (park/neutral position) switch? That switch sends a 12V signal to the ECM whenever the trans is not in park or neutral. If it's not wired, the car thinks its always in park/neutral and can get confused (but shouldn't affect drivability). I'm not doing a video on that either, but once again, not complicated.
@@DillonSmith1 Im using a manual harness along with the same year manual ECU. I have not wired the pnp and reverse light because I honestly don't know how to wire them. From what I was told if you use the manual harnesd you don't need to wire up the pnp switch.. if you can help me by briefly telling me where I wire it I will greatly appreciate it currently im throwing a p0850 code My Z is 07
Hey I got a 03 g35 just picked up a donor 05 manual, the mechanical side seem straight toward but I’ve been getting talks about the ecu, the NATS and other electronics I may need to worry about
The electronics are pretty straightforward too. I have another video on how to wire the clutch interlock switch to get the car started after the swap if you choose to not swap the harness and ECU. There's a bit more simple wiring involved to get reverse lights and cruise control if you go this route. Some people are getting a SES light once the TCM is disconnected as well, so these are all things you should consider.
Hey man, I just swapped mine and I have this problem where it would sometimes not start. I’m more than sure it’s an electrical problem if you could help give some feedback that’d be amazing. Great video by the way
Hey thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I would just double check your wiring that you did for the clutch interlock/safety switch or bypass. Make sure the 12V source is a consistent one and that all connections are sound. That's pretty much the only thing involved in the swap that could affect the starting (unless the crank sensor was damaged in the process).
The 350Z has a hand-operated parking brake, so I didn't have to change anything with it. In a G35 it looks like you just need to source the parking brake setup from a 6MT car.
It really depends on what parts you get and where you get them. I did mine for around $1200, and I'd say that's about middle of the road for what you can do it for. I've seen it done for $700-800, but I don't think that was with a CD009 transmission since they're typically a bit more expensive to source (mine was $500).
Depends on the transmission you end up getting. You can find one from a 2003-2004 for something like $300, but if you go for a CD008 or CD009 from a 2005-2006 you'll probably end up paying $500+ (stronger transmissions). I can't tell you what it would cost for someone else to do it, but expect to pay for 10-20 labor hours (depending on the shop).
is there any way you can send me a picture or video of how you reinforced the clutch pedal i’m doing the swap now i just want to know how you did cuz i have no idea. please and thank you!!! it’s a great video tutorial :)
I'm away from the car right now, so it'll be a while before I can. But I basically just took a piece of 1 inch flat steel bar and bolted it to the top of the clutch pedal bracket on one end, then to a solid surface (I don't remember exactly where) on the other end. I had to make a couple of simple bends in the piece for it to work, but it wasn't complicated at all.
Hey man best vid ive seen by far for this swap! Could you give me a rough estimate on how much this costs, and also do you have any idea how to do the wiring for the 2008 350z? Thanks in advance!
Hey, thanks bud. I posted a Part 2 video to this that details the clutch wiring, if that helps. I did the math on how much I spent on parts in that one too, but I think it was something like $1200?
Hi Dillon, i have done the MT swap last couple of weeks, have the rhd 2003 skyline 350gt. Everything now is mechanically done. I am still using the 5AT harness and ECU. Went to jumper 12v+ to the terminal 43 on IPDM (grey red wire) it cranked perfectly but no start / fire. It is as though the immobiliser is preventing it. I havent wired anything to the neutral safety switch on gearbox or grounded it in anyway. Should i do this?? Did diagnostic and it is saying P1614 NATS malfunction. Cannot understand as prior to swap it started everytime first time even having left it with dead battery for a year. no other codes, i dont believe the crank sensor, or camshaft would be a problem. Any thoughts??
Where did you get the 12v source from? A lot of 12v wires are shut off while cranking. Also, I can't confirm that terminal 43 is the correct one on a 350GT, but I would assume so, so that's probably not the issue. You shouldn't have to wire the neutral safety switch to get it to start (I didn't). I would try running a jumper wire straight from the battery's positive terminal to your terminal 43 just to see if that works. You'll at least be able to narrow down to if your 12v source is or isn't the issue.
Quick question. What are you using to lift the car up in order to be high enough to pull out the transmission? My jack and jack stands don’t seem to lift the 350Z high enough to actually roll the trans out from under that car. Any help is much appreciated
I actually just used some leftover rubber sheet that I cut to fit snug around the lower shifter boot (the rubber one) and riveted it to the transmission tunnel and sealed it with silicone. I got the rubber sheet in a big roll from Home Depot a while back to use as the surface for my workbench. It's like 3 or 4mm thick and worked perfectly for this.
Thanks for the video I have a 2 question about the reverse lights switch plug . How did you make it work with the manual transmission and did the car go into limp mode?
On the switch, one wire needs to be connected to switched power (like the o2 sensor fuse terminal). I got mine from the footwell fuse box since it's close. The other wire needs to run to the fuse box that's right next to the battery. The plug that is in the bottom right hand corner has the wire that you'll need to splice into. That wire is the top left wire of the plug. Go to www.nicoclub.com/FSM/350Z/coupe/2005/pg.pdf and scroll down to page 26. The plug you're looking for is E9 and the wire is 53. Hope this helps, but let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck with the swap. Have fun and take your time.
@@DillonSmith1I have a couple questions more where did you get your transmission from? And the center console can you just swap one from a manual car and it fits? Thank you for the information
@@joseb7196 I got my transmission from a local guy who buys wrecked Nissans to part out. And yes, the center console can just be swapped with one from a manual car.
I want to correct what I said in my first reply. Initially, I said to use the cigarette lighter fuse to get the switched power. Turns out this won't work, so I just got it from the oxygen sensor fuse instead.
@@DillonSmith1 Thanks for explaining all the process is going to help a lot I'm still looking for a transmission to start the swap but still don't find a good deal. How's the car running with the transmission no problems at all?
Thanks to you I was able to source out everything on facebook marketplace and ebay for about 500 bucks total, thank you for making this video, one question I have is what size hole did you cut for the master cylinder?
That's awesome, glad I could help in some way. 500 for everything is ridiculously cheap ( I paid that just for my CD009). For the master cylinder, I used a 32mm (1 1/4") hole saw. I did have to do a tiny bit of work on it with the Dremel, but I think that had more to do with my centering of the hole between the stud holes. Good luck with the swap!
@@DillonSmith1 thank you! Thankfully here in Florida we have a very good car scene so sourcing used parts off salvaged z's was not difficult and alot cheaper than if I would've bought everything brand new, and going with cd01 saved me alot of money, and awesome, in the process of getting the transmission back in so I'll keep that hole size in mind, thanks again!
Very informative, doing this conversion on RHD 350GT. at which point did you reinstall the crankshaft position sensor, did it go into the same location? does it have have to be adjusted for manual?? Also did you have to TDC the engine for flywheel install??
Crank sensor goes back in the exact same way, no adjustment for the manual swap. I would recommend reinstalling it once you're done bleeding the clutch line as it can get in the way a bit. Your flywheel will have guide holes for an indicator pin on the crank that only allows it to bolt up the correct way, so you shouldn't have to worry about TDC.
Hey Dillon, amazing video man! I do have a question for you, I noticed your car is the DE version, will the HR version have the same process? Hope you respond to old videos but thanks a lot! :)
Hey man, thanks for the kind words. To my knowledge, the process should be pretty much the exact same on an HR 350Z. Just make sure you get a transmission and clutch set from an HR, as they're different from the DE's. They have an internal slave, so the external versions won't work. Come to think of it, you may need a different clutch fluid line as well because of that.
This is what i've been needing for my g35 on my channel. what did you do about the speedo cluster? isnt it different from auto to manual? i got everything except a manual speedo. great job by the way i cant wait to get started on my swap.
It is different, but I'm still using the auto cluster. The main difference is that the screen is just blank now and there's no shift light. I have a cluster from a manual that I may end up swapping over at some point, but for the time being the original is serving the purpose just fine.
You can definitely tune the stock ECU, if that's what you mean. You can buy pre-flashed ECU's or have someone flash yours if you can go without it for a bit (see UpRev and others like them), or you can get a proper dyno tune for the best results.
Hi, i just did my 6speed swap on my 03 350z and i got a CEL, how did yo wire the neutral switch? Code reader says U1001 U1000 , something to do whit CAN BUS system and DTC
Dam I miss that sound from my 350z I’m gonna get another one soon was thinking bout doing this I found one for a steal but it’s kinda a lot of work I’m not to crazy of a mechanic
Hey man. I have an 06 G35x that I'm gonna RWD 6MT swap. It's good to know that people are still documenting the swap in 2020. If I have any questions is there an email I can hit up? Planning on doing this in a few months to a year. Thanks!
The problem I had is that no one had really documented the entire swap at all this whole time. Not on video, at least. If you have questions that the videos don't answer, just ask on here or DM me on instagram at Smith203. Good luck with the swap!
If you just bolt the clutch pedal up using only the two studs from the master cylinder through the firewall, it'll be pretty flimsy and flex quite a bit. I used a piece of flat scrap steel to join the top of the clutch pedal assembly to another solid anchoring point to reduce the flex. I didn't put it in the video since it was pretty impossible to see on camera.
Dillon Smith can you give me more info on or a video on how you reinforced it? Im doing a manual swap currently and just need to reinforce my clutch pedal. Not to sure how to do it though
so what wirings would i need for it too work bc i have a the full engine harness the trans from the car it came from idk if that would be all i need for the wiring part
If you choose to use the 5AT harness (like I did), you'll need to wire up the clutch safety switch to get the car started. There's a bit more wiring to get your reverse lights and cruise control back. If you chose to swap the harness, you may have to get an ECU flash to make it compatible but I'm not really sure on that one.
First of all. Thanks for the video!! I have one question. You don’t show anything regarding the pilot bushing. I know they are different from auto to stick. Did you change it and didn’t show it on camera?
4:23 shows removing the auto one. Can't really see the manual one going in because it took about 5 seconds in real-time, but yes it was changed. It just taps into place.
The plugs definitely aren't the same, but you don't have to swap the harness. There's just an extra bit of wiring that needs to be done for the clutch safety switch (see my follow-up video) and the reverse lights.
Hello, did you have to change the harness? I know the manual transmission has two different sensors on the back side compared to the one on the top of the automatic transmission. - thanks in advance
I kept the 5AT harness, but you'll need to do a bit of simple wiring if you go the same route. The clutch safety switch wiring (shown in my follow-up video) is all that's needed to get the car running and driving. You'll have to do a bit more to get reverse lights and cruise control back. I didn't cover those since I won't be needing them in my application.
@@DillonSmith1 does your dash work after the swap? Mine doesn't seem to show anything anymore I left the TCU plug unplugged and just plugged in the connections that'll fit from the auto harness. Any idea of what to do with the TCM wiring?
Hey just wondering if you had a problem getting the starter to fit on. My fly wheel seems like it sticks out too far that the starter teeth can’t interlock with the flywheel teeth
Nope, bolted straight up. There's no difference between the starter, oil pan, crank, or anything that would affect starter bendix or flywheel depth on the manual vs. auto cars. I would just double check that you were sent the correct flywheel and make sure it's not sitting up on the alignment pins or something.
Got it! Thanks so much, had to realign it so the alignment pin was lined up and it fits good now. Great video by the way, using this to do my whole swap so thank you for making this and sharing it with everyone! Another question, with automatic you need it in park for it to start how did you wire it up for the clutch pedal to be pushed in to start it?
I posted a follow-up video that shows how to wire the clutch safety switch so that the car will start. I haven't used any of the plugs on the transmission, since I don't need cruise control or reverse lights. I just weatherproofed the connectors to keep water out.
Hey man thanks for posting these Is this process more or less the same for the 370? I'm about to jump in to a situation like this and am trying to do as much research as possible first
I'll be honest, I don't really know. As far as the mechanical aspect, it should be just about the same. I've heard that you might actually have to swap to a manual ECU on 370's, but I haven't had anyone confirm this.
Just swapped my 06 350z and it’ll turn over after a few tries but it takes a few attempts. It cranks but usually turns over after 2-10 attempts. Any suggestions? Was told I should swap my engine harness and ecu for a 05 or lower
Given that mine is an '06 and starts the exact same after the swap, I'd say that's not the problem. First thing I'd try is relearn procedure for tps, throttle body, and idle air volume. You can find the process here: www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=uprev.com/documentation/Resets-for-Nissan-Infiniti-Functions.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjTofr09NfqAhUPKa0KHegMCAcQFjAFegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw2dKhgGPNzi51GQzS1SLKPT
From what I've heard, the process should be very similar but with different parts obviously. The main difference is that I haven't heard of anyone doing it without either swapping the ECU or having to re-flash the automatic one to manual. If you're able to get this done, I'd be very happy to know how it went and what it involved so that I can be of better help to others in the future. Good luck!

same here i already do the swap dut need to wire the clutch on 2003 and i change the engine and came with the manual engine harness
Hang tight. I'll have a video up soon explaining the wiring for your '03.
Just posted a video explaining the wiring for the clutch safety switch. Hope it helps!
Hey dillon can you let me know the details on how to wire a 2004 g35?
Can you elaborate on "advised to reinforce the clutch pedal"? Thx
Great video 👍
Gonna do this eventually to my 2000 Lincoln’ LS it has a AJ-8 600hp supercharged v8 ☺️
Sounds like a beautiful build my friend, just traded my Lexus LS with an eaton supercharged with 316 to the wheels but it had that nasty four speed 🥴, got a e30 now
Can’t wait to do this to my G
Good video man I'll doing the swap later👍👍
Hey man grate video I did exactly what you did I'm getting a U1000 code any idea what it could be by any chance
Love the whole video
Very good video my friend! You gave me hope and motivation to build my G. I got an '07 Infiniti G35 auto and will be manual swapping it in the future. You think it will be almost same process? Thanks a lot!
Hi, I know the video is from 2 years ago.
But you didn't considered keeping the AT and remap it for track use?
There are few ways to make it much quicker and with the paddle shifter it's worth it. Unless you will do drift only of course.
Thanks for this good video. 1 question the starter motor from auto to manual is the same? No need to change?
Hi mate i have the same issues have you fix it?what the cause of yours?
@@sphere5505 Nop i did not ! sold mine sadly !
Dillon Smith ok sounds good I didn’t know you had another video up I’ll check out the video and I’ll let you know if I figured it out or not Thanks.
Hello, I have an 06 350Z, which is VQ35DE 5AT, 280hp, I'm going to a single turbo on it, with Transgo kit, I got few questions and since I live in Brazil is veryvery very hard to see people who understand of this car, even on forums like my350z
My biggest problem is the transmission, I was looking for another transmission to put in, but in Brazil we pay 100% import tax over the product + shipping price, so if 2k usd for the cd009 + 500 shipping I pay 2500 + 2500 usd.
Usually people wage here is 120 to 200 a month, of course I'm not like those peoples but I'm not rich if I put my money in USD's
So basically I have 2 questions to know where should I run:
1- Any other transmission that I could find to swap even if I need adapt few things? Like Nissan Frontier 6MT? Which year could be good? Or any other?
2- How much power can the 350z 2006 5AT transmission handle with Transgo? I was looking for 500whp or something close to it, you think the transmission with transgo will handle that? Or should I jump for a swap ( but there is not even one 350z transmission to sale in whole Brazil )
I'm sorry for taking your time but I had nobody else to ask those things...
We need more videos!!
Got a couple in the editor now. Stay tuned!
Hey man I appreciate the vids helped me alot
Awesome! I'm glad to hear they've helped.
Can you please do a video on how to wire up the reverse lights? I keep throwing a code for parking/neutral after once in a while. its annoying!
From what I was told if you use the manual harnesd you don't need to wire up the pnp switch.. if you can help me by briefly telling me where I wire it I will greatly appreciate it currently im throwing a p0850 code My Z is 07
Hey bro great video u did step by step nicely im looking to do the same to my 05 but im wondering what the cost of it is all together
Depends on what parts you use and how you source them. I did mine for about $1200.
Hey I got a 03 g35 just picked up a donor 05 manual, the mechanical side seem straight toward but I’ve been getting talks about the ecu, the NATS and other electronics I may need to worry about
Contact guilty garage on Instagram he’ll help you out bro
Great video thank you for helping us all out. I have a question about the foot e-break. Did you have to delete it?
The 350Z has a hand-operated parking brake, so I didn't have to change anything with it. In a G35 it looks like you just need to source the parking brake setup from a 6MT car.
Hi @DillonSmith I have a very stupid question, can I use my 05's ECU (auto) for the swap or do I need to get an ECU from a manual? It's a DE btw
U can use the auto ecu
He talks about it towards the end and in the description. It's possible just no cruise control and no backup lights
Did your dash have any lights show up ? Just about to complete the swap and was curious if I’d run into anything like that?
cool video bro!how much it cost to do a swap like that thanks
Yeah I'd like to know
It really depends on what parts you get and where you get them. I did mine for around $1200, and I'd say that's about middle of the road for what you can do it for. I've seen it done for $700-800, but I don't think that was with a CD009 transmission since they're typically a bit more expensive to source (mine was $500).
Currently have a 04 350z AT. How much did you get your transmission, & how much would it usually cost to get it swapped by someone else
Dillon Smith when you get a chance can you send me a picture whenever you are free and near your car please and thank you
Hey man best vid ive seen by far for this swap!
Dillon Smith Thanks for the reply ill make sure to watch that vid too!
You'll at least be able to narrow down to if your 12v source is or isn't the issue.
hey so i did all this and also swapped my harness/ ecu to manual, my car does not start, any guesses?
Wow this is impressive. Definitely subscribing to your Channel
Thanks so much! It's turning out to be a fun project. More videos on the way.
Really random but if you kept the automatic cluster what does it say when your moving into different gears ?? Does it stay stuck in drive ?
That little screen just stays blank the whole time.
Quick question. What are you using to lift the car up in order to be high enough to pull out the transmission? My jack and jack stands don’t seem to lift the 350Z high enough to actually roll the trans out from under that car. Any help is much appreciated
Quick question. So i swapped everything and no im left with a hole. What material did you use to cover that?
I actually just used some leftover rubber sheet that I cut to fit snug around the lower shifter boot (the rubber one) and riveted it to the transmission tunnel and sealed it with silicone. I got the rubber sheet in a big roll from Home Depot a while back to use as the surface for my workbench. It's like 3 or 4mm thick and worked perfectly for this.
Hey buddy, did you erase the “check AT” on the auto dash?
Thanks for the video I have a 2 question about the reverse lights switch plug . How did you make it work with the manual transmission and did the car go into limp mode?
I didn't wire reverse lights since I don't need them, but they can be wired up pretty simply. And no, never had a limp mode.
Where do I need to wire the clutch safety switch in a 2005 350z? Thanks for make this video man Im going to start doing the swap to my z too
On the switch, one wire needs to be connected to switched power (like the o2 sensor fuse terminal).
@@ItsFredAgainhow was the cd01
were do i need to run wirings from clutch pedal on 370z>?
Nine job men wooo!
Hey Asad, did you end up doing the swap?
What about the 5at
Hey Dillon, amazing video man!
Hi I have done my transfer but I can't start the engine because I have this code U1001 & U1000, Do you have any ideas
Hey dude ! You might know if its possible to get inside of the mt ecu and make some different setup there, or for that i need some stand alone ecu?
You can definitely tune the stock ECU, if that's what you mean. You can buy pre-flashed ECU's or have someone flash yours if you can go without it for a bit (see UpRev and others like them), or you can get a proper dyno tune for the best results.
Hi, i just did my 6speed swap on my 03 350z and i got a CEL, how did yo wire the neutral switch? Code reader says U1001 U1000 , something to do whit CAN BUS system and DTC
I didn't wire the neutral position switch, as it's not necessary for my application. I have no need for cruise control.
Dam I miss that sound from my 350z I’m gonna get another one soon was thinking bout doing this I found one for a steal but it’s kinda a lot of work I’m not to crazy of a mechanic

How do I wire my neutral safety switch on 03 G35?
Nice work 👌🏻 what did you mean by reinforcing the clutch pedal? How so?
If you just bolt the clutch pedal up using only the two studs from the master cylinder through the firewall, it'll be pretty flimsy and flex quite a bit. I used a piece of flat scrap steel to join the top of the clutch pedal assembly to another solid anchoring point to reduce the flex. I didn't put it in the video since it was pretty impossible to see on camera.
Dillon Smith can you give me more info on or a video on how you reinforced it? Im doing a manual swap currently and just need to reinforce my clutch pedal. Not to sure how to do it though
im planning on doing this with my 05 g35 coupe, before the summer. any tips ?
Set aside plenty of time, so you don't rush. And have a buddy to help out if possible. Good luck with your swap!
so what wirings would i need for it too work bc i have a the full engine harness the trans from the car it came from idk if that would be all i need for the wiring part
would i need to reflash the ecu or anything?
It just taps into place.
bro quick question have you gotten the car tuned? and does cruise control work for you?
Hey man do i need to change the harness or the plugs are the same?
The plugs definitely aren't the same, but you don't have to swap the harness. There's just an extra bit of wiring that needs to be done for the clutch safety switch (see my follow-up video) and the reverse lights.
How did you reinforce the clutch pedal?? Help that’s where I’m stuck at lol
I made a quick (drunk) video showing what I did here: ruclips.net/video/DDpdwvJV_Ug/видео.html
Sick bro!!!!!
Where do you live ? I’ll pay you to do mine !
I want to do this to my 04 Z 🥺 if you don’t mind me asking how much $ was it to do? Or is it better off buying a manual z ?
Cost me around $1200
How can one reinforce the clutch pedal?
You didn’t need to swap your Ecu did you?
Hey! Just wondering what you did for the transmission wires to wire them from auto to the manual plugs on the transmission?
I posted a follow-up video that shows how to wire the clutch safety switch so that the car will start. I haven't used any of the plugs on the transmission, since I don't need cruise control or reverse lights. I just weatherproofed the connectors to keep water out.
Hey man thanks for posting these
Is this process more or less the same for the 370?
I'm about to jump in to a situation like this and am trying to do as much research as possible first
I'll be honest, I don't really know. As far as the mechanical aspect, it should be just about the same. I've heard that you might actually have to swap to a manual ECU on 370's, but I haven't had anyone confirm this.
@@DillonSmith1 wouldn't surprise me. Did you keep your auto gauge cluster when you did yours?
I did, but I have one from a manual that I may try swapping out in the future. If I get bored, haha
Just swapped my 06 350z and it’ll turn over after a few tries but it takes a few attempts. It cranks but usually turns over after 2-10 attempts. Any suggestions? Was told I should swap my engine harness and ecu for a 05 or lower
Given that mine is an '06 and starts the exact same after the swap, I'd say that's not the problem. First thing I'd try is relearn procedure for tps, throttle body, and idle air volume. You can find the process here: www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=uprev.com/documentation/Resets-for-Nissan-Infiniti-Functions.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjTofr09NfqAhUPKa0KHegMCAcQFjAFegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw2dKhgGPNzi51GQzS1SLKPT
Im wanting to the same thing with my 04 auto z
Do it. Best mod for a 5AT 350Z guaranteed.
How long did this take u and how much did u end up spending?
I plan on swapping my 09 370z to manual . Any ideas to how that process will go and should I use the same parts but you know a 370?
From what I've heard, the process should be very similar but with different parts obviously. The main difference is that I haven't heard of anyone doing it without either swapping the ECU or having to re-flash the automatic one to manual. If you're able to get this done, I'd be very happy to know how it went and what it involved so that I can be of better help to others in the future. Good luck!
Dillon Smith thank you and I will
If I pay you can you come to Brazil swap my Z transmission?
I did the swap and got a p1564 any advice?
