Audi TT mk2 honest review. Better than the Golf GTI?

  • Is this Audi TT really a better car than the VW Golf GTI or an Audi A3?
    This second-gen Audi TT (8J) has a 2.0 TFSI (EA113) engine, that produces 211 PS (208 bhp) and 280 Nm of torque. It shares the engine, gearbox, and many other parts with its siblings: Audi A3 2.0T, VW Golf GTI mk5, Seat Leon FR, and Škoda Octavia vRS.
    Like A3, Golf, Leon, and Octavia, the Audi TT mk2 is based on the same PQ35 (A5) platform. That is why these cars are usually compared to each other. Practical people would say that there is no sense to spend more for a TT over GTI or A3 2.0T, but some of us are willing to pay a bigger price because of the beautiful design of this car.
    The Audi TT is a very sporty and elegant 2-door coupe with a high-quality interior, but is it really worth the premium over the Golf GTI and other VAG siblings? Watch this review to find out!
    Worth mentioning, that this particular 2009 Audi TT has less than 95 000 KM on the dash, is owned by one owner, and is up for sale: autoplius.lt/skelbimai/audi-t...

    The 1,8 TFSI 118 KW pulls better than the 147 KW - 2. Litre one because it has less Turbo lag as it's a newer engine. The 2 Litre 155 KW and 169 KW are a different story.

    Would you recommend it over a Mazda MX-5 NC?

    • @CertifiedCarLover
      @CertifiedCarLover  Год назад +2

      I think that TT and MX-5 are very different from each other. Audi TT has a lot of electronics, you sit in a quite expensive-feeling interior, while a Mazda MX-5 is more about having fun while driving in a bit raw-looking, very noisy cabin. I believe MX-5 is more of a driver's car than a TT, but the TT is more like a coupe for everyday. That's why for everyday use I would go with a TT, but if you have a second car or you live somewhere, where all roads are perfect and the weather is fantastic, get a MX-5. MX-5 has a low center of gravity, so it should drive better than TT.

    So interesting that this is seen as a woman's car in Europe but not so much in the U.S. All the better for me as it decreases the value making it more affordable for men and women in the U.S. I see this as a modern Karmann Ghia. I'm currently looking to buy a 1st generation with awd, manual, and 225 hp, which makes this a true sports car in my book but at a very reasonable price. These are only going to go up in value. ☺☺☺

    It's hilarious how he went from I don't like Audi's and the TT is just an A3/GTI designed for women to I think I want to buy one.😁 He started out trying to not admit he liked the looks, then when he sat inside you could already see him changing his mind. After driving it, he was no longer thinking of it as a A3/GTI or just a woman's car. 🤣

    • @CertifiedCarLover
      @CertifiedCarLover  11 месяцев назад

      Well, I still think that it is A3/GTI in a different body, but it doesn't mean that it is bad. I just think that if you don't really care about the coupe body style, you should go with A3/GTI and save some money. But if someone is in love with TT's styling and wants something that looks a bit more special - TT is a good option for them.

      @@CertifiedCarLover , I think it's more of a price thing. If an A3, GTI and TT were all the same price , most would probably pick TT. A lot of brands use the same parts/engines/chassis, but as we know things can be done to give each it's own character. I respect your opinion, just giving my 2 cents.
