I've owned my MK2 TT RS for 13 years; Fan heater Motors go, Parcel Shelf Brackets break, Bonnet Pull handles break, Crank walk breaks engine (push to start Bypass recommended). The Direct injection engines suffer from Carbon build up on the valves (walnut blasting gets rid). I've had 2 Hadex pump break over the years. Mag Ride breaks, best to replace with coilovers. You can't code out the mag ride - It needs resistor (mag ride delete units) Bose amps can get water logged if you don't keep the drain holes clear. Fuel caps can stick closed when the cap is dirty
For the boot opening, if you've ever had the battery die like I have, you can crawl inside the car to the boot and there is an "emergency release" cord on the inside, you should see a small keyhole in the tailgate just below the window line. Pop your key in and remove the felt cover, then pull the little cord and the boot will unlock.
Great video. Had 07 MK2 2ltr TFSI still running with 166000 miles and still going strong. Major issue i had was a leak , this was traced to rear spoiler that raises. as commented in video if it has been removed at any time check for leaks. Mine was leaking down the retaining screws. Noticed issue when windows were steaming up for no reason. Found puddle around battery also caused intermittent starting due to water getting into fuel control unit under back seat. Removed complete spoiler unit and resealed all with Tiger sealant no issue since. Window winder also failed due to poor quality cable upgraded and fixed for £40. Rear light earthing can be fixed if you are a confident diyer. drilling through base of rear lights and fitting decent sized cable and attach to frame (you tube videos). Dead right about pressure valve , had coil go week before which i replaced , then similar symptoms felt a bit like a misfire but slightly different . Genuine part upgraded or later version part fitted £25 and 30mins of my labour again easy for confident diy er . hope this helps. Happy driving.
It would be worth mentioning the oil pump hex drive and balance shaft issue on the TDI engine both engine codes CBBB & CFGB were effected by this. Common rail diesel engines in various models across Audi and VW all the way up to 2015
Absolutely, really common issue with PD170 which either kills the engine or the turbo at least. Quite expensive to fix. Also 2.0tfsi cam follower failure, balance shaft seizure which kills the engine. Audi had a recall on a lot of PD170 injectors and were replacing all faulty ones.
Thank you for this, Audi no longer supports the CCM for the 2001 TT Roadster. Are you aware of any workarounds for this module to be able to put the roof up and down? I tried have mine rebuilt but too far gone. Any response is appreciated.

Hi. I have a 2008 Audi TT. After warming up, it won't change gears. It only stays in 1st. It was hard to find someone to look at it. The oil and filter were changed. And now they want me to change the entire transmission. I feel like that's not it. Someone who knows Audi TTs told me it's the heat exchanger or heat sensor (because it stops working after warming up). Can you help me?

My 2014 Mk 2 is on 95k miles. Runs beautifully and no obvious issues as yet. HOWEVER, it drinks oil like there's no tomorrow. Refilling the oil every 2 or 3 weeks! Any ideas why that might be happening? I've had it checked for leaks but none detected.
I just test drove a 2011 TTRS with 95k on the clock. The thing that I noticed is that when flooring the accelerator at low speed or when stationary, there seemed to be a long lag and a great deal of wheelspin on the rear. Also that the ABS seemed to kick in a little too fast even at low speed braking. Any suggestions as to the cause(s)? It felt to me the 4x4 system wasn't behaving well. Your thoughts are welcome. Best Wishes.

I got a 09 mk2 3.2 vr6 140,000mi, most of my issues have been electrical, needed to replace my door locking mechanism twice, needed to replace my rear center breaklight, need to replace my daytime running light, my front shocks went out , my left CV axle went out, my radiator cooling manifold had a crack in it, my chain tensioner is going bad, my rear view mirror electrical stopped working. Over all great car tho.

I have a video comparing repairs on the two MK2 TTS vs TTRS. In short get the TT-RS. The thermostat and the water pump is MUCH less labor intensive to get to. TTS requires removal of the alternator, air cleaner box, radiator cowel, 3 coolant hoses and the coolant pipe just to get to where you can remove the thermostat. The water pump is much easier to get to as well on the MK2 TT-RS.

I love the typical stereotype “ladies” or “hairdressers car” yet so many so called “men” these days drive hybrid or electric embarrassments.
If your masculinity is tethered to what vehicle you drive, you have issues.
