Mk1 225 coupé is my daily. I did originally look at 3.2’s but couldn’t quite justify daily running coat at the time but I had to have the twin pipes. I love how the little TT drives, you feel involved with it, which for me is important because I just enjoy driving. I find the newer the car the more muted it feels and the more detached you feel from it. TT does everything I need it to and looks damn good doing it. Good video dude 🤘🏻
Can't argue with that, exactly how i feel. If you dont want a car that you have to fettle with, does what it should and has comfort then a mk2 is the one, for that iconic styling and driver input required then mk1 all day
I purchased last year a 2008 Mk2 VR6 for my wife with only 72k miles on the clock. She absolutely loves it. She's a careful driver and only gives it a kick when I'm out listening to that gorgeous sound. I long dreamt about buying a VW Golf R32 - but never got around to it. Now I can only listen in on my wife's…
Sounds like you have it sussed, the sound is just perfection thats for sure, the price of mk4's has gone through the roof over the last few years, probably the wiser idea getting the later model
The Audi tt mark one is an absolute iconic shape sports car. Especially the view at the back. Will be a great classic ❤ . I've got one in jet black 🖤 in my garage at home. 20 years old its like new 😊
Great vid and cheers for the shout out mate 👍having both the mk1 and mk2 and obviously they are both not standard as you know and having the mk2 for around 3 years now and the mk1 coming up to a year I will do a vid on them like what they are like to live with and and my thoughts on them soon 👍
Thanks buddy and yeah that would be cool especially as you have used them both quite a bit, we know its all personal preference and of course the mk1 gets more looks, but reliability is a big factor too
The mk 1 always takes my eye when I see one, just a beautiful little thing. Although I have a mk2 now I feel it looks a little bloated around the rear wings area, likes its gained a bit of middle aged spread. Its hard to describe as the mk2 is a beauty but certain angles at certain times it looks a little heavy. Have used both as a daily, so my answer is either!
Yeah my 225 has become a weekender, only because I need the space that my other car offers. That said, I love nothing more than hopping in my TT after a couple of weeks driving my dad wagon and taking it for a well deserved blast, it makes me appreciate it that little bit more. Great vid!
Mk1 all day long ..proud owner of a Moro Blue 225 coupe... 146 k ..fsh all the right bits replaced .downpipes and Full Milltek exhaust , love the performance and sound ..😍
I have a Manual 2011 Mk2 TDI Quattro as my daily. It is an amazing car. Plenty of torque and excitement. Comfortable even for the 4 yo. In the back. Super economical ( 1300km per tank - on a good day). Swapped out the stereo and added a new head unit with GPS and CarPlay and added an after market console with cubby bin and matching padded leather armrest and done a stage one tune with a bit of tweaking on other stuff. Made the world of difference. Bang for your buck, it is simply an amazing car. Real head turner, still scary fast and probably cheaper to buy than a boring Toyota Corolla. I am still deeply in love with this car. It fulfils my every pleasure in life every time I get in it.
Sounds like you've bought the perfect car for yourself, if you are doing lots of miles then of course the diesel is a no-brainer and a map always make such a difference. I would be tempted to get one if I was going to get Mark2 as it covers all bases that's for sure
Prefacing my comments with the fact I've never owned a TT, I've been very tempted by a MkII 3.2. Aesthetically, I like the proportions of the MkII, slightly stretched and less bulbous c/w the MkI. I've owned several turbo charged cars and would welcome the more linear power delivery of a larger displacement n/a engine, even if that means it lacks a certain amount of "throw you back in the seat" factor. The timing chain and bigger displacement also suggests longevity.. One thing about the TT's reputation, (which I find hard to understand) is that they are thought by some reviewers, to "lack the credentials of a true sports car because they're designed on the platform of the Golf ".. I always thought that the Golf was considered a fairly manoeuvrable, taught sort of chassis, so why should the TT be anything less? Finally, regarding prices - I wish UK pricing translated to the same equivalent in the USA!! Values are at least double, heading towards triple, over here. The VR6 engined example I've had my eye on, is $20k but has a laundry list of items that need attention, so I've decided to walk away.
Thanks for the feedback appreciate it, i love discussing these beautiful cars and im very passionate about them, i have had some great experiences driving a mk2 TTS around the yorkshire dales and would happilt add one to my fleet when the price dips a littel
The exhaust sound is like something from the heavens that gives your right foot this urge to press down aha, i just couldn't pay the uk tax bill for one as its double what my mk1 is haha
Well i have both Mk1 225 and Mk2 TTS. The Mk1 is a stage 2 285 bhp the Mk2 TTs standard is 272bhp, i have put a downpipe and airfilter with a GTS tuning box... this thing is so fast i had to turn down the tuning box. Still love my Mk 1 but this Mk2 is super quick.... great on the motorways and not bland at all. Changed the head unit to a nice Kenwood with the bose speakers the sound is unbelieviable...
I couldn’t agree more mate, a friend of mine had a tricked up mk2 and it’s an animal, dsg stage 2 and that mag ride is just something else. But then that’s 10k’s worth of car plus 😂
i daily a mk1 225, its stage 1 and has a full exhaust and a sports cat. i suck up the extra running costs necause its a phenomenal car. its got its problems like the dashboard cutting out, and a few rust spots on the wings but i love it nonetheless
Awesome! My dash clocks do the same, one minute they are fine next they all go off 😂. But making the most of the mk1 none the less. Living the dream mate
I had a 2013 TT 2.0TFSI Quattro Roadster. I had it for 8 years and covered 122.000km. I loved it! The Bose sound system was great. It did have a timing chain issue at around 55.000km, thankfully was taken care of by Audi as it would have been a massive bill so be aware of timing issues! Slight issue with the convertible top when put down, it wouldn’t register that the roof operation was complete. The wet clutch S-Tronic gearbox would sometimes be a bit hesitant but no issues really. Other than that, the car was really a lot of fun! I sold it and replaced it with a Mercedes E400 Coupe. Very different car but no regrets. The comfort is unbelievable in comparison
Mk 1 for me, I have a 2002 tt convertable, black with baseball leather interior, smaller engine front wheel drive, just over 100 K. 20 years old and still looks and runs great. Love you video, Manny In California !
It was difficult to choose so I got both. Mk1 is raw fun with the throttle kit. The Mk2 convertible is more refined and used as a cruiser when the sun is shining. Unfortunately Aussie prices are no where near as good as the UK. Both great looking cars and in excellent condition due to good history and low mileage.
As my daily I’d still have my MK1. I know the MK2 (early ones) have cambelt not chains which is a better option. But I’d say a MK1 is way cheaper to maintain and also easier to work on. MK2 have way too much electronics involved in everything, they suffer with wiring issues
Mk2 Quattro Diesel. Fantastic torque economy and surefooted. Cheap to run. I had the Haldex service done when I purchased. Getting to be good value second hand buys. In my opinion is more comfortable on the 17” standard alloys.
Mk1 QS all day long. But they're slowly moving out of my price range. I wrapped the roof on my last mk1 3.2 DSG. Fitted a rear seat delete, painted the mirrors, and fuel flap. A cheap scotsman QS.
I have a right hand 2004 two wheel drive 180 Mk1 tt with DSG 6 speed gearbox it has excellent smooth pulling power..pleasure to drive. But Compared to my Manuel 6 speed left hand drive Quattro 2000 it feels numb..Turning the wheel of this left hander its like a go cart it tracks the road confidently. Love the end power of each gear and control..Looking forward to get this MK1 ABT going which is right hand drive Manuel..upgraded all around.
@@TheParrottBros I changed a rubber breather hose got excited of the lights a few times as the car felt faster to me but wheels bounced around with the front wheel drive of the road. Now there is play from engine to wheels like a drive shaft knock at times..sometimes the engine revs up before pulling. I might of damaged the Auto box..in Japans cold weather first 30 mins its jumpy then it smooth..or even the summer heat opposite runs better cold before it get hot..then jumpy..any advice
@@pascodavid If it doesn’t do it all the time then it’s not the mounts, I would get it serviced first to rule out any issues like that, then possibly look at getting it software updated or mapped. Otherwise it could have damaged the mechatronics or a gear itself
I’ve got a mk2 TT tdi s line facelift with the led DRL’s also remapped to about 210bhp standard torque is same as a TTS so it’ll be more now, it’s rapid and puts a smile on my face while returning 45-50 mpg
@@TheParrottBros it’s a lovely drive the map makes a lot of difference to normal driving aswell much smoother and nice power delivery. When I bought it it had the emissions fix on it which was horrible constant regeneration cycle and just not suited to the car hence the remap totally different car
They seem to be cheaper for you. Over on this side of the pond, these things are going for between $6K-$9K depending. Anything under $6K and you'll soon be there and more once all the deferred maintenance is done.
I’ve had an mk1 for almost 8 years. I just hit 110,000 miles. Lots of trim pieces are just now, all at one time, snapping, breaking, etc. The ebrake silver release/thumb button popped and flew off. My driver side visor clip broke. My leather seat on driver side is becoming shot. Knob to move side mirrors broke off. Window regulator cord tangled with itself and broke. So my driver window wasn’t staying up. My driver side lock cylinder spins in place all the way around. Both keys have snapped where it meets the black fob. Interior alarm sensors stopped working, I realize that’s something I can reset, just haven’t. All 4 trunk lid and hood struts have failed. Driver side mirror jiggles in place. Both little back seat storage compartment lids don’t stay shut. The cover for the jack kit has a broken clip, so doesn’t stay in place. All really small menial tasks, just all at once breaking though, makes it rather annoying. Inner drive side door handle bracket snapped so handle fell off. Fobs have stopped working and now out of nowhere the passenger window rolls down completely if I unlock the car. Front suspensions got something going on, or will need to replace some parts soon. As far as actual car stuff goes… my rear caliper froze, no big deal, just replaced. But that’s typical maintenance and really, should’ve been a preventative care thing on my part. Coolant has started leaking. Belly pan clips were toast a long time ago, every place I’ve taken it to apparently has literally zip tied the thing on each time it’s been seen. I recently read all of my paperwork & found it on a ton of diff invoice notes, haha. It’s all repairable stuff, but am def thinking it’s just the age of all the plastics and things regarding the interior. It’s a 2000. I’ve loved the shit out of my TT. But I’d trade it in a second for an mk2. And all that being said, it’s been a really fantastic car up until now. Never has given me any issues. Love driving it. Love how it’s handled. Loved the overall look. Just is becoming a little more outdated than I’d like, and I think maybe is time to retire, as much as I do still love it.
I own a MK2 TTS s tronic, Stage 1 remapped. It is quite exciting to accelerate, feels like a FWD car with more grip, not playful. Owned it for 10 months, and up for sale soon.
Good video Dom👍🏻 I had a mk2 for a few months but sent it back cause of a constant mil light but quite liked it 🚗👍🏻 I’m trying to make my MK1 a daily driver and would love a low mileages QS as a weekender but I’m still dreaming about the QS 😂😂
I love my mk 1 the origanal tt 225 .2 problems engine managment light is on but garage cant find any fault and oil level sensor has started coming on booked in for that problem .engine light iv given up on it runs perfect
@@TheParrottBros garage keeping checking it found a air flow sensor changed it .it was ok for 3 weeks then light came on again but they cant find whats up the engine is running beautiful .hope oil level sensor isent to expensive
I have just bought a low millage 50K Mk2 TTS. can fit my bike in the back and is only used as a weekender for trips to the lake district. Perfect sports car and all rounder. 8o% Aluminium so no rust problems. bought additional rear subframe on ebay as intend to keep it for years. rust treated the all steel sections with LANOLIN. I don't think the MK3 offers anything more reliable and British roads which are smooth are policed heavily. My daily is the older RS Q3 which is a more comfortable ride.
Yeah I can’t argue with that, I’d happily have a tts as a daily! Brilliant car. I think you did the right thing getting the subframe as in years to come they will shoot you in price. Specially with British roads
I remember Hugh Grant driving a mk1 in About a Boy movie. I think he looked quite cool in that movie and depicted an affluent sort of single man. I'm wandering about a mk2 as a 2nd family run about and weekend car for short journeys.
I remember the clip, and your right! yeah the mk2 would be more suited to a family run about as the 4 seats are a bit more usable by all, and more reliable haha
I never got tired turning my head round after I parked my mk 1, no matter which way it was facing. My favourite was the rear view of the spoiler. Rear, front, side it always put a smile on my face. The mk2 rear view doesn't appeal to me. I would need a RS spoiler or similar done asap if I bought one. Hopefully it won't have a red interior.....
Hi again! Gav here(2011 tts) did you say you can get them to 360bhp? How? I'm going to get a ram Air thing and a remap but I think I'll only get about 310ish? What else do I need to be looking at? Don't know alot about stuff lol, has mine got mag ride? How do I know?
I run a MK1 225 as a daily and love it to bits. Not tempted by mk2 or mk3 but my recent cars have been a Peugeot 205 CTI, Saab 9000 aero and Saab 93 viggen, real shame GM took over Saab and ran it into the ground
Would have one of each, mk1 2 and 3. Currently have a 225 Imola Yellow (actually the only one ive ever seen in real life) Would like to add a 3.2 to the fleet soon, but has to be in some unusual colour, dont matter if mk1 or 2.
Great vid as always Dom 👌 I made the switch earlier this year from the mk1 225 to the mk2 TTRS for my 40 mile daily commute. I think you've nailed all the right points, but another thing I would add to the mk2 argument is - the brakes. As the single pot calipers on the 225s are an absolute joke! So far I have also managed to keep my mk1 because it's still a great drive, especially if you've gone down the handling upgrade/stage 2 route.
Wow that’s some upgrade! Can’t fault you tho I’d love a mk2 Ttrs haha. Yeah brakes in a 225 certainly could be a damn sight better from stock for sure!
the brakes on a 225 are good. This famous german show only made positive comments about them: ruclips.net/video/HavG0TSAX68/видео.html&ab_channel=SiRRoW. But this requires the calipers, lines, discs and pads to be OEM quality, which is not the case most of the time. In fact in the very same show test results of the 1M Leon Cupra R's Brembos were worse
Like everything its great while it works haha, you have to buy a car based on merit, service history and then some knelt prayers haha, brilliant cars to drive and dont half move
There are some precautions you can take to counteract the British winter, under sealing and cavity waxing, regular washing etc. i use mine all year round 😊
I have owned both a mk1 3.2 DSG coupe and a mk2 2.5 RS manual coupe. I loved the original TT interior and exterior design, and it was great. My mk2 RS is just a very different car and dynamically can’t be compared. Mine has the speed restrictor increase to 174mph, and it will hit that with ease and be very stable at the same time. The mk1 3.2 felt light over 80 mph and never inspired confidence when pushing on. Love them both for different reasons, but my mk2 RS is a keeper. As a daily, all weather cross country weapon, with relative practicality that can top 40mpg on a run, I struggle to think of anything new I’d replace it with. It also retains a layer of the mk1s analogue feel that is lost in newer cars and dare I say it, the mk3.
They are definitely great value, especially here in the UK. EU and US prices seem to have stayed stable or appreciated for good examples. But for value, I’d take a well sorted mk2 8J TTS if you could find an unmolested one. That and the V6 are great all rounders for the price. In the sea of SUVs that seem to be the current trend here in the UK, any TT is a glorious sight.
I have a mk1 as my daily and have done for 18yrs. Looking to upgrade to mk2 for reliability and fuel costs. After driving my mk1 225 which has been mapped, I tried the petrol and diesel mk2 and they are a little disappointing. Considering keeping the mk1 as well as my heart will break if I sell it !!!
Hi Dom I have a Mk1 that I use as a weekend car. I love it but parts are getting harder to get and are hoping it will become a classic so wanting to keep kms done. I do love the Mk2 as well had one as an everyday driver that made me fall in love with Audi. It had the 5 spoke 19 inch rims with the competition pack, red with black ascents. Would still have it if it didn’t get written off, would love a TTRS if I could afford it. I love the Quattro system i could do anything with the MK2 it had awesome grip. Loving all your videos I brought the Mk1 after I lost the MK2 so glad I did, thanks for the great advice. The only thing that is annoying I can’t get all the aftermarket stuff as I’m in Australia and the shipping costs are a killer.
Ooo wow I bet mk1’s are a special sight in Australia! Yeah I can imagine shipping and tax is mega! TT parts are extremely expensive In America im also told so your not alone. I bet pricing there is completely different too when compared with the uk. Thanks for the kind words about the channel appreciate the support
Yes car prices are also ridiculous here compared to Europe and the US. Asking $14000-20000 for a good MK1. I am trying to get a honeycomb rear diffuser for mine, do you know of any web sites. The cheapest one on eBay is $300 with the shipping for a 225. Thanks Dom
Just had a new engine in my mk2 fitted by Audi after a garage botched a timing chain repair that failed and totally ruined my engine, swarf found in oil pump and timing chain guides, going down the legal route now to see if I can get some compensation, anyhow mk2 for me then mk1 not to keen on the mk3.
@@TheParrottBros absolutely love it. It was on the cheaper scale and needs work done to it. I was unfortunate though 12 days after I got it a power steering pulley came off a van form across the road as I was driving and hit and wrecked the bumper on my MK1. It hasn't been out that much since then. It is in getting the bumper fixed atm. I just love the way the MK1 feels while driving it. I feel a lot more connected with what the steering is doing and also changing gears again. I love your driveway with a 3.2. would absolutely love 1 of them. Especially a manual 1.
Hi, big fan of the channel, sorry for hijacking this unrelated video! Do you know the paint colour or code for 2002 to mk1 9 spoke Ronals? Keen to get paint ordered up for a busy weekend!
Hey buddy, give this a look www.ttforum.co.uk/threads/alloy-wheel-paint-code.1958459/ hope it helps, I've never got wheels done to a factory standard, i just got it done in bright silver
Thats not something i have heard but if you can find one with a decent service history i wouldn't worry too much, worst case you have to change the pcv system not a massive deal breaker
Hiya mate, I've got a mk 2 2011 tts manual, just wondering if it's possible to launch a manual? I've noticed when you turn the traction control off you can rev it past 4000
@@TheParrottBros thanks for the reply, I don't know what it means tho lol, I'm going to get a stage 1 remap, that will take it to just over 300bhp I think, maybe 310? I'm off to get a ram Air induction thingy as well, do I put that on before I map it?
Ìm quite happy with my 190 bhp mk 1 tt . It does everything i want nicley and looks great .if anything happened and i had to change . Id go for a mk3 but until then my mk1 will do fine its coming up a19 yrs old .car has a 100k miles on as its a 2005. And after a wash looks fantastic..and if its worth £3 k i think its a bargain for anyone .
I would recommend going to test drive one as it may not be for you, always worth sitting in one and seeing if you gel with it, i used to have a 330ci many years ago and one of the most comfy cars ive ever owned
Very informative not seen a lot of the mk2 internally. I personally wouldn’t consider a mk2 think I would prob buy something completely different. However for a modern daily driver would def fancy a mk3 tts🙂
I've got a 225 8N and a 3.2 8J, both roadsters and would daily both, if I didn't need the economy of my Mazda 6 estate. (yes I know, 3 cars is nearly as bad as you Dom). 🙂I love the feel of the Mk1 with its close and compact cabin, seems so much smaller than the Mk2. But the Mk2 does feel more 'modern' and refined, so I'm still on the fence when it comes to which is better.
Mk2 TTs came with a 1.8 engine as well didn't they Dom? Not the 20v but the newer chain driven engine. Remember servicing them when I worked at Audi, Ben (de52fok) here 😊
I have MK2 quattro 2.0 diesel ⛽,it's awesome car and cheap to insure,I had 34,500 on clock when I got it,it had full service history which I still keep up every winter even in if I've only done 5000 miles in a year,I also have qashqia which I use more for work,TT I use for pleasure and sometimes work, love the TT power 2.0 litre gives 0-60 7.2 sec its closest Ile get to an r8 lol,MK1 was nice looking car when it came out however I would say MK2 looks like it is more prestiges, best car I've had and I've had a few,
Glad you are enjoying it, it’s certainly a nice place to be and always nice when it returns great mpg while cruising along. Would make a lovely daily that’s for sure, specially when returning decent mpg
Have just bought a mk1 Audi TT which has FSH which I will use as my camping travelling treat, have a Mazda 3 diesel sport as my get to work or sensible car ,though my TT is cheaper on insurance than my daily driver as I was given a great deal from Adrian Flux.
Android head unit upgrade for mk2 is easy got a xtrons ps5 made for the mk2 in mine works perfectly and works with steering wheel controls better than the factory one did, totally transforms the car and brings it up to date, owned mk1 and mk2 and prefer mk2 to drive around same engine as (timing belt version) golf gti and A3 2.0t there solid if you maintain them right and easy to tune even simple stage 1 is night and day
Another great video Dom, as you know I have a Mark 1 TT which I love to bits.😁 I think the mark one was the best TT Audi ever so much made I know it's only my personal opinion🤔 but they make you feel so special when you drive them, I had a lady come up to me the other day in the car park and she said WOW!! That looks a gorgeous looking 🚗 car . I personally think that says it all 😉👍
Its iconic, a drivers car and timeless, i often see people staring and i love it, as im the same if i see one drive past..... when im not jumping up and down and waving like a mad man haha
Thats it mate, that sound coupled with the mk1 lines .... heaven plus a lesser tax bill haha, yeah the mk2 tts is on my hitlist for the future when the price drops a little
Thanks buddy appreciate the comments. It’s a subject I’ve wanted to do for ages and now the prices have some what aligned I thought it was the perfect opportunity. Owning a mk1 you just have to be at piece with the likelihood of greater maintenance 😂
2006 1.8T MK1 163 Roadster is my go to for short trips to my local gym/shops at 48000 miles (No issues, just changed full suspension and brakes all round, upgraded engine hoses to Forge silicone and valves etc before anything happens!), otherwise it's the 2008 1.6 Toyota Auris lol :D
Just be aware that the tax may be more on the 3.2, check with your countries car tax before purchasing as in the uk it’s nearly double. Both very good cars though
@@TheParrottBros not sure what tax means in this context but in my country you pay fee for registering the car and it depends on KW power of the car which in the case of 3.2 would be more than 2k€ for just registering it in my name, for 2.0 its something like 800€ i guess.
My MK 2 TDI with a full service history has just been MOT’d today on 56,300 on a 58 plate. Absolutely first class. Don’t know what she’s worth but don’t really care.
Love these vids! Recent bought a 2002 mk1 225 and I am loving it! Quick question for anyone, where is a good place to get good second hand parts for TT's? I ask as I am in need of a fuel sender unit and need a little help (: Keep making great content!
Thanks for the kind words, there are a few really great breakers out there, drop me a message on socials or via email and ill point you in the right direction, all my contact info in video descriptions
@@TheParrottBros looking forward to Mk2 TTS content as they deserve a TT enthusiasts input. I would brilliant if you could show how the cars refinement could be improved from playing around with different tyre and suspension set ups. bigger brake rotors limit options but finding ways to limit road noise and improve ride quality at this price and practicality level would be fantastic.
I'll start with this.....I hate most Audi's! In my previous job we had A3's and 4's as company cars and I couldn't understand the attraction, they were just dull, over-priced cars. I had a BMW 325i convertible (hard top) as my own car but then moved jobs and wanted something more economical to drive as well as saving the BMW's low mileage to keep it low as it's a really nice example. I came across a TT diesel 2009 with just under 100k on the clock which I got for £4700. I was hooked straight away with the handling and although it is only 170bhp it's a hell of a lot of fun to drive, especially along twisty B roads! So that got my mind going and I'm yet to get in a mk1 TT but I'm searching for a decent 3.2 that isn't silly money and have it as a weekend car but also for doing some driving holidays across Europe which we had planned to do in the BMW before Covid reared it's ugly head! If anyone has any advice or info on buying a Mk1 3.2 I'm all ears, or if you know someone looking to sell now or in the near future feel free to give me a shout. I'm a petrolhead but TT's are a new entity to me! I've watched several Parrott Bro's video's and they're a good source of knowledge, you obviously know your TT's well and have enough of them!
Thanks for the comment, I completely get where your coming from, they are just rep cars, cloth seats, boring interiors etc. the tt’s they threw design and quality at them, lovely stylish design. I have a buyers guide which most of it will be relevant to the 3.2, only differences will be Dsg - make sure it’s had reglaur servicing Chains - get them checked and make sure they are in tolerance ( 1200-1500 to be replaced) If you want to run any links past me my socials and email are in the video descriptions. Thanks
@@TheParrottBros je possède le MK1 avec 1.8 180 CV et j'aimerais un 3.2 mais je ne sais pas lequel choisir ça serait pour en faire mon véhicule de tous les jours et je le veut en cabriolet 😃
Both have a place as the MK3 but only one could be first and wow did it change the car scene for me the interior of the mk1 all day long and less tech to interfere 🤔🤫
I don’t really complain about the fuel economy though. I live in the US, plus the other cars I drive are an F-Type SVR, the Cayman in my PFP, and an LR4. As far as I’m concerned, the 3.2 might as well be an economy car at this point 😂
Had my Mk2 3.2 Roadtsre for 5 years, fuel econmy is good but the road tax is outrageous I use it during the summer or from April to November its my daily driver. from November through out the year i have a mk3 TTS which is cheaper on tax but not so economical. I did use to own a mk1 225 which i had facelifted but sold that for my mk2. I Love the TT all variants :0)
I actually originally started looking at MK2's, V6 models until I saw the tax! Can I have a multiple TT's works out the same but it's a bit of pill to swallow stumping up some £600 a year haha They are all audi's & come with a great driving experience that is not a question. id love a yellow mk3 tts for sure
Too many choices I have a 6k budget I have decided it has to be 3.2 purely on sound I've talked myself out of the MK1 so my final decision is manual or dsg I will work towards the TT Rs next year Only want as a toy for a quick weekend blast
Just bear in mind the road tax on the 3.2 is nearly double the price in the uk if your uk based. TTRS are very cool, even standard they sound and perform really well
The mk2 has better rear arms, suspensions and is a little bit lighter. But talking about the 3.2 mk2 hasn't 250 hp at all, unlike the 3.2 mk1 that develoap 255 broke horsepowers
Also to my knowledge the metal body work is far superior and rusting is almost non existent on the mk2's, in the uk the tax cost is double on a mk2 v6 over a mk1 also
MK1 is my daily however do like the MK2 and would consider one in the future, also have a Juke for the family car which is obviously much more comfortable, and has more than 2 seats 😂
@@TheParrottBros Are you serious, you have to pay a road tax, that's nuts, i hope that never comes here. When the mk1 first came out i was simply amazed by the great looks, but i knew i could not afford it. The mk2 is also nice looking as are most Audi"s,mine has one issue though and that's the roof has a malfunction, so i just drive it with the top up,which is ok for now ,but i will have it repaired in the future.
The MK2 is the modern car but it already starts to look dated and dull to me. The MK1 has a timeless design, it also looks way more sporty in base trim. And this is surprising me the most, the interior of the MK1 looks better. More timeless, better designed
Its funny that design accounts for so much even when they are this old when people are choosing a car, audi played it safe with the mk2 trying to appeal to more consumers for sure
Mk1 all-day for me, the mk2 just feels like a tribute
The original is always hard to beat 😎
@@TheParrottBros cool

Mk1 225 coupé is my daily. I did originally look at 3.2’s but couldn’t quite justify daily running coat at the time but I had to have the twin pipes. I love how the little TT drives, you feel involved with it, which for me is important because I just enjoy driving. I find the newer the car the more muted it feels and the more detached you feel from it. TT does everything I need it to and looks damn good doing it.
Good video dude 🤘🏻
Can't argue with that, exactly how i feel. If you dont want a car that you have to fettle with, does what it should and has comfort then a mk2 is the one, for that iconic styling and driver input required then mk1 all day
I have both a Mk1 and Mk2. Love both of them. The Mk2 has over 200k on the odometer and it is still going strong.
Well that is pretty awesome!
I am so glad to see this video by Parrott Bros - I've been tossing up replacing my 3.2 with a MK2 3.2 or TTS so I can fit my kids in the back
TTS for the win mate, go and drive one make sure it gels with you but they are fantastic cars, the mk2 v6 is £650 a year road tax ( just to warn you )
@The Parrott Bro’s I'm in Australia so no tax (yet) lol
@@TheParrottBros also would the TTS be more reliable than the MK2 V6?
Thanks buddy and yeah that would be cool especially as you have used them both quite a bit, we know its all personal preference and of course the mk1 gets more looks, but reliability is a big factor too
I have a 05 mk1 3.2 dsg. I daily it and love it. In 37 years of driving I've got through 144 cars but the tt is a keeper. 👍
Love the description haha! i know exactly what you mean 😂
Yeah my 225 has become a weekender, only because I need the space that my other car offers. That said, I love nothing more than hopping in my TT after a couple of weeks driving my dad wagon and taking it for a well deserved blast, it makes me appreciate it that little bit more. Great vid!
I know the feeling, nothing cheers me up more than a good drive to clear the cobwebs. But can appreciate they are not particularly spacious
Mk1 all day long ..proud owner of a Moro Blue 225 coupe... 146 k ..fsh all the right bits replaced .downpipes and Full Milltek exhaust , love the performance and sound ..😍
Perfection right there!
Im a mk2 2012 fwd 2.0 tfsi sline black edition manual , best daily ive owned fot a daily 37 mpg , looks stunning and quickish stock .
Very much enjoy watching all of your content... But this one I especially liked. Currently running a mk2 TTS (2010) as a daily driver.
Thanks for the feedback appreciate it, i love discussing these beautiful cars and im very passionate about them, i have had some great experiences driving a mk2 TTS around the yorkshire dales and would happilt add one to my fleet when the price dips a littel
I have a mk2 tts and your bang on its a brilliant car
Chipped to over 300 bho
The TTS is something else, specially for a fast road daily, ticks all the boxes
Mk2 3.2 dsg. Last of the naturally aspirated. Smooth as silk when you want and quick enough to have some fun. Exhaust note is addictive too
The exhaust sound is like something from the heavens that gives your right foot this urge to press down aha, i just couldn't pay the uk tax bill for one as its double what my mk1 is haha
Another plus for the dsg. Half the road tax than the manual mk2 😊
Which would you say is better @rAYMONO rAY?
i daily a mk1 225, its stage 1 and has a full exhaust and a sports cat. i suck up the extra running costs necause its a phenomenal car. its got its problems like the dashboard cutting out, and a few rust spots on the wings but i love it nonetheless
Awesome! My dash clocks do the same, one minute they are fine next they all go off 😂. But making the most of the mk1 none the less. Living the dream mate
Have a MK1 224pk cabriolet as daily for a year now, I'm still happy with it.
Awesome! nice to see a cab being used daily
Thats one heck of a combo Black and Tan 😍😍. Cali sun with a roadster bet that turns some heads. Thanks for the channel support
I can imagine that a roadster out there would get awfully warm! nice combo tho, i think in the future i may have a TTS mk2
im looking at mk2 for the looks but where im looking the only quattro is the 3.2v6 all others are front wheel drive
There are Quattro models out there you just find people tend to hold onto them. If uk based the road tax on a v6 is £600
As my daily I’d still have my MK1.
Same here
Same here….Perfect car for me
Mk1 QS all day long.
Sounds amazing, i am actually on the lookout for a 180 dsg for my partner as she is not a fan of manuals, want to give her the tt bug haha
@@TheParrottBros I changed a rubber breather hose got excited of the lights a few times as the car felt faster to me but wheels bounced around with the front wheel drive of the road. I bet with a map they come in you there own! Always nice to get decent mpg
@@TheParrottBros it’s a lovely drive the map makes a lot of difference to normal driving aswell much smoother and nice power delivery. When I bought it it had the emissions fix on it which was horrible constant regeneration cycle and just not suited to the car hence the remap totally different car
2014 mk 2 tdi convertible it was a cracking deal very low mileage and like new condition but I do like the looks of the mk 1.
I have a MK2 DSG Quattro 2011 model yr remapped to 265hp as my sunny day and holiday car.. Love it 👍🏾
I bet that goes well, they sound great being dsg on gear changes
The tts is a well rounded car, specially with the mag ride makes a big difference. Fancy a change?
@@TheParrottBros haha i'm based in Sweden. I'll probably buy a newer car like a I30N or something

Im watching these a year later, bro's got my back
Plenty of content on there to enjoy, even I watch some back to remind myself when it’s been a while 😂
I have had all the above cars except the 205, that's still on my list and i regularly check them haha
Would have one of each, mk1 2 and 3.
Currently have a 225 Imola Yellow (actually the only one ive ever seen in real life)
Would like to add a 3.2 to the fleet soon, but has to be in some unusual colour, dont matter if mk1 or 2.
Great vid as always Dom 👌
I made the switch earlier this year from the mk1 225 to the mk2 TTRS for my 40 mile daily commute.
DSG might be nice but it's expensive to replace the Multiple Clutch. Around 5k after markup on parts.
Like everything its great while it works haha, you have to buy a car based on merit, service history and then some knelt prayers haha, brilliant cars to drive and dont half move
I'd love a 180 Quattro MK1 coupe as a daily, but I'd be bothered about rust all the time. Wouldn't like to use it through the British winters.
For the money I can’t think of another car that would trump the mk2 ttrs and I’ve looked…. A lot! Haha. They are a brilliant all rounder for sure
@@michaeljardine1521 well said!!

Hi Dom
I have a Mk1 that I use as a weekend car.
Thanks Dom
Also looking for a cool gear stick, like your blue one. With that can you still put on the leather boot thing.

Thats awesome to hear they are still being enjoyed for what they are made! love it
Android head unit upgrade for mk2 is easy got a xtrons ps5 made for the mk2 in mine works perfectly and works with steering wheel controls better than the factory one did, totally transforms the car and brings it up to date, owned mk1 and mk2 and prefer mk2 to drive around same engine as (timing belt version) golf gti and A3 2.0t there solid if you maintain them right and easy to tune even simple stage 1 is night and day
MK1 225 ampt to about ~288hp is my daily. amazing car :)
I bet that drives like a dream, plenty of fun without having too much power
Another great video Dom, as you know I have a Mark 1 TT which I love to bits.😁 I think the mark one was the best TT Audi ever so much made I know it's only my personal opinion🤔 but they make you feel so special when you drive them, I had a lady come up to me the other day in the car park and she said WOW!! That looks a gorgeous looking 🚗 car . I personally think that says it all 😉👍
Its iconic, a drivers car and timeless, i often see people staring and i love it, as im the same if i see one drive past..... when im not jumping up and down and waving like a mad man haha
Belle vidéo 👌 😉. TT MK1,. TT MK2 👍 👍 👍 👍. Moi c un. MK2 que je possède 😉.
Je pensais que vous pourriez apprécier cela, c'est une excellente voiture
Merci 😉J apprécie tous les TT 👍 😉
I have a v6 mk1 and wouldn’t change it for a mk2 the mk2 look a little more refined now a tts I would like great video Dom 👌
Thats it mate, that sound coupled with the mk1 lines .... heaven plus a lesser tax bill haha, yeah the mk2 tts is on my hitlist for the future when the price drops a little
I own an MK2. No paddle shift or controls on steering wheel. In fact , I have never seen paddle shift on any mk2. Perhaps you should mention that.
The one I drove in the video had paddles on the steering wheel 😊
@@TheParrottBros clearly. But it's very unusual.
Great video Dom! 😊
Thanks buddy appreciate the comments. It’s a subject I’ve wanted to do for ages and now the prices have some what aligned I thought it was the perfect opportunity.
Owning a mk1 you just have to be at piece with the likelihood of greater maintenance 😂
I’ve had both I loved the mk2 just build lots better but both are loads of fun
In the roadster
I like that nice unbiased opinion 😎
2006 1.8T MK1 163 Roadster is my go to for short trips to my local gym/shops at 48000 miles (No issues, just changed full suspension and brakes all round, upgraded engine hoses to Forge silicone and valves etc before anything happens!), otherwise it's the 2008 1.6 Toyota Auris lol :D
This is a common theme have the tt for fun and something sensible for everything else 😁
Great vid but you forgot the mk3! 😉
Im looking for MK2 2.0 TFSI or MK2 3.2 ideally S-line
Bet its a great car, returns good mpg while still being fun to drive / own
2014 Plate Mk2 Tdi Quatrro 20k from new Great Car !!
I’ve had three mk 1’s and now have a mk2…..they are both very good. The newer one is definitely a better driving car though!
I daily my mk1 cant beat it on looks but the mk2 is more comfortable and interior is so my better so id like a mk1 with mk2 stuff on it
The mk2 seats were tight in the right places i have to admit! if i could give the mk1 some of the mk2 bits i would agree with you on that mate
@@TheParrottBros next project id love the interior in mine seats and dash steering wheel
I'd love to see some MK2 content from you aswell!
Maybe one day, I do have my eye on a TTS at some point in the future
I have a buyers guide which most of it will be relevant to the 3.2, only differences will be
Dsg - make sure it’s had reglaur servicing
Chains - get them checked and make sure they are in tolerance ( 1200-1500 to be replaced)
If you want to run any links past me my socials and email are in the video descriptions.
Thanks
I would get a mk2 with a stage 1 ecu remap for a daily and a mk1 with a fully built engine and stage 3 remap as a weekend car
Sounds like the perfect driveway to me
mine is a mark 1 coupe in red
Both have a place as the MK3 but only one could be first and wow did it change the car scene for me the interior of the mk1 all day long and less tech to interfere 🤔🤫
Thats it, we all know sequels and subsequent models never quite live up to their predecessors, specially if yours is where we set the bar!!
High praise indeed 😂
You can get mk2 in 1.8 right ?
I believe some of the early ones were 1.8tfsi
I have a mark 3 TT, very nice and unique car
I’d easily choose a Mk2, simply because of the modernity. I’m biased though as I have an 08 3.2 6MT
I don’t really complain about the fuel economy though. I live in the US, plus the other cars I drive are an F-Type SVR, the Cayman in my PFP, and an LR4. As far as I’m concerned, the 3.2 might as well be an economy car at this point 😂
Hahahaha yeah I certainly wouldn’t complain when fuel is as cheap as you pay compared to what we do 😂. They sound amazing there is no denying that
Always will love the mk 1; however the mk 2 TTRS six speed is starting to go down in price 🤔
The TTRS is an animal of a car, sounds and looks its great, the prices are slowly creeping down just harder to find a nice well cared for one
@@TheParrottBros The 3.2 is the Rare 6 speed Manual which i love, The mk3 TTS is the Auto DSG in Vegas Yellow, i just love the colour :0)
Too many choices I have a 6k budget I have decided it has to be 3.2 purely on sound I've talked myself out of the MK1 so my final decision is manual or dsg
I will work towards the TT Rs next year
Only want as a toy for a quick weekend blast
Just bear in mind the road tax on the 3.2 is nearly double the price in the uk if your uk based. TTRS are very cool, even standard they sound and perform really well
The mk2 has better rear arms, suspensions and is a little bit lighter.
But talking about the 3.2 mk2 hasn't 250 hp at all, unlike the 3.2 mk1 that develoap 255 broke horsepowers
Also to my knowledge the metal body work is far superior and rusting is almost non existent on the mk2's, in the uk the tax cost is double on a mk2 v6 over a mk1 also
@@TheParrottBros dont talk me about taxes cost ...
I think Italy has the expensivest car taxes in all Europe 😢
MK1 is my daily however do like the MK2 and would consider one in the future, also have a Juke for the family car which is obviously much more comfortable, and has more than 2 seats 😂
Never a bad idea having a japanese car in the arsenal! at least one will be reliable haha
Mk2 with the 3.2vr6 engine , after 2008 they dropped the 3,2 so my pick would be the 2008 Mk2 with the 6 cyl.
It's a nice combination of modern luxury and raw power sound, just in England it would mean £615 a year road tax haha
@@TheParrottBros yep and you could see that even with the choice of engines. The MK2 got a diesel… I mean come on.
Love my Mk1 and I daily it 50 miles a day, but to be honest I'm more comfortable with my B8 A5 2.0T Auto as my daily due to the traffic
Haha thats mad i used to have a mk1 and a b8, the b8 was lovely for comfort but lacked the fun the tt has
Mk 1 all the way. Perfect design and my 225 daily driver has enough power and comfort. Throw the top down and it's pure
Mk1 roadster no less, love it!
