The Audi TT, especially the second-generation, is when I started to call the TT, the baby R8 in terms of the overall design. Of course, it's not a mid-engine car like the R8, but you can tell that some TT design cues were carried over to the R8, especially the lighting.
Honestly, I absolutely love the 2nd generation TTS design wise, it's my attainable dream car in the future, if it even stays attainable and desirable later down the line.
I own an MK2 TT, there are aftermarket multimedia screens that makes the interior look more actual. Living in a big city in Europe funny to see how guys driving Mini Coopers try to show off at the red lights every single time, deeply they know they regret driving a Mini.
Great review man! Finally someone doing reviews in older cars, since car enthusiasts like us buy used cars old the time . Again what an excellent review
tested a 3.2 - love the gutteral VR6, appreciated the comfortable ride ...then found out that the thieving Gov steal over £700 per yr for u to use it ...and sub 28mpg realistically Drove a 90k coupe - would like to try a 50k convertible before I make a final ruling I guess
I have a second generation TTS from 2008 in ice silver metallic! That means the fog lights don't have the silver trim piece and all the silver details such as mirror and fuel caps match the paint itself :) I don't think I could ever get rid of it!
Great review! This is a great looking car! I love the unique color! I have had one of these in the Ibis white color. I would love to find one of these in this color. The only thing I disagree with. I like this rim design on the TTS. It's a special variation. I don't like them on the A4. They do work on the Q SUV as well. Again great thorough review! Awesome to see you in Denver!!!
The TTS will be my next car. Beautiful in every detail. I have a 2002 Mk1 TT and a 2007 Roadster Mk2 TT. Both are gorgeous, reliable, rare, well designed, well built and fun to drive. All the boxes that make a classic. The TTS Mk2 and the Mk3 TTRS will complete the collection. I will have trouble deciding which to drive as they all have very interesting driving characteristics.
I have a white 2010 TTS with magna ride. All the literature I've seen pegs the 0-60 time at 4.9s (likely with launch control). The doors are made of steel, and there is a steel "tub" glued into the car's aluminum frame from the drivers seat back for extra rigidity. Weight balance is 59 front 41 rear if memory serves me right, and the weight is about 3150 lbs. The choice to omit a sunroof was to keep the car frame as rigid as possible and eliminate weight in the upper part of the car where you don't want it. I personally like the Potato Peeler wheels, but to each their own. They are very heavy though (31-32lbs). I bought some 18" Forgestar wheels (18lbs.) and the difference in accelerating and stopping got even better. Reasonable driving yield pretty good mpg closer to 29mpg (mostly highway) which I've measured based on gas used. The center screen can offer a fair bit more of information that can be changed using the end button on right stalk to scroll through the different screens and the comfort and convenience settings. Audi had to make things complicated to change the wiper blade. You must scroll through the settings to release the wiper arms, so you can move them freely and pop them out. Otherwise they motors keep them tucked away so they are barely visible when not in use. The brakes are huge and the car's braking distance is fantastic in stock form. The exhaust comes mainly out the right side I believe at reasonable speeds to avoid attention from the police. When you accelerate hard, a flap opens up to let exhaust come out of both sides in a more free flowing manner and is louder. (Not loud or aggressive enough for me, but it is what it is.) The 2009-2010 models only could accept a towing hitch and tow a 1000lbs trailer. I also found a plow kit here in Canada (Snowsport 180, 6' wide plow blade0 that fits into the hitch and allows me to plow in reverse. BTW, even with the car being so low to the ground it is awesome in the winter. I've been looking to put an air suspension kit together to raise the car 6-8" to make it more capable in the snow. Unfortunately, there is anybody in my area qualified to do that kind of work. Lastly that "shooting brake" concept is nowhere near as attractive as my TTS.
I have a 2011 TTS with the exact same color combination as in the video. In winter's I have nokians and it drives amazing here in Western New York except when the snow gets deep. Those magna ride shocks had to be replaced about 6 years ago and it literally cost me $1,000 US dollars per shock which was shocking. I don't want to go through that again for sure. Like everyone else I wish so badly I could have gotten this in a manual. I've owned this car for about 12 years now. I replaced the factory stereo with a modern one including rear camera several years ago so it has all the modern amenities including wireless Android and Apple CarPlay which was available in aftermarket radios years before car manufacturers started including this feature. I love this car
By 4:30 minutes you've now said TWICE that the full aluminium body means a 50:50 weight distribution in the car. And here I sit wondering what tf one's got to do with the other...? 🤔
The TT MK2 is very reliable on the German TÜV (ministry of transportation mandatory 2 years audits) Engine parts are widely available due to the golf base. Fuel economy is good. Only problems are the hood release lever and the electrical ground connection of the rear lights
i think it’s perfect, except for how the fender meets the hood panel and distorts the shoulder line there at the gap. that little note has always bothered me.
HPA built a twin turbo vr6 version of this TTS and made it WIDE BODY adding 2 inches on each side with 700 horsepower. Truly a Beautiful car! But stock it needs an upgraded motor to truly be a sports car because it comes with only 268 horsepower and can only be stage 1 chipped/tuned to 295 Horsepower. Thats sport and fast but its not enough compared to modern sports cars with 400 horsepower + like the audi ttrs
Need to go put some premium fuel in the tank, cant go for a test drive with the fuel light on! That Dq250 gearbox isnt old school Dsg on newer cars still work like that
what do you mean by "perfect 50/50 weight distribution" ? This TT has like 58%-59% front weight. It is not a perfect 50/50. Not at all. All Audis are heavy up front. Then you repeated the same erroneous claim later in the video. You do know Audis, right?
Just gotta say, this review is full of misinformation. From the "old-school" automatic transmission (they are DCTs) to the car being "completely made out of aluminum".
Given that you talk so much about tt mk1 being "the golf" platform and you are not talking about this in only 4 minutes of video watched I have to tell you that you either are ful of SH or dont know what are you talking about or you have some other goal which you did not come to, first one is vw group A4 PQ34 platform, second one is vw group A5 PQ35 both are used in THE GOLF and the Skoda and the Seat........ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also you are saying it is all aluminum so that is why it has 50/50 weight distribution which both are not true, first it is not perfect 50/50 second it is not all aluminum!!!!!! Think about it logically if it is all steel and it is not 50/50 making it all aluminum does not change weight distribution it does change the weight!!!!!!!!!! What does change the distribution is if you make front of it aluminum and leave the rear made of steel which is exactly what they did so they get closer to 50/50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, your channel name perfectly suits you.

I think it looks the best of all TTs. The newest generation is also very nice, but not quite as good looking in my mind.
For me this design of TT is the best
I've always liked the TT and orange is my favorite color so I would love this car.
Honestly, I absolutely love the 2nd generation TTS design wise, it's my attainable dream car in the future, if it even stays attainable and desirable later down the line.

I doubt it. Minis are fun
@@stevemiller1626umm NO atleast compared to a TT S
This car...just too beautiful. This is one of those cars that make you just speechless and all you can say is WOW!!!!
You read my mind on this model. Love it!! Look at that elegant instrument panel and dash and real gauges. I want one.
The TT-S and TT-RS 8J or like I call it R4 (half of the R8) is a really good car. Underrated as hell.
Great review man! Finally someone doing reviews in older cars, since car enthusiasts like us buy used cars old the time . Again what an excellent review
I have 130k miles on my mk2 tt vr6 manual and it’s a joy .
any major reliability problems?
@ no but a lot of things that have to be sorted out and the cost is high to fix and the shocks have leaked and I heard it’s a common issue.

It’s not an old school automatic lol. It’s a dual clutch dsg dg250. Usual to get the the box mapped if you get an engine map.
I'm not sure he even knew that. The dsg is as fast as or faster than a regular automatic or manual transmission.
I have a second generation TTS from 2008 in ice silver metallic! That means the fog lights don't have the silver trim piece and all the silver details such as mirror and fuel caps match the paint itself :) I don't think I could ever get rid of it!
thats not factory. ALL tts were delivered with chrome mirrors.
@@torac6989 yes! That's what I mean, and chrome matches the silver paint!
I'm curious how is the reliability of the mk2 tts?
@@blackaopsagency for me it's been great so far, but the previous owner took real good care of it, so I can't speak for all :)
@@torac6989there's a huge difference between "chrome" and "silver". Just sayin'
This TT is the car that got me into cars all together as a child. It’s still beautiful and timeless. I’m a little biased tho

The 2nd gen TT is also based upon the later Golf chassis.
The new TTs may be more solid, more driveable, have better drivetrain but I've always preffer the 1st Gen TT, absolute timeless design
10,000% AGREE..of course I'm biased as I'm a new owner of a 2001 TT Quattro Coupe :)
I have the Audi TT a line with the same engine and it’s a lovely little car.
The color is gorgeous!
The orange TT is my dream car, ever
Yay! I have been longing to see your take on this one ❤️
I had a 1st gen Quattro with a manual and now I have a 3rd gen TTS
Thank you 😌

exactly! everybody knows Audis are 55-45 at best, and closer to 60-40, yet this guy keeps putting up this bogus claim.
Anybody can tell me how it goes in terms of reliability and maintenance costs on this cad please thank you

And all the rain water ingress
Thanks for the review, i actually own one...never gonna sell it :D
Did this generation of TT really have 50/50 weight distribution? I thought it was more 60-40 front to rear

Excellent overview!
The TT RS manual is the best TT and the 8J 3.2 DSG my second favourite. I'd have a convertible version of this car in this colour tho as a 3rd.
Wish we knew what exhaust that was.
Audi E-Tron rear light bar would look so good on this TT
Had to fix the faulty mechatronic s tronic box twice within two years
What year model is your audi tt? These gearboxes do not break in audi tt
I have a audi tt mk2 but I wanted it mid engine like a audi r8. So I made my audi tt mk2 mid engine like a audi r8 but the car only weighs 750kg
Need to go put some premium fuel in the tank, cant go for a test drive with the fuel light on! That Dq250 gearbox isnt old school Dsg on newer cars still work like that
I saw the acceleration and thought "wow I am so happy I didnt buy a TTS and went straight to TTRS" lol
I own a 2012 TTS ALL BLACK. It's the best car I have ever owned and driven.
This has the same plattform as the Golf 5 / Golf 6.
But looks so much better!
Si ,ma ha trazione quattro , è più potente ed è 10 volte più bella oltre ad avere un handling migliore . Provare per credere !
No it doesn't. The mk2 has a better chassis. The mk1 tt shared the same chassis as the golf.
Do a peugeot 308cc modernisation.
that concept is basically a scirocco
Got soft as soon as I saw the automatic. I have a mk 1.
Car was 12k used before covid
It’s based on the same platform as the mk5/mk6 Golf.. so still golf based.
That concept was a Scirocco

No manual stick for USA market, maby because some 14- 18% of the Americans can actually drive " the stick". In Europe is right the opposite.
This guy never did his research
The TT mk2 is also based on Golf, mk5. So nothing exotic there...
MK2 tts does not have an all aluminium body
Yes. It was.
Oldschool Transmission? Make your homework Dude!
Still better than any American Transmission. ITS a dual clutch
Jeez, this guy is clueless for a car reviewer! Its on a PQ35 platform, same as the golf, STILL!
Moronic...
I know 3 people that died in TTs....2 were decapitated ☠
Damn! Å
Because they were in a TT, or for extraneous reasons?
And still the RCZ is a lot prettier than this car.
no way!
Beauty lies in eyes of the beholder but clearly audi tt is more attractive to the majority.
