I served in the US Army for 23 years and I trained and served with Canadian troops. They are honorable and formidable warriors and thank God they are our trusted allies. God Bless Canada!
@King Cyrus, He already did; by removing Steven Recession Harper. Trudeau opened trade with 50 new countries [Billions in GDP growth and Millions of jobs], increased Military spending 70%, legalized Marijuana [campaign promise] created no out of pocket expense program for Prescription Medication. Only 2years in office and he's done more for Canada than 10years of Harper, who cut everything including closing Hospitals so he could give tax breaks to the rich and almost drove Canada into a Depression. Harper isn't worthy to shine Trudeau's shoe's.
There is no greater friend, ally and brother than Canada....I recall in 2011 a report of a little girl being afraid when she saw an RCAF F-18 over Seattle - her father told her not to be scared these were the Canadians who were giving our pilots some much needed down time. The RCAF flew air cover for Detroit, Chicago, and Seattle. I have nothing but admiration and love for my Canadian brothers and sisters. Thanks Canada, Merci Canada!
I learned on 11 September 2001, that when Canada sings "We stand on guard for thee," they mean not just themselves. We have such great neighbors and friends. Canada, this is one American who stands on guard for thee.
I'm a Canadian. Thank you. We need to help each other out not hate each other. God bless our southern neighbors. Half my family is american and I could not be more proud of that.
We are getting lots of love from America now, in the past, it wasn't like that, and in the past Canadian's weren't that fond of America because of the lack of acknowledgment. But that's all changed, we love Americans now!
I'd say we're brothers. thank you Canada. you've put up with us for so long. no boarders will ever be built to keep you guys out. as for the Mexicans though. let's just thank them for the tequila. lol
I am Canadian, and proud to be Canadian. Yet, over the years, I've met so many amazing Americans who'd give the shirt off their back to help you out. Just saying because, perhaps you don't like their President, doesn't mean they're all bad people.
@@rileydavidson207 only because the media makes it seem that way. I dare any country to test the relationship between Canada and it's American brothers and sister.
This US citizen absolutely adores Canada and Canadians. We are so lucky to have Canada as our neighbors. I love Canada! Thank you to Canada and all Canadians for being there as neighbors and friends. Bless you great people in Canada!
Thank you so much for saying that. Our 2 countries are always picking on eachother but we know it’s all just in good fun. I read so many comments of Americans saying how much Canada meant to them and how thankful they were. It really warmed my heart and made me realise that we do really have such a great bond. Thanks again for the kind words, may God bless the people of America! ~ 🇨🇦
We need to remove the border between us and create a single market and a North American passport together we ensure China will never overtake North America
And Canadian citizens absolutely love America! We are so lucky to have the protection the US offers, that beacon of hope, that last true bastion of freedom in the world! Long live Canadian/American friendship!
American here, and I'm so grateful for all of Canada's continued unwavering support, candor, kindness, and just plain reliable friendship they've shown us here in the States. I'm a big fan of singing/know all the lyrics of 'O Canada', in both French and English. Even took an in-depth Canadian History course at my university-- which now I personally think should be made part of our standard education-curriculum in American grade-schools at least. Because it's about god-damn respect, and in my opinion I find the lack of general-public knowledge/of what little IS taught here (regarding even the most basic Canada facts) unacceptable. And besides, it's interesting! THANK YOU / MERCI, CANADA for being the best neighbors we could ever ask for! --Cheers from Pennsylvania :)
Canadian here. My class studied the US geography and basic history for several months and that basic knowledge has really helped me. Thank you for expressing your wish that US schools would teach some basics about Canada to your children.
As a Canadian myself, this video always makes me cry. Thank you Mr. Brokaw for this wonderful and respectful portrait of our country. May Canada and the United States always be side by side
+PugsNotDrugs4 Damn right we do. We are few, but we sure know how to fight. The only people who say otherwise are American civilians who don't know any better.
+PugsNotDrugs4 The United States is not what it used to be. I hate the United States cause its no longer a republic based on the constitution. Its a terrorist nation that destroys anyone that poses an economic threat.
Loved to our sweet Canadian neighbors! May nothing ever end our good will towards one another. The heroic actions of Ken Taylor can never be forgotten. Canadian precious hospitality during 911 was a soothing balm to us all who witnessed it. Sending you nothing but the best! May you continue to shine brightly O Canada!!! 🇨🇦Hugs from 🇺🇸
When I was in the NY Guard, I had TWO different groups of Canadians come up to my squad while we were on training details and thank us for our service on two different occasions. One group was from Quebec! I could not believe it. A group of people, from another country, in ANOTHER LANGUAGE (in one instance) thanking me for serving my country. It was really cool and deeply appreciated.
Yes, The Royal 22nd Regiment (Vandoos for Anglos) are based in the Citadel, the formidable fortress guarding Quebec City. The ‘Royal’ part of their name was an honour bestowed by King George V for their valiant bravery in the Great War.
My Son is a Captain, Leopard 2A6 tank commander at Canadian Forces Base in Edmonton and I live in Southern Ontario. In distance, we couldn't be further apart.Driving there would take 31 hours, so of course we fly once a year which is expensive. I miss him, his wife and my 2 grandchildren everyday. Sacrifices are part of every military family. So proud of him and so very proud to be Canadian. I've travelled to many countries in my life, but there is simply no other country like Canada in the world.
He forgot to include how Boston came to the aid of Halifax following the explosion in 1917; an act of kindness that is honoured to this day with the donation of a Nova Scotia Christmas tree that is shipped to Boston where it is lit and celebrated with great fanfare.
We will forever be the two most friendly nations (to each other). May it never be separated. I will raise my children to love America as they love us. God bless
***** Bullshit if you didn't have the population that you do you in no ways would overwhelm Canada. Canada is a damn rich country that has access to the best weapons and tech in the world. Hell we even had nukes until we retired them because we deemed them unnecessary and phased them out for standard weaponry. On top of that you ask any marine or U.S Army solider that has ever even experienced joint U.S Canadian Training and they will tell you the same damn thing. Canadian Soldiers have superior training and are respected around the world for their fighting prowess. I'm not saying Canada is better but you cant just say that we would in no way be able to compare to "American Military might" If we had the same population it would be a different story. Also the U.S received so much military and financial aid from France during the revolutionary war that France went bankrupt shortly after the War. Also think about it this way. If Britain was closer to the U.S and it was logistically easier to transport troops and weapons the U.S would be a commonwealth country today. French people and An ocean are the basis of your countries Revolution. so stop with your damn U.S beats all crap. The U.S is a great country with a great history and culture. I love the U.S i lived in NYC for 3 years and it was wonderful. But please keep your nationalistic B.S to yourself thank you.
8 years after this has been uploaded, and it brought me to tears. Anything paying respectful tribute to Canada does every time. Our countries are so close in so many different ways, and as a United States citizen I am proud to say that, with all confidence, Canada and its people are our friends.
***** Definitely no France. And to the guy above me, the British saved your ass a lot as well. The fact that you needed another country to defend yourself and still lost is proof enough of French military power.
This video always makes me cry. I moved to Canada three years ago from the USA, and I'm love both my countries to an insane degree. I'm damned proud to be an American and a Canadian.
@@monichat lol it’s not about having basic necessities. Sometimes people miss where they grew up. My husband grew up in a third world country, but he still misses his native born country, even after living in Canada for twenty years.
+Danny Fenty Why not try to visit out east? Here in Nova Scotia, we have great scenery, amazing food, lots of rich history to inform and entertain you, and (usually!) weather that makes the whole trip worth your while! Think about it!!!
As an older Scottish poster on RUclips I have affection for both The US and Canada and respect both countries for our alliances over 200 years. I do, though, have a special place in my heart for the maple-tapping moose-humpers who have been the best friend Britain could ever have had.
Born, raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. These comments are truly heartwarming. For my fellow Canucks that will actually understand this. Rest in paradise to Mr. Gordon Downie. One of the most patriotic Canadians that ever lived. Sending hugs to all of you.
Canadians go to war with us Americans and die for us and the protection of America and we would do the same for Canada. How DARE some of you talk bad about Canada. This is why I have a love/hate relationship with nationalistic pride. You can be proud to be from a country but when pride turns to arrogance and thinking you're the best it can and WILL lead to hatred of others who have pride in being something different. I'm an American I love my country. I also love our BROTHERS up North. The great white fucking North salute to you. Sure we disagree we always will. Yes sometimes Americans pick on Canadians calling them little brothers and saying they have funny accents but the majority of Americans mean no harm by it. Same with Canadians i know some pick on Americans but there is no offense meant by it. It's literally what actual brothers do. We're two different nations. But just like brothers we still love each other to the end if someone were to go to war against Canada guess who would be the first nation to come to their defense aside from of course themselves. The USA. If a country were to invade us guess who it would be for us? it would be Canada. From this American to you Canadians I thank you and I love you. Canada-USA. Not allies but brothers.
On November 22 1963 i was in the 4th grade up here in Canada. When news came that JFK had been assassinated my teacher broke down in tears and went home ,we could hear other teachers just sobbing in the hallway. All the students were sent home early. From that day on i realized how close our countries are as friends and neighbours.
Same on 9/11. My grade 3 teacher was sobbing when she told us all to go out for recess. It was strange to us because it wasn’t scheduled but we weren’t going to argue with getting out of class so we made a B-line for the door. When we came back in after about 10 minutes we were ushered into the gymnasium where they had a few tube TVs on rolling carts. They turned on the news. They explained to us 3rd, 4th and 5th graders what was happening and that our American friends were dying. There was a church across the street from our school and the entire student body and faculty made our way over to pray for them. We made flags that combined the Stars and Stripes and Maple Leaf into one flag then hung them in our windows with the phrase “We Stand Together” written underneath. It was in those days after the tragedy that I realized as a young man just how important the relationship between our two countries is, and how I felt a genuine love and sorrow for people I had never met. I certainly wasn’t the only one either. Thanks for sharing your story my friend. Much love to our brothers and sisters in the U.S.A. 🇺🇸
Same story for me. Grade 1, teachers crying, home early. For some reason, I can distinctly remember a MOW railway crew reballasting the train tracks next to our house. We had to wait until the crew finished to cross the tracks to get home. Listened on the car radio to the never-ending news. Very much like 9/11. I also remember see LHO getting shot. Everybody was watching for a first glimpse of ‘The Man Who Killed The President’. If we gotta live next to someone, it’s way better that it be the US, than say Russia, or China. 2016 to 2020 excepted.
I was in 3rd grade when 9/11 happened, and i already knew back then how bad it was. Most kids were just shocked by the images but had no real idea what it meant. I was asking my teacher "How far from here is new york? (montreal is 8hours north of nyc) Will we send rescue troops and supplies? Does this mean they will go to war? Will we send soldiers with them? How many people died?" Even as young as 6 or 7yo, i had been through the border a couple times and visited the border post mini museums with my mom so i knew how friendly the relationship is between us
I was in grade 2 on Nov 22 / 63, in Montreal. They closed school early that day, sent us home. I also remember the morning of June 7 / 68. My dad was in tears as he told me that RFK was assassinated the night before.
It's so strange. We don't usually hear much at all about Canada here in the states (except recently the lovely Mayor Ford). But you guys are so awesome :D *hug from the US*
Yea 9/11 was heart wrenching for us up North. Canadian blood makes us ridiculously sympathetic. Half my class burst into tears when it all happened! :(
You dont hear much about Canada, the country just north of America because you are so self involved within your own country. In Canadian schools we learn about the world. That is why most Americans cant find a major country on a map.
Stevo Robb He complimented Canada and you responded in a rude manner. Ignorance of education occurs everywhere, clinging to stereotypes like yours is what causes hatred or confrontation. Show me an educational study that shows that the majority of Americans, which shouldn't include infants or the like, can't find a major country on a map.
This was one of the nicest presentations i've ever seen with regards to US Canadian relations. With so much hate and negativity polluting the internet and media these day it is sometimes difficult to know who your friends really are.
"Children of a common mother." Very true, and as a resident of that common mother, I can say that Mother Britain loves and is very proud of both her North American children. We Brits would die for our American and Canadian friends across the pond. God bless America, Canada and Britain, and may our three countries be the best of friends forever!
The Queen will always live in our hearts. I'm not European-looking by any means but I feel a great kinship towards the British. It is thanks to the grace of your empire my father was given a chance to flee China. It is thanks to the grace of your children that I am here speaking this English. For this I will forever be grateful.
Harold Wood, Ontario, Canada wrote: Why should we fight" he asked me, "'Cause England is at war? Why are they fighting now, Dad, What are they fighting for? What does it mean to you, Dad, To babes, and mum, and me? The Germans won't come here From away across the sea. So why should you go there, Dad, And leave us here to cry? Is it cause England owns us? Is that the reason why?" His eyes look widely at me, I tightly held my son, And this is how I answered, His questions one by one. "We fight when England calls us, For in her sacred keep The ashes of our fathers Lie in her soil asleep. And many times for England They fought that she'd be free, And they are part of England, And so, my son, are we. And some may pass her by, lad, And some may scorn her hand, But we must be forever A part of that fair land. For everything we have son, That's good and fine and just Was washed in British blood And given to us on trust. "And we must keep that trust, son, Against the force of greed. And fight beside old England Whenever she's in need. And once again she's calling Across the Empire wide, And all her Empire answers: "You'll find us at your side" Oh yes, we're owned by England, But we own England, too, As you are part of me son, And I am part of you"
Peter Jennings Canadian!? My gosh I looked up to this man as a child and mourned his death! Thank you Canada for giving this world one of the greatest journalists ever! ABC isn't the same.
Canada is the best neighbors in the entire universe and there always there for us when we need help, Canada is the bestest friend/brother that the US has ever had and always will be. God bless the US and Canada
The US besides the troll hate commenters, are truly our greatest friend. We have supported them for years as they have us. People fight and squander fighting which side is better but in reality, the soldiers fighting out there, standing shoulder to shoulder, bare Canadian and American flags. We are neighbors and friends.
On September 12, 2001 the RCMP band stood on the steps of Parliament in Ottawa and played The Star Spangled Banner. Someday I want to go to Gander Newfoundland/Labrador and just say "thank you so much". Same for the many other locations who did the same thing. If we would pay attention, the Canadians are our barometer of sanity. Thank you for being who you are.
I'm just a 14 year old girl from Canada and this video meant a lot to me.. Growing up in the 21st century means a lot of fighting and war on the news and to see this video really touched me. I love the US and I love Canada, i even hate it when my canadian friends say "The US sucks!" because they don't.. we are all equal and it's so upsetting that people can't just see that. Oh Canada, Oh the USA, i love you so much. Stay friends please.
ohsnapitsmich Agreed, though I never officially "been" to Canada due to my family not bringing passports I find it to be a rich and free nation and in some ways much better than the US (healthcare, hint hint) and an unbreakable bond between these international economic titans in the Northern American continent. I also hate how so many Europeans assume the us as self concerned, and stereotypical (get the irony?) and look at some children on the internet's opinions from this.
Years ago I was driving through Minnesota and had some serious car trouble and some good Samaritans came to my rescue, and I don't even want to think about what might have happened to me if they had not helped me. So whenever I see Minnesota plates up here I try to help and be nice to them in any way possible. Thanks America!
Ok. As a Canadian (Brampton Ontario Canada) I have been reading the comments and wow. Just wow. I am so flattered by all the wonderful things y'all are saying about us Canadians. It warms my heart really. Thank you for being such great friends and neighbors. 💜💙💜💙
I watch this now and it makes me so sad. This was done during the Vancouver Olympics in 2010. I remember watching it then and my heart nearly burst with pride. So much as changed since those wonderful two weeks and the Canada /US relationship has taken so many hits since then it's just sad. With so much hate and misinformation being spewed by so many people (especially one in particular) the last few years I'm not sure how much longer this special relationship will last. If things go badly the next few years God help us all.
Not only me but US Canadians. and like I said "some". For no reason, Americans say stuff about Canada that aren`t even true, especially the event when a TV news called FOX insulted our military before. What worse is that, at that time there were 4 military that died. It was really sad. There are more stuff but I don not want to make this big, for that reason why I hope for them to stop it.
As a Canadian I say this; As much as we give you Americans a hard time, as much as you scare us sometimes. There is no other country in the world we would want to have as our neighbours. We will have your backs as long as you will have ours.
Very nice. For over 200 years, despite some cultural differences and disagreements, our two nations have remained close friends, allies, and trading partners, and both have prospered. Let’s ensure we maintain this relationship for another 200 years and longer!
When my grandparents came to the US from the old country, they came first to Canada, and were welcomed with open arms. Canada has always had a special place in my family’s hearts. 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦
While we may have had our spats and our differences, I can't think of a better ally than our friends to the north, here's to you Canada, you've given us Americans a lot of cool things, Rush and Hockey just to name two, and your country is very beautiful
As a Canadian, I spent the past 3 years plus trying to warn the people of the USA of what was to come and I know that there have been Americans for that same period of time trying to warn the people of Canada of what was to come. Im certain I was not the only one which means that a nation of citizens are constantly on guard for each other even when our political leaders are not. God Bless the USA.
One of the great things about being American is that when asked who the best friend this country has ever had is, all we need do is point north.... no words necessary.
+Juliette Prowse Don't make the mistake of confusing the government with the people. Don't generalize and don't assume.....you know what happens when you do that.
America is Canadas older brother. Sure the two tease each other and pick on each other from time to time but when a serious situation arises, like all brothers, we can count on each other with a unparellel amount of trust.
+Evan Ritchey LOL! Yeah....this year I thought we had a chance to steal the World Series trophy away from them...and hold it "hostage" for Lord Stanley's Cup....sigh....dang Yanks. HELL, I even see the Baltimore Colts name on the Grey Cup! (But only once has the USA snuck that trophy away from us!)
I was born in Canada, and have lived here my entire life. The only time I’ve ever spent the United States, was a thirty-six hour period in 1991, when I travelled to Providence, Rhode Island to attend my first KISS concert, at the age of sixteen. Despite this, anytime there is an international hockey tournament, my loyalty lies with the Americans. I’m not quite sure why, all I know is that I’ve done that for as long as I can remember. One thing of which I’m very sure though, is how infuriated fellow Canadians become, anytime I watch a game at a bar. Never was this more true, than when I joined my friend’s at a sports bar in downtown Yellowknife, NWT for the first showdown between Canada and the USA at the 2010 Olympics. The USA won that game 5-3, so I had plenty to cheer about... and my fellow countrymen had good reason to be sour. In typical Canadian fashion, the disgruntled fans of Team Canada took the loss poorly, and what had started as good-natured ribbing, became slightly more agitated aggression. One intoxicated fellow came over to our table and yelled at me, calling me a “traitor”, and most everyone else took a turn throwing bones from their chicken wings in my general direction. In the end, it made for quite a memorable evening. I was even able to get all of the wing sauce out of my precious USA Hockey jersey. Why do I do this? As I mentioned, I’m not 100% sure... I’m confident that my love of stirring up shit could play a small role. In the end, who knows? It’s just something I’ve always done.
Proud to be Canadian, 12 years later, and we are in desperate times, seeking truths behind lies, seeking justice behind injustices, re-discovering our history and finding the tragedies put upon our early First nations tribes. Struggling economically, and all people on edge. May we all get through these toughest of times Together.
Canada has always been a fierce defender of our liberties. As much as we usually thank young Americans, we shall not forget young Canadians, young Britons, young Australians and young New-Zealanders, and many others, who gave their lives to save Old France. It is with honor that your sacrifices shall forever be remembered. Thank you Canada, thank everyone of you, nations that uphold the true value of freedom and peace....
Tom Brokaw did such an incredible job on that piece. I had tears in my eyes. Canadians whether or not we always agree with what our neighbors do still show up when they need us.
The soldier that made the comment before me made me so very proud!! Thank you much for your kind words. God blesses Canada n America too. We are not the coldest country..we have always been looked at as "The Great white North. Remember Alaska. They are far colder than most of Canadian provinces. North n South Dakota as well. We are not cold ppl. We are trusted kind and decent people. We stand with America in many many wars. But we don't always stand in the limelight. We stand quietly in the background.. knowing we are tough people. Between Canada n the US there will always be the largest unprotected border in the world. What does that say you? We don't flag wave as much as the Americans..but understand we are Patriots. We just don't need to relay this to all. Unsaid but never undone. We stand on our own two feet. No matter what the climate and or circumstance. I'm so proud to be called Canadian. Always have always will. We walk quietly but carry a very big stick.
I recall hearing a comment made by a Japanese government official who said "Taiwan is a precious friend of Japan". I believe this describes the mutual relationship between the US and Canada, and I hope it always will.
Hi Canadá! I'm a Mexican born American. I've visted Montreal and Toronto, twice. I live in Florida and we get lovely snowbirds in the winter. I can't wait to visit Vancouver. I hear it's beautiful. First, I have my homecountry of México to discover. Hasta pronto. Cheers!!
I am a proud Canadian and through my years of life ive went to the US and ive met so many Americans, helpful and we have so many benefits there and they have them here. I live close to the Windsor-Detroit border and often went on the Ambassador bridge to the states. Many people dislike Americans, but they aren’t what they think they are. Americans are very nice and loving and caring people and they have a big role in us Canadians lives. If the politicians are bad, it dosent mean all Americans are bad. We are so lucky to have a neighbor like the US. God bless the US And Americans for everything they did for us. We love US 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 💕
Was brought here by the Dwyane Wade incident. A Canadian posted this in the comments list. Man what a great video, and a great Country. Canada, you guys are awesome.
Through eachothers darkest hours (9/11, war, now Covid-19) we the people all rise to support one another. Canadians who work in your healthcare system cross the boarders daily to show up to fight the invisible enemy we are facing together. Our PM says he will talk with your president because he know how important our neighbors/family our to us as we are important to them as well. Now as not a time to divide us because in this invisible war all we have is one another and that goes for the whole human race, the world! Watching this was just a reminder of love and compassion we all have inside us, that we are all a little braver because we have one another in these dark hours, that stretch to days, weeks, months ect. I thank everyone who has left a positive messages and if I don't make it for whatever reason, I am honored to have called you allies. We got this, we will prevail and we will continue to left and be there for one another🥰 In the good and bad a inspiring story always arises from the ashes of dark times~Kristal
@@AZickmund You guys might have had a little temper tantrum in Boston but still, you can't deny that you didn't have the same mother as the rest of us. And after all, wasn't that what this Tom Brokaw segment was all about. We all come from the same place, experience the same joys and endure many of the same hardships and though we are all from the same family, we have our moments of disagreement but in the end it's all about family and values. We are the same. We just have an imaginary line drawn between us.
We couldn't ask for better neighbors/partners than Canada. Its truly painful to listening to ignorant people bash each other over issues we are probably not even qualified to speak of. This video is a great reminder that the big picture is one of beauty. Our countries are almost one of the same in so many ways, and together we have build a pretty good life for ourselves. God bless our northern neighbors and we appreciate you very much.
I can still Hear his Voice when he would do the Opening of his NBC Nightly News Show every Evening while I Sat at my Dinner Table doing my Grammar School/H.S. Homework during the early 00’s up until he Retired in 2004 from that still current “REAL-News Show”. My Mom would watch Him(Tom Brokaw) Every-Night when she would Comeback home from Work; ahh 💭, the Memories of being a young kid.🥺
As a Canadian I've always had great love for the USA and our American brothers and sisters. May our two countries always be united, respectful, loving and caring to each other.
Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 🇨🇦 🇺🇸
I love Canada & Canadians - thank you for being our allies & not turning your backs on us. No matter who our President is or will become, true America will always love you.
I'm not religious. But I have no other way to express myself other than with these words. God Bless Canada. God Bless America. Oh what I would do to meet a Canadian. You're truly our best friends, and best allies. I hope I can maybe study abroad in Canada or at least live there temporarily. You Canadians really are amazing and the United States is very thankful for you guys. The only way I'd ever voluntarily join the military is if the United States is in danger, Canada is in danger, or if I'd be able to work alongside you Canadians. ~Your friend from below, in the USA. Take care, brothers and sisters ;)
Potato Pal "The only way I'd ever voluntarily join the military is if the United States is in danger, Canada is in danger," Yes, yes and fucking yes. I think the rest of the world knows this too. Mess with Canada and you have America to answer to.
Allot of people also forget that the Vancouver heavy urban search and rescue team, which arrived in Lafayette, Louisiana on the evening of August 31, 2005, arriving on a WestJet Airlines aircraft. Due to security and logistics issues in the disaster area surrounding New Orleans, the team started operations on September 3, saving 30 people that day. They returned to Vancouver on September 6, reportedly saving over 110 people during their deployment. It has also accepted some evacuees to stay in Canada. The Canadian Forces also provided several Griffon helicopters and crews to the New England States at the request of the United States Coast Guard whose search and rescue helicopters from that area have been assigned to Gulf Coast SAR operations. Canadian aircraft were deployed as part of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) military assistance pact after Hurricane Andrew. This is only a couple examples. Our Linesmen also assisted in restoring power as did American Linesman after the Quebec ice storm.
+Gencturk92 So many beautiful places/cities here to choose from. Don't forget the East Coast, lots of American expats here in Nova Scotia. Halifax is a great small city and you are never more than 40 miles from the ocean, no matter where you are in the province (besides we're a lot friendlier than the folks in TO and Alta! West coast is breathtaking too (but expensive!).
Watching videos about Canada makes me cry, especially when they're from an American perspective. I'm so grateful to live in this wonderful country. The best country in the world. I might never say this enough; God bless Canada.
Whoever gave this a thumbs down is well I won’t say! Finally a comment section that is respectable towards something wonderful that is a fact!!!! Thanks for all the great comments! As a Canadian I give my thanks and respect to all of our great friends in America ❤️✊
I served in the US Army for 23 years and I trained and served with Canadian troops. They are honorable and formidable warriors and thank God they are our trusted allies. God Bless Canada!

The RCAF flew air cover for Detroit, Chicago, and Seattle. I have nothing but admiration and love for my Canadian brothers and sisters. Thanks Canada, Merci Canada!

Canadians go to war with us Americans and die for us and the protection of America and we would do the same for Canada. How DARE some of you talk bad about Canada. This is why I have a love/hate relationship with nationalistic pride.

I was asking my teacher
"How far from here is new york? (montreal is 8hours north of nyc) Will we send rescue troops and supplies? Does this mean they will go to war? Will we send soldiers with them? How many people died?"
Even as young as 6 or 7yo, i had been through the border a couple times and visited the border post mini museums with my mom so i knew how friendly the relationship is between us
I was in grade 2 on Nov 22 / 63, in Montreal. They closed school early that day, sent us home. I also remember the morning of June 7 / 68. My dad was in tears as he told me that RFK was assassinated the night before.

It's great when Americans tell us that they really do love us and care in their shy little way.
+ ThisIsRick
So true haha!
screw the americans!
“their shy little way” 👍😂
One of the great things about being American is that when asked who the best friend this country has ever had is, all we need do is point north.... no words necessary.
+Juliette Prowse Don't make the mistake of confusing the government with the people. Don't generalize and don't assume.....you know what happens when you do that.
+Juliette Prowse Yeah I'm American and lived in France was was married to a French woman. How old are you?
Aww Tom gave a shout out to his buddy, the late great Peter Jennings
Isn't that "The Late,Great Buddy Holly"?
Thank you Tom Brokaw . and thanks to our neighbors below the 49th parallel, lovely comments, definitely heart felt and appriative.
America is Canadas older brother. Sure the two tease each other and pick on each other from time to time but when a serious situation arises, like all brothers, we can count on each other with a unparellel amount of trust.
If I had Canadian soldiers, American technology, and British officers I could rule the world. - Winston Churchill
Churchill never said that. Google could have told you that in a few seconds.
@@jaybee9716 What he really said was: "If I had Canadian technology, British soldiers and American officers, I'd be screwed...
I love the USA! Unless we're playing you in hockey lol
Evan Ritchey Same for you Canadians.
+mapearce1 It's okay, we'll get 'em this year on the baseball diamond!... I hope...
Evan Ritchey -- Fair enough... but a little rivalry is tolerable. (Can be fun even! Eh?) :-)
USA and Canada are the best countries in the world.

I'm proud to be Canadian and I'm proud to have amazing brothers and sisters down south.
+Rico Calico I f yer in NWT, Nunavut or the Yukon pas de problem hhehehee!
Robin Williams on Canada: You are like a really nice Apartment above a meth lab.

We love US 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 💕
@@WheresYourToque i think both are equally nicer to eachother but Americans are more powerful
The two greatest nations in the world. May we live and work together for eternity. God bless America and God Bless Canada!!
We got this, we will prevail and we will continue to left and be there for one another🥰
In the good and bad a inspiring story always arises from the ashes of dark times~Kristal
As a Southern American I personally love Canada and its people
We love you too :)
The United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are like a big family, siblings all born from our common "mother", The British Crown.
I’m pretty sure there is some tea in Boston that would beg to differ about that crown stuff!!!
Johnny Mac Right back at you from Canada
I can still Hear his Voice when he would do the Opening of his NBC Nightly News Show every Evening while I Sat at my Dinner Table doing my Grammar School/H.S. Homework during the early 00’s up until he Retired in 2004 from that still current “REAL-News Show”.
My Mom would watch Him(Tom Brokaw) Every-Night when she would Comeback home from Work; ahh 💭, the Memories of being a young kid.🥺
This made me feel warm and fuzzy

I'm not religious. But I have no other way to express myself other than with these words. God Bless Canada. God Bless America. Oh what I would do to meet a Canadian. You're truly our best friends, and best allies. I hope I can maybe study abroad in Canada or at least live there temporarily. You Canadians really are amazing and the United States is very thankful for you guys. The only way I'd ever voluntarily join the military is if the United States is in danger, Canada is in danger, or if I'd be able to work alongside you Canadians.

I LOVE CANADA AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE UNITED STATES. I HAVE FAMILY WHO LIVE IN CANADA. WHENEVER I VISIT CANADA, I FEEL AT HOME.
+Joyce Kelley I want to move to Canada, Toronto, Alberta and Vancouver is so nice. Have you been to either of these places, whats it like ?
+Gencturk92 So many beautiful places/cities here to choose from. Don't forget the East Coast, lots of American expats here in Nova Scotia. Halifax is a great small city and you are never more than 40 miles from the ocean, no matter where you are in the province (besides we're a lot friendlier than the folks in TO and Alta! West coast is breathtaking too (but expensive!).
Watching videos about Canada makes me cry, especially when they're from an American perspective. I'm so grateful to live in this wonderful country. The best country in the world. I might never say this enough; God bless Canada.
