I saw Audioslave in Chicago during their first tour in 2003 at the Riv. They were fantastic, wild and sounded like gods. I was in the front row to the right with long bright red hair and Chris stared right at me singing the line "every drop of flame". I will never, ever forget that night.
I really like Audioslave. And I'm fine that they only released 3 albums. The first album was fire. The second album was pretty good. The third album was okay. Based on that trend, a fourth album would have been released only to meet record label obligations and probably would have been crap. We were spared that. Not every band, or project, is going to last. Sometimes it's short lived, and that's okay. Audioslave called it quits at the right time and should be proud of what they released.
Apparently they have at least an album's worth of unreleased material according to Morrello. Hopefully it will see the light of day eventually. Also, Moth might be the most underrated song in their entire discography.
I was there as well. I was close to the front and it was really sweltering in the auditorium that Halloween night, so it was funny when CC called out Brad for "playing eight straight songs wearing a f****** gorilla mask". Great show and I liked when they played "sleight of hand".

The first album of Audioslave was so awesome as well as the others. You couldn't go wrong the lead singer of Soundgarden and the band of Rage against the machine.
Extremely underrated and phenomenal band.... I was lucky enough to catch them live 7 times, and they always blew the roof off of whatever show they were in.... Lollapalooza 2004 (the last touring one), they co headlined with Jane's Addiction.... Jane's looked absolutely pedestrian compared to Audioslave (And Jane's is PHENOMENAL).
@Luke Critically they were shit talked back in the day (honestly, most music critics are idiots who are either elitists who try to flex whatever music knowledge they have... The more obscure, the better.... Or they're only interested in whatever music they personally like, and will bash everything else). AS were trashed for "not being RATM or Soundgarden enough", and ironically, for being "TOO much like RATM and Soundgarden". Yes they sold well, yes they played phenomenal live shows (and historic ones in Cuba, and on top of the Ed Sullivan marquee), but this band easily has put out some of the best music in the last 30 years, AND had 3 successful albums in a time where many other super groups struggled to put out a sophomore release. They truly should be spoken of more, rather than in the "that little side project, the Rage guys did with Cornell".

“ ...it proved that the band could stand alone from their previous bands”. Well, Tom, Brad and Tim are the band and they had been amazing for years. That 1st Lp is a masterpiece! Had that in My car for almost a year, never got old!
I REMEMBER I WAS OBSESSED WITH RAGE AND ANTICIPATED THE FUCK OUT OF THAT FIRST ALBUM!
Love the one shot of Tom playing guitar with The Strokes and Beach Boys albums super clearly in the back
From Italy. They played in a rock festival in Bologna. Opening bands were Slipknot and Prodigy. It was a swell night.
Che culo
Yup, Cream, Blind Faith, Transatlantic.... The exception was Emerson Lake and Palmer
I saw Audioslave in Chicago during their first tour in 2003 at the Riv. They were fantastic, wild and sounded like gods. I was in the front row to the right with long bright red hair and Chris stared right at me singing the line "every drop of flame". I will never, ever forget that night.
Audio Slave is a badass name and a badass band
I really like Audioslave. And I'm fine that they only released 3 albums. The first album was fire. The second album was pretty good. The third album was okay. Based on that trend, a fourth album would have been released only to meet record label obligations and probably would have been crap. We were spared that.
Not every band, or project, is going to last. Sometimes it's short lived, and that's okay. Audioslave called it quits at the right time and should be proud of what they released.
Greatest super group of all time. Audioslave always played their asses off and put on great shows.
For as many people were throwing around the RATM copycat sound of the debut album, it sounds the most heaviest and bass heavy and it sounds awesome!
Apparently they have at least an album's worth of unreleased material according to Morrello. Hopefully it will see the light of day eventually.
Also, Moth might be the most underrated song in their entire discography.
I agree with moth being really underrated, and i wish a studio recorded version of techno ted on that album.
It saddens me that Audioslave broke up in the first place. Sure wish Revelations was toured on. RIP Chris. Hope you are resting easy man.
Saw them in Halloween in Lowell MA, Brad wore a gorilla mask for the entire show, talk about commitment
I was there as well. I was close to the front and it was really sweltering in the auditorium that Halloween night, so it was funny when CC called out Brad for "playing eight straight songs wearing a f****** gorilla mask".
Great show and I liked when they played "sleight of hand".
yeah, it was a fun show
@@gregoxford5809 What, the Pearl Jam song??
@@maximummatt73 , no but as it would be with CC and his long history with PJ, TOTD, MLB, GR, it was cool that they shared the song name, but not the same song: ruclips.net/video/LjMCjFaJiUE/видео.html
The first album of Audioslave was so awesome as well as the others. You couldn't go wrong the lead singer of Soundgarden and the band of Rage against the machine.
I loved this band.
Man this band was fucking awesome
Extremely underrated and phenomenal band.... I was lucky enough to catch them live 7 times, and they always blew the roof off of whatever show they were in.... Lollapalooza 2004 (the last touring one), they co headlined with Jane's Addiction.... Jane's looked absolutely pedestrian compared to Audioslave (And Jane's is PHENOMENAL).
I never saw them. One of my biggest regrets. I was busy being a family man during that era, but I didn't miss out on how fucking dope their sound was
@Luke Critically they were shit talked back in the day (honestly, most music critics are idiots who are either elitists who try to flex whatever music knowledge they have...
@@rayanthonyrobles5162 I fucking loved Soundgarden (not to mention RATM was also the shit). Still my favorite band of all time. It took me minute or two to adjust to Audioslave. I don't know what to expect. I knew I liked it, but very quickly I became enthralled with the sound. One of the greatest bands of all time
“ ...it proved that the band could stand alone from their previous bands”. Well, Tom, Brad and Tim are the band and they had been amazing for years. And Chris ... is Chris Freakin Cornell who has been doing this for DECADES with SG and alone.
So, they really didn’t have to prove anything. Anyone who felt that these guys needed to prove something to them are fools.
I remember seeing Audioslave as the Co-headliner with Janes Addiction on the Vans Warped Tour.. one of the best concerts I have ever seen and I have been to hundreds of concerts in my life 🔥 Audioslave wrote some amazing music, although I still prefer Soundgarden and Rage, Audioslave was a masterful collaboration
There one of my all time favorite bands. Rip Chris Cornell
This was more a therapy for Chris than something for the long run... The albums were musically similar. Tom pulled a few new guitar tricks, but they kind of dont fit the songs. Always 3 mire albums with Chris unique voice :)
I told my daughter 24 years old to listen to Be Yourself, first thing she said. Wow, great voice.
Well spoken bro👍
RIP Chris Cornell, kudos to the Rage boys to be able to put that on simmer, while they did that. Hindsight is always 20/20.
All 3 albums were awesome... so how did they fall?
Chris Cornell won the award for "Singer with most severe case of TDS" as well
They wrote their debut album in 3 fuckinf weeks!!! When I hear stuff like that I always ask why didnt they keep that creative process going? Maybe the best album of all time.
