My name is Kaiya Pelletier and I am documenting my metal journey as I discover and listen to metal music for the first time ever. I'm in my mid 20's and I've been a singer songwriter and performer for over 10 years. Currently I live in Stillwater, Oklahoma and I am in the process of recording my 4th album. I have a Bloodhound named Spooner, I love Mexican food, collecting Stephen King novels, collecting CD's and cassettes and my favorite movies are tied between Jurassic Park and Alien.

Miss them so much. It’s weird, you wouldn’t think Type O would bring back a warm fuzzy feeling into my heart but they definitely do.
Peter Steele was such a warm person in private, had the pleasure once about a year or two before he died, he made time for anyone who appreciated his work.
Pete is chilling with Lemmy & an endless amount of booze RIP 😎
Cuddle up with a thick blanket in a dark room. Makes everything better. Especially with headphones.
Better than bullshittimg with drunk housemates.
Same here 💚
You're not alone! Peter Steele will always be a vocalist that I'll forever miss.
The fact you are one of a VERY few that listened to the uncut/full length version of the song, you have my respect
RIP Peter! You are so sorely missed, my friend! What a voice!!!
I saw them in 1995, this was the last song in their set. They had their road crew tearing down their stage while they were playing the song until that drum outro was all that was left happening. Then the drums were the last thing torn down.
Epic
I saw them a few times, had to be '94 (with Pantera) and Ozzy another time I think. All I remember was the entire band had long ass black hair head banging all over the place (keyboard player for sure. ha) and Peter keeping a stool next to his mic stand with at my show a bottle of Jack. I know he had wine a lot of times but I recall Ol' #7 at one show. He mentioned it and tipped it up!
amazing story they would do that! thanks.
"This song is about HAIR DYE?!?!" Yes. Yes, it is. Type O are distinctive, fantastic and (not to date myself) are a core part of my college memories. Thanks for a simply great reaction and bringing me some joy!
Oh I laughed out loud at that!! Er, YES!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
this song seduced so many girls to turn goth back in the day. nice to see the old magic has lost none of its dark power
I bought this album back in the early 90’s as a blind buy. I’ve been a fan ever since.
Entire album is fire. 🔥
Don't know about fire but it was good when it came out. Guitar riffs are killer
Definitely fire. 🔥
@@daveshank1921it’s perfect
100% fire 🔥🔥🔥
@@daveshank1921It's the best fuckin' album EVER-GREEN and BLACK FLAMES 🖤💚🖤💚
Absolute legends! I love how this song has become a goth anthem, all the while totally poking fun at the goth vibe! Great reaction!
When I hear the word "gothic" I instantly think Type O Negative. No one could out-goth Peter Steele. He was truly the Alpha and Omega of goth. I was one of those who thought he was a literal vampire back in the day. 🧛
I remember seeing them in '95 in Dynamo festival in front of 120.000 people Steele said in the middle of the set: "I've got to take a quick piss, I'll be right back." and left us standing for 2 minutes midshow.
Well no one wants to argue with a guy the size of Steele
I saw them in 1996 on their "October Rust" -tour and when they were touring Finland. I also met Peter Steele, briefly, but I did...he came beside the stage after the show and we were there waiting for autographs and so on. He was really polite and greeted us before we did...he was a big guy :D I mean, I'm 6 foot myself but Peter was really tall.
Look up the live recordings of Dynamo '95 where he drinks a bottle of red wine, which compared to his size, looks like a bottle of beer!
haha, dude was like what 6'5+?
6'8"@@muriloninja
I shook the Big Man's hand on the World Coming Down tour (I snuck backstage). Straight up it was like grabbing a bunch a bananas. HUGE HANDS. HUGE GUY. Got to sit down with Kenny and Johnny for a bit, but I was so gobsmacked I barely spoke the whole time.
I for one just want to say thank you for listening to the full album version of the song and not the MTV video that everyone else reacts to.
Great band, you should listen to October Rust too, it’s a thing of beauty!
Glad you used the album version with Peter's great scream, "SHE WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
A masterclass of the 90’s
I saw them in 94 I think..they opened for pantera. Great show! The singer is a monster. Looks like a 7 foot tall Nordic vampire.
I saw them on the same tour in Cincinnati! The idiot promoters set out folding chairs as soon as Pantera comes on Boom! Chairs went flying lol they had to make an announcement please stop!!!
1995
Best band to hear on great headphones! Saw them and Life of Agony in 1995 in a small club in Lawrence, Kansas! Mind blowing.
Their albums played on a tube system is next level.
I'd love to see her reaction to "Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity" lol Now that's a doozy.
The live version 😁🤘
Yes ! a must lol
Haha, anything from Slow, Deep and Hard really.
@@thehoundofhorror5120 Yep. Or Carnivore's "Retaliation".
Not gonna lie, one of my favorite songs lol
NICE!! You did the full album version! Be sure to do the same with Christian Woman!
Both of these songs are longer and (de)composed as "suites" of varying arrangements.
Black No 1 has 2 parts : I. Little Miss Scare-All / II. Loving The Dead
Christian Woman has 3 parts : I. Corpus Christi (Body Of Christ) / II. To Love God / III. Jesus Christ Looks Like Me
Other songs follow similar formulas.
Their first album has a few, but they're much faster and aggressive than most of the stuff that followed over the next few years. One might consider the debut album material to be "leftover stylings" of the Carnivore era (Slow Deep And Hard was supposed to be Carnivore's 3rd album).
The only problem with the early stuff of the first album is the song titles (and the suite section titles) were so complicated that it resulted in inconsistencies on live/compilation albums, as evident on the not-so-live follow-up, Origin Of The Feces.
Christian Woman for sure.
I believe I read somewhere that slow deep and hard was rushed and Peter Steele wasn't really happy with how it turned out and he was also pretty much a perfectionist.Thats why they went back and released a more polished album with better production and even a fake crowd in the background with Origin Of The Feces.(I actually thought the crowd was real the first time I heard it right after it was released when I was 13)
@@ronaldclayton4232
I actually heard it was due to some squabble the band had with the label (Roadrunner), that they insisted the band to put out a live album, and Pete one over on the dopey execs by just re-recording some of the SD&H tracks and dubbing in a live crowd.
If it was due to Pete's perfectionism and dissatisfaction of the whole album, why not re-record the whole album? Some songs are missing (Waste Of Life), so I have my doubts about that theory.
And given the sloppy way songs just abruptly end on following releases (Bloody Kisses, October Rust), I'm not convinced about any "perfectionism", lol.
But yeah, that crowd was convincing - it cracks me up how Pete tells some "fat bastard" to eat shit and to "dance to this" after you hear some one yell "Ya can't f*ckin dance to it!"
The funniest for me was after the "bomb scare", and Pete announces, "This is gonna be our last song!" and the "crowd" goes wild, and you can hear "It's about f*ckin time!" and "Get the f*ck off the stage!", hahaha,
Good stuff.
@@ronaldclayton4232I read that it was recorded as a demo, but instead of re-recording it properly, the label went ahead and released it as-is. This annoyed the shit out of Pete, so when the 'live' album was being discussed, Pete decided to have the last laugh, all the while incorporating a bunch of the wild ass shit that they dealt with on the 1991 tour of Europe.
When I first heard Type O the riffs and Peter's voice are what caught my attention but it's their sarcastic and self-deprecating sense of humor that made me love them.
i’m forever thankful for my mom not just because of everything she does for me but because of her music taste. i never would’ve known about this band along with many others if not for her. i love you mom, thank you
First i hear it 30 Years ago, best Band ever
Great combination of Peter Steele"s lead vocals and Kenny Hickey's Chorus part. Josh Silver's keyboards set the mood and great drumming by Johnny Kelly as always
This was recorded before Sal Abruscato left the band and he's credited on the album, although I'm pretty sure this was the first recording on which they used programmed drums.
@@apathyvox My bad. Always thought that Abruscato only played on the first two Albums
@@apathyvoxWrong. The drums are Sal's, and he actually played them on/for the album.
@@thunderspike1892Sal DID play on only the first 2 albums-SD&H and BK, the latter of which contains 'Black No 1'.
@@arthurbishop3173 You forget The Origin Of Feces. So he recorded Slow, Deep & Hard, TOOF and Bloody Kisses
Thank you for listening to the full version! So many great breakdowns.
Saw them a few times in the 90's, hung out with them on their bus, and always regretted turning down their invitation to roadie with them for a few shows. They gave me a Jerky Boys cassette when those guys were still underground. Ah, the 90's and having a super hot short skirt wearing concert buddy. These guys were the most relatable every day guys when you had time to just chill with them.
I love ❤ Type O Negative and they are my favorite Gothic Metal band of all time! Those albums are the best albums to listen to in the Fall 🍂🎃
October Rust is for October for sure🤘
I saw Typo with Pantera. Watching Phil come out and sing with Peter Steele was awesome.
They pranked each other all the time, even during sets
Best Halloween song EVER!!!!!!!!
type 0 is amazing💚 black no 1 is a “fun song” of theirs lol and yea i always loved that outro. Brooklyn.
If you're checking them out, you HAVE TO listen to Anesthesia (with lyrics) ^^
One of my favorite bands and biggest influences, as well as one of my favorite songs of all time. 🤘💚🖤🤘
You're going to love Type O Negative. Songs like Christian Woman, Love You To Death, Anesthesia, September Sun are great recommendations. Actually just check out both the entire "Bloody Kisses" and "October Rust" albums.
pyretta blaze
Peter Steele was an unforgettable frontman. The guy was 6'8 with long black hair and Russian features, he looked like a fucking giant vampire come to life. His vocals set Type O Negative apart from every other band of their time. RIP.
I’m in love with this particular version ❤
This whole album is so awesome!!
More Type O Negative please 🙏 💚🖤🙏
RIP Peter Steele. I'm new to them as well. I heard about them over the years, and I remember when he died. That's when I looked into their stuff. They're friggin' AWESOME! Great reaction vid :)
I love Type O Negative, been a fan since the 90's! I'm happy your reacting to them...They are definitely Goth Metal but I never really considered them Doom. They were amazing live, saw them 5 times in the late 90's and early 2000's every time they played Toronto and they closed the show with Black No.1 every time!
Beautiful reaction. Beautiful reactioness. Beautiful band. Loved it all.
RIP Peter Steele! One of my favorite songs that I can still sing by heart. I always felt the Harpsicord and snaps were an ohmage to The Addams Family. It's long, but the changes keep it from being boring..I love the rain in the background near the end..another favorite from this album is their cover of "Summer Breeze".
Literally the perfect Halloween song.
Ive heard that a million times but i still get chills lol
I love Kenny's voice. Check out his other bands Seventh Void and Silvertomb.
Oh you really have a ton of their songs to listen to. You'll be amazed how much they will be your #1 band.
Seen them on Halloween up in Allentown pa at crocodile rock ..great night!
"Anesthesia" is Type O's best song!!!
‘Love You to Death’ is perfection.
Unsuccessfully Coping With The Natural Beauty Of Infidelity is their best song for me, by far… especially the fake live version.
October Rust is one of my favorite albums of all time. It's amazing.
I remember seeing them in concert in 97 with I believe Coal Chamber if I remember right. I have to say, for being someone that have seen thousands of concerts, and yes, that number is real, (I was a bouncer at a heavy metal concert hall in Hartford CT for many years.), I can honestly say that their live performance was the best I have ever seen/experienced. Yes, I have seen a lot of good shows, but being at a show 25 years ago, and it's still sticking in my mind must say something.
Saw these guys open for Queensryche in Boise 3 days after I had the whole top 1/3rd of my stomach cauterized.
The bass hit me in the chest like a sledgehammer, but they were so good live... 🤘😈
That was an awesome tour!
Great reaction ❤️
What's great is the catalog TON has. I listen to them every day, and it's the only bad that I never get tired of listening to. Anesthesia, Nettie, I don't wanna be me, September Sun, I could go on, but they are such a talented group. I'm glad you enjoyed this one, now do more XD... Please.
your color scheme is on point
One song from the same CD as this, "Bloody Kisses (A Death in the Family)", is a nearly 11 minute heavy funeral dirge from Peter Steele, and years later he admitted it was for his 18 year old cat that died.
i got to see them live opening for ozzy back in the mid 90s, they put on a great show.
TON was the soundtrack to my life back starting in 94 through the rest of the 90s, love this band so much, back when I was a pot head the song black no.1 and the whole album took me on a trip took me on a trip with or without a buzz but sometimes the buzz would inhance the music, R.I.P the great Peter Steele
Love anything Type O. Was my late brothers favorite band. He got me into them and I’ve been hooked ever since. This is probably a better known song but there are many better ones in my opinion. Maybe just because I heard it so much. Will keep an eye out for more
type 0’s whole deal was black sabbath meets the beatles
I remember eating mushrooms and melting to this in my bedroom back in the day!!! 😀 ❤
Tomorrows my first day off after 14 12hr shifts underground, mushrooms and Type O sounds like a good way to spend it, I have an ounce of shrooms ready and waiting. My favourite shrooms and music experience is Rush 2112, but Type O sounds delightful, especially bloody kisses and october rust albums back to back.
I met Peter in Vegas in ‘08 and I still have the photo he autographed for me. I would highly recommend Anesthesia by them
I love your reaction to this Goth Industrial band ❤
Type o negative is my favorite band ever been a fan since 1993. Its not for everyone and they have never been "trendy" and i hope it stays that way.
FUCK trendy-STAY NEGATIVE 💚🖤💚🖤
They're best, or one of their better albums, at least.
Bless you Kaiya! This was one of the few things that helped me today.
No, it's their BEST 🖤💚🖤💚
love type o negative 💚
Love you to Death, preferably original music video but also live, i believe captures most of what type O negative are.
4:22 yup 🤘
"is this song about a hair die?" me: kind of but what a masterpiece that kicks! RIP Peter you are missed
Hell yeah!
that entire album was awesome ,October rust- green man !! Miss this band!! RIP Peter Steele

Greatest band of all time. October rust is the greatest album ever recorded
Yes and no: DEFINITELY the best fuckin' band EVER, BUT.....'Bloody Kisses' is the(ir) best album ever recorded. OR is second or third (behind SD&H).
@@arthurbishop3173 Every one of their albums are the best albums ever recorded.
This is straight 🔥🤘😃🤘
I was about 12, circa 1996, when I discovered this band. In the in of grunge, and I loved grunge, but I loved metal more. And then I here these guys. Holy shit. Not metal at all...but are? So damn unique. I've seen these guys live touring with the likes of Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir and they always stood head and shoulders...quite literally with Peter Steele being a fucking 6'8 giant.
This song has Tributes to TV shows. Mentions Lily Munster at the beginning, then the finger snaps from Addams Family.
I saw they around 1995, they opened for Pantera and Black Sabbath it was an amazing show.
Seeing him pick up a full size bass and play it was awesome. He had an amazing bass voice. RIP Peter Steele.
CARNIVORE.
My favorite Band of All Time
You can hear Peter Steele's rolling R's even in one of his early bands from the late '70s/early '80s called Fallout.
I’ve been going through their catalog again and have been keeping track I think trills every “R” if there is one in a the song lol. Miss TON and Pete so damn much.
8:04 totally 🤘
Wolf moon ,love you death, everything die,all hollows eve ,plenty more just a few to try out
Not sure which you did but Cinnamon Girl and My girlfriends girlfriend from October Rust (and their videos back in the day) was their most mainstream songs :p
RIP Peter Steele….saw them 12 times. Every time kicked assssss 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I saw them live 5 times back in the day, October Rust is such a good album from start to finish, yoy should check it out and listen to it a few times, not just one song
So on a type o run right now. I decided all of October needs to be them....They are so underrated as a band
Every day is Halloween, i.e. every month is a TON month. Autumn is just MORE special than the others 💚🖤💚🖤
"That escalated quickly." I literally clicked to watch that 😅
RIP Pete 💚
Remember them well. I lived their music.
Perfect music for spooky season. You should definitely check Out Peter steele (bassist and vocalist) Crossover Thrash band he was in before type o called Carnivore. Their debut is the perfect mix of Punk, Thrash, Goth, Traditional Heavy metal, and Doom metal. I recommend the songs “Male Supremacy” “Carnivore” and “Predator”
WOW !
Bloody Kisses (DDD CD) & after are Type-O-Negative's best. The Black Capes, The Midnight Computers, Tapping The Vein, and The Sisters of Mercy (1rst album Remastered) are cool Goth type too
They also did a very good cover of Cinnamon Girl.
Happy Halloween! Baby.
i had three albums bloody kisses october rust and life is killing me nice groovy and sound atmosphere
Creepy new wave with some distortion is basically Type O Negative.
Peter seducing from grave.. We’ve seen it before. Rest in peace, big guy.
the official video is good but thx you for not using it as it is cut down.
I can't explain why, but Type O Negative is sort of my go-to summer band.
Goth girl summer.
Who can resist their cover of Summer Breeze?
October Rust is a my fav album. I recommend Love You To Death
Peter steele’s voice flooded many floors.
