Firstly, you're right that warm orange should've been Asha's main colour, especially when her antagonist is in cool blue and acid green. A bright yellow and gold Star boy is also a reason.
Secondly, my preferred rewrite is for Asha to be Magnifico's apprentice, below the royals but above the townsfolk, and she becomes crown princess after defeating Magnifico AND Amaya since she's the closest thing to an heir. She gets to be a princess but on her own merits.

Why do i feel like, if you got a bunch of disney fans together, they could all make a better "Wish" than Disney's.

RIGHT??? Specifically the Disney-Critical Fans, not the diehards, they like anything Disney throws at them it seems. Genuinely, I just wish (lol) they went with their original concept. It was SO good and so unique, and the more I see about it, the more backstabbed I feel LMAO, we truly were robbed of such an amazing movie. I just watched a scrapped animatic of Starboy and Asha singing the At All Costs song together, and??? I linked it in my community tab but it was SO GOOD??? I’m so upset thats not the version we got

You just helped my Wish fanfic! I always wanted the purple dress to be Asha's apprentice uniform, and you just made that happen. In my version, the pink and orange dress is her civilian attire, and she alternates between the two looks because I love them both.

Thanks! Starboy is in my fanfic--he appears in Season 2 (it's a series), and he's modeled after Snow White because that's who I associate with warmth and hope. Modeling Star after aromantic characters like the Genie felt weird.

Really love the cultural/historical accuracy of the outfit. I love a lot of the redesigns people have been coming up with, but it’s pretty refreshing to see a design that fits the culture the character is meant to be from. She also looks gorgeous!

I really have been living for fashion history lately and art history in general, it’s so interesting and disappointing how a company as large as Disney isn’t taking history into account when writing period pieces and giving characters cultural backgrounds but doing nothing to tell said story in the design. I understand you have to keep things simple for animation but you can still throw some stuff in there! I appreciate your comment!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who re-designed Asha with a red color scheme. Your design fits the original style better.
Yesss, I also loved the orangey tones of her original design, and in my animatic for it, I couldn’t add the colors, but it’s so much better than the purple! Also, in mine, I made Asha and the whole kingdom kind of based on North African Maghreb, which I’d heard that was the original concept and it sounded so appealing. Like the first African Disney princess, instead of her supposedly being Afro-Latino. And I love how in some way you also made Asha African! All in all, I really like your design on her.
The orangey warm tones of her skin are SO NICE and the purple didn’t compliment it at all, it really muddied her skin out and it was disappointing because she glows in warmer colours. I love that you did that with your animatic (and just watched it- great job!! You earned a subscriber!) the only reason why I didn’t do that is because I was trying to stick as close to the canon movie/concept art lore as possible! But if I made an AU (which is unfortunately unlikely, considering I have enough projects rn HAHA) If probably have her be more African leaning because I fully agree, Disney acts like they’ll cease to exist if they make a black woman aside from Tiana a princess (and even then, they made her a frog for 75% of the movie) 😒 TYSM!! yeah, the purple was such a lame attempt, and the dress was very boring. When you talked about how her dress glittered at the end kind of in a transformation, I didn't even notice when I watched the movie lol. Also, thank you for both enjoying my animatic and subscribing, it means a lot :) I had so much trouble deciding how much of the movie I wanted to keep and such, but I did really love the backgrounds and the conflict even though it was sloppily done, but yeah, no if I had known how much hard work would go into making my AU kind of animatic, I probably would be like no way. I'm still so irritated that Disney refuses to make any Disney princesses and princes actually African, even if it were the paler skin tones of Africa, like please, we've had every continent, and the one time we had someone who was supposed to be descended from that continent, they made her into a frog T^T what kind of message is that?? So glad, I got to see your interpretation of the movie, and I also subscribed! I'm looking forward to seeing the other character designs you'll do. @@Amelie-Rain
i agree so much that the purple dress was boring and muddies asha but warmer tones make asha glow! i saw some concept art where she's wearing an orange dress (i think) and she looked so much better, more unique, _radiant._
one important thing i want to point out though is that asha's maternal heritage is _north_ african, not south african -- two very different cultural regions! specifically amazigh, the indigenous peoples of north africa who have many subcultures of their own. as someone who loves learning about SWANA ethnoreligions and indigenous identities, that's another thing we were robbed of: proper representation of asha's amazigh heritage. it didn't have to be a focal point, but i wanted something more than... this!
and i love how much you're head over heels for starboy because i am the same LOL. he's the most painful loss of the concept art; we could have had disney's equivalent of jack frost AAAAAAA

I plan to! I actually have a poll on my community tab to decide what my next art video will be and designing another one of the characters is on the poll! :) I tend to get hyper fixated on things so I’m letting my audience pick the art videos I make so I’m being challenged rather than just doing whatever my ferret brain wants LMAO
I absolutely LOVE IT ❤ I also did a redesign of her except all I did was make her original dress orange 😂 but made her ROYAL dress a beautiful red based on the Iberian peninsula culture which asha and Rosa’s is based off of !

It’s sad that the person who controls Disney’s movies is against romance stories and traditional Disney, thinking that love means to make female characters weaker. Such a shame for Disney.
I liked Asha’s design, but I hate her dress and her quirky girl personality.
