I love your take on the RH Rebrand situation. As a Shadow High and Rainbow High doll collector, I have had to see and cover the leaks before the Rebrand even happened, and it was intensely disappointing to see the unfortunate changes to the Rainbow High doll line as they were happening. They also removed wrist and thigh articulation from the dolls with the RH Rebrand, which really limits how much you can dress them and restyle them, as well as making the outfits more basic and not as high-fashion as they used to be. Part of the reason for the lack of characters in the RH Rebrand line compared to past RH lines is because MGA may be trying to re-focus on the Core 6 RH characters, especially Sunny, with the RH Rebrand. For Amaya's dolls, her Fantastic Fashion doll is easily her best doll, in my opinion, while I intensely dislike her Slime doll from the Rebrand. I also feel like the Poopsie Pets really don't belong or make any sense existing in the Rainbow High universe at all. There is literally no lore to explain their existence in the RH universe.🖤💜

I LOVE the brown skin you gave amaya,,she looks SO pretty Im still upset that RH got rid of all the brown/Black characters in the reboot expt for sunny & skyler-they were getting so good at their diversity(with series 4 having all the girls be woc) yet now they did a whole 180 I rlly do think both amaya & bella should have been brown, amaya for the reasons you listed & bella cause her skintone IS her core color-it made her look like a pink blob I always viewed victora as the superior bella lol shes still white yeah but her skintone isnt the same as her core color-its much more golden/warm toned plus her having freckles all over her + body blush made her much more unique - i really do think bella would benfit from having a dark brown skintone to balance all the pink on her

I love the take on Amaya. I've never owned any of the dolls because of the price, but I have seen the show. I just wanted to add my own Drabble on one of the characters that I feel like was both well used but barely used at the same time, Violet! She had a lot of focus in earlier episodes but then wasn't utilized at all later on. I know nothing about writing or character design so may the storyteller gods forgive me. My idea for how I would write her for this kind of reboot is by making her a self conscious socialite basically. I keep the influencer parts but change her personality a bit to show a little more of the self deprecation she shows without anyone else around her in the Rainbow Vision episode. I noticed that while her hair is vibrant, most of her outfits are white to dull colors of lavender so I want to play into this with her backstory of not having much inspiration but still getting in through following trends. She always feels like she has to be on all the time so she puts up a rarity like personality for friends while inside feeling like a fraud for not actually being creative and maybe also getting into Rainbow High through personal connections from a rich family. I would also think it would be interesting if Sunny was still her best friend but also just a big super fan who boosts Violet's fragile ego. Also the magical pet would be an be a sunbird that carries around her phone. This was way longer then I thought, thank you for listening to my Ted talk!

Perhaps some interesting information. Big reason for the reboot was because the quality of g1 resulted in the price of the dolls to be very expensive, especially overseas, which just meant limited sales across the board. Market wise Rainbow high did not sell nearly as well as the OMG dolls which were on average 10 to 15 euros (I’m European lol) cheaper. The target audience, young girls, preferred omg too, which has a more playful style compared to rainbow high. In fact the main consumer of rainbow high seemed to be fashion doll collectors over young girls. Besides, rainbow in its first year brought out so many dolls that even collectors complained because of their price. Price seemed to be the main issue, which the ceo has said that they want to stick to this more LoL OMG colorful glittery style and not have dolls that go for more than 25-30 bucks at most just to make them accessible to a larger demographic that can warrant spending that much on a doll for their child. It sucks because I loved the old dolls, I also love your Amaya redesign! But I’m very sure they will stick with this more child centered from now on and not revert back to the old designs.

idk about the doll line as i was first very excited about it but after hearing your take on it, i am sold on ur version. super love ur take on amaya as i too was a bit iffy about her introduction and how she didnt have a main thing about her(altho i totally definitely relate) hopefully MGA would think twice about this reboot with the writing department and the creative department in terms of where they want to take this line, cuz it looks to me that its having a bit of an identity crisis
I love this new design and her new pet look and focus, it makes sense and gives all the main girls (which for me should include Bella and Poppy) their own focus. This new design solved all of my problems with the reboot doll also yay for diversity! I’d watch the show more if it went in your direction. I’m glad this came in my recommended and I can’t wait to see the rest of the girls!

I was drawn in by RH content. But I went to subscribe when precure was mentioned I love your take on the concepts and characters. You really took the fantasy element and made it work so I gotta hand it to you. Amaya is ADORABLE. Brown is a beautiful color on her. I think RH had the potential to be a great show, but got blinded by competition shows and money. I would highly suggest listening to the music. Compared to other doll lines the music lowkey stands on their own without cringey "girly" lyrics.
The pet is sooooo cute in your style and so is the design, your story makes so much more sense and actually gives me hope they may be able to fix things of they listened to your take lol, as a doll collector I’d definitely collect the new dolls if they used your designs 💖🫶

As an artist too here I am very amazed by your analysis and your idea about how you design Amaya! Everything was really good with what you looked at like character’s personality. The color palette is really good! You using a darker skin tone for diversity and applying the idea of her being a hair stylist as her focus to fill in on that hair topic adds a lot! At first for me I usually think when someone has the same focus as you there definitely can be ways to add conflict with the other to make it so while they have the same focus doesn’t mean they are the same but RH didn’t really do much with that or/thought of applying that. and of course the pets! I mean like why are the pets the same design from Poopsies (i really was not a fan when I saw those and why. Why did people think they would like it.) like ugh-! it’s like you said demons 💀 I have watched the show and I definitely think there’s a lot that can be done with the magic aspect. I think why it feels difficult is how they can diversify it so it’s not like similar to other well known stuff, I mean that’s my thoughts on it but that’s the only thing I can imagine why it can be difficult. But with your idea about “inspiration” is great! Like the idea of lesser or greater “inspiration” affecting the character’s appearance and how it applies in their world setting is fun! (Just a little bit here the reference picture you used was the sprite companions from Kira Kira Precure A La Mode; not Healing good Precure and off topic healing good is okay just wish the plot was more solid and character design choice (talking bout Cure Earth).) Overall this whole video made me laugh and agree with a lot of points you pointed out in the show
Hello! I really like your takes on the RH reboot so far. I’ve never bought any of the old dolls due to many of them being too expensive, but I have watched the episodes and admired the franchise from afar. If your version of RH ever becomes official, I hope that the dolls are more affordable for everyone. Moving on to the characters themselves, I always thought that it would be a great idea if the characters were designed after iridescent materials / items/ animals. Examples: Violet-backed starling for Violet, Labradorite for Skyler, and Rainbow Obsidian for Jet. I mean, the show and school are called ‘Rainbow High’. It would make a lot of sense if at least some of the characters were based off of things that have a rainbow sheen to them. This might help you out with the ‘set of colors for each character’ since many of these items come in a variety of colors. As far as the pets go, (with the inclusion of horns on all of them) I feel as though they are missing a big opportunity to simply have the pets be creatures that already have horns, regardless of whether they are real (deer, narwhals, sheep, etc.) or mythical (dragons, chimeras, jackalopes, etc.). Much like what you said, having the pets be regular animals but with horns doesn’t make much sense (it also feels lazy to me). Keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for this series!
Gosh, I LOVE the vibes of this video! Okay, so your persona is absolutely gorgeous and I'm already in love with that design, but then you showed off how you do your other characters, and then Amaya herself, and I'm just over here cheering because YES, oh I love the way you do art! Your style is so fun, your fashion has a lot of fun textures, and I'm so into that. Normally I don't click on videos about redesigning characters of series, because so many of them leave me feeling kind of icky with how the artist will talk down about the original series and act like their designs "fix" it. It just seems, really pretentious, if that makes sense? I think what I like most about yours is that you're not only fair about it, but you're also thoughtful when talking about how you construct things. The constructive criticism was actually constructive! Like yeah, having that much white/rainbows on Amaya's design IS a lot to take in, she would benefit from more contrast to break it all up, and you have the language in your toolbox to be able to communicate that. It doesn't ever feel like "this thing sucks mine is better", and I really appreciate that. You seem genuinely invested in what you're making and passionate about this story. This is very much YOUR Rainbow High, and that's really cool. I hope to see more of what you're doing down the line, what a fun journey this will be!

I dont know if I 100% like your reimagining of RH because im really attached to certain spects that RH already had established (in my head if they ever redo RH it would be alot more like my little pony or Winx lol) and the power system you described doesnt really make much sense to me b u t I love and adore your creativity. Your character designing is very cute and very well done. You have very clear inspirations and sytle and that really reflects in your work!
I dont like they reboot style. Mainly Violet, she's looks like a woman who was partying with her girls and is so drunk that Skyler need to hold her so she cant fall in the ground and break something, and she's all sweaty covered with sweat mixed with gliter, and is just trowing up everywear because she's drink too much after knowing her crush was married and he kissed her the day before.
I love everything about your RH concept and Amaya's rewrite! But I don't really understand the direction you took for her outfit. It's super cute and I love your designs, but it didn't really feel like Amaya to me. Even though the elements like the jacket and chains were there, it still somehow came across very lolita and gyaru in execution as opposed to the elegant high fashion Amaya is known for (or at least that they want her to be known for). That being said I do love the changes you made to her herself. The brown hair is brilliant and you found such a perfect balance for the rainbow accents! I hope this doesn't come across as rude and I apologize if the critiques are unwarranted. I love the entire overhaul concept you have going for this series and I'm super excited to see more! Poppy is my favourite of the main cast and I feel like she'll really shine in your style!

The inspection of the series started as dolls who wear high name brand fashion, since us doll collectors haven't had that type of fashion in years. Which was the reason i loved the dolls, i may not being able to afford these type of fashion but seeing my dolls wear them made me happy since some of these are just so gorgeous 💖. I kinda wish they just keep it as a normal thing with no magic. I just really want them to go back and focus on fashion since that's where it all started.
I dont why rainbow high is trying to be like monster high, no one wants this reboot. Rh was good how it was, but the writing does need to get better. ANYWAY i love your redesign and i watched the full video!

Ive had this idea for a rewrite with like sunny being the protagonist and ruby and skyler are secondary main characters (like how in mh its clawdeen, frankie, and drac) idk i think it’d be cute to see the primary colors be a trio
I like your rewrite of amaya, but i think the redesign need some ajustments. (THIS IS A LONG READ)📄 First off, its too detailed. As you said the more doesn't equal the better, so i advice you to purge some of the bows, stitches etc. Second, its better only to chose gold jewelry (including belt chains) because it stands out from the white & black in her outfit unlike silver would. But if its something in her head area, white would be a better option to not clash with the hair. Third, i recommend you to assign diffrent motifs to each character. For example g1 draculaura's main motifs are hearts, ruffles & bats. These elements apear all through out her dolls. What you had chosen for amaya was bows, hearts, ruffles, lace & chains in her main looks. In my opinion thats a little too much & doesnt fit your description of amaya. Hearts make sense for drac because she is a hopeless romantic, it has meaning. My proposal for amaya's motifs would be: 1. Rainbows (as in the symbol 🌈) 2. Chains (to represent how she is "chained" to the bad thought about the needing to please everyone) 3. Clothes made from transparent material ("transparent" people are those who share their true opinions, that is something amaya will be achieving though out her journey in rainbow high) 4. Rain drops 💧 (representing her occasionally overflowing emotions, the rain before the rainbow & her last name "raine") •••• Thats basically it. At this point i should redesign her myself lol, but i dont really do digital art. Im also no expert at character design, this is just my personal opinion.
Making the show have an actual protagonist is amazing But it would sacrifice the Amaya replacing Bella drama In my opinion, that drama was amazing There were no right or wrong side and everyone feels justified about their feeling in the situation Maybe, in this version Bella could be the first leader since she is the smartest and overachiever But when Bella was kicked out, Amaya replaced her as the new leader And they all feel very confused since Amaya is a follower and they feel like she is replacing Bella It is not as good as the original drama but it would still work imo

I like your concept for RH. It's creative and well written and the your amaya redesign is cute. Tho tbh something I liked about Rainbow High was the lack of magic. Just art school students with colored hair being entertaining on their own. I don’t like how every kids show has to have magic in it.
Some fans are still waiting for a "Next Gen" of Ever After High, and no update. If there's a "High school" series that needs a reboot, it's Equestria Girls. I mean, yeah FiM is done and over with, but to be fair, EQ never had a proper conclusion after the last episode, so we never did find out what the outcome or conclusion of the series would've been. If there was a reboot of EQ, I think they should make the school more like a "Magical High School", where the humanized Ponies learned to harness their abilities and powers depending on what species of Ponies they are: Unicorn, Pegasi, Earth, Crystal, Breezie, Kirin, Hippogriff, etc. But it won't be just a school for humanized Ponies, it's also a school for humanized creatures from the FiM series: Griffins, Yaks, Changelings, etc. But yeah, I can completely see Equestria Girls being rebooted to have a fantasy themed school, fitting of FiM.
Personally I don’t want a reboot of EAH, unless it’s gonna be more like the books. But I highly doubt they’ll do it with descendants still around, maybe I’ll do both EG and EAH for a series 🤔
Its definitely a cute redesign but please actually research what an aesthetic is actually called before just calling it y2k, and while i do think as a brand having rainbow on every outfit it also made it seem like every student only buys their clothes from the schools merch store. With that all said I'm looking forward to seeing where you take your project

Ikr. 😭 but dw, my sona is getting a redesign with new sprites, but this video was actually homework for college so I didn’t have time to whip them up and had to use my old ones. Plus I can guarantee my usual designs for ocs n such don’t look like this, when I drew it I had the mindset that expressing myself was more important which having to draw it so often proved otherwise 😭😭 LESSON LEARNED
@@iianarchiiii your design actually has many great qualities to it (particularly color palette) but it's overcrowded to the point that it's incoherent to look at because everything distracts from everything else (like my eyes look anywhere except at the face, which ought to actually be where the eye is drawn to the most so the viewer makes a connection with your sona and their expressions/personality). it's definitely fixable/adjustable though. you don't have to (and shouldn't, if it's important to you) get rid of the decora vibes, but you could look into streamlining some of the elements. it will make your sona MORE memorable, not less, not to mention it will be easier for people to make fanart for you! sorry if my original comment came off as harsh, i generally don't see youtubers replying much so i thought it would probably be ignored. also yes, the new redesigns for RH are really... really bad lol

I love your take on the concepts and characters. You really took the fantasy element and made it work so I gotta hand it to you. Amaya is ADORABLE. Brown is a beautiful color on her. I think RH had the potential to be a great show, but got blinded by competition shows and money. I would highly suggest listening to the music. Compared to other doll lines the music lowkey stands on their own without cringey "girly" lyrics.

Everything was really good with what you looked at like character’s personality. The color palette is really good! You using a darker skin tone for diversity and applying the idea of her being a hair stylist as her focus to fill in on that hair topic adds a lot! At first for me I usually think when someone has the same focus as you there definitely can be ways to add conflict with the other to make it so while they have the same focus doesn’t mean they are the same but RH didn’t really do much with that or/thought of applying that.
and of course the pets! I mean like why are the pets the same design from Poopsies (i really was not a fan when I saw those and why. Why did people think they would like it.) like ugh-! it’s like you said demons 💀
I have watched the show and I definitely think there’s a lot that can be done with the magic aspect. I think why it feels difficult is how they can diversify it so it’s not like similar to other well known stuff, I mean that’s my thoughts on it but that’s the only thing I can imagine why it can be difficult. But with your idea about “inspiration” is great! Like the idea of lesser or greater “inspiration” affecting the character’s appearance and how it applies in their world setting is fun!
(Just a little bit here the reference picture you used was the sprite companions from Kira Kira Precure A La Mode; not Healing good Precure and off topic healing good is okay just wish the plot was more solid and character design choice (talking bout Cure Earth).)

Hello! I really like your takes on the RH reboot so far. I’ve never bought any of the old dolls due to many of them being too expensive, but I have watched the episodes and admired the franchise from afar. If your version of RH ever becomes official, I hope that the dolls are more affordable for everyone.
Moving on to the characters themselves, I always thought that it would be a great idea if the characters were designed after iridescent materials / items/ animals. Examples: Violet-backed starling for Violet, Labradorite for Skyler, and Rainbow Obsidian for Jet.
I mean, the show and school are called ‘Rainbow High’. It would make a lot of sense if at least some of the characters were based off of things that have a rainbow sheen to them. This might help you out with the ‘set of colors for each character’ since many of these items come in a variety of colors.
As far as the pets go, (with the inclusion of horns on all of them) I feel as though they are missing a big opportunity to simply have the pets be creatures that already have horns, regardless of whether they are real (deer, narwhals, sheep, etc.) or mythical (dragons, chimeras, jackalopes, etc.). Much like what you said, having the pets be regular animals but with horns doesn’t make much sense (it also feels lazy to me).
Keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for this series!

Gosh, I LOVE the vibes of this video! Okay, so your persona is absolutely gorgeous and I'm already in love with that design, but then you showed off how you do your other characters, and then Amaya herself, and I'm just over here cheering because YES, oh I love the way you do art! Your style is so fun, your fashion has a lot of fun textures, and I'm so into that.
Normally I don't click on videos about redesigning characters of series, because so many of them leave me feeling kind of icky with how the artist will talk down about the original series and act like their designs "fix" it. It just seems, really pretentious, if that makes sense? I think what I like most about yours is that you're not only fair about it, but you're also thoughtful when talking about how you construct things. The constructive criticism was actually constructive! Like yeah, having that much white/rainbows on Amaya's design IS a lot to take in, she would benefit from more contrast to break it all up, and you have the language in your toolbox to be able to communicate that. It doesn't ever feel like "this thing sucks mine is better", and I really appreciate that. You seem genuinely invested in what you're making and passionate about this story. This is very much YOUR Rainbow High, and that's really cool. I hope to see more of what you're doing down the line, what a fun journey this will be!

I dont know if I 100% like your reimagining of RH because im really attached to certain spects that RH already had established (in my head if they ever redo RH it would be alot more like my little pony or Winx lol) and the power system you described doesnt really make much sense to me

I dont like they reboot style. Mainly Violet, she's looks like a woman who was partying with her girls and is so drunk that Skyler need to hold her so she cant fall in the ground and break something, and she's all sweaty covered with sweat mixed with gliter, and is just trowing up everywear because she's drink too much after knowing her crush was married and he kissed her the day before.

I love everything about your RH concept and Amaya's rewrite! But I don't really understand the direction you took for her outfit. It's super cute and I love your designs, but it didn't really feel like Amaya to me. Even though the elements like the jacket and chains were there, it still somehow came across very lolita and gyaru in execution as opposed to the elegant high fashion Amaya is known for (or at least that they want her to be known for). That being said I do love the changes you made to her herself. The brown hair is brilliant and you found such a perfect balance for the rainbow accents!
I hope this doesn't come across as rude and I apologize if the critiques are unwarranted. I love the entire overhaul concept you have going for this series and I'm super excited to see more! Poppy is my favourite of the main cast and I feel like she'll really shine in your style!

The inspection of the series started as dolls who wear high name brand fashion, since us doll collectors haven't had that type of fashion in years. Which was the reason i loved the dolls, i may not being able to afford these type of fashion but seeing my dolls wear them made me happy since some of these are just so gorgeous 💖. I kinda wish they just keep it as a normal thing with no magic. I just really want them to go back and focus on fashion since that's where it all started.
I dont why rainbow high is trying to be like monster high, no one wants this reboot. Rh was good how it was, but the writing does need to get better. ANYWAY i love your redesign and i watched the full video!

Ive had this idea for a rewrite with like sunny being the protagonist and ruby and skyler are secondary main characters (like how in mh its clawdeen, frankie, and drac) idk i think it’d be cute to see the primary colors be a trio
I like your rewrite of amaya, but i think the redesign need some ajustments. (THIS IS A LONG READ)📄
First off, its too detailed. As you said the more doesn't equal the better, so i advice you to purge some of the bows, stitches etc.
Second, its better only to chose gold jewelry (including belt chains) because it stands out from the white & black in her outfit unlike silver would. But if its something in her head area, white would be a better option to not clash with the hair.
Third, i recommend you to assign diffrent motifs to each character. For example g1 draculaura's main motifs are hearts, ruffles & bats. These elements apear all through out her dolls.
What you had chosen for amaya was bows, hearts, ruffles, lace & chains in her main looks. In my opinion thats a little too much & doesnt fit your description of amaya. Hearts make sense for drac because she is a hopeless romantic, it has meaning.
My proposal for amaya's motifs would be:
1. Rainbows (as in the symbol 🌈)
2. Chains (to represent how she is "chained" to the bad thought about the needing to please everyone)
3. Clothes made from transparent material ("transparent" people are those who share their true opinions, that is something amaya will be achieving though out her journey in rainbow high)
4. Rain drops 💧 (representing her occasionally overflowing emotions, the rain before the rainbow & her last name "raine")
•••• Thats basically it. At this point i should redesign her myself lol, but i dont really do digital art. Im also no expert at character design, this is just my personal opinion.

In my opinion, that drama was amazing
There were no right or wrong side and everyone feels justified about their feeling in the situation
Maybe, in this version
Bella could be the first leader since she is the smartest and overachiever
But when Bella was kicked out, Amaya replaced her as the new leader
And they all feel very confused since Amaya is a follower and they feel like she is replacing Bella
It is not as good as the original drama but it would still work imo

Some fans are still waiting for a "Next Gen" of Ever After High, and no update.
If there's a "High school" series that needs a reboot, it's Equestria Girls.
I mean, yeah FiM is done and over with, but to be fair, EQ never had a proper conclusion after the last episode, so we never did find out what the outcome or conclusion of the series would've been.
If there was a reboot of EQ, I think they should make the school more like a "Magical High School", where the humanized Ponies learned to harness their abilities and powers depending on what species of Ponies they are: Unicorn, Pegasi, Earth, Crystal, Breezie, Kirin, Hippogriff, etc.
But it won't be just a school for humanized Ponies, it's also a school for humanized creatures from the FiM series: Griffins, Yaks, Changelings, etc.
But yeah, I can completely see Equestria Girls being rebooted to have a fantasy themed school, fitting of FiM.
Personally I don’t want a reboot of EAH, unless it’s gonna be more like the books. But I highly doubt they’ll do it with descendants still around, maybe I’ll do both EG and EAH for a series 🤔

If you want to give a RH doll a pet. Littlest Pet Shop is a good choice. The scale is right they are cute and have big eyes like RH dolls.
Its definitely a cute redesign but please actually research what an aesthetic is actually called before just calling it y2k, and while i do think as a brand having rainbow on every outfit it also made it seem like every student only buys their clothes from the schools merch store. With that all said I'm looking forward to seeing where you take your project

Ikr. 😭 but dw, my sona is getting a redesign with new sprites, but this video was actually homework for college so I didn’t have time to whip them up and had to use my old ones. Plus I can guarantee my usual designs for ocs n such don’t look like this, when I drew it I had the mindset that expressing myself was more important which having to draw it so often proved otherwise 😭😭 LESSON LEARNED
@@iianarchiiii your design actually has many great qualities to it (particularly color palette) but it's overcrowded to the point that it's incoherent to look at because everything distracts from everything else (like my eyes look anywhere except at the face, which ought to actually be where the eye is drawn to the most so the viewer makes a connection with your sona and their expressions/personality).
it's definitely fixable/adjustable though. you don't have to (and shouldn't, if it's important to you) get rid of the decora vibes, but you could look into streamlining some of the elements. it will make your sona MORE memorable, not less, not to mention it will be easier for people to make fanart for you!

The vid was just a design analysis and exercise for fun my guy, no need to throw a tantrum about it
