- I can't tell you how many comments and requests I got for finding this one, TONS OF REQUESTS!! 😂 So I present to you the original version of Magnifico and Amaya: The villainous couple version!
In this version of the movie as stated, both Magnifico AND Amaya were intended to be evil, and we're going to be the first ever Disney Villain Power Couple, with even a rumor of a villain duet song rather than "This Is The Thanks I Get?!" Here, Magnifico has been trying for years to gain infinite power, by eating the wishes of his citizens, but they only serve as small doses. Amaya created magic potions (which later ended up being the King's job in the final) that would aid her husband in keeping magic. They were also meant to be the Disney version of Tony and Carmela from "The Sopranos"
Another plotline seen here is that Magnifico originally wanted to pull a Star from the sky in order to gain cosmic power over his kingdom and with the aid of Amaya's potion and spells, he almost succeeds, but he still not powerful enough. Amaya then explains that he could still get power from the "traitors" from a hidden village that escaped Magnifico's rule. Little do they know that Asha already has some Star power of her own that will bring them down.
This idea was changed because not only did higher ups believe that Amaya was more serviceable as a good woman and for the story, but they couldn't seem to figure out a reason why Magnifico would want power so badly. Plus, they wanted to get rid of the hidden village in favor of everyone loving Magnifico, loving Rosas and being happy and then later finding out his "true colors" rather than people catching on that he's evil. Seriously, why were they obsessed with Magnifico!?
Unfortunately for the ones who changed the idea, they were WAY OFF. I don't normally say this, but Amaya worked WAY BETTER as a villain than a good guy, as most viewers agreed that this felt more natural and creative than the final result. The idea was so ingrained into the character that when it was removed, most viewers felt like she was either lacking in something, or she was going to be a twist villain. Plus, she's kind of a badass in here, ngl.
This personally feels way more like a classic Disney movie done anew and homaging the Iconic Disney Villains, which both the King and Queen would've fit in perfectly. They would've been like the new favorite villains of the year for people to use in videos! 🤣

Someone please explain to me how Disney fell so far flat on its face that it scrapped such a goldmine idea that had so much passion that you could hear it in the voice actors.
They literally got the plot concept right on the first try and then they decided to scrap that first try for what????
Disney could have had WISH as a monumental masterpiece in its history with aspects like:
1. It's first villain power couple.
2. A clash of a heroic trio of Asha, Starboy and Valentino versus a villain trio of Amaya, Magnifico and their cat (whose name unfortunately escapes at the moment)
3. A star boy who would have been the Jack Frost of Disney, considering he looks a lot like Rise of The Guardians' Jack Frost but mixed the Sandman's magic.
............and other things.
We could have had the Gomez and Morticia Addams of Disney villains.
Yet somehow Disney managed to shoot itself in both the foot and the face and blew it just like that?!?!?
I agree with you 100%. Wish was on its way to being Disney's "Puss in Boots The Last Wish". One of Disney's best films, or hell, even one of Disney's best films of all time. They hit the jackpot from the start and THREW IT AWAY. They threw away GOLD.
This movie deserves justice, honestly.
I’m not sure if it would’ve been the best of all time knowing Princess and the frog and Bells of Norte Dane exist, but for the 2010’s and on it would’ve probably been the best for its generation, especially since so many newer Disney and Pixar movies suck ass.
They cannot show happy couples at the forefront it makes women look weak and women can no longer be pure evil.

1. A woman is still strong even when they have a love interest as a friend or support but it depends on if the story's idea and/or the character's traits requires a love interest at all, and if anything, believing that a woman is weak because she has a companion she trusts and can count on when needed is like saying that a woman having a sense of love, compassion and relying trust in help and support from others makes her weak which it doesn't.
2. Women can be just as much evil villains as men as being evil depends on people's own choices and circumstances in which there are no exceptions.
I don't mean this in a bad way but in a realistic way that both men and women can have choices and circumstances that are evil, so to say that women can't be evil is unrealistic and biased.
Yes, women don't have to be purely evil but they're human too with fair shares of perfections and flaws, and some humans be it man or women can be evil be it by choice or circumstances, and that's just the truth.
These terms they used as their excuses among others are unrealistic, biased and sound more like personal projections of issues than constructive storytelling suggestions.

It would have been a kind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish situation. With Magnifico as the obvious over the top bad guy in the vein of previous Disney baddies and Amaya being the cunning wist villain. THEY COULD HAVE HAD THEIR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO!!!!!😭
@@pintsizedpicasso3402 the audience would know Amaya is a bad guy, but she hides it well from her subjects. Especially Asha who trusts her a lot.
Magnifico would have some temper problems that people just assume is from stress from being the king since they don't know the full context, unlike Asha who sees him in secret letting the facade drop.
All I can see is an evil Morticia and Gomez... I LOVE IT!!

I actually like Magnifico’s personality and motivations more and they make far more sense, while being more compelling. He feels an emptiness inside, like he’s hollow, and he wants to fill that with power. And so he wants the power of the Wishing Star to end his hunger once and for all. That’s actually more interesting than his motivation of “being the center of attention, granting wishes that only benefit him” thing and is more classically Disney.

This reminds me of the story of a boy who wanted to eat the stars and I'm pretty much certain that is where magnifico has been inspired by.

Agghh, we were robbed!!! This movie was shaping up to be a lot more fun and entertaining than what we got!! Amaya actually feels like a real character here and less like a plot device since all she did was basically serve as the kingdom's designated driver once Magnifico was put out of commission.
They actually have chemistry as a couple, like an evil Beauty and the Beast. I love how Amaya is like a therapist for when Magnifico gets aggressive and unhinged but calms him down by pointing his anger towards evil plans of her own. Not to mention having a cat like one of the Siamese twins from Lady and the Tramp as their pet.
It really seems like this movie was all set to being a new Disney classic and a worthy celebration of their centennial but then corporate meddling sabotaged it in every way imaginable. This movie truly is fascinating for what could have been.
Why the hell did corporate meddlers have to meddle in things that don't concern them?

TRUTH!!! They worked way better here! I even love the evil cat, they're all had so much personality!
They just have such a fun and sexy dynamic. It's something we've never seen before in a Disney film and would have been perfect in the final draft. It sucks that the writers actually had interesting new ideas but they were all replaced with boring unambitious ones.

Now this is a history making villain couple right here!😎 These are the types of villains you love to hate because here Amaya & Magnifico are dynamic/interesting/entertaining without even trying. Why would anyone change this? This could have been a guaranteed success worldwide but now it's just a loss for the writers and a missed opportunity...😭😭😭
Yeah. Similar to how the film kingdom of the sun dramatically changed into emperor new groove, wish suffered a big shift in its plot. The change in direction by emperors new groove was interesting and did give us a genuinely fun and solid movie, the changes made to wish here I can genuinely say made the film worse. Like magifico and Amaya here are a genuinely fun, threatening and evil duo here. Here it’s utterly apparent that these 2 are evil… but that fun and enjoyable evil where you want to see them more. I don’t know honestly why this was changed. You had a villainous power couple and you tossed it away.

Okay, I officially want Disney to release the directors cut of this whole movie now. I'm talking fully animated with the original voice actors rerecording their lines and casting either Tom Holland or Timothee Chalamat as Starboy. If DC fans could make the Snyder cut happen, we can make this happen, too. Because Disney had a literal MASTERPIECE on their hands, and they traded it in for something mediocre.

This is what a true disney villain is supposed to be like. Magnifico in the movie was narcistic and selfish but not entirely villainous until he was accused of being bad guy and he lost it. At first, he actually seemed quite laidback with Asha and actually considered Asha's request (whom he just met), giving then quite valid reason for his 'no' considering his background. I didn't like how Asha in the beginning promotes Rosas as the happiest place on Earth and convinces people to move there but immediately when she is told no, she makes total 180.

I've read some re-written stories by fans, one that I like is Asha being the King and Queen's apprentice, who adopted her when they found out she also had magic like Magnifico, and were planning to use her powers when the time comes. As they raised her like their daughter, she trust them a lot and would do anything for the well being of her kingdom, but she become conflicted and confused when she find out on accident they eat/absorb the wishes. But instead of doing an 180, she goes on to call the Star/Starboy in the hopes that he could help them find a peaceful solution, and THEN later she find out her adopted parents real plan and realize how truly evil they are, she goes against them.

@Rankinen I completely agree, they pushed the idea of Magnifico being seen as good so much that when the time came for him to be a real villain, it feels unearned and he seemed more annoyed than evil until then.
Lots of fans don't even see him as the villain in the final version, it backfired so badly...
@@RascalEntertainments I don't understand why trying to make Magnifico to be a twist villain was so important as they openly marketed him as a new 'traditional' villain. Traditional disney villains are not twist villains, Malificent and Ursula are clearly villains from the moment they step on the screen. And King and Queen couple would've been wonderful addition to villain gallery. They would've also been fine contrast to the main couple, Asha and Starboy. So much lost potential...

And « Mi rey » means « My king » in Spanish which I wished there was an official Disney Spanish Princess.

The chemistry between the VAs are electric. The acting, the writing, the animation, all of it is immaculate!
Yeah, these guys are just scratch voices for the celebrities, but damn. Between these two and Asha and Starboy's VAs, it feels like they WERE the stars of the movie! They took this really seriously!
The older, villainous couple who’ve been married for years vs. the younger, heroic couple who just got together.
The men are more childish and reckless, whereas their partner is logical to a fault and a perfectionist. Imagine the Queen meets with Asha and vents to her about the King, and vice versa with Starboy and the King. The royal couple plant seeds of doubt in our protagonists. The royals later reveal that it’s a trick; they know how young love works, so the antagonists manipulate the protagonists in order to achieve their goal. Plus it’s a play on the twist villain trope.
It’s ridiculous how much obvious wasted potential there is. I find out more about this film and I get even angrier.
You're absolutely right! The original idea was to have Asha, Star and Valentino be the heroic trio vs Magnifico, Amaya and Charo as the villain trio! And the villains and heroes were perfect parallels to each other!

Originally, from everything I've heard + the demo's original lyrics *only* replacing the words 'Love you' with 'Promise', the song 'At All Costs' was intended to be a love ballad between Asha & Starboy (Almost like the 2020s' equivalent of 'I See The Light' from Tangled), which better explains some of the odd lyrics - For example, the 'As one does' sounds redundant in the end product, but since Starboy wouldn't have been a human, it works better since the 'As *one* does' refers to how *humans* show love.

You have Magnifico who stands out to Asha as the obvious bad guy, meanwhile Amaya maintains that guise of being friendly and caring towards Asha until the backstab scene where she reveals to Asha she has always been by her husbands side and always will be.

@ChasoGod also would’ve been a good way to show how evil can sometimes hide in plain sight/put up a friendly facade. Evil isn’t always obvious, it can be manipulative, hide and pass itself off as a normal member of society (ok I watch too much true crime) Would’ve been interesting to see Disney break barriers with something like that

Because they wanted to do the bare minimum and got the bare minimum attention back.
The concept is so good that it has surpassed the popularity of the final film, most of the fan art and works are for the CONCEPT ART. 😂

The deleted scenes are so much better than the actual movie. It also shows WHY Wish was a failure and didn’t make a profit. The deleted look like a totally different movie. That’s a lot of work and man hours thrown away. Is Disney not story boarding their movies anymore? Deleted scenes are usually just little twists of the original storyline not completely different concepts.
You make a good point. Recently someone who worked on the movie, Dinosaur stated that the film had a different ending and lead up, but instead of releasing it, Disney let them completely finish the film, then told them to make another movie from scratch in just a couple months.
Frozen 2 had this problem too. Its kind of disturbing to hear that Disney's bad movies were originally great films, but then were forced to make changes that pleased them. They don't even care about the art now.

I point out to you Disney gentlemen that here too there is the opposition of character between the king and the queen and here too he aims for the most extreme option, while she tries to persuade him... only that here, unlike the film, it ACTUALLY works, you monkeys before a typewriter! Not to mention the fact that here Manifico already knows that wishes give him power, but he chooses to use them only in extreme cases. And consuming them seems like it would do a lot of harm to the owners as Amaya says, not like in that garbage movie where it seems like they have a pebble in their shoe. And then and then and then we could go on for hours pointing out all the things that work here and don't in the film, like Magnifico's transformation at the end of the movie into a gigantic monster (that would've been a nice callback) as he eats the wishes. Suffice it to say, they missed every single opportunity to make this movie not even memorable, but at least a decent celebration of 100 years that ended pretty badly to be gentle

I really do find it funny that in the description it states that Disney changed it because they didn't know why magnifico wanted the power. but in the scene it shows that it's a hungry ache that he has. which is perfectly serviceable. there are people out there that have an emptiness that they constantly try and fill with material gain and Power.

Now I really wish (again, no pun intended) we got the original version instead. I actually really like Magnifico and Amayas dynamic here. Not only do they actually genuinely love one another, despite both being clearly very evil, but also it sort of implies Amaya wears the pants in the relationship, with her calming down Magnifico and being the one to help him come up with the new plan and finding the traitors and all.
I actually really like that, and would've been an interesting twist. Sadly, we never got that. Oh well.
I completely agree! This dynamic works much better and feels more right than only Magnifico being the antagonist.
They made Amaya good to benefit the story, but they really just made her character nothing until near the end of the movie.

I would give Disney a chance if they took the movie and remade it with some elements of the final product like the soundtrack, animation and songs (even rewriting some) and other elements from the deleted scenes, because so far this is the best scene I've seen and also Magnifico and Amaya would have been a beautiful couple of calculating and power-hungry villains, and I would have kept the cat too.

I would have kept the cat because it also pays homage to the evil cats of old Disney films like Lucifer from Cinderella and the devious Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp .

I love this SO MUCH, and I haven't even watched the movie. A villain with a second in command restraining his reckless impulses and thus sharpening his plans, but framed through a workaholic husband with a supportive wife.

One thing that was the most interesting thing about this one is the fact that king magnifico consumes wishes to gain more power. something that would be carried on to the official movie.
But either way… they fumbled it hard.
It would've been reeeally nice seeing the king and queen working together as equals. In the movie, Amaya was practically a maid or servent (which might've been intentional? Idk), she was just kinda there, but here it looks like she handles more of the Alchemy part of wish granting while Magnifico was the sorceress with the magic. I also assume that Magnifico was the one who handled and pandered to the Rosas while Amaya worked on more underground stuff like catching traitors or spying on citizens she deems suspicious.
Basically Magnifico had the charms and emotional manipulation, and Amaya was more sly and strategic. They would've made a great villain duo 😞
Actually you're right on your theory! In another scene featuring Asha and Starboy, the Queen takes the route Flazino was taking to give food to the hidden village, and attempts to trap the duo before they reach Rosas.

I love how the power Dynamic is little unbalanced in this couple. He doesn't say "power will be ours" he says "power will be his", indicating that he's doing this for entirely selfish reasons. She's kind of just a minion to him with her own equally evil desires, no doubt, but she'll never be her own person-- her whole life is just being subservient to him. And although she might enjoy it, she's not her own which is kind of evil within itself even if they seem to "love" each other. I love the subtlety in the misogynistic nature this relationship. It's fun yet it's not something people would aspire to be like. This would have been brilliant if Disney decided to go along with this. Or even better have Asha and the Starboy's love story be a direct contrast to Amaya and Magnifico's relationship, showing the difference between real love and twisted/toxic love.

Yesss! You get it! Aasha and Starboy could represent an equal healthy relationship! Aasha is passionate and idealistic, and Starboy is carefree as well as daring. They are both equals and their own person! The final movie had the misogynistic undertones, but it was done in a very boring way, with Amaya being treated more like a servant than the queen!(Whoops! Someone needed to say it!) Which was very odd.
What do they mean they don't know "why Magnifico would want power that badly"?! Have they ever SEEN a villain? lol. And their dynamic here!? Killer! Their dialogue? Smooth as sin. The wretched little Sphinx cat? Perfect. My heart HURTS.

This movie does more damage than hail. Every time I think I've freed myself from waiting a year for a crazy disappointment and I think I can move on with animation, these videos pop up that demonstrate a genuine effort on the part of the production in ruining this film... and I I'm going to get really pissed off again 💔
