Wish's Original Movie Scene: Valentino Is A Star (Read Description)

- This is the last known scene from the original version of Wish available. I was surprised when I got requests to put this one up, since IGN already has it. But since there were questions about how Valentino's role was changed, well here you go.
This scene is taking place near the end of the movie, where Magnifico has threatened to eat the wishes of her family and the Hamlet unless she gives him Star. He reveals his true colors in front of the citizens as he grew tired of pretending to be kind just to get their wishes.
Asha actually comes up with a plan (as she narrates part of it here) to distract Magnifico. Her plan involves convincing the crowd that Valentino is a Star while the real Star(boy) is in the castle with Dahlia and Gabo, combining Star with different magical ingredients that could restore the wishes to the people.
Star gives Valentino some magic that ables him speech and he calls on the animals of the kingdom to help, Lion King style. Magnifico already knows this is a farce (as it was always part of the plan) and decides to stop the game. He starts rapidly eating people's wishes at once, and it causes people to actually start dying right on the spot. He then transforms into a giant monster (shouting out to Jafar at the end of Aladdin) and turns to see the Star is nearby. As you can see the original version was pretty much done, but the directors wanted more changes so they made the final version instead.
For those who are wondering, Valentino didn't speak until the end of the film, where the idea was to build up his turn to speak after many other animals throughout the movie were given the magic to talk by Star. He also was going to be voiced a small kid instead of Alan Tudyk. Most viewers preferred this outcome since the goat was actually adding something to the story and paying off a joke while getting a good a laugh! Also, there was actually a plan to have a final cosmic showdown between Magnifico and Star. Star would fight with positive magic, while Magnifico fought with evil magic. THAT WOULD'VE BEEN AWESOME!
The scene was changed because the directors thought Magnifico wasn't threatening enough (yes, that's seriously the reason) and he wouldn't be dumb enough to fall for a trick like this (even though he still didn't here, Asha's plan was to convince the CROWD and buy Star time). They also stated the plan was too silly for Asha to come up with and preferred if Valentino talked throughout the whole film. Believing that he would be funnier to kids and sell better.
Did....did these people actually watch the scenes or do they just not like fun???
Fans think Mags turning into a giant monster worked better not only as an Aladdin shout-out, but also shows just how ruthless and a true villain he was. Also, Valentino being silent until the end was WAY better received, as they find the baby voice cute instead of Alan Tudyk.

Wow, Valentino actually had a purpose in this version! Often the main job of animal friend is to give the main character someone to talk with when other characters are not around versus them having a monologue to an empty room. However in Wish there was Star who took that role leaving Valentino without a purpose.
And King Magnifico was actually threatening and truly evil here. In the movie, when people lost their wishes it seemed like they ate something bad, here they fall down like shell of their former shells, the stakes feel so much higher! The Wish is ultimate "what we could've had but never came to be".
Actually Valentino did help. He talked to the horses outside Asha’s house and they escaped and he also found the secret entrance to Bazeema’s hideout
I think the losing wishes was changed because the writers thought it was better for Rosas' people to have the strength to stand up to Magnfico even if he took their wishes.
This version just feels like "now only the chosen one (protag) can stop this disaster!"
The lady who was the director literally fired anyone and everyone who disagreed w her, which is why the movie ended up so bad
Source? 🧐
Source? I wanna read the drama too
It was on an Podcast- I’ll try to re-dig it up and post the link or search info, bc often when you post a link RUclips automatically deletes the post
For the same reason, that's why brave also took a turn. Except it was a sexist guy
@@boop3nowurded538oh, really? i ended up enjoying the movie imo, but the director seems sucky.
SEE THIS!? THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FILM! VALENTINO WOULD HAVE BEEN ESSENTIAL AND MAGNIFICO WOULD BE TERRIFYING!
Totally! Still can't believe they got it all right the first time and then CHANGED IT ALL.
@@RascalEntertainments I disagree, I've been watching a lot of these deleted scenes and I can totally see why they were deleted, they look exciting in pieces but there's no rhyme or reason to them, the story was bad, the villains were even more clichéd, the final version was way better and I'm so glad star boy in particular didn't make the cut, he was wholly unnecessary in the plot.
WE WERE ROBBED
THIS FEELS MORE LIKE A DISNEY MOVIE THAN THE ONE WE GOT.
fr
Classic Disney
WE WERE SO CLOSE TO BRINGING BACK CLASSIC DISNEY
See this? This is the villain they promised us.
Exactly
That horrified little "AUGHH THE GOAT TALKS!" was funnier than the entire movie 😂
Did you hear the little “it speaketh 😮” afterwards 🤭
Those little details made it all the better! 😂
0:52 I like how that little glance implies the people immediately recognized Asha’s plan and are playing along to help her.
“You Think I’M AN IDIOT?!?! I HAVE THE POWER… I HAVE Your WISHES…. I WILL HAVE THE STAARR!!!!!!…. So WHERE IS IT?…..”
THAT Should’ve Been King Magnifico’s FINAL BOSS FORM!
HELL YEAH!
Yeah, this movie suffered too much from creative differences. Such a lousy movie.
Execs vs The devs
Pretty much
This would’ve made Magnifico like an Avenger Level threat!
And I like Alan Tudyk as much as the next guy, but I think Valentino would’ve been more well received by the audience if he was played by a child actor.
Right!? I can imagine all of us using this scene for an epic battle scene in our spoofs, it would've been awesome!
Also, I agree. He could still voice some animals since he's known for and still be in the movie. I just like the idea of Valentino being voiced by a real kid instead. He's three weeks old, after all.
"Valentino calls to the animals:"
"wrEEEEE E E E E"
I LOVED IT!!! 😂😂😂
Kind of reminds me of Aladdin's ending, You know with Jafar turning into a genie
Yeah, that was the intention
Would’ve been another awesome reference
We were so robbed.
Definitely
Not only does it give a reason for Valentino talking, but, common, a final transformation as a last-ditch effort from the villain? Classic Disney.
See, that was the original point of the movie to reference all disney movies from the last 100 years. The best way would have been to pay to pay homage to them in ways like this.
YES! THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED!!
That & Alan Tuduk (or however you spell his last name), the guy who voiced gd King Candy from Wreck It Ralph & such else, wouldn't have been wasted on Illumination-level bs! 💀💀
If I remember correctly, the explanation the filmmakers gave for removing this scene was that they didn't think Magnifico would fall for a ruse so blatantly silly...but here it's made pretty clear that Magnifico knows that Valentino isn't the star, so what gives?
I noticed that as well! The directorsl now look dumb, not the characters.
They made up lazy excuses to change it. I think they just DIDN'T WANT IT TO BE FUN.
My mind goes crazy during reading the original idea in the description 🤯
Never ever I ever feel so much passion about something that never is, yet always was.
These guys had so much passion and Disney threw it all away.
OH MY GAWD MAGNIFICO IS ON A MONSTER LEVEL OF EVIL!!! 😱😱😱
Right!?
ARE YOU SERIOUS, FILM? WHO DECIDED WHAT SHOULD BE KEPT IN THIS?????
Jennifer Lee and a few others in charge of story.
0:45 “the goat talks!” Is hilarious, also Valentino’s little baby voice is so cute. Can’t believe they got rid of everything good about the movie
I would've LOVED that so much!
1:30 MARAHUTE IS THAT YOU?!?!🦅🤣
That would’ve been a great cameo tbh
😂😂😂😂
Magnifico's transformation kinda resembles Jafar's transformation. This could've been a great scene, especially for movie that stated to be Disney's anniversary movie...
This just popped up in my recommended, this would've been so much better than what we got
😭😭😭😭
We've been cheated!!!
HOLY SMOKES I GOT CHILLS
Bro I wish someone at Disney would take up the original concept and make it into an actual promising film. With a DIFFERENT director this time.
This is terrifying and I fucking love it. I’m so sad it’s just a concept. I want to go to the universe where they used this concept. Wish would have easily could have been one of my favorites.
Me too 😭😭
The only problem I have with scene is that, well for one, starboy doesn't look like how he does in the concept art, and secondly, is that Amaya is just kindof/sort of there, and remember, this was back when Amaya was going to be a villain as well. So unless they changed that aspect of her character before this ending bit was storyboarded, I don't really like how she's doing nothing other then shocked then her husband actually went this far, which, she shouldn't really be shocked by anyways, since she was the one helping him this whole time.
Kind of wish (no pun intended) that she did more in this climax beyond just... being there. But oh well, it's still an awesome scene, and I still wish (again, no pun intended). This version of the film was made.
There’s still more of the scene, so I like to think Asha would’ve run up to Amaya and begged her to help them stop her husband…only for Amaya to smirk and keep the crowd/animals contained to help her husband. Or go up there to help him fight.
And Starboy can shapeshift, so the emoji likely isn’t his permanent form.
Actually Amaya is also a villain, I saw other parts of the animatics, she's just not in this scene. Also, starboy is a shapeshifter, he turns into a boy and a star, you can only see his star for right now in this animatic, but he can also turn into a boy.
I don't think this was made when Amaya was supposed to be a villain or when they were going for a Star Boy. This might have been a little later in the development, after they scrapped those ideas.
Starboy can transform i think@@yay29823
It looks like this is well after they scrapped the Villain Power Couple and the Starboy ideas
THIS. iS. WHAT. WE. WANT...nothing less😍😍😍
YES!! 😭😭
Oh Disney I hate you so much for doing us dirty
I feel your pain
We were robbed seeing Magnifico turn into a magic one winged angel kaiju
THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST DISNEY OF THE 20TH CENTURY! We were so robbed-
DAMN
Oh my goodness this is brilliant
Whoa
Oh my gosh magnifico is on a monster level of evil!!!! 😨😨😨😱😱😱😱
Right!?
@@RascalEntertainments yeah agreed!!
Hmmm, as I'm reading the description more and more, it seems like the directors are the main reason for the final mess...
Pretty much
lol I *Wish* this movie was this!
Me too! 😭
We really lost this one didnt we
Yeah...
Magnifico’s transformation reminds me of Jaffar turning into a genie
Me too! Just like a classic Disney final battle.
Honestly, this would have been SO much cooler
Definitely
That sounded so pure.
I loved it too! 😂
This animatic looks awesome! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE MOVIE! But the execution was just not it though, especially with the decision of not wanting this concept of Valentino talking at the end, making a revolutionary animal force to attack Magnifico, they discarded it.
That would've tied into the theme of revolution that it was supposed to have!
hehe we were so robbed.
This looks better than the final result❤
RIGHT!?
dude the king gives me the creeps
He was an ACTUAL, EVIL VILLAIN! 😭
Right! Him and Amaya would've been awsome!
How does one eat a wish?!!
I dunno, but you clean up after with a wishcloth.
I Blam jennifer lee make wish so generic and also for make a weird hybrid style instead of 2d.
Jennifer lee said that 2d is limited. What an epic failure.
This movie had a potentiel to bring back the 1990s rennaissance formula with 2d, this movie could also save disney and being a hit with the original concept.
Since, I heard that disney will make a 3d sequels, I decided to boycott disney. Disney lied about the return of 2d. I'm really disappointed about this studios.😠
I'm with you there...
This feels like a Disney movie…. The actual movie’s climax felt cheap
YES
Wow
Awesome
Right!?
Woohoo!
They tried to release some deleted scenes to salvage the reputation from the stupid movie.
😂😂😂😂
This is intimidation.
Right!?
My Hazbin Hotel brainrot had me very confused and intrigued for a moment there 😂
I know how you feel...😅
You did the dubbing?
I think its just filler voice lines as a placeholder to be redubbed by the voice cast later which is common for studios to do.
Who is voicing starboy?
Sorry, I still don't know.
Magnifico the Magnificent Titan.
New Titan variant confirmed.
If you get what I mean.
I WOULD'VE LOVED THAT!!
