I can see so many AMVs being made of the Starboy set to (fittingly enough) Starboy by The Weeknd if the original ideas for Wish hadn't been canned. Between it and having an evil power couple who are bad to the bone while still genuinely loving one another, I legitimately want to know who decided to can these ideas in favour of the mess we got.
Maybe the Starboy could have been a Little Prince type character, and shown Asha that wishes come true every day, in the smallest acts of kindness and that wishes don't need to be large grandiose things in order to be meaningful or 'worthy' of coming true, and that all important things, wishes included, should be viewed with the heart. And Asha could show him the beauty of being ambitious and wanting to change things, maybe tying that in with her magic sorcery stuff like "If I can make magic, then I can change things, make them better, shape the world and let it thrive!" And they could balance each other out. And there could be a moment in the final face-off between Asha and Magnifico where he could be like "If you stay with me, we can shape the kingdom, even the world!" And Asha and the Starboy could realize that all wishes are worthy, big ones, small ones, ambitious or not, and that one person shouldn't be in charge of saying whether or not your dreams are worthy of coming true.
Awwww that’s a good point! I remember seeing this one animatic of “at all costs” where the star boy and Asha utilize sign language with each other, though I don’t think coley included it but it’s one of my favorites.
"We didn't make the star a boy cause he would look to similar to the genie" Ah yes. Because when I see Aladdin's genie, I absolutely think of little twink love interest boy
Their logic is so stupid because it would have worked as a nice subtle reference, unlike the on-the-nose references the movie actually has. Disney, hello? Star Boy could’ve been a nice mix of Genie and Peter Pan.
Just goes t show HOW out of touch the Disney decision makers are. Fans would go literally insane over a good evil villain couple. Like, just picture them dancing around like evil Morticia and Gomez as they just _revel_ in playing with the magic they get from using the peoples wishes during an epic villain song??
It’s in critically acclaimed adult “Disney” content like Daredevil and people loved it. It’s totally possible to tone that dynamic down for child audience
I said this in another reply section but imagine something even more emotional, Starboy gets killed by King Magnifico and says his last final words to Asha…angsty I know lol.@@LeoDBW
A Jack Frost looking, shapeshifting, mute prettyboy who falls in love with a black girl would’ve taken Tumblr by storm, especially if the song At All Costs was really supposed to be their love theme.
at all costs has a demo version where it's "Love you as one does" instead of "promise as one does", we were so robbed. The fanmade animatics are amazing, so very amazing
1) They laid off half of the animation staff to save money so the corpos took over the rest of the film. 2) Two heterosexual couples in a Disney princess movie is not ESG friendly. If they want those government and Black Rock dollars they need to remove all romance unless it's one between two characters of approved identity groups. 3) Plushie toys are easier to make than prince dolls.
@@alecperdeau650I don’t understand point #2. Straight romance is offensive now? Should straight women use the back door since they are apparently so disgusting?
You know that scene in Tangled where they say “You were my new dream” “And you were mine”? We could’ve had that with wishes We could’ve had Asha at the end of the movie ask Starboy if he’s discovered what his wish is and he says “my wish is be with you” AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
WE WERE ROBBED Disney has messed up too much, their reputation is "almost" destroyed. Unless they make a revolutionary movie by this year? Inside Out 2 better be one of the greatest movies ever to top out what Wish could have been to a fandom
They have set themselves up for failure. Wish was a failure, Inside Out was a very good movie but the trailer for the sequel had mixed reactions, and people are kinda shitting on the world building of Inside Out 2. Unless they do a REALLY REALLY good job and wow us with it, or shit out a masterpiece out of nowhere, Disney is gonna fall off.@@RandomCatFromFrance
the whole argument is actually kinda dumb, when you consider that the whole point of this 100 anniversary movie was for Disney to call back to it's own history, and therefore Starboy being similar to the Genie would 100% MAKE SENSE AND FIT IN. It's like the Genie, AND Tinkerbell AND voiceless Ariel from the second half of Little Mermaid rolled up into one Jack Frost-shaped shell.
Exactly who carries if he's a little similar to the genie Everyone loved the genie Plus a mute genie would have still been different enough to be their own character
Fr, they grabbed every dull archetype and stereotypical arc/development evern in their production, but somehow left out only the ones we would have liked
yeah people would have defended hard on that cause it makes sense. this movie is supposedly for disney's anniversary. why shouldn't it be similar to one of most iconic characters of disney?@@whatalsaid
The thing I actually like about this backlash... Is how constructive it is. It wasn't people being negative just because, they SHOWED what they would've preferred. It awakened everyone's inner creativity. It's kinda beautiful.
@@flamesoul3778depending on which decisions they decide to take after this they either finally learn from mistakes and enter a new renaissance era or similar or they fumble even more than this, but not even I know how would you fall even more than this
The deleted concept art has more fans than the actual final version of the movie. Seriously, I've seen more artists and writers creating their own version of Wish based on the deleted concept art with Starboy + Asha than artists and writers dedicating their craft to the final movie. From what I've heard, most of them hate the movie and I couldn't agree more XD
Sorry this is off topic, it seems lthat i've see you in the other videos, i mean i rarely find you but when i look at the pfp it feels like I've seen it
genuinely hoping that this is the universe with the timeline that all these writers & artists team up to make their own indie version of it in the 2D animation style we deserve even though I know I’m being delulu & that will never happen. >>>
@@saturnthemirrorball Good news! Alicia and the Kingdom of Starlight! (Yt seems to have deleted a link from the previous comment, so just look it up right on this website)
I either see that, or a focus on Magnifico and Amaya. I mean, orphan who became a sorcerer and king beause of his tragic backstory, and is so devoted to his wife? People ate that up.
@@saturnthemirrorball There's actually a project going on on youtube called Alicia and the Kingdom of Starlight, which is actually remaking the movie under a new name! The channel running it is Pinkiemachine Studios
He looked and sounded like the type of character I would've LOVED too 🥲 (granted, I'm just a sucker for wholesome male twink characters in general, bonus if they're blonde)
wasted potential is the most frustrating and irritating aspect of any creative field and seeing Disney fumble the bag time and time and time again is so disheartening because we KNOW the team behind these films are SO creative and talented, they just never get the chance to truly shine cause of Disney's fear of making mistakes which then becomes a self fulfilling prophecy
The higher ups need to stop interfering. We don’t care about the marketable plushies when WE COULD HAVE HAD BOTH STARBOY AND MARKETABLE CHIBI STAR. It honestly has to be marketing and executives and people in power. The creatives would never have this kind of fuck up if they let them do their job.
There's actually a deleted scene where evil Amaya chases Star and Asha, back when the star was a shapeshifter and presumably still a starboy (going off some context clues) and it's a fascinating dynamic to watch. Starboy is bubbly and energetic, while Asha is more serious and mature, trying to rein him in, and they bounce off one another very organically. And... it was cut...
I WANTED STARBOY SO BAD!!! A CUTE SPARKLY MUTE TWINK WITH SHAPESHIFTING ABILITIES???? He'd be so fun and expressive with body language like cmonnnn OTL Imagine him getting too flustered he just POOFS into his cute star form to hide his embarrassment????!!!
I can see the climax of the film, villain couple versus hero couple, a dance fight of magic that turns into an actual battle... we could've had a love interest that was LITERALLY SENT FROM HEAVEN. A villain COUPLE. What in the actual fuck. A dance/fight duet. Disney's best composers absolutely going above and beyond. I will forever be salty.
Dude an AshaxStarboy animatic with the ballroom song from Brandy's Cinderella. "I have found her she's an angel with the dust of the stars in her eyes" It's literal them gender swapped omg
LITERALLY, a final battle taking place during a song of all things! With one verse going to Asha and Starboy, with lyrics of how the universe and stars brought them together, THEN SWITCH to Magnifico and Whatshername having THE SAME lyrics but with a darker twist! Showing they love each other, but for different reasons than Asha and Starboy! IT WOULD'VE BEEN SO POETIC
And also a romance where the characters are older than 22 is nice, even if they're villains. I know Flynn Rider is like 30, but Rapunzel is 18 so it doesn't count. Give us a romance with hot people over 30. Or over 40, considering that Chris and Angelique are both over 40.
Little fun fact. In the Guardian books, Jack Frost was also called Nightlight and was a star boy that protected the man in the moon when he was a child. He later changed into Jack Frost.
They wanted a plushie? have scenes in which the shape-shifter starboy becomes his marketable plushie self by: being sad, sneezing, being spooked and bumping in to a door. There, make money, I want 20% or the profit, 10 plushies and a bodypillow.
@@HeyItsJayIRLthat’s really what happens when you don’t care about anything on the creative project other than the money you can get from the characters
@@HeyItsJayIRL Or even shape shift into severeal different cute animals, like a horse or a bird! And disney could make a toy for each form, and BOOM! everyone would be collecting them.
If Star was voiced by another voice actor than Pine, I can see them imagining the original Jack Frost (Aka Magnifico) going evil and try to destroy that "imposter" who is actually his and Sandman's lovechild.
Disney could’ve actually STILL had its marketable plushie with the canon Star, he could’ve been StarBoy’s little sidekick like Valentino is to Asha!!! This movie was SO FUCKING CLOSE to being excellent I just can’t take it HNNNNGHHHH
They even screwed up their own capitalism by not selling simultaneous human/mascot shapeshifter merch!! And you just know that they would have blankets and bags with Starboy in various different forms as the pattern. They even missed out on CAPITALISM.....
Exactly! The money to be made!!!! From a purely business persoective a pretty boy romance would’ve allowed them to just capture the pre teen to teenage girl market
The movie proved its point: "We don't have to depend on anyone to make our wishes true. We are the ones that make them happen" Disney will not give us our story worthy of it's 100; but we as artists and fans can make it happen by creating this AU what if's.
Hazbin Hotel is practically an official tv grade series, with recognizable voice actors! They're doing better than a corporation, so why not? More creators should come together and make something actually entertaining again.
People keep saying "not every Disney princess needs a love interest" but I have 2 little nieces and there has not been a new Disney princess with a love interest in their lifetimes.
Exactly. The last time a disney princess had a love interest was Tangled all the way back in 2010. A child could be born and make it all the way to high school without seeing a romance in Disney. At this point, a princess having a love interest again would be considered fresh.
Exactly, which is why I think it would’ve been important in this movie. I am despising how aromatic culture is becoming. Love in media seems to be… lessening
They literally could've had a "you were my new dream" moment in this. I can't believe they struck GOLD with the concepts and used NONE OF THEM. it makes me sad thinking about what could've been.
HEAR ME OUT, a shy, curious, pretty, mute boy who's fascinated by passionate Asha while she helps him learn compassion and what it is to be human and together they find out what wishes truly mean. *Inhale* AHHHHHHHHHHH. LIKE IMAGINE THEM BEING ALL CUTE AND PLAYFUL 😭😭😭😭
OMG I JUST THOUGHT THAT IF THEY WOULD BE THAT WAY IT WOULDN'T MATTER IF THEY'RE LOVERS OR FRIENDS CZ THEIR RELATIONSHIP TOGETHER, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT'S ROMANTIC OR PLATONIC, WOULD STILL BE SO WHOLESOME AND ENJOYABLE AND CUTE AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WE WERE ROBBEDDDD😭😭😭😭 But considering just how creative fandom can be when given absolutely nothing. I believe that in some deep recesses of archive of our own, there COULD be a starboy tag if ppl just started writing fanfics and created their own characterisations of his character that eventually everyone just kinda runs with based off of the most popular/oldest fanfic
We can even have that for the whole movie. Like a Goncherov situation, where even though the film technically doesn't exist, there are a series of events that happen in it that is so collectively agreed upon by the surrounding fandom that it becomes essentially "canon". Then with this "canon" in mind, the fanfics can spring off of that as they would with an actual movie.
When I tell you Tumblr would've WORSHIPPED this movie. Starboy, the wish being lantern equivalent so we could've gotten another tangled moment, a new love song as memorable as I See The Light and Whole New World, first villain couple, callbacks to Disney movies, the angst that could happen assuming Star can't stay, a new AU about a star and their human being born & spreading to multiple fandoms, Disney/Dreamworks resurgence. It would've been WILD 😭 (Edited for grammar)
i was HEAVY into disney/dreamworks fandom and was a big jack frost/rapunzel shipper so your comment and the video is making my chest hurt with middle school fangirl nostalgia
The Tumblr community wasn’t too happy with what we got so we took it into our own hands and started making rewrites based on the scrapped concepts. I haven’t started on my own rewrite yet but I have been reading all the other rewrites and looking at the fanart and they are so good, my favorite rewrite is by annymation
The angst is perfect as the ending for their love story. Don't get me wrong, getting your favorite couple separated is a bummer, but I think it's fitting with "star" shenanigans of this movie. Y'know, the term " *star-crossed* lover" 😂
Do you see people talking about Asha? No! You see people talking about Pomni from Digital Circus and how freaking depressing she is! Do you see people remembering Magnifico and his villain song?Of course not! You're too busy blasting Mount Rageous from Trolls 3 on repeat and of how iconic the siblings are! Wish is only alive cause the fandom decided to take matters into their own hands and fix the whole damn thing and we salute them for their work! The Star Boy being a mute yet bubbly curious little angel could've been EVERYTHING!!!
THIS. When wish first came out I didn't even know it was out, I just found out due to the many videos of Magnifico's horrible song. I relate so hard with only talking about Pomni and blasting Trolls 3 music. I can't believe Trolls managed to be more popular than the 100yrs anniversary movie Disney made lmaoo (and it's well deserved).
as someone who's a part of the maurauders fandom, don't give up girlies, in 2-3 years you'll forget the actual plot of the movie and the fics and animatics will have become canon enough for you all to be able to gaslight people who've never seen the movie into believing it's actually great.
2 quick things 1: apparently, there was also an idea for Asha to be the princess of Rosas. So there also would have been a great conflict between parent and child. Especially the Father daughter conflict, which we don't have many examples of in Disney. 2. That thing you said with jack frost singing, I kind you not I found an animatic of Jack and Elsa singing At All Costs, and it was great.
I feel like for their 100th anniversary, they SHOULD have assembled ALL of their great music makers. (Lin Manuel, The people who did the music for Frozen, Alan Menken, etc.) Like, if they were gonna "assemble the Avengers" THIS was the moment to do it. Instead they got...Julia Michaels?
What's even sadder is they barely told her what the movie was about and gave her 3 weeks to write musical numbers even though she was a pop song writer
Remember that a lot of these fan works are based on things that were CUT from the movie. I believe this fumble was caused by executive meddling and not a shortcoming of the writers and artists. Corporate Disney didn't want to push boundaries like they were once known to do and decided on something bland and passable. Something marketable. How they managed to even mess something that lazy up is beyond me.
Nah, the creatives behind this definitely had something going. It's the Disney execs who wouldn't know a thing about creativity that messed this up by putting their grubby money-hungry hands on this instead of letting creators do their job.
@@anothermiddleschoolburnout8816 i read something about how the songwriter (Julia Michaels? Julia Fox?), who typically writes pop songs, was NOT in the writers' room. she wrote the songs quite literally in a vacuum and had no idea what the movie was about. Like typically Disney songwriters are with the movie writers in the writers room, and i feel it explains why the songs from Wish feel so mediocre and vague, its because Disney quite literally didn't let the woman writing the SONGS FOR THE MOVIE KNOW WHAT THE MOVIE EVEN WAS!!
Right!!!! Didn’t Disney notice ANYTHING when Encanto came out and people were being practically insane for Camilo???? Did they learn nothing?? It was right there.
The villain couple could go along alike Morticia and Gomez, I could totally see Magnifico being lovey dovey with his wife and falling harder the more evil she went. Like, she going "I'll murder the whole family" and him going "Ain't she cute? she wants to erase their misery, I love that woman" or he trying to do something evil and she going "how cute of him being so kind.... do it worse sweetie, you can do it"
Them saying the star boy would be too much like the Genie Is just an excuse for their lack of creativity. Like this is such a different character type that no one would have complained. Considering the excessive amount of references that were shoe horned in, this would be the least offensive call back/ reference. LIKE IMAGINE all the subtle call backs to classic Disney Romance scenes. Maybe they fly through the clouds in a shot similar to the magic carpet ride, or dance across the woods like the scene from Sleeping Beauty Or he spins her around like Ariel and Eric at the end when she has that fabulous purple dress. Like COME ON?!! ALSO Speaking of dresses… GODDAMNIT she should have had a magical dress transformation/ power up that mirrors Cinderella’s dress transformation. It was Walt’s favorite scene of animation and it’s criminal that they didn’t do it for the 100th ANNIVERSARY. Like first of all LITTLE GIRLS LOVE PRETTY MAGICAL DRESSES, it would have been amazing from a financial perspective. Sell those princess dresses! Secondly, Asha’s dress is pretty, but not Elsa level “oh my god I need to wear that, she looks so cool!” Little girls wear Belle’s yellow dress not her blue town outfit even though she wears it a majority of the movie. They had to change Ariel’s dress from the pink to Teal to make her stand out more in the line up and have something easier to wear than the Mermaid tail dresses. Point being, Asha doesn’t stand out as much when they already have a princess with a purple dress. Her dress really needed to either be accented with another color, or just have a different silhouette since Rapunzel’s is also an A-line purple dress with long sleeves. It’s so simple and generic. Asha could have been like dark and light blue with yellow star accents! Pulling from the imagery of Mickey’s Sorcer’s hat but also honoring Snow White the og princess.
Have you ever seen the Shining Nikki Star Sea dress? I would imagine her in something like that for the lineup, which looks like a night sky. The darkness of the dress with sparkles, stars (that maybe glow in the dark) and gold accents would definitely make it look unique in the lineup. Also give my girl a different hairstyle?! Just having braids is boring. Like… you can style braids. You can just give her a bow or ribbon like a lot of other Princesses. You can also put gold cuffs on the braids-that would be amazing. Or beads! And where are her edges? Anyways, she looks dull.
An idea I conceived for an wholesome ending between Star boy and Asha, is that he’d be asked during the film if he’s ever had a wish of his own? He’s never thought about it, but by the end of it, he finally knows what he wants the most. To be with Asha, but because he has to fly amongst the stars to maintain his duties, his wish grants Asha golden fairy wings which she can call upon to see him, so they can dance amongst the stars together 💕
@@TheAkwarium true, but I prefer it when the lover doesn’t have to change race/species to be with their significant other. I think it’s more magical that both get to experience each others world and therefore broaden each others horizons being true to themselves 🙂
@@lauraroberts3520 oh yes! I understand I like that too (my favourite movie is Princess Mononoke, where the protagonist doesn't try to change the woman he loves and accepts her for who she is), but I thought about it as in a callback to Disney's Hercules
The saddest part is that if star was starboy, Asha wouldn't be out here with immortal sparkle entity who she can use to support her selfish goals, she'd have another person to take responsibility for, which would make all of her actions way more likely to be sympathized with if she's doing it to protect a loved one's life. We weren't JUST robbed of Starboy. We were robbed of Asha's character arc.
See everyone one wants a Jack Frost type prince. I always thought of Asha and Starboy reversing the damsel in distress trope people always complained about about Disney Princesses. Imagine how amazing Asha, the passionate sorcerer's apprentice, saving the magically space prince. JUST IMAGINE
I'VE ACTUALLY THOUGHT OF THIS!! I want a SHAPESHIFTER BATTLE between Asha and the king! This is a reference to The Sword In The Stone, with the battle between Merlin and Madame Min. Perhaps Starboy is weak and he grants Asha the last of his magic because he loves her so she uses it to do an epic shapeshifter battle with the king! REALLY lean into the whole "love makes you stronger" message of old Disney movies as Starboy's love literally grants Asha her ability to shapeshift. And then Asha uses everything in her arsenal to save him. I'm so unbelievably obsessed with the thought of the fairy godmother and the wishing star falling in love. That is literally peak Disney, and it fits so well. These two persons/troupes have been recurring things in all of Disney, and having them fall in love is just... so wonderful to me. It comes full circle and makes me feel just so warm and happy. We could have references during the battle as well! Maybe Magnifico can have a dragon form similar to Maleficent, and this battle allows for a lot of tension and comedic bits. Heck, you wanna go FULL Disney? Have Asha defeat Magnifico with a magic sword! Make her a knight in shining armor while you're at it!
@@laraschroeder5195 *THIS* should have been the movie!!! NEW DISNEY IS TOO WOKE, feminism doesn’t mean *asexual,* romance *can* happen and we can still have an excellent story!!! *CAN WE PLEASE GET OLD DISNEY BACK?!*
@@gemfanclub The problem isn't Disney being "too woke", it's not understanding what "woke" actually means. Like you said, feminism doesn't mean asexual (and I agree with this statement as an asexual woman), and understanding that is a part of being "woke". Disney has already helped be progressive by branching out and having characters that don't have romance stories at all (like Elsa and Moana), and by having more healthy portrayals of romance when they do happen in their more modern films. Having two straight couples is not inherently "anti-woke". Actually being woke does involve acknowledging and representing the existence of other orientations, but also doing so for other lifestyle choices (like choosing to be single) and just generally acknowledging that the typical "being white and cishet in a nuclear family setup" isn't the only correct way to live and exist. Not every single thing seen as "woke" needs to be done in every film in order for the filmmakers to be seen as progressive either. I see Frozen as progressive (at least by Disney standards) because it didn't feel the need to pair up Elsa with someone at the end and let Anna and Kristoff have a much more healthy relationship dynamic between them than a lot of other couples in Disney films before it. Its lack of LGBTQ+ characters doesn't suddenly cancel out those other progressive elements.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - really does feel like Dreamworks dancing on the coffin of what Disney once was. A powerful man who collects "magical icons" and doesn't care about who gets hurt, or what's lost in the process... who wants it all... and in the end, is a star that collapses in on itself. The one detail that is important to hold onto for all movies going forward is that they simply are often no longer specifically made for a US audience. Disney and every other major studio has to sell to china and other major audiences from conservative countries, without outright spitting on the US audience. Looking at the original art, they were likely hoping people would latch onto the cutesy star, specifically kids
Funny thing: there are at least two "re-animate Wish" fan projects going on that I know of xD If at least one of them reaches it's complition, that would be awesome!
@@ryanbond3677 huh, weard, I just noticed that my reply didn't get posted! Here is the answer again, over a week later xD I only remember one of the chanels, since I actually followed it to watch the progress. That channel is "Pinkiemachine Studios" and her project "Alisia and the Kingdom of Starlight", becouse she obviously couldn't name it "Wish: the rewrite" for copyright reasons xD
They could've easily used the marketable plushie star as the form that meets Asha in the beginning before studying her and shifting into Star Boy. EASY!
If a love story is done well, it can turn out to be the best thing in a movie, fantasy or sci-fi or anything. People who hate on love stories just don't understand the actual impact that connecting with someone can have on a character's journey. It's the best trope that can make or break a character
I think people hate on love stories because so many of them are intrusive and poorly done. A good love story is fantastic. A good love story doesn't take away from the character arcs or worldbuilding, instead it expands on those things.
I don't want lovestories shoehorned into storylines. And I finally want sweet friendship moments between genders and of the same genders without weird ro.antic or sexual tension. For me genuine good friendships in stories are usually the best thing. Because mistly, they don't get interrupted by unnecessary drama.
@@TheElfchen1 No matter what gender the friendship between the two characters are, social media (And fandoms) will never let them be just friends, heck, even if the two characters barely interacted or hate each other, they still force us to think that there is actually something going on between the two.
Even if they didn't want to have another typical love story, they could have kept the starboy design and make them soulmate friends and still grow together, hell it would even make it unique to have a story about a hetero pair being friends and be each other's "safe spot" since it's rare enough.
Not being an avid Disney fan but hearing secondhand how Wish robbed us all of mute, shape-shifter, second-coming-of-Jack-Frost Starboy is a painful and disappointing experience. I'm not even in this fandom, yet I still mourn. (obviously being hyperbolic, but it always sucks to see wasted potential)
Disney: A little chibi Star? Nononononono, he was supposed to be a shapeshifter, bubbly and Asha’s love interest. Star: I COULDVE BEEN A SHAPESHIFTER??? Disney: We made concept art! But we decided it was too much like the genie. Star: I COULDVE BEEN A SHAPESHIFTER???????? no but seriously they could’ve made him like bug from starship and he would be the cutest thing ever
We can't have a shapeshifting guy in our 100 year anniversary movie making references to old movies! The only Disney movies with shapeshifting in them have been: Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, Brother Bear, The Emperor's New Groove, The Sword in the Stone, Pinocchio, The Princess and the Frog, Brave, Raya and the Last Dragon, Turning Red...
Starboy being vaguely similar to Genie: Disney's executives: THAT'S ILLEGAL Asha being a lesser Mirabel, who was already a lesser Moana, who was already a lesser Anna, who was already a lesser Rapunzel: Disney's executives: THAT'S THE SHIT! PITCH!
dont diss my girls Mirabel, Moana, Anna, and Rapunzel like that; they're all very different and all equally strong characters and all equally WAYY better than Asha
Moana doesn't belong here. I think people only include her, because her face looks like Mirabel and Asha, but personality wise, not at all alike. Mona + Mirabel could probably be alike tho, but all together?? Nah
My favourite hc about Starboy is him pointing at the sky where two stars are shining next to each other and telling Asha that's his parents, Evangeline and Ray
Fanfic writers will make him turn up in stuff anyway. It only takes one cute picture of Starboy holding back Tinkerbell from glassing someone in a bar and it’ll take over the internet.
Wish is a great example on why fanfiction is necessary; literal wish-fulfillment. It helps salve the disappointment. Not only that, but see what could've been and make us flex our own creative muscles to see what would've worked and learn from what didn't. Some tweet post said it best; this felt like a product instead of a movie. Disney sees something to sell without a soul and run by corpos. It does *not* look good when everyone and their mother prefers what was left on the cutting room floor instead of the final result.
And the worst thing for me is They Could Have Had BOTH. Maybe the Luma is his favorite form besides Starboy, maybe he uses it to hide cause it's smaller, maybe he uses it to act cute when he annoys Asha, maybe Magnifico captures him and tears out a bunch of his powers and he's stuck as a Luma cause he's weak?? Maybe he meets Asha as the Luma and only transforms into Starboy to spook her as a prank, and then eventually stays more and more as a boy cause she takes him more seriously that way??? (Cause let's face it, she's not even gonna consider the idea of a date with a tiny little star mascot) So many missed opportunities.
Someone had the hc that the main plot couldve put Asha and Starboy on a time limit by having wishes start dying, amd thus having Starboy begin to wither away. It could be like a physical metaphor for how dreams begin to die the more pwoerful people get greedy or smth. I think it wouldve been really really cool
This reminds me of how there was supposed to be a spin-off off the Tangled series, “Varian and the Seven Kingdoms” with everyone’s favorite character, Varian. I remember the animatics and comics flooding in when Disney decided to not do it; the fans created the story themselves. Disney keeps on making bad decisions AGHH!!
I bet it's because Disney didn't want to make a TV show were the protagonist was a boy. They're going for this fake "progressiveness" by putting importance only on female characters, while not putting actual effort in writing good stories and characters.
I saw the concept art with the star being a love interest for Asha and Queen Amaya being a villain along with the king and I thought it was much more interesting. It could be a tribute to Disney classics. I imagined it like this: an evil couple with the king and queen against a good couple "Star Boy" and Asha, I could imagine scenarios like this; King Magnifico would be the more active and aggressive villain while Queen Amaya would be the more manipulative and cunning of the two, and they REALLY LOVE EACH OTHER, they wouldn't stay together just for convenience, but because of their real and mutual love for each other, but they would still be just as nasty and mean as any old Disney villain. By the way, King Magnifico has the green color scheme for his magic so the queen could have purple colored magic, that way we would have the classic Disney villain colors, green and purple, but separated, as there would be two villains now, also the The villains' song could be a great duet with them singing and dancing and acting loving towards each other as they sing about the nasty things they have planned for the kingdom and as this happens purple and green magical lights dance around them to the music , showing that they are in complete sync, this musical number could be followed or preceded by a musical number by "Star Boy" and Asha with the golden stardust that appears in the concept art, dancing around them in time to their music, basically showing that the villains and the heroes are mirror images, they are in love, they want to achieve something, but due to their mindset, moral compasses and desires they are completely opposite.
I agree that having a bitter-sweet ending where Star Boy has to leave Asha behind would have been so impactful. Kind of like how John Smith had to leave Pocahontas behind at the end of the film. And I feel like at the very least, having Magnifico and Amaya be an evil couple could have been an interesting parallel to Star Boy and Asha, like Magnifico/Amaya is what a toxic relationship looks like while Star Boy/Asha is what a sweet, loving relationship looks like.
The Starboy and the little round star could have happened with a shapeshifter. The fat little star could be one of his major forms, with Starboy being the other.
Exactly. Starboy could've shapeshifted into roundstar-plushie many times in the film, that is a good enough excuse to put Star boy in the film while STILL having a marketable plushie. Dang it Disney...
Imagine Asha having an internal conflict with having to choose between the person who she loves (Starboy) and fullfilling her parents' (the villian couple) wishes!!! That would be so interesting to see, basically a Romeo and Juliet plot but with a Disney flair!!! Why is Disney corporate so deeply afraid of good and interesting stories? One of my favorite parts about fandoms is when the fans take the story when we are left with nothing; something similiar is happening in another fandom I'm in where some fans started a project to write and create seasons 4 and onward after Netflix showed no interest in greenlighing another season of the show and it is honestly just as good as the actual show, if not better. Fans are full of creativity and passion, and if they're committed enough, they can remake an entire movie that'll do a much better job at celebrating Disney's 100th anniversary.
Waittt her parents wouldve been manifictp and amaya… i always thought those werw her parents when i saw the fight scene for the song… 😂 until I watched the movie she isnt… Theres a lot missing wish… this star boy thing is prolly why
I think Disney is going to end up failing at movies altogether and only become a theme park company because this is the only thing they’re still good at.😅
The theme parks aren't even that good either, Disney right now thrives off of it's own nostalgia but even that is bound to dry up when the children of recent years don't have any Disney media to connect and make memories with. And I couldn't be happier for that 😂😂❤
As someone who went to disneyland and California adventure in 2022.... It's vastly different from 2017 and was only moderately fun compared to 2017... it's absolutely unfortunate.... it was worth it but it just wasn't as fun as it use to be and the lines are awful and fast pass became genie+ which was the worst decision ever (it also costs twice as much as original fast passes did)
I remember binging a bunch of star boy content (never seen the film) and mentally ended up with a treasure planet vibes astral steampunk story between a socially awkward, introverted and slightly harsh inventor girl and a bubbly but utterly confused with human etiquette star boy and they’re both trying to figure out how socialisation works while becoming close friends, and end up taking down the dictator of her city that wanted to use the star boy as a power source to power his illegal underground planetary mining operation.
11:30 when it comes to marketing let's not forget that Disney marketed on how cute Moana's pig was, and he wasn't even in the movie for more than 4 minutes. He was even on the trailer poster. Disney could have milked the heck out of a shape-shifting being. Also what's wrong with copying the genie? The whole point was to pay homage to the classics. We could had a "do you trust me" scene, I feel robbed

That’s exactly what I thought of when the Starboy concept art came out. Nightlight from the Guardians of Childhood books is literally a mute star being who protected his charge (Manny) with his life, befriended and grew to love a sweet gal named Katherine, and then spent years living through multiple human lives until finding his way back to his magical family under the ‘Jack Overlander Frost’ identify. If DreamWorks really wanted to deal some great blows to Disney and make RotG fans really happy, they should totally capitalize on Jack Frost being Nightlight (or possessing a piece of him) and add in the book elements like the Fearlings, Mother Nature, and of course Katherine aka Mother Goose. Give fans a few pointers and a week or two, and they’ll totally come up with some great ideas 😁
@@raisou9750 I’n afraid I don’t know that reference and my general Google search did not clear anything up for me, so sorry that I can’t provide a definite answer. I will say that with Night Light, he took on the role as Manny’s guardian when the later was a baby, then when the Fearlings started taking over the universe Night Light took and protected Manny while his parents ended up perishing in an attack. At some point, Night Light fought a formerly decorated general who became possessed by the Fearlings and ended up trapped for years when the beings crashed to earth. During that time, Manny lived on the moon with other creatures and kept a look out for his friend/guardian. Eventually the book’s story catches up where Pitch (the corrupted general) escapes his imprisonment and Night Light also re-appears, though has some memory troubles and questions himself and his place as his friendship with Katherine deepens and Manny no longer needs his guardian as much. He disappears during a later battle and goes through hundreds of years of disguises and lives until, like I said earlier, he finds his friends again and decides he does want to pursue a deeper relationship with Katherine, and the story ends with the two holding hands and vowing to be there for each other and the children of the world. So does that sound like the person/title you’re thinking of?
@@jendoe9436 Sorry if the Imbibitor Lunae reference caught you off-guard but the storyline kind of reminded me of the Imbibitor Lunae from Honkai Star Rail, as they are both powerful beings guarding something or someone powerful, The Ambrosial Arbor for the Imbibitor Lunae, the Baby Man in the Moon for nightlight. If turn-based games are your thing, you may like Honkai Star Rail. I won't reveal the current identity of Imbibitor Lunae if you haven't played yet.
seeing the og design of the star boy gave me depression because at that split moment i realized what we could have had and what we lost ... bless the creative people tho that are feeding us well
I think they shot themselves in the foot by denigrating the idea of romance for their female leads for a decade at this point. It's good to have protagonists who don't need romance. It's fine to stand strong and be fulfilled without romantic love. It's good for aro/ace representation. The problem is that Disney went about it acting like the simple idea of romance is somehow a weakness, that a girl finding true love is somehow a bad thing and less empowering, and because of that spin on it, going back to a princess movie with a romance at its heart would feel like regression. Like going back to something they have labeled as inferior. In a perfect world, we would have had stories of solo princesses and stories of romances existing side by side so both ideas can exist as equally strong and beautiful things. Because they are.
It reeks of misguided corporate threat modeling to me. "Oh people kept criticizing us for giving all our female protagonists romances so the only way to avoid backlash is to not write romances anymore". Nevermind that the *actual* criticism is that sometimes they felt forced, were totally unnecessary and/or distracting from the story and especially the female protagonist's agency/journey, not that people inherently hate romance arcs. I suspect they didn't greenlight the idea of the Queen being an antagonist for a similar reason; "we've received criticism for how we've written female villains in the past, so the only solution is to not include an evil lady in the big celebratory movie". Which, again, is a gross misrepresentation of what the criticisms are actually about. No one is saying "female villain = misogyny". The concept art we have alone reveals that many talented artists who probably knew that they had something worked on this project. What most likely happened is that since it was a milestone movie for the studio, higher-ups with an out of touch understanding of Disney discourse took a squat over the artists' vision to make it as inoffensive as possible, thinking it's more "marketable" that way- because wouldn't it be embarrassing if the movie meant to celebrate the studio ended up flopping? (lmao) I just hope the artists who worked on that concept art are having the biggest "I told you so" moment rn.
Concept: Starboy is prone to pranks and some of them are kinda mean because he doesn't quite get that humans are breakable. They have to sneak into the castle and Starboy disguises as a magic project of Ashah in the form of a cute talking plush. She says to a BIG burly guard that the trick is he says 'I love you' when squeezed. Cue shocked Starboy having to say 'I love you' in a cute squeaky Mickey Mouse type voice accompanied by a silly squeaky toy sound effect. Cue this line as they make their way through the halls: "That was dirty." "I thought you liked pranks?" "Not when *I'M* the one being pranked..." "Mmm hmm~" "I am so getting you back for that." Cue a prank/trick being the thing that saves the day and fading Starboy before he leaves and we get the closing kiss between them "See I said I'd get you back."
We should have a Goncharov/ Ba Sing Se moment and just rewrite reality. Singing goat? Good Amaya? What are you talking about? Anyway here’s 600 Stasha gifs
From what I've seen, there is a fandom for concept Wish right now, it's just too spread out from a lack of content to work with. I think that if we could get more big projects that cover an entire potential story (storyboards, re-writes, animatics, ect.), people could latch onto something and build from there before interest dies down.
Wish and Encanto would of %100 been a thing, not only because Encanto blew up in 2021-2022 but also because of the whole wish candle. I can definitely see people making videos of the star boy being the reason the candle turned magical with the explanation being "The star boy granted Abuelas wish via the candle and protected them t'ill the very end" or something like that
I'm not only disappointed but absolutely ashamed of what Disney has become. The only good thing Wish did was inspire others to become creative and make a better version of the movie that was supposed to celebrate a 100 years of creativity, magic, and imagination. Even in Tumblr there are a bunch of rewrites, currently following and not only does it fix the songs and story, but did the references SOO much better.
16:45 Coley: *talking about potential Wish rewrites akin to "Stardust"* Me: *also getting new fanfic ideas for a crossover of the two* Also, I know most people don't like when Disney does live-action remakes of their animated movies, but I high-key kinda hope they do a live-action remake of this one someday and make it stick closer to the concepts they were originally gonna use...
It's wild they were afraid of Starboy being a second Genie while intentionally making the 7 dwarves as Asha's friends, it's the 100th anniversary special, there should've been references to all the movies that made the company's survival possible. Even if the character's roots are obvious, they're still being used in new ways to tell a new story, better that than bland marketability to the lowest common denominator. Also Magnifico should've been corrupted by a cursed cauldron instead of a book, referencing how The Black Cauldron nearly bankrupted the company
So many potential memes about this situation - Goncharov looking over at Wish like "first time?" Or the winged lesbian angel chick rescuing the girl from the rubble, labeled "Wish concept art" and "Wish fans." Or fan-artists eyes reflecting Starboy's concept art and then pulling on the Infinity Gauntlet saying "fine, I'll do it myself."

seeing my fanfic pop up in a video is so surreal 🤧 even though we’re small and disorganized i love the tiny wish fandom that we have. ofc it would’ve been better if we had our starboy but the creativity of the fandom is really inspiring
Wish and PiB: The Last Wish could have been an EPIC crossover fandom. We’d add others, of course, but the fallen star they’re all looking for could have been where Starboy fell or it’s the source of his powers on “earth” (the planet) or really anything. It could have been great.
That was what I was waiting for when I heard and saw the previews of Wish. I was hoping for more crossover fanarts between the two and how they're compared to each other, being a Disney and Dreamworks movies (Similarities and comparisons are inevitable between their movies). In fact, I can defintely consider those two movies as the new answers to each other (Alongside things like Bugs Life/Antz and Finding Nemo/Shark tales).

Please do a one piece Fandom video I beg of though
@Trixabella87 definitely taking that into consideration for my own rewrite
You should totally do your own Wish rewrite video if you’d like
Starboy being mute could have also worked as a little mermaid reference. I imagine him being really curious and amazed at everything around him.

A lot of confusing decisions were made which made me wonder what the heck was going on behind the scenes and who thought this was the best idea.
Because Ray from The Princess and The Frog is already the second star to the right
1) They laid off half of the animation staff to save money so the corpos took over the rest of the film.
2) Two heterosexual couples in a Disney princess movie is not ESG friendly. If they want those government and Black Rock dollars they need to remove all romance unless it's one between two characters of approved identity groups.
3) Plushie toys are easier to make than prince dolls.

Even though they said the starboy would be too similar to the Genie, I don’t think anyone would’ve minded!
the whole argument is actually kinda dumb, when you consider that the whole point of this 100 anniversary movie was for Disney to call back to it's own history, and therefore Starboy being similar to the Genie would 100% MAKE SENSE AND FIT IN.

They literally could've had a "you were my new dream" moment in this. I can't believe they struck GOLD with the concepts and used NONE OF THEM. it makes me sad thinking about what could've been.
That would've been very romantic and l haven't even watched the movie yet but
It sounds like there were some very largely missed opportunities there
Now I can´t help but imagine Starboy telling Asha "You were my wish", callback to Tangled.
So cuuuteee

OMG I JUST THOUGHT THAT IF THEY WOULD BE THAT WAY IT WOULDN'T MATTER IF THEY'RE LOVERS OR FRIENDS CZ THEIR RELATIONSHIP TOGETHER, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT'S ROMANTIC OR PLATONIC, WOULD STILL BE SO WHOLESOME AND ENJOYABLE AND CUTE AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WE WERE ROBBEDDDD😭😭😭😭
But considering just how creative fandom can be when given absolutely nothing.
I would gladly rise to the challenge of rewriting Wish WITH Starboy
Have you ever heard of the 2ps in Hetalia? It's basically just like that!
Update, there is a Starboy tag in archive!!!
No yeah this is straight up highway robbery
When I tell you Tumblr would've WORSHIPPED this movie. Starboy, the wish being lantern equivalent so we could've gotten another tangled moment, a new love song as memorable as I See The Light and Whole New World, first villain couple, callbacks to Disney movies, the angst that could happen assuming Star can't stay, a new AU about a star and their human being born & spreading to multiple fandoms, Disney/Dreamworks resurgence. It would've been WILD 😭
(Edited for grammar)
I thought I had gotten over this and then you went ahead and mentioned the host of AUs that would spawn and I realized that I am NOT over what we lost
i was HEAVY into disney/dreamworks fandom and was a big jack frost/rapunzel shipper so your comment and the video is making my chest hurt with middle school fangirl nostalgia
100% 😭😭
Also shout out to Journey To Bethlehem’s Good To Be King as an epic Broadway villain song from a musical!

as someone who's a part of the maurauders fandom, don't give up girlies, in 2-3 years you'll forget the actual plot of the movie and the fics and animatics will have become canon enough for you all to be able to gaslight people who've never seen the movie into believing it's actually great.
2 quick things
1: apparently, there was also an idea for Asha to be the princess of Rosas. So there also would have been a great conflict between parent and child. Especially the Father daughter conflict, which we don't have many examples of in Disney.
2. That thing you said with jack frost singing, I kind you not I found an animatic of Jack and Elsa singing At All Costs, and it was great.
Omg that family conflict point would have been so good for plot and representation of "all kids deserve parents, not all parents deserve kids."
You can't just say that and not drop the link of the Jelsa animatic 🤨🙏
My personal favorite animatic has them doing the “in my head” singing older Disney films did as they literally fly around Rosas. It’s beautiful
Throw in some collaborations with Elton John and Phil Collins and the soundtrack would’ve slapped so hard
Give Sting their chance to shine after their music wasn't used in The Emperor's New Groove, being relegated to a spot on the album ost
Oh so she was just screwed from the beginning too. Did Disney even want this to be a success?@@ichangednametoamorecringyo1489

Ao3 Disneys harder than Disney and that is a timeline I'm comfortable living in.
It is an interesting thing when a fandom has more creativity and originality than literal professional scriptwriters.
In other news, water is wet
As much as I dislike MLB, the fandom is pretty creative, I'll give them that.
Right!!!! Didn’t Disney notice ANYTHING when Encanto came out and people were being practically insane for Camilo???? Did they learn nothing?? It was right there.
45% of their demographic are teenagers with raging hormones, c'mon now, Disney! Know your audience!
The villain couple could go along alike Morticia and Gomez, I could totally see Magnifico being lovey dovey with his wife and falling harder the more evil she went. Like, she going "I'll murder the whole family" and him going "Ain't she cute? she wants to erase their misery, I love that woman" or he trying to do something evil and she going "how cute of him being so kind.... do it worse sweetie, you can do it"
OMG YES YESSSSS
ALSO Speaking of dresses…
GODDAMNIT she should have had a magical dress transformation/ power up that mirrors Cinderella’s dress transformation.
It would've been really cool if her dress became a Moroccan-inspired gown with constellations as decoration.
Omg yes why didn’t she have a dress! Most of the movie doesn’t even take advantage of the constellation blue and gold style that has become popular
Y'know the star that princess Tiana always wished on?, starboy could've been a reference to that omgosh Disney is so freaking stupid!!!
Yet another reference Disney had missed.
Starboy could've been Asha's EVANGELINE !!!!!
How much money do you think their stupidity has cost them do far?
An idea I conceived for an wholesome ending between Star boy and Asha, is that he’d be asked during the film if he’s ever had a wish of his own?
He’s never thought about it, but by the end of it, he finally knows what he wants the most. To be with Asha, but because he has to fly amongst the stars to maintain his duties, his wish grants Asha golden fairy wings which she can call upon to see him, so they can dance amongst the stars together 💕
Oh my goodness, that would have been so wholesome!!
it could also be that he wishes to be human, to stay with Asha
@@TheAkwarium true, but I prefer it when the lover doesn’t have to change race/species to be with their significant other. I think it’s more magical that both get to experience each others world and therefore broaden each others horizons being true to themselves 🙂
@@lauraroberts3520 oh yes! I understand I like that too (my favourite movie is Princess Mononoke, where the protagonist doesn't try to change the woman he loves and accepts her for who she is), but I thought about it as in a callback to Disney's Hercules
@@TheAkwarium yeah that’s fair 🙂
The saddest part is that if star was starboy, Asha wouldn't be out here with immortal sparkle entity who she can use to support her selfish goals, she'd have another person to take responsibility for, which would make all of her actions way more likely to be sympathized with if she's doing it to protect a loved one's life. We weren't JUST robbed of Starboy. We were robbed of Asha's character arc.
Would have been too similar to the genie? Trust me Disney, you couldn't make something similar to Robin William's Genie even if you tried.
And they did. In the live action remake. Look how that turned out.
And they even tried in the later Renaissance films, infamously.
Hence Mr. "I've got a FUR wedgie" and Professor "I'm losing to a BIRD"

*THIS* should have been the movie!!!
Funny thing: there are at least two "re-animate Wish" fan projects going on that I know of xD

Disney: "Oh no can't have a character that's too much like the genie!" Also Disney: Recycles the same quirky princes over and over and over.
@@TheElfchen1 that's hardly the point I was trying to make. No need to force your opinion/hatred onto my own take
@@TheElfchen1 No matter what gender the friendship between the two characters are, social media (And fandoms) will never let them be just friends, heck, even if the two characters barely interacted or hate each other, they still force us to think that there is actually something going on between the two.

We can't have a shapeshifting guy in our 100 year anniversary movie making references to old movies! The only Disney movies with shapeshifting in them have been:
Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, Brother Bear, The Emperor's New Groove, The Sword in the Stone, Pinocchio, The Princess and the Frog, Brave, Raya and the Last Dragon, Turning Red...
Starboy being vaguely similar to Genie:
Disney's executives: THAT'S ILLEGAL
Asha being a lesser Mirabel, who was already a lesser Moana, who was already a lesser Anna, who was already a lesser Rapunzel:

Yea.. I ain’t gonna let that Moana jab go
Moana doesn't belong here. I think people only include her, because her face looks like Mirabel and Asha, but personality wise, not at all alike. Mona + Mirabel could probably be alike tho, but all together?? Nah

Mute starboy. Silly Disney missed the mark by making it a round star thing
(Cause let's face it, she's not even gonna consider the idea of a date with a tiny little star mascot)

I still stalk that fandom for new works. Cant get enough. The writers on Ao3 make their fanfics so convincing, I sometimes forget it's not canon.
I saw the concept art with the star being a love interest for Asha and Queen Amaya being a villain along with the king and I thought it was much more interesting. It could be a tribute to Disney classics. I imagined it like this: an evil couple with the king and queen against a good couple "Star Boy" and Asha, I could imagine scenarios like this;
King Magnifico would be the more active and aggressive villain while Queen Amaya would be the more manipulative and cunning of the two, and they REALLY LOVE EACH OTHER, they wouldn't stay together just for convenience, but because of their real and mutual love for each other, but they would still be just as nasty and mean as any old Disney villain.
That's really creative and actually complex and interesting while sounding Disneyi

So true! Now Disney’s a turkey.
It feels like the fandom is more disney THAN DISNEY THEMSELF
Maybe as he slowly starts to like humans, he begins to become more human.
Exactly. Starboy could've shapeshifted into roundstar-plushie many times in the film, that is a good enough excuse to put Star boy in the film while STILL having a marketable plushie.

The fact that Jack Frost was a nightlight in his original stories aswell 😮
AAHHHH THE CROSSOVERS 😭😭
@@jendoe9436so he's an Imbibitor Lunae of some sorts?
I won't reveal the current identity of Imbibitor Lunae if you haven't played yet.
seeing the og design of the star boy gave me depression because at that split moment i realized what we could have had and what we lost ... bless the creative people tho that are feeding us well
I think modern Disney hates romance when they scratched the original concept
They got beaten by lizard Adam Sandler!
But didnt we got elemental?

Concept: Starboy is prone to pranks and some of them are kinda mean because he doesn't quite get that humans are breakable. They have to sneak into the castle and Starboy disguises as a magic project of Ashah in the form of a cute talking plush. She says to a BIG burly guard that the trick is he says 'I love you' when squeezed. Cue shocked Starboy having to say 'I love you' in a cute squeaky Mickey Mouse type voice accompanied by a silly squeaky toy sound effect.
Cue this line as they make their way through the halls:
"That was dirty."
"I thought you liked pranks?"
"Not when *I'M* the one being pranked..."
"Mmm hmm~"
"I am so getting you back for that."
Cue a prank/trick being the thing that saves the day and fading Starboy before he leaves and we get the closing kiss between them "See I said I'd get you back."
Honestly, having the original VA of Jack Frost in the same movie as the generation's new Jack Frost? IMAGINE THE FANART, IMAGINE THE
FANIMATIONS.
19:14 HELLO??? I GOT LEGIT CHILLS??? *Head in hands* I love everyones creativity, but it only also makes me depressed over what we could've had.
Disney: *praying* "please send us a fandom for Wish. Send us the nicest fandom you ever had"
Fandom with Starboy: *evil laugh*
9:24 The funny thing is that he really seems to have chemistry with all of them lol.
Wish and Encanto would of %100 been a thing, not only because Encanto blew up in 2021-2022 but also because of the whole wish candle. I can definitely see people making videos of the star boy being the reason the candle turned magical with the explanation being "The star boy granted Abuelas wish via the candle and protected them t'ill the very end" or something like that
Or another star being in relation to star boy!
Still can’t believe Disney fumbled the ball this badly when dreamworks of all people are going hard
16:45 Coley: *talking about potential Wish rewrites akin to "Stardust"*
Me: *also getting new fanfic ideas for a crossover of the two*
Also, I know most people don't like when Disney does live-action remakes of their animated movies, but I high-key kinda hope they do a live-action remake of this one someday and make it stick closer to the concepts they were originally gonna use...
So many potential memes about this situation - Goncharov looking over at Wish like "first time?"
Or the winged lesbian angel chick rescuing the girl from the rubble, labeled "Wish concept art" and "Wish fans."
Or fan-artists eyes reflecting Starboy's concept art and then pulling on the Infinity Gauntlet saying "fine, I'll do it myself."
Are you talking about mercy from overwatch 😭😭😭
@@bellyjelly0812 OMG yes, I had to go look it up on know-your-meme, but yeah that's it! XD I don't KNOW that she's an angel lesbian, but that haircut, ya know?
seeing my fanfic pop up in a video is so surreal 🤧 even though we’re small and disorganized i love the tiny wish fandom that we have. ofc it would’ve been better if we had our starboy but the creativity of the fandom is really inspiring
1:29 is so real. brain rot for one fandom then 2 months later its something completely different-
