Imagine the amount of times where you get to diagnose Hanahaki Disease, changing someone’s life by telling them their actually pregnant, the amount of people who run away from their rooms AND all the people coming in with life-threatening injuries soaked in rain, falling into a coma and waking up when their love confesses their love and kisses them.
Or the one where you’re the doctor that has to tell the surgery patient who just woke up that their love interest gave up (insert organ here) so that they’d survive the operation

I can actually imagine the Only One Bed Hotel. It’s a regular hotel most of the time. However, there’s a little bell on the door that ONLY WORKS when main characters enter the hotel. That’s when the staff get to work relocating the bed, and making the room look as suspiciously romantic as possible. They put ‘caution maintenance’ tape on all the stairwells, and always select a room on the very top floor so the main characters get the longest elevator rides available. They put out of order signs on the pool, only taking it off when the main characters approach. They always add just ‘that little bit of extra flare’ to the main characters room service meals, he it a complementary desert, side dish, flower, decorations, etc. They also always just take a liittle bit longer to bring the food so that whatever sexual tension both characters are hoping to escape but also basking in isn’t interrupted. Ofc, there are many other tasks, but these are just the highlights of what the job description entails. Basically, their sole purpose becomes making sure the main characters spend as much alone time together as possible.
How would you know who the main character is? Anyway I don't really get this trope because I have been to exactly that situation myself of having a share a bed with a platonic friend on a hotel since the other were sold out and we were going for a concert. And nothing really happened of a sexual or romantic nature (nor did I really want to or neither did my friend most likely). It was a nice stay. But just seem unrealistic something "interesting" gonna happen

Everyone knows main characters have a different energy from us regular folks. Second, it’s fine if you don’t like it, I’m personally not a big fan either (being that I’m indifferent and don’t go out of my way to read it), but… it’s fanfiction. It’s not SUPPOSED to be 100% realistic. It’s supposed to be a bit whimsical and out of this world. It’s where the impossible can happen, and quirky situations end up being the breeding ground for true love. Like it’s fine if u don’t care and would rather it be realistic, but at the end of the day, a lot of tropes aren’t gonna be that way. I can tell you’re a person who maybe is a little too set in reality considered u tried to question the logistics of a fantasy, not real at all hotel described by one dumb commenter on a trope video, and that’s fine! Just… some people are more into fantasy and fate, and trying to question their imagination can kinda put a damper on the whole vibe, so just be careful.

In a fanfic, I would be a friend of 2 agents that come from rivalling companies. They would send me to chat with the other and get secretive information. I'd use this as an opportunity to set them up. I'd tell each of them lies, saying stuff like "They said they noticed you spying on them once, but decided to let you go because they said they liked you" and stuff like that. Then, I'd set them up to meet each other (and probably set them up to go to a coffee shop or café). When they did, I'd watch them from afar and watch things unravel. You should know what happens after that.

May be weird, but being a Hanahaki doctor while having a florist best friend is really interesting! I get to help the main characters with their problems and get helped by the florist on different ways to help them according to the flowers. It's kind of bittersweet, actually. Imagine, watching your patients get worse and worse, while you and the florist can only give advice and medication. Then, it's up to the patient. Some you will never see alive again, others will be a completely different person if they got the rekoval procedure from you, and the original target of the feelings may come to you due to the same problem. But on happy cases, you'll feel the eternal happiness of succeeding and the love they have for their partner, or just friend in case of platonic Hanahaki. On tragedies, the doctor and the florist will only have each other. Personally, leaving these two concept people as friends through tragedy with no romance is perfect for me. Be free to disagree!
I just realized that my parents are currently experiencing the opposite of the Only One Bed trope. We’re on vacation, and their room has two beds, and they’re each using one.
My fanfic job would be a college English professor who dresses in sweaters and slacks, somehow isn't stressed 24/7, and actually has free time to write at coffee shops. I watch as my students go through their love dramas- I am thriving during the poetry unit. I keep longingly staring at one Studio Art professor who always wears sapphic tee shirts as we pass by in between office hours.
There is a place like this near where I live, it's a coffee and a library specialising in SF and Fantasy books and all their goods have fantasy names. Needless to say I'm there often haha

I just really love the idea of helping them with any trauma or problems they may have (Depends on how much angst, yknow?) Like those fics where there's some sort of past relationship trauma with the MC that is interfering with their current relationship, and I'm the therapist that tries my best to help them. Hopefully I could do my job well enough to turn the fic from angst to hurt/comfort.
I would be a wedding planner for all of my favourite couples, specialising in making the wedding rings for each couple. I also do wedding portraits on the side. Idc if the couple wants flame rings or their wedding in the snowy mountains. I'll do it all and more to see my favourite couples get married. This or the weird novelist who knows a lot of weirdly factual details but the main couple can't prove anything because that would mean calling themselves out.

They assume the author, a guy called chuck, is a prophet or something because he knows details that nobody else does. Thing is, angels have lists of prophets burned into their eyes, and chuck isn't one. He's just... A guy. One that knows things nobody else does, and one who has never even met the guys, he thought they were fictional.

Basically Bigfoot wants to go to Tibet and find yetis, because, and this is one line that's worth spoiling: "Your world keeps getting bigger. Mine keeps getting smaller." The adventurer is a cryptid hunter, and he only wants to bring home definitive proof of the cryptid's existence. No backstabbing, no "You used me!" silliness, the relationship between the two avoids the obvious pitfalls very nicely. But it's not exactly what you were describing: definitely more "Around the World in 40 Days" than "Hotel Transsylvania," depends which tropes you prefer. The fight scenes are fun, too. If you're into the trauma healing of a cryptid in the woods, definitely check it out, it has a fine approach to that. If you want the support group of cryptids, not sure if that's been done yet. Also, it's Laika, so it's stop-motion, obviously. Just a heads-up, don't wanna be giving bad advice.

I would probably be the random pizza worker mentioned in the background of the scene and each time I'm mentioned it becomes clear that a relationship is forming between me and another random character. But the characters are rarely mentioned and only have like 2 or 3 sentences written about them. They also mainly talk about and watch the main otp go on their dates or have dramatic fights and/or reveals in the pizza place.

Considering I'm in a HUGE Transformers fix right now thanks to rise of the beasts and my rewatches of Transformers Prime, I'd have to go with either like a medical examiner/mortician or a Special Agent. That way I can still somehow interact with the autobots and whatever human friends they meet along the way. Being a medical examiner would have me be of use to the team since they would know medicine to some degree, and I'd get to hang out with Ratchet and annoy his ass all day lol. Plus it would be fun to be total opposites I work with Death, Ratchet works to save lives, the duality would be so fun. And OPPOSITES ATTRACT after all lol. Oh it would be like the slowest of slow burns though. Being a Special Agent would allow me to be a liaison to the Bots but who knows how much I'd interact with them; Fowler only ever seemed to show up when sht went wrong and yelled at Prime.

Disregarding my lifelong dream to become part of a mega-famous idol group, I think I’d want to be either the mistress (is it just “mister” for men btw? I just like being evil and honestly, having an entire gigantic evil empire (and for the mistress route, something else that’s gigantic) in the palm of my hands sounds pretty rad.

definitely the palace gardener of a fantasy/royals au. they rarely get recognition but definitely vital to quite a few stories. I'd get to spy on all the royals just taking "walks" in the gardens, be a witness to the confrontations between ml/fl competitors, plan out the entire landscape to feature extra long pathways so the pairing has time to develop their conversation and get to know one another, privacy hedges of fluffy lilac or rosebushes for ~those~ moments. I also get to side eye the king/queen when they order me to plant a field of their SO's favorite flower for their anniversary, or when i have to arrange a large bouquet after a particularly messy argument. I just love plants and the possibilities are endless :D!! (after many failed search attempts i have resorted to writing this myself. we'll see how it goes.)
Well, I work in a lingerie shop in real life, so I’m pretty sure that could come in handy for fanfic characters. I bet most fanfic characters would at least know better than to walk into a lingerie store asking for shoes…
i would pick the one antique shop owner full of magical items to help the main character or some curse thing that will kick start the entire story. the idea that i could drop some foreshadowing, simply be creepy, or be that sort of surrogate parent for a main character.

The fanfiction job I'd like would be the clerk at the Adventurer's Guild in a fantasy world. Decent living standards, get to hang out with all the interesting goblin-slaying personalities without facing the danger of doing it in-person, and you get to be the first in the loop when there's a dragon or a demon-army on the way. And the job itself is basically just a dispatcher but for fantasy-murd-- ehem, *adventures*.
We need more fantasy/scifi jobs on this list. I want to be the mercenary/team member who goes on all the missions with the couple and give them a kick in the butt when they take too long or think on it too much :P

I can actually imagine the Only One Bed Hotel. It’s a regular hotel most of the time. However, there’s a little bell on the door that ONLY WORKS when main characters enter the hotel. That’s when the staff get to work relocating the bed, and making the room look as suspiciously romantic as possible. They put ‘caution maintenance’ tape on all the stairwells, and always select a room on the very top floor so the main characters get the longest elevator rides available. They put out of order signs on the pool, only taking it off when the main characters approach. They always add just ‘that little bit of extra flare’ to the main characters room service meals, he it a complementary desert, side dish, flower, decorations, etc. They also always just take a liittle bit longer to bring the food so that whatever sexual tension both characters are hoping to escape but also basking in isn’t interrupted.
Ofc, there are many other tasks, but these are just the highlights of what the job description entails. Basically, their sole purpose becomes making sure the main characters spend as much alone time together as possible.

Anyway I don't really get this trope because I have been to exactly that situation myself of having a share a bed with a platonic friend on a hotel since the other were sold out and we were going for a concert. And nothing really happened of a sexual or romantic nature (nor did I really want to or neither did my friend most likely). It was a nice stay. Okay, first, the door is magic and it just knows. Everyone knows main characters have a different energy from us regular folks. Second, it’s fine if you don’t like it, I’m personally not a big fan either (being that I’m indifferent and don’t go out of my way to read it), but… it’s fanfiction. It’s not SUPPOSED to be 100% realistic. It’s supposed to be a bit whimsical and out of this world. It’s where the impossible can happen, and quirky situations end up being the breeding ground for true love. Like it’s fine if u don’t care and would rather it be realistic, but at the end of the day, a lot of tropes aren’t gonna be that way. I can tell you’re a person who maybe is a little too set in reality considered u tried to question the logistics of a fantasy, not real at all hotel described by one dumb commenter on a trope video, and that’s fine! Just… some people are more into fantasy and fate, and trying to question their imagination can kinda put a damper on the whole vibe, so just be careful.

In a fanfic, I would be a friend of 2 agents that come from rivalling companies. They would send me to chat with the other and get secretive information. I'd use this as an opportunity to set them up. I'd tell each of them lies, saying stuff like "They said they noticed you spying on them once, but decided to let you go because they said they liked you" and stuff like that. Then, I'd set them up to meet each other (and probably set them up to go to a coffee shop or café). When they did, I'd watch them from afar and watch things unravel. You should know what happens after that.
But then when the they get together and you'll accidentally get in one night stand with the ml's comdeic relief best friend resulting in a spin off

May be weird, but being a Hanahaki doctor while having a florist best friend is really interesting! I get to help the main characters with their problems and get helped by the florist on different ways to help them according to the flowers. It's kind of bittersweet, actually. Imagine, watching your patients get worse and worse, while you and the florist can only give advice and medication. Then, it's up to the patient. Some you will never see alive again, others will be a completely different person if they got the rekoval procedure from you, and the original target of the feelings may come to you due to the same problem. But on happy cases, you'll feel the eternal happiness of succeeding and the love they have for their partner, or just friend in case of platonic Hanahaki. On tragedies, the doctor and the florist will only have each other. Personally, leaving these two concept people as friends through tragedy with no romance is perfect for me. Be free to disagree!

I think I’d be that one artist in fanfiction. You know the one. The one that has their own studio and there’s giant floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe them in sunlight. I know I'm really late, but I'd for sure want to be the therapist for the MC in those angst fics. I just really love the idea of helping them with any trauma or problems they may have (Depends on how much angst, yknow?) Like those fics where there's some sort of past relationship trauma with the MC that is interfering with their current relationship, and I'm the therapist that tries my best to help them. Hopefully I could do my job well enough to turn the fic from angst to hurt/comfort.

@@persialionheart oh there's an entire arc where the boys find a novel series (called supernatural ofc) that's just a rip of their life. They assume the author, a guy called chuck, is a prophet or something because he knows details that nobody else does. Thing is, angels have lists of prophets burned into their eyes, and chuck isn't one. He's just... A guy. One that knows things nobody else does, and one who has never even met the guys, he thought they were fictional.

My dream fanfic job would be cryptid who's generally disconnected from human society and has a stable social network of fellow cryptids who I hang out with regularly, but I secretly have a ✨tragic backstory✨ abt how I used to be human but got turned into a spooky creature in a horrible accident and had to live amongst the fellow creatures. Then Y/N finds me in the woods and heals my trauma bcuz thats what Y/N does I think.

@@galaxydacreature Fair warning, then, for tropes used and not used: it's a Last of Their Kind cryptid asking a Jerk With a Heart to find his kin. Basically Bigfoot wants to go to Tibet and find yetis, because, and this is one line that's worth spoiling: "Your world keeps getting bigger. Mine keeps getting smaller." The adventurer is a cryptid hunter, and he only wants to bring home definitive proof of the cryptid's existence. No backstabbing, no "You used me!" silliness, the relationship between the two avoids the obvious pitfalls very nicely. But it's not exactly what you were describing: definitely more "Around the World in 40 Days" than "Hotel Transsylvania," depends which tropes you prefer. The fight scenes are fun, too. If you're into the trauma healing of a cryptid in the woods, definitely check it out, it has a fine approach to that. If you want the support group of cryptids, not sure if that's been done yet. Also, it's Laika, so it's stop-motion, obviously. Just a heads-up, don't wanna be giving bad advice.

I would probably be the random pizza worker mentioned in the background of the scene and each time I'm mentioned it becomes clear that a relationship is forming between me and another random character. But the characters are rarely mentioned and only have like 2 or 3 sentences written about them. They also mainly talk about and watch the main otp go on their dates or have dramatic fights and/or reveals in the pizza place.

Considering I'm in a HUGE Transformers fix right now thanks to rise of the beasts and my rewatches of Transformers Prime, I'd have to go with either like a medical examiner/mortician or a Special Agent. That way I can still somehow interact with the autobots and whatever human friends they meet along the way. Being a medical examiner would have me be of use to the team since they would know medicine to some degree, and I'd get to hang out with Ratchet and annoy his ass all day lol. Plus it would be fun to be total opposites I work with Death, Ratchet works to save lives, the duality would be so fun. And OPPOSITES ATTRACT after all lol. Oh it would be like the slowest of slow burns though. Being a Special Agent would allow me to be a liaison to the Bots but who knows how much I'd interact with them; Fowler only ever seemed to show up when sht went wrong and yelled at Prime.

@samid.4096 oh dude I WISH I could write for TF cause I'd write SO MUCH SMUT lol. I just don't know if I could ever get characters like Optimus and Ratchet down right. They're hard to write for. Optimus especially since too many people think of him as a badass and that's it. And with Ratchet they only think of him as the kinda grumpy ahole and that's it but they got layers man.
But a really good nsfw series fic is "Passing Time" by Sneezilla I think. It'll be like a little booklet of short stories and MY GOD the first two chapters are just....MMM. It's Synth-En!Ratchet and Y/N (yes I'm a lover of reader insert fics SUE ME 😆) and. Just.

me and my friends once wrote a fanfic about a feisty matchmaker who has to move out of his small hometown to the big city for college and also who has to set up a date for a handsome, kind and unconventionally buff rich boy. the matchmaker would always cuss his handsome future husband out and buff walking teddy bear would always resolve things with a simple hug. we never finished that fic.

Disregarding my lifelong dream to become part of a mega-famous idol group, I think I’d want to be either the mistress (is it just “mister” for men btw? Idk) of the villain who’s trying to take over the galaxy or be the villain himself. I just like being evil and honestly, having an entire gigantic evil empire (and for the mistress route, something else that’s gigantic) in the palm of my hands sounds pretty rad.
I’d love to be a bar tender in a world like bsd where every once and a while a detective/mafia member come by and I get them to spill their problems and can comfort them ❤️
This entire thing reminds me of a show called Dramaworld, it is Kdrama fanfiction in tv form and it is amazing
definitely the palace gardener of a fantasy/royals au. they rarely get recognition but definitely vital to quite a few stories. I'd get to spy on all the royals just taking "walks" in the gardens, be a witness to the confrontations between ml/fl competitors, plan out the entire landscape to feature extra long pathways so the pairing has time to develop their conversation and get to know one another, privacy hedges of fluffy lilac or rosebushes for ~those~ moments. I also get to side eye the king/queen when they order me to plant a field of their SO's favorite flower for their anniversary, or when i have to arrange a large bouquet after a particularly messy argument. I just love plants and the possibilities are endless :D!! (after many failed search attempts i have resorted to writing this myself. we'll see how it goes.)
Well, I work in a lingerie shop in real life, so I’m pretty sure that could come in handy for fanfic characters. I bet most fanfic characters would at least know better than to walk into a lingerie store asking for shoes…

The fanfiction job I'd like would be the clerk at the Adventurer's Guild in a fantasy world. Decent living standards, get to hang out with all the interesting goblin-slaying personalities without facing the danger of doing it in-person, and you get to be the first in the loop when there's a dragon or a demon-army on the way. And the job itself is basically just a dispatcher but for fantasy-murd-- ehem, *adventures*.
