I will never forget the "Mineta is in love with Deku" reveal. The one and only time a character was "revealed" to be queer and it was the queer fans who were insisting it was a mistranslation (thankfully it was lol)
Actually, I feel like it was the queer fans were rolling with the mistranslation and having fun while the other side of the fans trying to clarify the situation. The bkdks were going nuts just for the fact that bakugou was there helping with the retrieval mission
@@tavoiradio7667 that is true, it's just that the whole "this time it's the queer fans insisting it's a mistranslation" was a common joke I saw at the time
I remember that it was fucking hilarious, I genuinely thought he was actually queer and that it was horikoshi's way of getting back at the fandom for being too toxic 💀
For my biggest hyperfixation, that moment was when the creator was doing an art stream, I asked him to draw the protagonist in a maid outfit, and he actually did it. I literally fell to my knees and cried. There were less than 200 people there to witness the process of him drawing it, but Twitter exploded when he posted it a few hours later. To this day, this is the biggest impact I’ve ever had online. Update: In June 2024, he also drew my self-insert, and that one wasn’t even a request! This drawing didn’t impact the fandom, but for me personally, it sure was a crazy moment you had to be there for! Even though I set it as my pfp on Discord, I still can’t believe that actually happened!
for example i was/am obsessed with this webtoon called school bus graveyard and me and the other fastpassers reading the s1 Finale trying not to spoil it but word got out anyway and everyone instantly crumbling into dust….. tbh we’re still in shambles and will continue to be until s2 releases 😭😭😭
oh meee my one big fandom is Kirby, and I felt the absolute meltdown everyone had when a boss in our newest game turned out to be a fakeout and callback to a boss from the previous game. absolutely the funniest thing that has ever happened in this fanbase
Mfw Gen 9 LC had Girafarig and Misdreavus in it for like more than one month and the only reason they were overlooked was because of Dunsparce (It was fucking insane, literally just became a game of sweep with Girafarig, stop it with Misdreavus, or find another way to survive or kill one of the two)
@@whizkeysh0t Something about the minecraft content creators Dream and GeorgeNotFound having an angsty long-distance attraction, inspired by the lyrics of the song Heat Waves from Glass Animals.
The mere existence of undertale AU’s was one of the biggest “you had to be there” thing ever. I remember being in the fandom at its peak and.. oh my god, it was insane. There were literal full scale multi-hour movies being made (through animation) about the cinematic Undertale AU multiverse.. if you know, you know..
when toby fox randomly dropped deltarune randomly on halloween after pretending that his account was hacked... everyone was screaming crying in shambles it was certainly a time
my personal crazy fandom moment was the splatoon 3 reveal. literally NOBODY saw it coming, everyone was like "lol idk what this is" in the first few seconds but then the inkling popped up and everyone collectively started losing it
Tbh every episode of yuri on ice was a “you had to be there” moment whenever it aired each week. And yeah the kiss was wild but the engagement? The post credit banquet photo montage? That was the real good shit. When we realized that the opening was slightly different each week too; that just enhanced the quasi religious experience we were all having. I went to a con the summer that followed and they were airing the first few episodes one night and everyone in the room was singing along. You really just had to be there, it was magical.
Remember the week after the episode, where Yuri told Viktor that he'd give him "something round and gold" for Christmas? Remember how we all joked and argued that it couldn't possibly be a ring, he was totally just talking about a gold medal? Remember the absolute rapturous freak-out that happened, when it turned out to actually be a ring??? I do, and it will live rent-free in my head forever. That was when the YOI fandom peaked, if you ask me.
Goncharov (1973) is an incredible masterpiece that must never be forgotten. I still remember sitting in the theater with my bucket of popcorn, crying my eyes out. It was beautiful and soul crushing. I'll never forget it for as long as I live.
omg goncharov had so many fantastic scenes- i saw a post examining the clock symbolism throughout the film and it was absolutely stunning. a beautiful metaphor in such a touching story.
I remember my mother took four year old me to the opening night of Goncharov because she thought it was a family friendly action film. We ended up leaving half way through because Ice Pick Joe terrified me.
The time the Sherlock BBC fandom hated the finale episode so much that the entire fandom was half convinced it was a fake episode and had so many conspiracy theories about when the real one would come out. Or the time Merlin and Arthur embraced in BBC Merlin and the whole fandom changed its profile pic to that scene :D Also more recently, Taika Waititi’s dads on tour
I wasn't even super into the show, But really that was disappointing. Even Moriarty appearance in flashback couldn't save it. Now I just prefer the CBS's Elementary over BBC Sherlock.
I was a couple of years late to the hype period of sherlock but even I genuinely wished there was a way better ending, it jyst went downhill for the later seasons
For me, the most hype/drama I’ve experienced in my fandoms was Twilight Sparkle getting her wings getting leaked through a photo of some kind of toy expo. Literally had people denying that the photos were real or saying it was some kind of printing error, like some random intern assumed that Twilight would have wings cause she’s from the magic unicorn pony show.
i'm sorry it got leaked? i joined the brony fandom after twilight got wings (s4) and never really understood the giant drama over it... that sounds crazy tbh
@@jordanenby9734Yeah there was some merch discovered in QNA backgrounds and not yet released toys and posters that showcased Twilight with wings that was leaked onto Twitter and other sites (mostly Equestria Daily, DeviantART, and Derpibooru). I was only 12 when it happened so I didn’t pay much attention to the leaks themselves (esp since I wanted to go spoiler free) but literally whenever people dared to hint that this may show that she was going to be an alicorn you’d be eaten alive lmao The biggest counter-theory I recall seeing at the time was that it was either just an animation error, or was a perfected version of the wing spell Twilight used on Rarity during the episode “Sonic Rainboom”. In hindsight it was pretty clear that they weren’t going to make merch based solely on either of those, but people were so in denial that even when Alicorn!Twi was explicitly canon people still refused to believe it 💀
@@jordanenby9734yeah, I remember hearing about that! Apparently after the episode came out the creators were expressing how mad they were that they had to do damage control (aka lying about it being a printing error) because Hasbro displayed it during toy fair a.k.a. the biggest toy expo at the time.
I'll never forget when Twisted Wonderland (Disney game done by Black Butler's mangaka) was first announced and there was that one tweet going around calling it a dating sim and Kalim "Twink Iago" 😭😭
a big moment in the DSMP fandom was probably on January 6 when major lore was happening and a lot of people were watching it like at some point Technoblades viewership peaked at over 600,000 live viewers, and when the lore ended and everyone went on Twitter to talk about it, they instead found out that the USA White House was being stormed
@@ashleyburning1087 I feel that The Owl House has bigger beef with Disney over their Season 3 than Amphibia does. But the early release of "True Colors" followed by the rug-pull was not nice in the slightest.
@@normanclatcher Yeah I agree TOH fandom has way more beef with Disney when it came to that. I’m just saying at the time, Disney telling us that they had to postpone the episode from when it was originally supposed to air, then getting leaked. At the time it was messed up.
I’m surprised that the Lumity on-screen kiss wasn’t its own feature in this video. I cannot understate just how wild everyone got when that actually happened.
@@rosykindbunny1313 How though? The cheek kiss was in July 2021, and the actual kiss was in May 2022. Wax museum was in S2A of Amphibia, which had already aired in 2020.
My iconic fandom moments: - The Ninjago Redesigns - LMK switching animation studios - Every time a Life Series installment ends and we get a new Winner - Hermitcraft s8’s finale - the ATUS fanfic in the Hermitcraft fandom - Peacock leaking the last half of Ninjago s17(though Ninjago gets leaked an awful lot-) - LMK s4’s release and the s4 finale’s release 5 months later - Empires SMP s1’s finale(I just bark got to witness it as I had just gotten into the SMP-) - the Hermitpires crossover
The return of MCR and then the out of nowhere drop of Foundations. There was just this wave of sheer joy. Seeing them live for the first time after thinking i would never get the chance was one of the best feelings i will probably ever experience in my life
OMG YESSSSS The reunion announcement came at the height of my MCR obsession and never before and never again have I felt such violent bliss over anything 🖤
honestly everything that happened on the dream smp fandom was insane but something you just HAD to be there for were the sad-ist animation uploads. everyone would change their layout to her art and redraw the best frames and it was just so fun and exciting, and lot of the content creators would react to them on stream too
YESS omg those were the best. and also every mcc that happened in 2021, each one was so memorable ESPECIALLY the one with Grian finally getting his first win with a 3v1 everyone went WILD
@@yvaineraphaelledupio7485 BRO I REMEMBER THAT WITH DETAIL I was actively rooting for grian on that finale. i didn't even watch him at the time ironically enough now I'm a heavy fruitninja enjoyer 💀
YES EXACTLY. that entire fandom era was absolutely wild but sad-ist was something elseee. january 2021 my friends and I lowkey started a cult on discord after the dawn of 16th drop and just like - man it was insane
Ford Reveal was insane, because Alex Heirsh, that madman, had ‘accidentally’ leaked a different character as the author of the books because people had guessed it, and WE ALL BOUGHT IT. I was so surprised when the reveal happened lmaoo
I REMEMBER THIS!!! He made a fake leak of McGugget writing the journals, and then that one episode with the Society of the Blind Eye came and completely threw that theory out the window just to keep fans on edge...and all of this started because there was a popular tumblr post spreading around about the "Twin Stans" theory. Fucking GLORIOUS I tell you!
Honestly, all of the Gravity Falls fandom theories were "you just had to be there," but god. God I still will *never* forgive my best friend for spoiling the author reveal 30 seconds before I saw it in real time bc my stream was about 30 seconds delayed from the TV broadcast. I called them after the episode to curse them out, lmao.
Yepp! While I wasn't there, I heard about this one fine day and went down the rabbit hole. Sure was wild! That, and the kid who found the Bill Cipher statue before the Cipher Hunt even began. (Again, wasn't in the fandom at the time, just more rabbit holes)
My best friend made her tumblr account literally the day before Destielputinelectionday, it was wild lmao. She went through the most insanely unhinged baptism of fire i could imagine someone going through on that site and it was so funny being there to witness it with her
Not a moment but as a member of the BSD fandom, I love the confusion we create by simply existing and talking about the characters It’s so great I thrive in the insanity
My therapist wants to hear about my interests and so I tried explaining BSD to her, and her look of confusion just became more and more intense. I had to explain Dazai to a fucking therapist.
I’m surprised Gorrilaz didn’t make an appearance. They’re such a phenomenon, defined the last two decades of music, AND are an animated band. They have STORY ARCS, some of which people lost their MINDS over.
My biggest “you had to be there” moment was when all of us pokémon fans literally went insane when Ash won the alola league! Throughout all the anime he’d never won so it was a huuuge shock.
An honorable mention should also be X and Y's Kalos league! Ash had the best team he ever had at that point and I remember everyone talking about how that was the one, he was going to finally win the pokemon league. It was like a whole irl sporting event where so many pokemon fans came together to see if he could actually do it the day it came out... only for him to fail again 😅 I remember a lot of people thinking that there was no way he would ever win a league if he couldn't win that one, only for him to be able to win the alola league a few years later.
Not only the day Club Penguin was shut down, BUT ALSO when Club Penguin Rewritten was shut down. The first one is kinda obvious, but the second was super significant because most of the playerbase were dedicated fans of the original game who just wanted to keep the magic alive
The moment during Sonic's 30th Anniversary concert when everyone on the live stream chat was singing Live and Learn from Sonic Adventure 2 will live with me forever. A moment of unity for the fandom.
I remember watching that livestream and once Live and Learn started the chat just EXPLODED. I also remember SCREAMING when NateWantstoBattle made an appearance singing to a couple of the songs as well (been listening his music since middle school)
Got a few: 1) I will never forget the FNAF security breach tiktok era. It truly was something with people making their own OCs, thirsting after the *literal animatronics* and the sudden renaissance of the FNAF fandom that happened because of it 2) The hype for Infinity War. Probably the most united the MCU fandom has been, especially after CA:CW 3) The campaign to avoid Endgame spoilers when it first released in cinemas was wild and generally just the hype for that movie was insane 4) *THE BABYGIRLIFICATION OF LITERALLY EVERY CHARACTER FROM MW2.* I LOVE IT SO MUCH. IT IS SO DEAR TO ME. THE WAR CRIMINALS FROM THE MILITARY PROPAGANDA GAME TRULY ARE SO BABYGIRL
That last one was especially kind of weird if you grew up during MW2(2009)'s lifespan, where Ghost was considered the manliest of men, and every dude who wanted to be in the military loved Ghost. They doubled down on his masculinity in the reboot timeline with his gravelly voice and muscles but that made him more appealing for babygirlification. It's weird
Dracula Daily was something you had to be there for. Bunch of fandom nerds reading Dracula (1897) very slowly, making a bunch of memes & proving JonMina supremacy. It was great.
The first few weeks with the memes juxtaposing "oh my dear Mina, I must tell you about my three proposals!" with "I'm trapped in this castle and I saw a child get eaten" were amazing, I loved the early fanart.
YES. And the Hellfire/Holy Water scene; IDK how y’all reacted initially to Episode 6 (I joined the fandom a few months ago), but I know it aged really well.
I joined Tumblr right after the mishapocalypse. I emerged on the rubble of a time past. Hearing stories from survivors. Seeing remnants of what once was. I never experienced it, but I felt the ramifications nonetheless

If you're in the Good Omens fandom, you might remember the cursed tv script that got leaked from a failed attempt at adapting GO into a tv show (Before the Prime version). I remember it being everywhere in the fandom, but it's rarely talked about these days.
The thing I remember most about korrasami is that one "we gonna be popping bottles when makorra happens in the finale tomorrow" post. My favourite "you had to be there" fandom moment was when the adult versions of the protagonist and rival of the first Pokémon games were revealed to be on vacation in the Hawaii-based region games. Longtime shippers rejoiced.
11:41 Ooh! I think I know this one. So for context, vocaloids will say "Sega" in vocaloid games when you boot it up. So someone decided to make the vocaloids say "Sega" but tune them their own way. And Kaito (the blue hair one in the picture) was (for some reason) tuned up to a really high note at the "-a" of sega. Like, it was practically a whistle note that Ariana grande would do (this is important). So it blew up that the voice provider for Kaito quote rt it, praising the tuning (also, side note: the voice provider loves Kaito so much. He has so many figurines of him. He also refers to Kaito as his son lol). But it also led to "Kaito Grande" and a cover of Kaito singing "God is a Woman"
Bungo Stray Dogs making two whole cameos in this video gives me LIFE. The first one mentioned, where Dazai basically confesses his love to Chuuya only to proceed to drown him, absolutely broke me and I still haven’t recovered
@@Doris-gf4hb Sadly no, but I do think that admitting to thinking about someone every day for seven years and then having a whole montage of your precious memories together in your head is kinda gay, so feel free to interpret that however you want lol
1. That time they released the Ice Adolescence trailer (still waiting for it) 2. Every time AO3 is down. 3. That wolf of Puss in Boots 4. Dale Zelda Dale by Ganon Rosario
Omg every time Ao3 goes down it’s just “does anyone know why this is happening” “is anyone else getting this” “AO3 IS DOWN” “am I the only one???” The DDOS attack made ao3 spaces a hell scape of the same question
as a xiaoven shipper you just had to be there when the "Endless Suffering" Xiao trailer dropped. for context xiaoven is a ship where the two people only have one canon in game interaction so it's no surprise that the moment I finished watching it I immediately went to twitter and Tumblr to see just a massive FLOOD of xiaoven shippers screaming as well.
adding as well that there's one part where Xiao says "Tonight, I just want to rest" WHICH MEANS they REGULARLY MEET AND HAVE DRINKS AT WANGSHU INN. which is a beloved cliche plot in the xiaoven fic community.
HAHA YEAH, also I still remember the first XiaoVen insanity moment when the "Yakshas: The Guardian Adepti" teaser was posted and Venti appeared for like 5 seconds. XiaoVen was originally a rarepair and the reveal that they'd actually interacted made the OG shippers lose their minds and also got a lot of new people (including me) into the ship
I’m not a xiaoven shipper myself but the endless suffering trailer also made me lose my mind and i knew that the xiaoven shippers would have a field day over the ending. In short for any xiao lover it was a great day

the absolute insanity of the my chemical romance 2022 tour, very specifically when gerard stepped on stage in a cheerleader dress for the first time. i dont think ive ever seen a fandom flip out like that and i was there for superputinelection
"Oh hello... are you still listening?" Most insane fandom moment I've experienced, possibly after November 5th. One 20-second episode drops and the entire TMA (The Magnus Archives) fandom just dissolves into frantic screaming and even more frantic theorizing
I remember tumblr going wild for the "live reaction slug" meme (i think it was from star wars) like somewhere early-mid last year. It was everywhere, you couldn't escape it
Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons was... certainly a time to be alive and kicking in the fandom space. There was... SO much shipping... so much...... (Also, the HtTyD2 teaser trailer reveal made so many girls freak the f- out.)
Reading that first sentence gave me whiplash...what a time. Still trips me up that one of the best fanfics I've read was a RotBTD Hogwarts crossover AU 😭
Ok wow this comment just bitchslapped me in the face with nostalgia twofold. That damned crossover was how I got into fanfics and fandoms in the first place, and I still haven’t climbed out of that hole over a decade later.
oh man i loved browsing throug h all the fanart of deviantart. it was such a fun cross over idea. yeah the HTTYD 2 teaser trailer. good stuff. the reactions man xD... man i must have watched it daily for like a week straight.

The time all of mcyttwt got together to call out a bunch of content creators after it was leaked that they were all attending a party in the middle of the pandemic. It was crazy, Wilbur Soot went live right after to do damage control and the whole chat was finding creative ways to try to ask him what happened because he had banned words like mask and party from his chat, and everyone came together and photoshopped masks onto their twitter pfps
I was expecting some MCYT/DSMP stuff to be mentioned here, and this is the first thing I see about it. 💀 When I think of "Had to be there" moments, November 16th, Doomsday, Tommy's death, Wilbur's revival... those come to mind instead. I honestly completely forgot that whole controversy happened lmao 😳
The kny fandom collapsed in itself when Douma made his 5 second serve because virtually every single fan from under the sun had been manifesting Mamoru Miyano as his VA for years and no one could believe they actually casted him. And to put a cherry on top, he finally beat the blonde allegations putting the debate to rest (like, people got VIOLENT over wether he had blonde or silver hair). An honorable mention for when chp.180 dropped and the fandom entered its pure despair era and everyone had the emo kaneki pfp.
The most insane moment in the project sekai fandom is when they had a typo and the wonderland x showtime logo didn’t have the x during an event and everyone was crying saying they broke up and stopped being friends until the creators made a massive announcement saying it’s a typo
I think one of the “you had to be there moments” in a lot of fandoms, is when an idea/ character is so excepted and universally loved in Fannon that the creator of the show go like “oh yah let’s do that”. Such as miraculous ladybug when chat Blanc got an episode, the cameo of daybreaker in mlp, and *OWL HOUSE SPOILER* freaking string bean being EVERYONES headcannon of luz’s palisman in the owl house! The vocaloid one is related to how characters in rhythm games say the company's name during the opening of the game. There's a compilation of the vocaloids saying "Sega". Kaito's Sega usually went into a really high note. Sometimes leading into the chorus of God is a Woman (?). Either way Kaito fans went WILD
For those not in the know, 6:11 is from a Thai girls love series called GAP, it's totally free and has English subs on youtube through the production studio's channel, that clip is in episode 5 part 3 (the episodes for Thai series on youtube are always split into 4-5 parts to maximize ad revenue). I believe it was the first Thai GL, or at least the first one available internationally, and they HARDCORE pushed the lead actresses as a shipped couple, like almost harder than most BLs. I think they're even doing international fan meets. Because of its status at the first thai GL, easy accessibility to intl fans, stunning cast, and the smart ship-oriented marketing, the series kind of blew up. While the dynamics of the characters are slightly different by nature of them being women, the plot and fanservice moments in the show are pretty much identical to most live action BL, like to the point where you could almost recast it with boys and it would be pretty much identical. Which might be another reason it blew up with long-time BL fans and I find it fascinating. www.youtube.com/@IDOLFACTORY

This but the Good Omens fandom. Nobody ever expected a season 2 even tho some wished for it. The whole fandom lost their collective shit when they dropped the poster
Today was an extension of that. The fandom assumed a s2 trailer would drop because of a few cast members being at a con right now Needless to say, we’re still waiting. (We did get confirmation that “Stede becomes a man” in s2 thanks to the panel at that con though, and the reaction to that will probably become a “you had to be there” moment in itself.)
Fun fact, the person who originally took the photos was not the person who tried to blackmail the studio. They actually complied and took the photos off their socials, but by that point they had already spread. Someone else posted them and then pulled the blackmail stunt
That one time in the Splatoon fandom after Splatoon 3 was announced. For the NieR Automata one, someone posted on Reddit asking how to get into the church under the Copied City and then for like a week straight after a video was posted, the entire fandom lost their minds with even the creator of the game chipping in to fuel the fire. If you were or are a fan of Brandon Sanderson, March 2022 will be a time that lives in your brain forever. For those unaware, Brandon Sanderson is a fantasy author most renowned for creating the Cosmere, an interconnected universe in which the majority of his non-ya books take place. As an author, he's somewhat unique, due to his transparency with readers about what projects he's working on, even going so far as to post weekly update videos on RUclips, giving an overview of what he worked on the previous week. One of these weekly updates took the fandom by storm at the beginning of March 2022. In said update, Brandon looked tired, even a little unwell. He announced that there would be a special video dropping the next day, outright saying "watch this, it will be important." Over the course of the next 24 hours the fandom went insane. We were concerned for his health, and assumed the announcement would have to do with needing to cut back on how much he was doing. The next day, the video dropped, entitled "It's time to come clean". After opening the video like a freaking RUclipsr apology video, he revealed that his 'irresponsible actions' had been writing 4 extra novels without telling anyone. And he was kick-starting them as a form of preordering, hoping to send them out quarterly the following year (which is now this year) while keeping all details about the novels secret for those who wanted no info. Within 24 hours, it had become the highest funded Kickstarter campaign of all time. Over the course of the month he released preview chapters for each novel for those who wanted to read them, each one dropping reveals that had the whole fandom going wild. And at the conclusion of the month, he dropped a reading of the first draft of the prologue for Stormlight 5, which was singlehandedly one of the single most anticipated chapters of any of his upcoming works. You really did just have to be there.
That was the finale of my little pony. Friendship is magic, and it was the best and saddest day in the fandom. I remember it well, we had nine seasons With these characters we saw them grow through as much trauma as you can go through in a Y7 cartoon, but it wasn’t really about the characters that made it the best and saddest day it was the fans. at least for me. it was realizing that my childhood had come to an end with the show ending I was nine when the show started back in 2010 and the show ended the year I turned 18 so it’s gonna sound weird but these little ponies shaped me into the woman I am today. Also, that screenshot is very poignant, because that is the last shot of the main characters in the entire show, and the show started with a book opening talking about the lore of the world and it ends With the book closing
i keep putting off the last season cause it was my first fandom ever and i just have such fond, nostalgic feelings that i don't wanna see end. i miss it sm
Hearing my little ponys because referenced to as a Fandom always makes me do a double take because of how much I loved the show as a kid and was sheltered from online spaces 😅🤣
As someone who was on tumblr through the _entire_ election disaster, I still have flashbacks to the Destiel-MHA-election one-two punch. Also, and I can’t believe it wasn’t here - not touching the fandom with a 39 1/2 ft. pole but the Dream face reveal literally broke half of Twitter.
I saw it and was like 'nope' and pretended it didn't happen (For context he looked like a person I know irl who was in my school class and got expelled for threats towards the class, attacking a teacher and calling me slurs)

When the Animaniacs came back at the end of 2020. It was a truly nostalgic moment for everyone. Also, just last month when Owl House's newest episode got leaked in full two weeks before airing.
My Smash Ultimate moment was not the Sora reveal, it was the very first trailer, when they were listing the returning characters one by one starting with the more obvious cast until Snake (my own ex Brawl main), who was not there last game, got revealed with a pause in the soundtrack and the most hype statement I've ever seen in a live trailer EVERYONE IS HERE
The day that Sans was announced for Smash surely went down in Undertale (and Smash Bros) Fandom History. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Also, the day Infinity Train was officially canceled was the day a part of me died, and the rest of the fandom will understand. And possibly my favorite, the Animal Jam Duck Raid. It was wild, and I'm still not convinced I didn't actually dream the whole thing. It's exactly what it sounds like.
Context for "The Burning of Alexandria Library" at 15:33 The game franchise of Ensemble Stars used to be only in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. There were many English fans, though, and the fandom wiki for the game had tons of translations for story events. The wiki made it possible for tons of people who wouldn't have understood anything about the story get into the game. But then around August to September of 2021 the company, Happy Elements, who made Ensemble Stars decided to randomly demand all translations on the wiki be removed and deleted as it technically went against their terms of service. It may not seem like a big deal, but the wiki was hosting the translations for YEAR. By the time this happened the game franchise as a whole had been out for around 6 years, and only then did they randomly decide to take action. I was there during it and everyone was freaking out trying to archive all of the translations. I personally was theorizing that maybe they did that all of a sudden because they were working on an extremely late English release of the game. Later that year in December, I was proven correct, as they announced the English version of the game that later came out in Spring of 2022. But either way, the fans were confused, distressed, and pissed off by that all. Thank goodness we're getting actual in game translations now, but it still sucked for all of the translations from stories from 2019 and before that aren't in the new version of the game in which the English version is about.

SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO THE FIREY LEAFY BOAT SCENE FROM THE BFB FINALE Also from another show, but the moment Inanimate Insanity dropped the Taco reveal on us back in Season 1, as well as the Paintbrush coming out as nonbinary (both their initial reveal, but later on in s3 where they just outright say the words to Yang), those are utterly cemented in my brain as certified Iconic Object Show Moments
Goncharov. No idea if that counts as a fandom moment but yeah-goncharov. For a fandom moment, I’d say Maidtyn Monday- my dash was filled with so many maid outfits, all to scare away the CC that had joined only to backfire as he went to like every one of them. It spawned the tradition drawing any mcyt CC that just joined tumblr in a maid dress
Some of my favorites in recent history: -May 15th Catradora kiss -Every time anything happened with info on Our Flag Means Death season 2 -What We Do in the Shadows s4 finale. We went wild over that ending (although we had done that like every previous season too)
The mishapoclypse was such an important event for me because it was only a couple years after a close friend passed and that was the first time I made it through the day with no issue. I loved it and being a part of it, and nothing on tumblr could ever compare to it again. Also the klance stuff was so intense, it made me avoid any main fandom stuff XD I enjoyed voltron, quietly on my own lmao sometimes you jsut don't want to engage.
a iconic fandom moment is probably when hollow mind came out, the owl house fandom still hasnt recovered to this day. i remember sitting in my basement watching it as it was airing, it confirmed so many theories had people had been coming up with for a long time.
I remember when Hollow Mind aired and I was screaming when it was confirmed that Hunter was a grimwalker. I miss the analysis posts dedicated to the entire episode, wish they weren't completely buried now
@@Ghost5O5 omg YEAH!!!! my friend was one of those ppl who were super convinced that the whole theory wasn't true even after elsewhere and elsewhen's ending and we were on vc when it happened, it was CRAZY. i think u could still find a few of those posts on pintrest though!!!! or maybe go through the "hollow mind spoilers" tag on tumblr?
A 'ya just had to be there' moment for me was in the Five Nights at Freddy's fandom. Multiple things, actually -William Afton's Death -FNaF World reaction -Sister Location trailer -The first Security Breach trailer -Henry's Speech -Help Wanted's announcement -Fredbear and the bite -Dawko beating 50/20 SO many things
Another moment is all the “Fnaf Movie rip-offs” that released before the actual movie. The three being The Hug (a short film), The Banana Splits Movie, and Willy’s Wonderland. Besides the Hug, they were alright and literally gave us some substance. Another moment is all the reports about Chuck E Cheese that came out around 2020-2021 with claims of kids going missing and the animatronics moving at night on their own.
the fact that the Dream SMP's November 16th with the destruction of L'manberg, Philza's introduction, and Wilbur's death DIDN'T make it in here is honestly shocking XD
i feel like i have to explain the burning of alexandria library thing!! it's bc up to that point in the ensemble stars fandom the wiki was literally the wikipedia for the entire fandom, a lot of stories (fan-translated) were hosted there and that was *the* place to go to if there was a enstars story u wanted to read. there was no international server for the game yet so that was the only place where international fans could read the stories. in early 2021 the company requested for all fan-translations to be taken down from the wiki for reasons we didn't know at the time. afterwards it was revealed that there was going to be a global server for the game with english localisation which was most probably the reason behind the takedown (bc if u could already read the stories online, why would u need to play the game)
I have a few “you just had to be there” moments : - Dana announcing season 3 for the Owl House - When Raine Whispers was introduced. It was a good day for the Non binary community :) - EVERYTHING that happened in the Dream SMP fandom during 2021 - Ofc when Sans won the tumblr sexyman competition at the exact time when the Queen died
For me its a tie between the Pink Diamond reveal, September 8th 2022 on tumblr, and The Magnus Protocol ARG. Yes, that last one was especially recent but between the wild speculation from a tweet of a single eye emoji, "themagnusarchivestwo" getting decoded, Fay Roberts' code running simultaneously while everyone is losing it, and the announcement of the October 30th livestream, it was a trip from start to end.
the pink diamond reveal was INSANE! i saw rose shift into pink and my jaw DROPPED and i lost my mind! my poor grandpa thought I was crazy XD I remember yelling "THE ROSE QUARTZ IS PINK THEORISTS WE'RE RIGHT THE WHOLE TIME?!" those poor ppl got ragged on for years and called delusional. kinda glad they got proven right in the end tbh
I wasn’t in this fandom, but I definitely bore witness to it in the sidelines. I personally thought it was a ‘You had to be there’ moment because of how much chaos there was. Creepshow Art. I remember when for me, the whole thing suddenly BLEW UP overnight. I thought it It was a huge thing in the art community/art commentary community. But may not have been talked outside beyond that. Images surfacing, many well known and non-well known RUclipsrs trying to get their piece of the pie in covering the topic. RUclipsrs making memes, apology videos, reveals, side taking. This was a big deal in the art community, because Creepshow was pretty well known. Everyone seemed to love her. She would tell stories of the crazy thing she been through. But The main reason for this drama, was because it was revealed she had been a total stalker to another Artist she actually knew in real life, Emily Artful. From what I heard, CA would emotionally torture Emily and make her suffer. Other things too. And as another Drama connected to this, Creepshow Art dunked on another artist called ‘Hopeless Peaches’ and soon, it was like everyone was also dunking on her. Even the RUclipsrs who got thought you trusted, was also covering this topic or implying to take sides. Then when it was revealed that Peaches was innocent, everyone was apologizing. Haven’t heard anything about the drama. Which I’m kind of glad by.

@@tavoiradio7667 that is true, it's just that the whole "this time it's the queer fans insisting it's a mistranslation" was a common joke I saw at the time

For me, the most hype/drama I’ve experienced in my fandoms was Twilight Sparkle getting her wings getting leaked through a photo of some kind of toy expo. i'm sorry it got leaked? i joined the brony fandom after twilight got wings (s4) and never really understood the giant drama over it... that sounds crazy tbh
@@jordanenby9734Yeah there was some merch discovered in QNA backgrounds and not yet released toys and posters that showcased Twilight with wings that was leaked onto Twitter and other sites (mostly Equestria Daily, DeviantART, and Derpibooru). I was only 12 when it happened so I didn’t pay much attention to the leaks themselves (esp since I wanted to go spoiler free) but literally whenever people dared to hint that this may show that she was going to be an alicorn you’d be eaten alive lmao
The biggest counter-theory I recall seeing at the time was that it was either just an animation error, or was a perfected version of the wing spell Twilight used on Rarity during the episode “Sonic Rainboom”. In hindsight it was pretty clear that they weren’t going to make merch based solely on either of those, but people were so in denial that even when Alicorn!Twi was explicitly canon people still refused to believe it 💀
@@jordanenby9734yeah, I remember hearing about that!

Ooh!
That's a Beyonce song?

as a xiaoven shipper you just had to be there when the "Endless Suffering" Xiao trailer dropped. for context xiaoven is a ship where the two people only have one canon in game interaction so it's no surprise that the moment I finished watching it I immediately went to twitter and Tumblr to see just a massive FLOOD of xiaoven shippers screaming as well.
adding as well that there's one part where Xiao says "Tonight, I just want to rest" WHICH MEANS they REGULARLY MEET AND HAVE DRINKS AT WANGSHU INN. which is a beloved cliche plot in the xiaoven fic community.

This but the Good Omens fandom. Nobody ever expected a season 2 even tho some wished for it. The whole fandom lost their collective shit when they dropped the poster

That time a Klance fan went to the studio, took behind the scenes photos, and then tried to blackmail the studio with them to make Klance canon.
Fun fact, the person who originally took the photos was not the person who tried to blackmail the studio. They actually complied and took the photos off their socials, but by that point they had already spread. Someone else posted them and then pulled the blackmail stunt

The game franchise of Ensemble Stars used to be only in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.
Thank goodness we're getting actual in game translations now, but it still sucked for all of the translations from stories from 2019 and before that aren't in the new version of the game in which the English version is about.

i feel like i have to explain the burning of alexandria library thing!! it's bc up to that point in the ensemble stars fandom the wiki was literally the wikipedia for the entire fandom, a lot of stories (fan-translated) were hosted there and that was *the* place to go to if there was a enstars story u wanted to read. there was no international server for the game yet so that was the only place where international fans could read the stories. in early 2021 the company requested for all fan-translations to be taken down from the wiki for reasons we didn't know at the time. afterwards it was revealed that there was going to be a global server for the game with english localisation which was most probably the reason behind the takedown (bc if u could already read the stories online, why would u need to play the game)
