This is why I love the Wish “fandom”. It’s so creative and takes something that had so much potential and actually give it the potential is deserved. I loved this rewrite
@@tinybrained475 I made it using the Mega Fantasy Avatar Creator game by Rinmaru Games. All her games are on Doll Divine now. Highly recommend if you like creating fantasy OCs :)
i saw this comment on a video where an artist redesigned the wish characters and it suggested that since the original star didnt speak, star boy could also be non verbal and speak in sign language. they also added that the star's signing could get messier and more frantic the more emotion he gets.
the idea of Starboy brushing his hair with the fork as a reference to the little mermaid just made me start clapping, thats a perfect way to use a proper reference to an old disney movie!
One small suggestion; when Asha hits starboy with the broom, the star magic should make the broom move around like a person, to reference the Sorcerer's apprentice.
That and maybe the magic would go to the candle that Asha previously blew out that was a reference to Encanto, and made the candle dance like the candle in beauty and the beast. I forgot that candles name since i never watched beauty and the beast myself
I actually thought this movie was going to be about wants vs needs. Like, the King understood this and Asha was the one that had to learn that wishes aren't always smart or good.
That would be a great theme. Life isn't fair and we don't always get what we want. So be happy with what you do have. Or perhaps make it a theme of what we want isn't nearly as good as we think it will be. So be careful what you wish for.
I think a happy medium is great. Imagine this; The King started off granting all the wishes and as he does he realizes he doesnt have enough magic to grant all the wishes. So he starts picking and choosing, but there's unrest so what does he do? He makes it so that you forget your wishes after telling them. As the years go by his hunger for power grows and he slowly becomes the villian he is. He makes sure to sparingly grant wishes to placate the people. Not sure how to write the Queen into this but I imagine shes a ride-or-die and a great strategist. Asha and Starboy bond over their belief that Wishes should be granted, however throughout the movie they see that Star recklessley granting wishes causes chaos. This causes a bit of a confusion for Asha and Star as it challeges their views but they learn that not all wishes need magic intervention.
The only way I can see is that there is literally no one (with any sense of creativity) at the wheel, just some weird AI statistics machine run through a Hollywood legal-HR department. They sucked the creativity out of it, then left us with characters/references/motivations that were incredibly lazy & made no sense.
in regards to scooby doo mystery incorporated, we actually have a good example of that between brad and judy. I feel like we could do a lot basing them off that. like, they both love two things: each other, AND POWEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Cool. One idea- instead of Ashe accidentally killing the queen, maybe you could make Magnifico be part of the battle and accidentally kill the queen in the crossfire. That was it's not Ashe's fault, and you could use it as a reference to Ursula killing Flotsam and Jetsam in The Little Mermaid.
I cant stop feeling like the whole idea of the queen should be an entirely different aspect in the movie though!! wouldnt it be interesting to see the queen be somewhat a neutral force, questioning whether she should be supporting her husband and his ambitions for her unconditional love her him. it would be interesting that instead of her getting killed, she would get turned evil at the moment she gets struck during the battle by Magnifico's magic, turning her into the Evil Queen making it a logical set-up towards the Snow White story eventually as she and the mirror are together for a reason and she wants to rule the kingdom again someday for revenge.
i have an idea for the goat: Valentino was actually the king's former apprentice, but he was cursed by Magnifico for speaking out against him. When Valentino gets his voice back, he has an identity crisis because his memory was wiped. At the end of the movie, he gets transformed back into a human by a kiss from the star boy (to reference Princess and The Frog)
Hm... Someone working on a royal position being turned into a domestic animal and then turning back at the end of the movie... I guess you could also (kinda) see this as an Emperor's New Groove Reference
Can we start using the term "anti-fandom" to refer to all the franchises that generated a massive fan cult SPECIFICALLY to create better stories while making fun at the source material?
TVtrope would call fans who didn't actually read the story "fanwork-only fans". This fits better than "hatedom" since the consensus everyone seemingly has is not "wow I hate this" but rather "man this could have been so much better!"
literally most of the miraculous lady bug fandom! (from what I've heard) Honestly, is it just me or is it more upsetting to see a movie that had so much potential end up being bad than a movie that was doomed from the start? :(
Yh i hestitated before watching this because i havent watched the original, just video essays about it. But eh who cares i very much enjoyed this video, i might go on ao3 and read more rewrites of the story.
OH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED WHY DIDNT THEY HAVE THE GRANDFATHER LOOK LIKE WALT DISNEY!?!?!?!?! His wish even fits already! Or you could change it to something more accurate to the real Walt like “I wish to promote that childlike wonder in all of us” or “I wish to bring joy to the world through art and story telling”. He could even have a tiny mouse sidekick 🥺 And maybe have some ducks and dogs. And he tries to be a wingman for his little mouse when it tries to go flirt with a girl mouse 🥺
All Disney had to do was write the damn thing themselves. Now we have Adam Sandler writing the best last-ish movie of 2023. By the way, good on him for writing and acting in said masterpiece along with Smigel and Paul Sado. Excellent work. Now, all we have to do is wait for Disney to fuck up a lot more, and more independent movies can get into the spotlight.
@@Skiig you know what? Yeah you’re right on both movies you mentioned. I’m just bitter and jaded from all this crap. Bob Iger was right. Don’t have a message (at least don’t have it be your main focus), and make movies to entertain. Stick to having messages in non-fiction books all you want, because at this point, if they don’t liven up, they won’t ever be able to make a movie with a message like this (or any movie for that matter) without shoving a message in your face. Okay, I don’t really think that outright. I’m just bitter because they could have just made the Studio Movie the 100th movie and focused more on the girls in that movie.
Honestly- I wished they went with the other previous designs Asha had with her hair being shorter and or curly,, the braids just seemed like an easy way out to animate
They wanted the effect of having straight hair while maintaining the appearance of diversity by giving her braids without knowing how they really work. It's like how remake Ariel had locs, but soaking wet locs are actually extremely heavy. I chalk it up to like how women wake up in movies with their makeup already on.
It’s crazy how all of the fan animations and rewritten stories blow me away including this and and are all better than Disney’s version by far….. Man we could bully Disney into rewriting the story entirely
Tons of artists at Disney are talented but all their work gets watered down cuz of the executives :’( I’d really like to see an indie animated project of the Wish rewrite come into spark..

*Another Idea for ending,* in the fight between Star and Magnifico, Mag's magic could of been deflected in one of the scenes resulting in Mag accidentally killing or freezing his own wife. He would be distracted for a moment, overwhelmed by shock and a bit self reflection. Asha would try to reason with him, but he is too far gone and tries to take his anger out on Asha, this is where Star flies in to protect her but gets seriously injured. That injury causes an explosion of star dust and light, drawling in the citizens to the commotion. They get covered in the dust and are immuned to his manipulation and temporarily have powers, which they start questioning Mag and riot against him, either killing, arresting or banishing him. That's when Asha does to the broken Star, and Wishes for him to be alright. The other citizens begin to join her and the Star starts to glow, he takes his human form briefly and they have a moment. And he tells her that even if he must go, he is never truly gone as if she's ever lonely or needs someone to listen to he is always a Star in the night sky. Like the quote from The Little Prince "In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night. You only you will have stars that can laugh"
i'm imagining a classic fakeout death scene, like this: while magnifico is sobbing next to whatever he turned his wife into, star boy falls to the ground, fatally injured. asha goes to grab and hold him, and she rolls him onto his back so he can see the night sky. the moon is new, so it's full of stars. beautiful. starboy says something like "hah, at least i get to see my friends again..." and starts thanking asha for everything because he's the embodiment of joy and light and positivity or something, and then asha starts crying over him as he slowly goes limp- but then, as you suggest, the whole kingdom starts wishing for him to he okay, and then it works. and then either they have their heartfelt bittersweet goodbye scene or "it's not goodbye forever, i'll come back to grant the wishes of rosas every once in a while" and then the movie ends with a bunch of wholesome scenes and everyone is happy. yaaaaay 🎉

One small edit on top of your edits: I think it would be good if the captured wishes were actually stars. Then they can have this paraell with Asha wanting to help save her people, and Star wanting to help save his, and both valuing what the other person wants, or wishing for what's good for the other person moreover, over simply being together. I think if the captured wishes are also captured stars imprisoned in bubbles, ones who presumably fell to earth to grant the wishes they heard and were never able to carry out their purpose, it also makes Magnifico more evil. Which is a plus.
@@petthepirate3115 Please do. Thank you for liking my idea--let me talk about it more 🥺 So one thing that I feel like all good children's movies need is something that invites imaginative play. When you're playing make believe with your friends, or your dolls, or whatever it is, just /something/ that grabs you and makes you want to repeat that over and over. Ideally, I feel like the best Disney movies also tie that magical idea to an object that is, again, really enticing for play. With Ariel, Ursula had that conch shell and I'd touch one and pretend I lost my voice. Beauty & the Beast, I thought about that every time I saw a rose, and I used to like to watch one wither and die in my room. With Peter Pan, sparkles = pixie dust, and flashlights = pixies. Yes, I believed in faeries and would proudly proclaim that to anyone who asked. With Cinderella, it was obviously the slipper, and so on and so forth. I feel like the stars could've been that. If I were writing "star lore" for this movie, there are over 300 billion trillion stars in the sky; there have only been 199 billion people to ever exist on planet earth. Quite literally, there are more than enough stars in the sky for /everyone/ to have one that's meant just for them. For everyone to have ONE STAR that's dedicated to making their wish come true. I'd have thought that was SO MAGICAL as a kid! I'd have been looking up at the night sky wanting to talk to my star, and check in with them daily, and whisper my wishes. We also have to send a "good message" to kids though, and here's what I propose; every person has a Star, but their magic is only as powerful as the effort and dedication you put in. If you aren't working towards your dream, they loose the ability to see and hear you, and you loose the ability to see and hear them. Also, star wishes get genie rules (another reference); no bringing people back from the dead/curing terminal illness, and no making people fall in love with you. Even then, not all dreams come true, but that's not necessarily a bad, or a worthless thing; I feel like the movie was trying to have some commentary on intergenerational dreams, and how even if you can't do something for yourself, you can help the people you love achieve their goals. You can pass down your Star since they're always watching, and keep working to make it real generation through generation. Also, like with Asha's grandfather, with a lot of art the dream dream isn't sucsess, it's just /doing/ the thing and feeling inspired. I like how you made Asha's friend's wish to be best knight in the kingdom, because I think that would be a GREAT deconstruction of whether obtaining the goal or the journey matters more with wishes. Like, sure that's probably /literally/ what he wanted to do, but underneath that my guess would be that what he actually wanted was to help people, and to protect them, and to feel like he was contributing to something. Magnifico could pervert his wish by giving him what he /literally/ wants, but not what he was actually asking for in a way that enslaves him, and actually makes him act against his desires deep down. I also think that provides further reason why dreams are collected at 18; children have silly, unrealistic wishes. I wanted to be a mermaid when I was 7; obviously that isn't going to happen. But you know, as an adult that might turn into wanting to live by the sea, or be a marine biologist. So your wish/star needs time to "mature" like you do. And maybe that's a reason Magnifico gives people as to /why/ he has to guard the wishes; he's giving them time to "mature," and see if they're viable, but what he's not telling the people is that that happens naturally whether he's there or not. People also learn to form new dreams when old ones don't work out, so he's essentially infantilizing everyone in the kingdom from protecting them from "heartbreak" through not really letting them live, or try and fail for themselves. And of course, we /also/ know that he's draining the life of stars to power his magic, but they don't know that yet. Which, btw, can we have him give a /slightly/ better example as to why he doesn't grant all the wishes? Again, saying that some wishes are immature and impractical and wouldn't come true anyone and would just further hurt everyone in Rosa; that makes sense. That's a lie I can imagine people swallowing. Him being all "ah, your grandfather's wish isn't specific enough and might start a revolution" is leaping to so many conclusions. But yeah, that's my take on wishes. There are generally a lot of cool things and important lessons to learn with a concept like this, Disney just did not do any of that. And again, I LOVE the idea that Asha maybe falters at the end? Maybe she knows Star will have to go once he grants her wish to help everyone, and she doesn't want that because she loves him now. But also, her desire for him to be happy outweighs that; she wants /him/ to be able to help his family too. Magnifico can even taunt her with that; "I told you Asha, people make stupid, selfish wishes. You're the same, you're no better; help my dad, help my grandfather, help my (he looks at Star sneeringly) /friend/." Except she is different, she's not like him at all. Even if she's conflicted at the end of the day her heart does want what's best, and she proves that by simply trusting Star, and as you said, using him "well." Other tagalong ideas: - Disney is so married to the idea of twist villains, fine. Have Magifico's /wife/ be a twist villain. That actually might've been cool for once, to see her all innocent and sweet and helping Asha's friend's only to backstab then in Act IV like "lol did you really think I'd go against my husband? I love him, obviously. He's /my/ wish." -Asha's dad should've been an astronomer! Maybe he even theorized that stars were real before, and that's something he told Asha when she was little. She always thought he was just speaking metaphorically, but nope; turns out dad was one of the rare adults who could see stars for what they were because he never gave up on his dream that her life would be easier then theirs, and that she'd have more opportunities then he had. That's it, that's my essay. Thanks!
@@sawyerk641 I love your concepts with these! It's really beautiful. And you' re right about the pretend play. I completely forgotten all about that. I use to do that as a kid myself!
@@perrobang8925 I really do feel like that's a core element of modern Disney that's missing! Like, let's review from Zootopia. - Zootopia: people did like this movie, but what are kids supposed to play-pretend with it? Play-pretend racism? No thank you lol. - Moana: I don't think it's a coinsidence that this one was well recieved by most "disney fans." Pretending I can talk to the ocean as a child? Check. - Ralph Breaks the Internet: I'm supposed to play pretend... that I'm deconstructing a corporate empire? That I'm a video game character having a midlife crisis? That I'm a child /keeping/ an adult from having a midlife crisis? lol no. - Frozen II: I can understand why /kids/ would be enchanted by this one. The pacing was off for adults to enjoy, but there's still plenty to play pretend with here. - Raya: I guess you could play pretend with dragons? But frankly there's just a lot of media that does this fantasy far better. Namely, /How to Train Your Dragon/. - Encanto: I'm going to go out on a limb and say that while pretending everyone in your family has a super power /is/ fun, framing it through trauma and making Mirabelle special because she /doesn't/ have a power would've kind of put a damper on it for me as a kid. I'd understand if anyone disagreed with this assessment, I just feel like "magical rooms/house" is a little too vague for kids. Encanto is still a great film about family dynamics... family dynamics just aren't what I want to roleplay as a child. But that could just be me. - Strange World: haven't seen it so I can't comment but I did hear good things. - Wish: truly, what are kids supposed to imagine about this film? That stars are plushies? That animals can talk? Being a magicians apprentice? Except, Asha really isn't that at all, and the King is evil so again, not making magic very fun to me. Once again, I think so much of playtime (and Disney marketing, for that matter) is "this object does this thing when I'm playing", and the modern films are /really/ hit or miss with that. I think a lot of these films just wouldn't have appealed to me as much as a kid because I personally would've rather held my little crystal and pretended to be Kida from Atlantis, or brushed my hair and sung Mother Gothel's song, or tried on shinny shoes and acted like they fit perfectly and dressed up for a ball.
Disney's Magnifico made no sense. First he's a bit arrogant, but a very charming and a very reasonable man. Then he just loses his mind for no reason. I like both versions of him, but that shift came out of nowhere. Your version is so much better, because it has consistent characters, motivations and most importantly a set of clear rules. I loved it. I wish we got that (pun kind of intended)
That’s actually textbook narcissist. As long as people agree with or praise a narcissist they can be very charming and sweet, but the second someone doesn’t agree or takes attention and praise away from them they turn ugly real fast. They always see themselves as the hero and have an inability to admit wrongdoing. They will rewrite history even in there own mind to fit the “they are the hero everyone else is the problem” narrative.
@marin9611 That's very interesting. I think it' safe to say that that's what they were going for. I just wish they did it in a more cohesive way. For example you seem rather knowledgeable about this, I was not, I didn't know how narcissism manifested, so to me it was jarring, it made no sense. And if a movie relies on an outside knowledge to work, that's a problem. Mother Gothel is a perfect example of this done right. You don't have to know much about gaslighting, they show it.
@@andreamarin9611still failed because the king is actually reasonable. You may call him a narcissist but he may also just be protective of his creation and his kingdom and he wants people to respect him as a king not as a wish-granted tool. He's no way near a bad person in the movie. If Disney wanna create a false sense of utopia, they should follow "we happy few" game because otherwise in this movie setting, the king basically just gives everyone a free place to live happily with only the cost of their dreams and the dreams are shown not really affecting anyone.
@@childrensville.9110he really had more backstory than what they showed… I wanted to know about the taprestry… also wish makes for a good kingdom hearts worlds… as in the corrupted book can easily be a source of darkness. That essentially corrupted his weak and falliablw heart.
If Disney wanted to do a 100th anniversary with tons of classic nostalgia and magic, why, oh why, oh why, tell me why didn't they actually make The Scorcerers Aprentice into a movie, and finally give the people the Mickey Mouse movie they've been waiting for, for nearly A HUNDRED YEARS?
omg the Donald Mickey and Goofy reference rather than the seven dwarves is so cuteeee and a great way to pay homage to disneyʼs iconic history without having too many characters
A big issue I have is why Disney forgoed the grey message of "be careful what you wish for" (literally the tagline for the film). Plus it was a missed opportunity to base this film on "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and "The Fisherman and His Wife."
I love this re-write, but I'm STILL hankering for a rewrite where Asha is the Queen's daughter and Magnifico is her evil Stepfather, to pay homage to Lady Tremaine and the Evil Queen
You can be a princess without being related to loyalty or marrying into royalty. Like Mulan. I believe the metaphorical meaning of princess is a woman who is kind, brave, and performs acts of unselfish love and compassion for the people around her. There is more than one way to be a princess. Or more than one way to be a queen. That last one was inspired by LOL surprise
I though in the original drafts Starboy was mute if you kept this he could try to talk but it sounds like Tinkerbell chimes and then fall in love like how human Ariel did with Eric
Yo everyone 👋 About the King's song to calm everyone down, I kinda made it for the rewrite, with the chords. Titled "Trust in Me" or "Everything Will Be Alright" if you want. Anyways, here it is: Verse 1: (The King appears on a balcony, overlooking a crowd of questioning and disappointed people. He smiles and waves, pretending to be friendly and benevolent.) C - G - Am - F (This is a common chord progression that sounds stable and familiar. It also establishes the key and the tonality of the song.) You may think that I have failed you That I have broken all my promises But I assure you, that's not true I'm working hard to grant your wishes C - G - Am - G (This is a slight variation of the previous progression, that adds some tension and anticipation. It also leads to the chorus.) And I'm sorry for the delay But good things come to those who wait So please be patient, don't be mad I'm sure you'll be very glad Chorus: (The King starts to sing in a hypnotic & soothing tone, as the people below him start to calm down and listen. He gestures with his hands, as if casting a spell over them.) F - G - C - Am (This is another common chord progression that sounds smooth and soothing. It also reinforces the key and the tonality of the song.) Trust in me, trust in me I'm your King, I'm your friend F - G - C - G (This is a slight variation of the previous progression, that adds some resolution and confidence. It also leads to the next verse.) Trust in me, trust in me Everything will be alright in the end Verse 2: (The King points to the horizon, where some smoke and fire can be seen. He acts as if he is concerned and sympathetic, but also confident and optimistic.) C - G - Am - F (This is the same progression as the first verse, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.) You may see some troubles in the kingdom Some unrest, some chaos, some despair But don't you worry, don't you fear I have a plan to make things fair C - G - Am - G (This is the same progression as the first verse, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.) And I know it may seem hard But we have to stick together We're a team, we're a family And we'll make it through this weather Chorus: (The King repeats the chorus, as the people below him nod and smile, agreeing with him. He looks pleased and charismatically smugs, as he thinks he has them under his control.) F - G - C - Am (This is the same progression as the first chorus, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.) Trust in me, trust in me I'm your King, I'm your friend F - G - C - G (This is the same progression as the first chorus, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.) Trust in me, trust in me Everything will be alright in the end Bridge: (The King changes his tone, becoming more sinister and arrogant. He kinda reveals his true intentions, He claims that he is the only one who can use its power, and that he will reward those who follow him.) Am - F - C - G (This is a reversed version of the chorus progression, that sounds darker and more menacing. It also creates a contrast and a change in the song.) There's a star up in the sky That can make your dreams come true But it's not for everyone It's only for the chosen few Fm - C - G - C (This is a borrowed chord progression, that uses a minor chord from the parallel minor key. It sounds surprising and twisted. It also creates a drama and an emotion in the song.) And I'm the one who can decide Who deserves to get their wish So don't you question, don't you doubt Just follow me and you'll be rich Chorus: (The King sings the chorus one last time, as the people below him cheer and applaud, completely gaslighted by him.) F - G - C - Am (This is the same progression as the previous choruses, to create a sense of continuity and consistency. However, it also sounds ironic and contrasted with the bridge.) Trust in me, trust in me I'm your King, I'm your friend F - G - C - G (This is the same progression as the previous choruses, to create a sense of continuity and consistency. However, it also sounds ironic and contrasted with the bridge.) Trust in me, trust in me Everything will be alright in the end sooo--???
This is sooooooo goood 😭 I can’t read those chords so I really really appreciate you describing their sound lol I was very able to sing this song in my head, and it sounds like a total Disney song. Also it kept making me think of the snake in The Jungle Book, who hypnotizes the main boy. So a nice villain reference too! Especially if you hold the “s” in trusssst when you sing it
I find it super ironic that Disney went “Starboy? Eh” in the spirit of Asha not needing a love interest or any kind of interest because screw feminine feelings Yet everybody wants Starboy 😂
Disney's choice to not add Starboy because 'no romance' is kinda dumb since the original Disney princesses have a prince or someone as their love interest.
Honestly they could even have done no romance but still kept Starboy. Boys and girls can be friends! I just hate the Luma mascot when we could have had a tumblr sexyman a la Jack Frost. (Or both! Both would be good! Cute boy who is also a cute star is very nice actually.) And the fanfic authors could have fixed the "no romance" thing lol.
Where did you even get that from? They scrapped star boy because the execs though he was too-genie-like. Just because Disney has been making less stories with romance doesn't mean they're against them lmao
Bit late but I was thinking about a tangled reference and thought that with starboys goodbye, asha could say ‘You were my new wish’ and star boy could respond ‘and you were mine’.
Exactly, like 99% or Wishes problems were caused by feminists being disrespectful to the Disney company and not realizing THE MOVIES WEREN'T MADE FOR THEM. Disney has been a champion of Romance for a century now. It's completely idiotic to demand they stop doing what they do best, which is princess/ fantasy romance to soothe some 30 year old cat lady in New York's ego. Feminists have been ruining the media for decades now, Ghostbusters (2016), The Star wars Sequels, Ocean 8, People were getting tired of these Hollywood slacktivists coming into THEIR media and destroying it. It officially turned me off of feminism because this is what it does. In fact, even this rewrite has major issues with Asha still being a bit Mary sue for the girl boss effect. Like why couldn't Asha's father wish for her to have true love like he did to make a beautiful Princess and the Frog reference? "My daddy never did get what he wanted, but he had what he needed. He had love." No one ever says Tiana's not a girl boss simply because her parents wanted her to experience love. Why couldn't Asha's father wish that for her? Or maybe her friend? The one (rewritten) rich girl could also have wished for true love and fallen for Simon unrequitedly. Only for him to realize that he didn't need to be strong, he could be gentle. This is a great reference because the most powerful magic in every single Disney movie is that of True Love. So TRUE LOVE SHOULD BE THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Additionally, if they wanted to MCU this Disney Cinematic universe, they could easily make those who didn't have their wishes granted by Magnifico the future Disney villains. Give me a Young Gaston who looked up to Simon and asked to be strong and adored by all women only to know there will always be someone who will reject him, give me a baby Evil Queen who wanted to be the most beautiful only for it to be revealed she will always be seen as less than, Magnifico could have been a great origin for most of the classic villains we all love (basically making the Live Action Villain origins alternative universes kinda like how they did the spiderman movies for the MCU). I also like the idea that the child of Star and Asha would be the Genie (SEQUEL ALREADY BUILT IN DISNEY COME ON!) who was imprisoned in the lamp by the Evil Queen and sold from Rosas to a wandering trader. Infinite Cosmic Power, itty bitty living space. Like you could absolutely use wish to make a DCU. But you would have to accept the original premise of Disney is not feminist, racially sensitive or woke. And we can't do that with the people currently running these corporations and DEI programs. I mean could you imagine trying to convince a rabid feminist to write about True Love Conquering all and reminding them that the Fairy Godmother was an old white lady? Yeah, we all know why this sucked but no one wants to admit it.
The only change I would make would be to have Magnifico become a genie. Someone who fed off wishes and only granted a few now being obligated to fulfill wishes.
Honestly one thing I wish that they did was teach a lesson that wishes can be dangerous and not all have good intentions. Asha’s whole “give the people their wishes and grant them all” was horrible because not everyone is a good person. I mean, just look at how greedy the town was, constantly asking more of magnifico and only caring about the wishes. What I would have done is made magnifico a sympathetic hero turned corrupt due to magic then gets redeemed. He fears for his citizens safety and will do anything to protect them, even if it means he shelters them too much. Like a parent who tries to shield their children from the real world due to their fear of them getting hurt. He isn’t a bad guy, just a king who deep down is still a scared child who had to witness the fall of his home and family. Even throughout the movie we see him having childlike tendencies like needing constant reassurance and praise. Also his little mannerisms and certain lines he says really makes it seem like he is a kid at heart. He is scared and won’t let history repeat itself, not this time. Asha however being a young girl and not having experienced the pain Magnifico went through, is naive and tries to free the wishes along with starboy. Magnifico turns to the dark magic (which now is changed so that those who turn to it CAN turn back within a certain time frame) to protect the town from what he believes is dangerous. They succeed in their quest, trap and or capture magnifico somehow and free the wishes, but soon realize why magnifico didn’t grant all of their dreams in the first place. Chaos ensues with some wishes being purely good and innocent while others collide, cause harm and destroy Rosa’s. Asha in panic and despair doesn’t know what to do and realizes this is all her fault and her and star boy need to reverse these wishes. She learns that while yes some things king Magnifico did weren’t exactly fair (like erasing all memories of their wish and basically turning the citizens into shells with no purpose but to keep on wishing) Magnifico did have good intentions. They go and seek help from the queen who joins them in an attempt to get her husband and kingdom back because deep down she knows he is a good man and that Rosa’s doesn’t deserve to fall. Using Stars magic they attempt to reverse the wishes, collecting and turning them back into nothing more than just hopes and dreams. As they are nearly half way through, Magnifico manages to escape whatever chamber or trap they stuck him in and creates the staff to harness the wishes and banish the “evil” he believes is in his town. He appears in the final act and after sucking the wishes back from the towns people he begins to entrap them, guaranteeing safety and vowing to never let anything hurt them again. Asha and star rush to defeat him but soon realize he’s far too powerful. Star is wounded and a lot of his magic was drained. Asha stays beside him, and won’t let Magnifico take him. Then, the queen steps up. While she may not have the magic or power he does, she knows his heart and intentions. He is not a bad guy, no one is, they are all just flawed human beings with dreams. She continues to talk to him more and more, reminding him of who he is and why she loved him to begin with. And so to end it all, and to pay tribute to all of Disney’s classic tales, she gives him true loves kiss (as cheesy as it’s sounds lol) and breaks the hold the magic had on him. The magic from him is drained and stars magic is regained along with his strength (I’m imagining something similar to the scene in beauty and the beast when the beast turns back into a human n order to pay homage to the film). After that Asha apologizes for her naivety and says she just wanted to make the people happy, magnifico apologizes and tells her why he had to do what he had to. After talking he decides to lift the rule he made that states wishes will be forgotten when given up, so that way those with them can still try to make them happen with hard work. He still will grant the wishes of citizens but now they have the right to decide and work for their goals. Up until this point I don’t know what would happen to star but I definitely would want star and Asha romance because cmon, we all know it would be adorable. So yeah that’s my little rewrite. I think making both Asha and Magnifico “villains” in their own sense would be a good take because it goes to show sometimes not everything is black and white. Asha isn’t a bad person, just flawed. Same way Magnifico isn’t evil or cruel. Also Asha would get an entire personality rewrite. I’m thinking of making her more introverted and reserved kinda like Bezeema but not as easily spooked. She’s efficient, does her job and is determined to help her people even if she isn’t the most charismatic person. This could have been such a cool,p story but nope, Disney had to ruin it
Pretty excellent rewrite! One minor suggestion I have is that instead of the one friend getting killed off, have her get seriously injured. This can be what turns Simon back against Magnifico, and then his repentance can be nursing her back to health, with possibly a quick scene in the credits showing him helping her to her feet, showing that healing has started.
Oh no that plotline is actually quite sweet and works better with the promotional goals of Disney, including the anniversary theme. Even just imagining how pretty that blue starry aesthetic would be on her at the end 🥺
honestly, i think asha being the king and queen's adopted daughter could still work in this. we can show how close asha is with him by making *him* be the one to tell her about the star and sing the song, which makes later conflict for asha make sense, because we KNOW that they really do love each other. she could be touring people because thats her duty as the princess. and she could also feel like its her duty to make her people happy, which is why the doubt in her mind originally starts. for the grandfather thing, it could be an old man she met one day and became super close to, someone she could trust without feeling the pressures of being royalty. king magnifico could let her see the wishes because she's been asking to and he thinks "oh well, whats the harm?" she could ask about the wishes and he could get really angry and sends her to her room. basically blah blah blah, same things as the things you did pretty much, just adjusted to fit this new narrative. i only have an issue with this because if we really wanna pay homage to the original movies, you've gotta have a princess man!
I’m so tired of modern Disney princesses not getting a princess dress makeover moment 😢 Tangled didn’t have one, Raya didn’t have one, Wish didn’t have one, Moana didn’t really have one (she does have that ceremonial outfit though, so this is a half addition). Like in Frozen they get TONS of awesome outfits, and everyone loves it! Artists, cosplayers and kids all enjoy the beautiful outfits and the cool variety. And just because you’re making stories about other cultures doesn’t mean that those other cultures don’t have their own cool formal outfits!
Luna Ponta I agree that it is preferential for a transformation/clothes change to represent a change in the character. In a way them not having one in this movie ends up illustrating that Asha does not go through any change or character growth really. I haven’t seen the movie yet so I can’t confirm this, but based on what everyone is saying that is the sense I’m getting. Also, I know having changes in clothing can feel like a marketing ploy, but honestly I don’t mind it haha, I’m a sucker for cool different designs lol. But another thing is that a costume change is normal/almost tradition at Disney. All the princesses excluding the most recent ones, going way back to even Snow White, had at least 2 outfits. It makes a good reference to the classics (since they were trying to do loads of references-heck, they could have started the movie off with her in Snow White’s rag dress while she’s doing really dirty chores, and then she puts her normal clothes on when she goes to her job). Also People change clothes! It’s normal! The only reason they don’t do it in animation is because it’s a lot more work usually. And a single outfit makes a character more recognizable. But Still… I don’t know. I can’t believe Disney’s marketing team didn’t make them have an outfit change lol. For a company who had corporate meddle so much in the making of this movie, I’m surprised that they missed this.
@@clairem1612I know right! Like, the only movie that really makes sense for them to have the same clothes is Raya, since it’s in an apocalyptic type world and who had time for changing clothes
I love this idea!! This way she can be an actual princess which pays respect to the actual reason disney is what it is today: princesses!! Also it wpuld be very cool if they ended the movie by asha becoming the queen and if disney lives another a 100 years they show asha passing off the kindom, indecating the beggining of a new age and a new life for disney! The kindom could represent disney!
This may be one of my favorite Wish re-writes thus far! I like that you've taken what we got and not completely changed it but made it feel a lot more fleshed out and well-constructed.
Magnifica was rolling nat 20s on persuasion. Until someone rolled a nat 20 on perception then he got cursed with nat 1s. Edit: This is the most likes I have ever gotten thank you.
I though maybe you’d reveal that the Queen was also a star but only granted magnifico’s wishes and the drinks she handed him were conjured by her magic. Maybe magnificonis the one who accidentally gets killed and the Queen’d be the twist big bad villain, maybe she’d even turn into a dragon and Asha getting the conjured wand from Star would all be a sleeping beauty reference.
I think the scene where the queen dies would happen because the King decided to grab star instead of his wife, leaving her to fall into the abyss in the maniacal belief he could bring her back with the ammount of power star seemed to have.
In Aladdin one of the Genie's limitations was that he couldn't Kill, the sequel Return of Jafar also addresses it which prevents Jafar from an easy victory. So it's kind of a net Positive that Magnifico can't grant any wishes with murderous intent. But also makes me wonder how anyone could have such a wish?
Fairly odd parents had limitations on their wishes, too, including not killing, and not messing with love at all. Also, that would be a good reference from Aladdin having the Genie’s wish limitations as some of Magnifico’s restrictions that Asha still keeps.
Its either this i want or a sequel in which an evil deity appears asha goes tyrannical or has a redemption arc magnifico comes back and is like "get away from me evil doers "
Pretty good. Definitely better than what Disney actually gave us. Why not have Asha be part of the natives from Rosa, who are also naturally gifted in "healing magic". Asha, having the most potential out of all her people, becomes Magnifico's first and only apprentice. She finds out that Magnifico only grants wishes that are harmless to his position in power, and the rest are left in the vault - but in reality, he absorbs those wishes to further fuel his already powerful magic…and maybe he was the real reason for his old kingdom's downfall. Asha uses her magic to unintentionally cause a star to land on Earth. As Magnifico is aware that the star's power actually eclipses his own, and uses the dark book to become powerful enough to steal Star's magic. Asha, remembering her grandfather's and late father's words about wishes, is able to encourage everyone to take back their wishes as they have the power make them real. Star escapes the staff's mirror and imprisons Magnifico in his place. While the kingdom of Rosas repairs itself, Amaya is revealed to be the true mastermind behind all of Magnifico's evil deeds; and vows to one day free her beloved husband. Or why not have Asha be Magnifico and Amaya's adopted or biological daughter - imagine having to battle your own parents in order to save your home. Another version is Asha doesn't know what she really wants - as she has all she needs, plus is very helpful and reliable in Rosas. Magnifico still refuses to grant Sabino's vague wish, and explains that his old kingdom was destroyed because a being from the stars granted everyone's wish and caused mayhem to spread. The being than abandoned everyone as the kingdom tore itself apart (Magnifico and Amaya being the only survivors). Asha wishes upon a star and Star appears, and the two grant most of the wishes - however, Star, still not in full control of his powers, unintentionally causes mayhem and disorder. Magnifico, aware he is not powerful enough to stop all the chaotic magic hesitantly uses the dark book. Sabino suffers a heart attack during a scuffle, and regrets not being able to inspire people with his music - but Asha reveals that his music made people happy and inspired them to help others - Sabino dies peacefully in his sleep. Magnifico steals Star's magic, but Asha is able to realize the magic that all people have and their connection to the stars. Magnifico is defeated and imprisoned. Leaving his kind wife to replace him as ruler. Amaya and Asha promise to find a way to free and cure Magnifico. Asha learns that Magnifico had a system to keep everyone safe from themselves, and that not every wish should be granted. Star, aware he's not meant to live in this world, gives Asha a wand made of his magic - they share a kiss before he returns among the other stars.
Definitely better than Disney’s version! Though I think the confines of “girl boss, no love story” end up helping it. Having a romance between Star and Asha seems natural, even if the conclusion is a bittersweet Pocahontas/John Smith situation. We could even get a farewell “Ah-na” wave as they go their separate ways in the last scene. 😂
I would have had the Star Queen, the ruler of the wishing stars who looks like the Blue Fairy, descend sensing all the wishing magic being used or maybe she was being used by Magnifico as the source of his power but had to sacrifice others wishes to suppress her presence. She would tell Star that it is time for them to return to the sky and leave this world so that wishes can be granted from a distance. Star is sad and looks at Asha and has a thought, he then looks at the Star Queen and uses the wishing spell and wishes to become human. The Star Queen is surprised but smiles and grants his wish, Asha embracing Star during it as a big magic scene happens and at the end Star is human and he and Asha are now sorcerers wearing their end movie royalty outfits.
i saw a comment from another video that suggested a song where she and all her friends sang about what they desired, but when it gets to simon it falls silent and eerie because he literally dont know what he wants i just wanted to slap that there because i really liked it and thought it was cool
this is pretty good!! one thing i would really want to keep from wish's development concepts though is starboy being mute, i think having a main character be nonverbal and stay nonverbal for the whole movie would be really cool. this plot you outlined still works if he communicates things through expressions, gestures, props etc, or have asha figure out or already know some lore rather than him explaining it. plus we can have some ariel/tinker bell references (i would move heaven and earth to have him for whatever reason do the ursula "BO-DY LAN-GUAGE" gesture)
I like your rewrite. But for those unaware, at around 21:10, that's a portion of my At All Costs animatic. Hope you don't mind adding the link to the source in your description :3?
I have watched a deleted scene with starboy and it looked so so so much better and fun then what the final came to be. It had the girl power, the jokes and that Disney feeling. It's sad that they deleted all that. I think you also portrayed it very well! You kept the base storyline of the movie but switched up some things to make the flow and feel much better.
I would also add the queen turning into a dragon to fight asha before dying as a reference to sleeping beauty, yes I know it's already referenced but I can't resist the rule of cool
I like it a lot! Very cute rewrite that makes tons more sense. Great job! One thing I would have loved though would be if Star and Asha were romantic interests. Like, I get the hesitation, but Disney stories were built around romance for decades, I think itd be a crime for Asha to not fall in love with Star and vice versa. He could even still leave at the end, or become her sidekick/wand for the rest of her career as a granter of wishes and Maybe like as he transforms back and forth, all she has to do is hold his hand and then she’s suddenly holding the wand? Something like that, idk lol.
I feel like the queen should have more screen time/a more active role in the evil plots of the movie so they feel like a real villain couple and the queen isn't just an accessory to Magnifico's character. Also maybe it's better if instead of dying before Magnifico he just sees her get defeated/severely injured and that's what makes him angry and lash out even more at star. Then when he goes to look at her and try to help her or hold her or smthg that's when they both die or get trapped in a mirror forever or whatever.
Romance would have made it better though. He doesn’t have to stay, but if in the goodbye scene Asha like… grabbed Starboy by the wrist, making him turn around, and then panicked because she didn’t have a plan for what to do, didn’t expect it to WORK, so she just stood there blinking at him for a moment, before going to kiss him. He can leave after that, it’s still a happy ending even if the love interests don’t stay together. GIVE US ROMANCE IN DISNEY.
I think this movie had a good message, but it got seriously lost during production. The issue wasn't that Magnifico isn't granting every single wish. IT'S THAT HE'S DEPRIVING PEOPLE OF THEIR HOPES AND DREAMS TO KEEP THEM UNDER CONTROL. Asha's grandfather outright said that he didn't NEED his wish to come true. Just having it back was all that mattered to him. There's no magic in this world more powerful than human spirit. That's what made the final battle so beautiful to me. I'm truly disappointed that they felt the need to scrap the original concept, because this could have been so much more.
I haven’t seen Wish, but I’m very impressed with this rewrite. And the amount of references from past Disney movies that are added in here is incredible. Great job.
I won’t lie, I loved the way you structured the and characterized everyone. The references were a little cluttered but I commend you for making such obscure Easter eggs. A lot of them were really good and having a Disney montage in all cost was my favorite. I might cut down on a few things here and there so it’s not too long but overall it’s a good rewrite.
I really wish that there was more romance in this rewrite because romance is sweet and the fact that Disney is not doing romance in their stories is making me mad
Ooh how about a post credit scene with Star back in space looking back down at Earth, then he hears footsteps and turns around to see a familiar silhouette? *wink*
dude I was only half paying attention and this still made me cry. this could’ve been such a good movie, and oh my fucking god my heart is doing loops with star boy I love him??
I love your take on the Script! However, I think that King Magnifico's defeat, should stay as in the original: trapped in a mirror. The scene is in itself quite a reference (the 1 frame of the magic mirror face from snow white and all)
I love how creative the 'fandom' is and how everyone collectively just. ignores canon and rewrites it better which good for them tbh! I can see wish having a full blown big fandom like encanto if it were written like this. Especially with starboy. i want star boy :(
While there's no one clear consensus on what a well-made Wish would look like exactly, there are three huge points which I think everyone can agree on: 1. Bring back the Starboy from the original drafts. Make him a shapeshifter and a mix of Peter Pan and the Genie, with his power coming from people's wishes, and make him and Asha fall in love. His coming to Earth should have been her wish. 2. Give us an evil power couple with Magnifico and Amaya being co-conspirators. Like Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa, for those who remember the Power Rangers. Not an unheard of concept. 3. Have Asha change and learn something, with the lesson being something other than "all wishes should be granted" or "those who don't give into your entitlement are evil." A good possible lesson would be "Don't depend on others to grant your wishes, make them come true yourself."
7:17 "one of them in a bowler hat says they thought the sky was falling" AHHHH I GREW UP WITH THOSE TWO MOVIES BEING REFERENCED SIMULTANEOUSLY I AM SCREAMING
This is so much better, just amazing and totally would’ve made me cry if they’d done it like this. Masterfully done, very clever and brilliant work from you!
It’s pretty good, but I think the star boy should’ve been introduced in the town scene, maybe give him a name something silly but grounded in reality. Like Stellano or something.

One small suggestion; when Asha hits starboy with the broom, the star magic should make the broom move around like a person, to reference the Sorcerer's apprentice.
double sorcerers apprentice reference, nice (more on the nose as well, rather than just the magic dress theming at the end)

Or maybe it’s the act of wanting and striving for something that is important, not the wish itself in the end? Keeping that Hope.
I though it was going to be about being careful what you wish for, LIKE THE TAGLINE FOR THE MOVIE SAYS!
Man if only Disney knew how to do a theme like that
(Princess and the frog intensify)
Ok, but a villainous power couple? How could they have slept on it?
Ikr??
The only way I can see is that there is literally no one (with any sense of creativity) at the wheel, just some weird AI statistics machine run through a Hollywood legal-HR department. They sucked the creativity out of it, then left us with characters/references/motivations that were incredibly lazy & made no sense.
in regards to scooby doo mystery incorporated, we actually have a good example of that between brad and judy. I feel like we could do a lot basing them off that. like, they both love two things: each other, AND POWEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Yeah and it was going to be the first villain couple like Disney why this could’ve been the first villain couple ever in Disney history like why
they didn't want a woman to be evil I guess
And it also follows the trend earlier Disney movies used to - that *evil destroys itself.* Would be perfect!
*Asha.

His wish even fits already! Or you could change it to something more accurate to the real Walt like “I wish to promote that childlike wonder in all of us” or “I wish to bring joy to the world through art and story telling”.
He could even have a tiny mouse sidekick 🥺
And maybe have some ducks and dogs. And he tries to be a wingman for his little mouse when it tries to go flirt with a girl mouse 🥺
Yeah his character basically represents him with the whole turning 100 years old thing like it makes sense
God that would have made me cry
Missed opportunity!
This. This is exactly why everybody wants Wish to be good. It has such potential to be.
And they just HAD to fuck it up.
FR that would have been a great idea!! I would have loved the obligatory "cute and marketable character" to have just looked like this🐁
All Disney had to do was write the damn thing themselves.
Best movie of 2023? Leo, Really? Across the spiderverse is way more deserving of that title, even elemental is better than Leo.
Best Last-ish... If you care to read @@Skiig

The more I see Asha at the start of the video, I’m like “Braids don’t flow in the wind like that”. Lol
Honestly- I wished they went with the other previous designs Asha had with her hair being shorter and or curly,, the braids just seemed like an easy way out to animate
@@bobtheball5384 agreed!
They wanted the effect of having straight hair while maintaining the appearance of diversity by giving her braids without knowing how they really work. It's like how remake Ariel had locs, but soaking wet locs are actually extremely heavy.

I had my own version of the film, with key differences:
-asha's father, who is named alejandro, talks to asha the concept of the stars in the film, but it adds that "the star king checks if a wish is worth to be granted".
- sabino would not be her grandpa but a sorcerer who adopted her as her apprentice after both her parents died, sabino wonders how is that magnifico can grant wishes, since the normal sorcerers can't.
-asha's love interest would be magnifico's son, Sergio, with whom she's a friend since childhood, in the lapse of the film Sergio will be confronted with hard decisions to come.
-star, who here is named hesperio, is a "star child" literally the starboy of the concept arts but as a toddler entering childhood, that way when asha and hesperio meets, they form a sibling relationship.
-the rest of the film is about hesperio is looking for part of his star brethren, who are missing, and he came to earth to look if they're here.
-the rest of the film goes more or less the same, but when asha and her friends irrupt the castle, the find a secret passage, where they discover the truth behind rosas's prosperity: Magnifico and amaya were kidnapping stars as power source using the knowledge if the book of darkness.
-Sergio, caught between his duty as son and prince, and the idea of have SAPIENT beings enslaved like this, chooses asha's side in her decision to free them.
-when the conflicts begins, asha, sergio and her friends tries to unleash the stars, but just as they manage to do so, Queen amaya stabs asha in her back, killing her, while magnifico's soldiers restrain sergio and her friends.
-in the public plaza, magnifico criticize their attempt to unleash the stars, but sergio questions him if the wellbeing of rosas is worth such price. What no one realizes is that in the short time the stars were freed, they called something to the earth.
-just when magnifico is in a speech explaining why it was worth, gabo interrumpt with a question: "hey guys, why are there two moons?".
-it was not a moon, but belobog, the king and father of the stars (a kaiju-like bipedal griffin that irradiates a majesty light) whom wasn't exactly thrilled to see his brethren used as batteries.
-the result, belobog goes into a rampage that puts rosas upside down, releasing beams of light that twist the granted wish of anyone striken by them (a man who wishes to be the fastest man ends turned into a centaur for example).
-sergio and asha's friends goes to unleash the stars again, while magnifico and amaya, aware of the scrap they were now, try to scape, but belobog caughts them, turning magnifico into the magic mirror, and amaya into the magic harp from mickey and the beanstalk.
-just when belobog is about to destroy rosas for good, hesperio manages to convince him to stop, showing him his memories of his friendship with asha, who was almost ab older sibling to him.
-calmed by this, belobog resucitates asha, this time not as human but as a 🧚♀️.
-before depart rosas, asha says farewel to hesperio, sergio and her friends, since now she will travel the world to find "worth wishes" to be granted.
Bro this is idea is so good 😮
Maybe his wife could get turned into a stone statue as a reference to Cinderella III A Twist in Time?
i'm imagining a classic fakeout death scene, like this:
while magnifico is sobbing next to whatever he turned his wife into, star boy falls to the ground, fatally injured. asha goes to grab and hold him, and she rolls him onto his back so he can see the night sky. the moon is new, so it's full of stars. beautiful.
starboy says something like "hah, at least i get to see my friends again..." and starts thanking asha for everything because he's the embodiment of joy and light and positivity or something, and then asha starts crying over him as he slowly goes limp- but then, as you suggest, the whole kingdom starts wishing for him to he okay, and then it works.
and then either they have their heartfelt bittersweet goodbye scene or "it's not goodbye forever, i'll come back to grant the wishes of rosas every once in a while" and then the movie ends with a bunch of wholesome scenes and everyone is happy. yaaaaay 🎉
Oh sort of like the hyena's tearing scar apart like in Lion King for Magnifco's death?

One small edit on top of your edits: I think it would be good if the captured wishes were actually stars. Then they can have this paraell with Asha wanting to help save her people, and Star wanting to help save his, and both valuing what the other person wants, or wishing for what's good for the other person moreover, over simply being together. I think if the captured wishes are also captured stars imprisoned in bubbles, ones who presumably fell to earth to grant the wishes they heard and were never able to carry out their purpose, it also makes Magnifico more evil. Which is a plus.
Oh my goldilocks wait that’s actually a really good idea!!!!
Is it ok if I use this idea?
@@petthepirate3115 Please do. Thank you for liking my idea--let me talk about it more 🥺
So one thing that I feel like all good children's movies need is something that invites imaginative play.
You're the same, you're no better; help my dad, help my grandfather, help my (he looks at Star sneeringly) /friend/."
Except she is different, she's not like him at all. Even if she's conflicted at the end of the day her heart does want what's best, and she proves that by simply trusting Star, and as you said, using him "well."
Other tagalong ideas:
- Disney is so married to the idea of twist villains, fine. Have Magifico's /wife/ be a twist villain. That actually might've been cool for once, to see her all innocent and sweet and helping Asha's friend's only to backstab then in Act IV like "lol did you really think I'd go against my husband? I love him, obviously. He's /my/ wish."
-Asha's dad should've been an astronomer!
@@sawyerk641 That’s great storytelling there I love the plots you added. Great comment.
Idk if this is good or not but when you said Asha accidentally killed the queen I laughed so hard 😭😭😭😭
Wha…I don’t know what to say.😅

HELP WAHAHAHA I LOVE NIMONA ❤️
I'm just imagining the scream she makes as she falls is the same one from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs when the queen dies, just a funny call back.
@@axletheartistmy mind is a little foggy, how is that a Nimona reference?
I think that forbidden book corrupted him. He was fine until he used that book.
@@childrensville.9110he really had more backstory than what they showed… I wanted to know about the taprestry… also wish makes for a good kingdom hearts worlds… as in the corrupted book can easily be a source of darkness. That essentially corrupted his weak and falliablw heart.

Asha should have hit star with a frying pan for Disney’s Tangled 11:43
And thr resulting star dust particles fall on a broom or mop and it starts dancing/working on its own as another rapid fire reference.
You're version of Wish sounds like a fantastic movie to bad that's not what ended up happening
They did kind of make a movie out it, with Nicolas Cage, but it was not animated, nor it had Mickey Mouse in it, or at least not as I remember.
@@mariogtiasimmer8170 Oh yeah, I remember it. Don't remind me, though. That movie was awful. 😂
This is the actual Wish movie. I refuse to believe anything else.
omg the Donald Mickey and Goofy reference rather than the seven dwarves is so cuteeee and a great way to pay homage to disneyʼs iconic history without having too many characters
Like Mulan. Yo everyone 👋
About the King's song to calm everyone down, I kinda made it for the rewrite, with the chords. Titled "Trust in Me" or "Everything Will Be Alright" if you want. Anyways, here it is: Verse 1: (The King appears on a balcony, overlooking a crowd of questioning and disappointed people. He smiles and waves, pretending to be friendly and benevolent.)
C - G - Am - F (This is a common chord progression that sounds stable and familiar. It also establishes the key and the tonality of the song.)
You may think that I have failed you
That I have broken all my promises
But I assure you, that's not true
I'm working hard to grant your wishes
C - G - Am - G (This is a slight variation of the previous progression, that adds some tension and anticipation. It also leads to the chorus.)
And I'm sorry for the delay
But good things come to those who wait
So please be patient, don't be mad
I'm sure you'll be very glad
Chorus: (The King starts to sing in a hypnotic & soothing tone, as the people below him start to calm down and listen. He gestures with his hands, as if casting a spell over them.)
F - G - C - Am (This is another common chord progression that sounds smooth and soothing. It also reinforces the key and the tonality of the song.)
Trust in me, trust in me
I'm your King, I'm your friend
F - G - C - G (This is a slight variation of the previous progression, that adds some resolution and confidence. It also leads to the next verse.)
Trust in me, trust in me
Everything will be alright in the end
Verse 2: (The King points to the horizon, where some smoke and fire can be seen. He acts as if he is concerned and sympathetic, but also confident and optimistic.)
C - G - Am - F (This is the same progression as the first verse, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.)
You may see some troubles in the kingdom
Some unrest, some chaos, some despair
But don't you worry, don't you fear
I have a plan to make things fair
C - G - Am - G (This is the same progression as the first verse, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.)
And I know it may seem hard
But we have to stick together
We're a team, we're a family
And we'll make it through this weather
Chorus: (The King repeats the chorus, as the people below him nod and smile, agreeing with him. He looks pleased and charismatically smugs, as he thinks he has them under his control.)
F - G - C - Am (This is the same progression as the first chorus, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.)
Trust in me, trust in me
I'm your King, I'm your friend
F - G - C - G (This is the same progression as the first chorus, to create a sense of continuity and consistency.)
Trust in me, trust in me
Everything will be alright in the end
Bridge: (The King changes his tone, becoming more sinister and arrogant. He kinda reveals his true intentions, He claims that he is the only one who can use its power, and that he will reward those who follow him.)
Am - F - C - G (This is a reversed version of the chorus progression, that sounds darker and more menacing. It also creates a contrast and a change in the song.)
There's a star up in the sky
That can make your dreams come true
But it's not for everyone
It's only for the chosen few
Fm - C - G - C (This is a borrowed chord progression, that uses a minor chord from the parallel minor key. It sounds surprising and twisted. It also creates a drama and an emotion in the song.)
And I'm the one who can decide
Who deserves to get their wish
So don't you question, don't you doubt
Just follow me and you'll be rich
Chorus: (The King sings the chorus one last time, as the people below him cheer and applaud, completely gaslighted by him.)
F - G - C - Am (This is the same progression as the previous choruses, to create a sense of continuity and consistency. However, it also sounds ironic and contrasted with the bridge.)
Trust in me, trust in me
I'm your King, I'm your friend
F - G - C - G (This is the same progression as the previous choruses, to create a sense of continuity and consistency. However, it also sounds ironic and contrasted with the bridge.)
Trust in me, trust in me
Everything will be alright in the end

I can’t read those chords so I really really appreciate you describing their sound lol
I was very able to sing this song in my head, and it sounds like a total Disney song. Also it kept making me think of the snake in The Jungle Book, who hypnotizes the main boy. So a nice villain reference too! Especially if you hold the “s” in trusssst when you sing it
Definitely way better than “this is the thanks I get” . God, this movie is so pathetic. It’s sad that it could have been so good.
I'm rewriting the whole movie. Mind if I snatch this? :D
I find it super ironic that Disney went “Starboy? Eh” in the spirit of Asha not needing a love interest or any kind of interest because screw feminine feelings
Yet everybody wants Starboy 😂
I don't think Disney was inherently vindicated against romance- I think it was more like they wanted marketing
Disney moment ngl
Disney's choice to not add Starboy because 'no romance' is kinda dumb since the original Disney princesses have a prince or someone as their love interest.
Honestly they could even have done no romance but still kept Starboy. Boys and girls can be friends!
I just hate the Luma mascot when we could have had a tumblr sexyman a la Jack Frost. (Or both! Both would be good! Cute boy who is also a cute star is very nice actually.)
And the fanfic authors could have fixed the "no romance" thing lol.
Where did you even get that from? They scrapped star boy because the execs though he was too-genie-like.
Just because Disney has been making less stories with romance doesn't mean they're against them lmao
Im sorry but I felt the MAGIC OF THE MOVIE YOU WROTE, WITHOUT ACTUALLY WATCHING IT. Disney is so so bad nowadays I can't 😭😭
"The sky is falling" was perfect
Bit late but I was thinking about a tangled reference and thought that with starboys goodbye, asha could say ‘You were my new wish’ and star boy could respond ‘and you were mine’.
AWWWWWWWW
STOP I WANT THE MOVIE REWRITTEN
Awwwwhhh
He had love."
No one ever says Tiana's not a girl boss simply because her parents wanted her to experience love.
STOPPP THIS SHOULD BE THE TANGLED REFERENCE, and now i want this movie to be rewritten
I’m so tired of modern Disney princesses not getting a princess dress makeover moment 😢
Tangled didn’t have one, Raya didn’t have one, Wish didn’t have one, Moana didn’t really have one (she does have that ceremonial outfit though, so this is a half addition).
Then the queen rolls a nat 1 on that dex saving throw…. Ouch.

If Wish was like this, I would be OBSESSED with it. No joke, like millennial obsessed with Harry Potter kind of obsessed.
I actually wanted the talking goat to be voiced by Eddie Murphy 😭😭
Mushu reference!
Another idea for a Tangled reference is instead of hitting star boy with a broom she could hit him with a frying pan
*.slams hand on desk.*
I'll buy your entire stock-
Hey! Give me one!
It could be ill thought out wishes that, if granted, would logically result in people being people being hurt or killed.
The film is rewritten in a way that Disney references are not as forced as they originally were.
A Three Caballeros reference would make me cry, they'd probably want to become a band
Your rewrite is the timeline we sadly didn't get.
A good nod to little mermaid!
YES
i saw a comment from another video that suggested
a song where she and all her friends sang about what they desired, but when it gets to simon it falls silent and eerie because he literally dont know what he wants
i just wanted to slap that there because i really liked it and thought it was cool
this is pretty good!! one thing i would really want to keep from wish's development concepts though is starboy being mute, i think having a main character be nonverbal and stay nonverbal for the whole movie would be really cool. this plot you outlined still works if he communicates things through expressions, gestures, props etc, or have asha figure out or already know some lore rather than him explaining it. plus we can have some ariel/tinker bell references (i would move heaven and earth to have him for whatever reason do the ursula "BO-DY LAN-GUAGE" gesture)
I like your rewrite. But for those unaware, at around 21:10, that's a portion of my At All Costs animatic. Hope you don't mind adding the link to the source in your description :3?
Hope she sees this and adds the source
It credits you at 13:39 :)
Honestly, I would love to see this rendition. Maybe a kickstarter could be made for this project, haha.
I would also add the queen turning into a dragon to fight asha before dying as a reference to sleeping beauty, yes I know it's already referenced but I can't resist the rule of cool
If i could have a wish granted by king Magnifico, I would wish for this movie to be rewritten by your scenario- that's how good you did⭐✨
I like it a lot! He could even still leave at the end, or become her sidekick/wand for the rest of her career as a granter of wishes and
Maybe like as he transforms back and forth, all she has to do is hold his hand and then she’s suddenly holding the wand? Something like that, idk lol.
I feel like the queen should have more screen time/a more active role in the evil plots of the movie so they feel like a real villain couple and the queen isn't just an accessory to Magnifico's character. Also maybe it's better if instead of dying before Magnifico he just sees her get defeated/severely injured and that's what makes him angry and lash out even more at star. Then when he goes to look at her and try to help her or hold her or smthg that's when they both die or get trapped in a mirror forever or whatever.
This sounds so much better than what we got. Including the dance animation Disney reused is hilarious.
Frrr
I love when a fandom all come to together to collaborate on ideas on how to make a movie better ❤
I want Magnificat to say “I caught a shooting star” when he trapped star boy
oof
Ooh how about a post credit scene with Star back in space looking back down at Earth, then he hears footsteps and turns around to see a familiar silhouette? *wink*

dude I was only half paying attention and this still made me cry. this could’ve been such a good movie, and oh my fucking god my heart is doing loops with star boy I love him??
This rewrite’s pretty great!
The goodbye is giving Pocahontas reference
I feel like skilled disney fans should get together and literally just remake the movie so we can pretend that one is the real one
It's nice that we now have an actual human writer for this movie
I absolutely love this!! I rewrote the story and have it on ao3. Love seeing all the differences! ❤ Great video!!
don't be shy, drop the name =)
Yeah, cmon, share with the class :)
I’d also love to see it!
Please shareeeee
please share!!
13:07 Dude, this sequence merely being described is getting me choked up! Imagine if that was actually in the movie.
We have been robbed
I love your take on the Script!
However, I think that King Magnifico's defeat, should stay as in the original: trapped in a mirror.
The scene is in itself quite a reference (the 1 frame of the magic mirror face from snow white and all)
This would have been good! Now I'm even more sad we didn't get this.
I love how creative the 'fandom' is and how everyone collectively just. ignores canon and rewrites it better which good for them tbh! I can see wish having a full blown big fandom like encanto if it were written like this. Especially with starboy. i want star boy :(
While there's no one clear consensus on what a well-made Wish would look like exactly, there are three huge points which I think everyone can agree on:
3. Have Asha change and learn something, with the lesson being something other than "all wishes should be granted" or "those who don't give into your entitlement are evil." A good possible lesson would be "Don't depend on others to grant your wishes, make them come true yourself."
i really like the idea of making asha have more of a twilight sparkle -esque personality rather than the typical quirky Disney personality
Imagine if they somehow included a stable of horses with horses that look like all of the Disney horses (like Maximus, Khan, Philipe, )
7:17 "one of them in a bowler hat says they thought the sky was falling" AHHHH I GREW UP WITH THOSE TWO MOVIES BEING REFERENCED SIMULTANEOUSLY I AM SCREAMING
I am only 7 minutes in but I am already excited and hooked for what’s next.
Girl, Disney should've hired you. This was beautiful, I was genuinely moved by multiple scenes.
WE WERE ROBBED WITH A STARBOY. WE. WERE. R O B B E D.
Best remake ever. I haven't even seen the movie, and I can tell from all the things you said they didn't do that it's gonna be pretty bad.
I think it'd be cute if when the star falls from the tower it's in an arc in reference to the Disney opening credits
