Some of you guys i bet are just done with that misfire shit coming from those PTU plugs!
So HERE IS MY TRICK to helping you permanently solve that issue if you happen to have it!

It was a recall as the connectors were problematic . The ones which had square corners. Newer model was supposed to fix moisture getting in. Curved corners.

@01:52 its because the ptu u have in your car there is a version 2. The version one was a huge blocky piece of metal woth a heat sink on the face of it. The version 1 had those old rectangle connectors with the metal pintle clips which always corrode. The new style is those nice oval weather tight connectors without the metal pintle clips.
Cars built before the version 2 ptu have old style connectors and required the conversion harness to dapapt from the version 1 garbage to the newer version 2's.

Just an adapter harness to go from old style connectors to new style connectors. Just like the fuel injectors. Old style are rectangular with metal clips and new style are oval with plstic clips. New style vs. Old style.
So you just wire them straight across

I don't agree with Nissan but the reason they did that is time versus money. It's cheaper for Nissan to pay a Technician for a 1/2 hours worth of work to remove the old Ptu, install the new PTU and just plug in a sub harness. sense this was a completelyFree service to all 300 ZX owners because it was a recall. Compared to paying technicians for 2 hours worth of work cutting and sawdering. Not all technicians are good with wiring which means there is potential for failure. Because of time versus money and potential for failure Nissan found it more economical for them to create the sub harness. This saved them hundreds of thousands of dollars in service fees because again this was a recall issue and the work had to be done for free but it was not free to pay the Nissan technician to replace the Ptu and plugin the sub harness the technician still got paid so they had to find a route that was as quick and as cheap as possible. And this piece of shit sub harness was their answer. Thank you nissan hahaha. I agree with you though I have always done this modification on all sub harness cars that did not want to buy a new efi harness
i have a 1990 300zx since t belt and seals were replaced the car started running rough replaced spark plug coils and power transistor car ran fine but then would not start at all changed the old ptu back into car ran but misfire there so put another ptu in car ran again fine but then once again would not start when i opened hood found ptu melted into front timing cover when plugged the old one in once again it immediately got hot extremely hot un plugged cannot seem to find wire diagram as to what may be shorted ....has this happened to any one and if so what was the cause
hello I bought a new ptu with new plugs are the assignments the same? because my car does not start anymore can you help me please? the assignments are the same as the oem ptu. does anyone have a plan? Thank you
the harness is a piggy back the car had an early model ptu and you have a late model one hence the piggy back loom converts it cheers mate

God damn the ver 1 PTU's are such garbage, I am on my third.. I think it's time for a PTU relocate and a version 2.

Can loose Ptu plugs cause the z to turn off and not start again🤔 cuse im having an issue with my z32 2+2 where it stalls out and wont start up but would crank if any one knows what causes this issue let me know since I miss driving the car also if some one knows a good shop that works on these cars in The San diego county area i would gladly appreciate it 😭
Yes somtimes that crappy ptu wire get old and when i just move them around my car will start up and somtimes car just cranks no start
