    Thanks for addressing the fit for tall people with long arms. Why Milwaukee won't make big and tall sizes is beyond me. I spend all day bending over and reaching above me, tall sizes are the right size for me. Carhartt gets it but they don't have heated clothing. I've even sent Milwaukee a suggestion on their website asking for big and tall sizes.

    I just got mine XL, no L available until next year. (I tried an L in the Toughshell Jacket, fit snug). A closer fit is probably optimal so the heating is right there. In drivers seat it hits all the spots thocugh.

    You are spot on with the size. I’m 5’8” and and 240lbs, and wide in the shoulders and gut and usually have to get 3x in jackets, to have movement in the arm/shoulder area. I got a 3x tough shell which is a little big, and could probably have fit a 2x but it wouldn’t be comfortable or fit a sweatshirt under it. The 3x is slightly long on me but fits good and has good movement and I could fit a hoodie under if I wanted. I have a few jackets in that same style but even without the heating, it’s warmer than my others hands down.

    I'm 6'3" and wish they had tall options. I originally ordered the XL and it fit well but it left too much space around my belly and back so I couldn't feel the heat at all. I have since returned that and ordered the Large. Now the heating elements make decent contact with my body, however, now the overall length of the jacket is pushing it in size... We will see how it goes but I just wish they had an LT or XLT options. Carhartt has those sizes but doesn't have heated gear. Oh well!

    I have the Toughshell jacket which I bought 2 years ago. It works ok but too heavy and cumbersome.
    I recently bought the Axis vest which I love. I usually wear the vest over a hoodie and under a jacket, seems to work great. I have more ease of movement with the vest and its light weight.

    I bought mine last week and ended up returning it. First of all it was a large and my jacket fit like an extra large. That was the fully loaded jacket with the hard material. I think that the heating system is pretty much a gimmick because most people get hot in jackets and like me I am a snowmobiler and just to have it on to do things outside before a ride or showing snow I get hot anyways. I did try on the access jackets and the arms did show way smaller than the size they are. The large fit like a kid's medium and I was like who's making these jackets and the patterns they Stitch together.

    Great video, thank you! How does the the Axis compare with the Tough Shell in terms of general warmth/thickness without the heat on? Just wondering if it is a step up and more of a winter coat than the Tough Shell or if they’re about the same.

    • @WrenchesRides
      @WrenchesRides Год назад +1

      So far on low, I have got 23 hours out of the 3Ah battery. I have yet to have the weather to sustain high for more than an hour. I suspect 3 to 6 hours on high, but that will depend on how much heat is needed.

  • @histguy101
    @histguy101 Год назад +3

    I could never wear one of these. I get so hot already, sometimes even in below freezing conditions.
    Now if they made heated gloves that attached to this jacket like kids mittens attach to kids winter coats, I'd buy the whole thing just for the gloves.
    Or how about M12 heated steel toe work boots. The battery could insert by your ankle.
    Otherwise, Milwaukee heated jackets are for supervisors and lead contractors that stand around and watch and drink coffee

      I'm a journeyman HVAC installer I wear the older heated jacket during the winter, wear battery powered socks, and don't stand around all day watching.
      I've found if you just leave it in low all day it gets warm but not warm enough to make you sick.

      I have a video out about the Milwaukee Jacket being the most complained about item on our channel. First, you might have a faulty one, but the biggest issue that most people do is try to use this jacket over top of a hoodie or a sweatshirt. That is like trying to heat your house from the outside wall through the insulation. You need to have this jacket close to your skin and let the insulation keep the heat in. On high, you will get very warm if you wear it like this. With that said, it does not work for everyone to wear just this jacket. That is why we recommend the vest.

    I don't think I've ever been in the cold and went... "Sure wish my shoulders and neck were warm"
    I have gone "sure wish my finger, toes, chest, and balls were warm."

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  Год назад +4

      Your fingers/toes/and other items are cold because your body temp is dropping and blood is restricted from those areas so the important parts of your body remain the correct temperature. Your neck area is one of the fastest ways to get heat into your body. Warming that area helps to warm the blood going to your brain and it will help to open the arteries to the rest of your body.

  • @strykerentllc
    @strykerentllc Год назад +1

    Good overview.
    Kinda weak they didn't put heating elements in the pocket areas and adding gussets to the back at the arm/shoulder area to allow more articulation in the arms when reaching across or bending over. The hoodie and jacket combo will get annoying in a vehicle as the additional hood will cause pressure on the back of the neck--something that's common when doing the hoodie/jacket combination. Battery placement would've been better if it were placed on the chest area instead of down low where seat belts are going to ride directly over the battery.

    • @WrenchesRides

    The real Axis jacket got discontinued for men but not for women, this one is the Toughshell one which isn’t that hot, plus if you wear any undergarment you won’t feel the heat at all.
    Called the factory several times about data in those jackets and neither Milwaukee or their reps know squat.

    Oh, I really do not recommend buying it, his size is very ill-fitting, and felt uncomfortable in it. I went back to Amazon for a long time and finally found the ECIFEE brand, it comes in many sizes and has a zipper on the side of the body where you can adjust the size yourself, I bought it and tried it on and it fit me especially well, now I wear it on walks and weekend camping trips, it heats up really fast and lasts a long time.

    Buy the tightest fit you can buy, because if the coils are not pressing up against the body, you are not going to get the benefit of the heat. Loose fitting wearing a sweatshirt underneath it isn't going to work. Tight, tight, tight is the way to go. Can't find one that fits this way ... don't buy it. You won't be happy. I took my XL back and got a L.
