I love these for ice fishing and doing barn chores. I run mine on low and just layer like I regularly would for winter. The added warmth really makes a difference! Pop a couple of toe warmers in the boots, and pretty much no weather is too cold. Thanks for all the videos!
You should do “weather proof car covers”. A lot of them claim to last but they never do! People are always trying to find a good ones, But they don’t last with wind and sunshine.
Video Idea: Hearing protection. There are so many nowadays that implement electronics (speakers/bluetooth/noise cancelling/etc) and I wonder if any are worth spending the extra money compared to a good basic set of muffs or even plugs.
I have a 50$ pair of 3M worktunes they are amazing and I have had them for over a year the hearing protection is great and they are very rugged and strong I have worn them in the rain, snow and in over 100°F temperature and they have never had a problem the battery lasts much longer than I expected at an average run time somewhere around 30-40 hours before needing a charge the fitment is great my only complaint about them is they will move around and need adjusting every once in a while and the single button is sometimes a little weird to use otherwise no issues I would highly recommend especially in loud areas as you can't hear anyways so listening to music or a podcast won't really change your awareness I use them when working or even if its just cold outside and while the decibel limiter is cool it kinda kills bass but to me its well worth the upgrade and increased hearing protection
Thank you for taking the time to do this!! I'm looking to buy a heated jacket for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I've read sooo many reviews and can't decide. This video has helped so much. I'm going with the Ororo ;-)
I’ve had an Ororo for about 3 years now and still love it. I got a vest that way I could layer on top of it. It’s got a heating pad right at the neck and it is life changing. I mainly use mine for hunting but have used it in other applications and if you are on the fence about it, do yourself a favor and get one!
Smart move on the vest... I have the jacket and it is rubbish. Might work for cool-ish temperatures with light breeze but definitely not a winter jacket or something you would even wear on a windy autumn day. Wish I could transfer the heat system in a good quality jacket and actually get something out of it. (anything below freezing and the thing is completely useless.)
Yeah, I would guess these are less helpful for when you're working, but more for when you're doing an activity where you need to remain still. Like on a stand. Or I guess if you're one of those people that holds the stop/slow sign out on a highway somewhere in the mountains :)
@@roccit A vest, or hoodie, or any other heated base layer can be used to enhance the performance of a quality, technical winter garment you wear over it, which is better at retaining heat, therefore instead of all of it escaping right out the outside panels like they do on the Ororo; you benefit from the generated heat. (and might actually make the medium and low settings useful...) The jacket is too bulky to wear under something else and is really not very good as a stand-alone at anything below 10c (50F) I HATE it. Truly a piece of low quality import garbage. A good idea, very poorly executed.

Yes, but that is me with every Project Farm video. I just enjoy seeing how he tests things. Great stuff. 99.9% of the stuff he tests isn't even available in my country.
Me! They don’t fit. All of them are like putting a tent on my body. 😂😂 well. All the ones they had in stock any way. Makita and Milwaukee. Haven’t tried in the Bosch yet.
Switched from the DeWalt to the Milwaukee and thought I had made the best decision I could. Well I ended up buying the ororo as a daily casual jacket and it turned into my daily and work jacket. Best decision ever. I now have 2 of the ororo jackets and the vest.
I've had the M12 Milwaukee jacket for three winters now. A couple of years ago I ordered a 12v barrel connector and spliced it into wire with an SAE connector running to the charge adapter connected to my motorcycle battery. Unending warm wintertime motorcycling now. Its been and continues to be a great jacket. Bought the wife one too. She loves the heated pockets for those cool nights in autumn at high school football games.
I have been wanting one for a while but sometimes I ride for long times. I haven't wanted to buy one cause if I'm on a cruiser I'll be gone for a long time and don't want my battery to die, but I also do alot back roads on an old enduro that runs on 6 volts so I didn't want to invest in either
The only missing variable to this test was creating a radiating core, at normal body temp, to reflect the heat while the elements were on. Phenomenal work!
Iv had my milwakee for about 2 years now. Absolutely love it. I love milwakee tools so having the same m12 battery is great. Also sitting down I don't notice it much and it is nice having it in the back so that when i lean across a fender or something I'm not laying on the battery. They don't last long but from my experience by the time the battery is dead I can't feel my fingers or everything else is cold so it's break time anyway so it works out. Great info!
I just bought the NEW Milwaukee Toughshell jacket for $199.99. (October 2022) The Milwaukee Toughshell now has upgrades. The new one has 3 level temperature control for 2 separate zones, one of which heats the front pockets as well, and it comes with a Lithium 3.0 (3 amp hour) battery, so it will run on low for 12 hours, not 8. Both the old and new however, have a pass through for the battery pocket, so you can put the battery at the 7-8 o'clock position as he showed, or stuff it through the pass through and put it in the front pocket as well. Milwaukee also makes a similar jacket (NOT the hoodie) called the Axis with three zone heating like the Toughshell, but the third zone is on the shoulders, not the front pockets. It also sells for $20 more at $219.99. I bought my Toughshell after being jealous of a close friend that's a construction worker. He has had it for 2 years now and has not had a single issue. He has the style tested here, and has loved it from day one, and we live in the winter hell of Wisconsin, not a temperate climate state. You still have to dress accordingly, but this helps A LOT. Hope this helps someone considering buying. The new 3.0 is totally worth it for both the extra power and/or run time depending on what you need on that particular day, and for $200, makes it one of the best "investment" purchases I've made in a while, because it just makes everything better and easier in all but the very worst conditions.
It's pretty funny that the power tool companies make heated jackets, and expect you to use the same bulky-ass batteries from their power tools. And to add insult to injury, you also need a bulky-ass adapter to connect the battery to the jacket. The only battery that made sense was the Ororo.
I much prefer having the ability to swap in a new fully charged battery when wearing it for an extended period of time. I have a Milwaukee jacket and don't own any of their power tools. The ability to replace a battery by going to the hardware store when it doesnt hold a charge anymore is also a nice feature. The M12 battery isn't very bulky and I can wear the jacket in the car without issue. The side lower back placement doesn't get in the way much at all.
I’m not sure where he purchased his Milwaukee jacket from. Mine was only $212.00 from the hardware store and it came with a battery and also a mail-in for an additional free battery.
I have a Milwaukee hoodie and hated the batteries. Bought a snap on hoodie that was heated. Same hoodie. They use a usb battery pack 1” thick 3x4” very slim has a 5v dc out . $78
The Genius isn't that you do reviews but how you do and test them. I was initially wondering how you'll even test these jackets. But as always you never fail to surprise me. True science here sir! Awesome awesome content as always
This was awesome, thank-you so much for all the time and effort you put in this video. I work in a warehouse on a forklift and I often freeze because of the cold in the winter. It gets down to about 35 in there and temperatures are miserable. This told me so much because when you are on a forklift the wind produced is bone chilling. This was so helpful i saved it and will be sending it to co-workers so they can also see.
This man went out and road his bike in the cold to test a sweater that he already tested in the cold freezer. If that doesn’t deserve a subscribe then I don’t know what does lol
I love my dewalt, i use a 4.5ah battery and it fits in the front and also had a rear pocket like the Milwaukee. I wear my dewalt even without the heater on or battery and its still super warm and a great wind break
So, another time when a little research would've gone a long way. I'm seeing the trend in this channel. Everything seems half assed despite the amount effort used when everything is half researched

After a month of using it, I'm absolutely loving it. Very warm, even without turning the heaters on and the heaters on high last me right at 4 hours. Couldn't be happier with a heated jacket and I have you to thank for that.
Thanks, as always, for being so methodical in your testing. Since this review, manufacturers have released newer jackets some of which address the bulkiness of the battery. I look forward to another review that tests the updated versions of these jackets.

11:08 Neighbors will definitely not get bored! "Three months ago, our eccentric neighbor rode with a shower on his car. Now he is riding on the roof of a camper with a jacket and no pants. What's next?" Great stuff!
I have had the Ororo for five years, bought it for sitting in the bleachers for my Kids sporting events. When sitting still is the only time i get cold, this jacket has made being outside in the cold comfortable. Great investment for anyone that hates freezing , bought my wife the vest to wear under her long parka and she loves it.
Damn excellent review PF!!! Great job and extremely thorough. I'm gettin two Ororo's (men's & womens)... UPDATE: Well, this is one excellent review! On PF's recommendation, I purchased two of the Ororo jackets for multiple reasons clearly shown in PF's review. 1) First was the Ororo jacket's ability to prevent nearly all wind penetration (above the other jackets), providing far better efficiency preventing removal of any heat the jacket generated. 2) Second was the Ororo jacket's ability to shed water better than any of the others, again preventing further heat loss due to moisture penetration. 3) Third was the "Flat Pack" shaped battery located in the front lower left pocket, providing the most comfortable location of all the heated jacket batteries. It was only slightly noticeable in it's concealed pocket. This one feature would be hard to claim for ANY of the other jackets with their much bulkier batteries. 4) Fourth was the proper fit based on the mfgr's sizing chart. When they arrived, the jackets fit perfectly right out of the bag, with more than enough movement to be very comfortable and quite WARM! (this Ororo comes with it's own zippered storage bag - no box needed). 5) Fifth was the cost. At only $150 for such high quality jackets, the Ororo was easily the hands down winner! So much so that I bought TWO... a Medium for my wife (w/pink stripe), and an XL for me (48" chest w/yellow stripe). Even the sleeve length was perfect for both of us....
I live in Iowa and have survived 5 subzero winters with my Mikwaukee jacket. Best investment I've ever made. I even accidentally washed the battery a couple of years ago and its still holds a charge. I have 2 backup batteries for it. I get about 8 hours wear time on a charge on Meduim / low heat.
Great job, appreciate all the hard work that goes into the testing. Love the content, specially with your cousin stopping by to help. Thanks for sharing
I'd love to see a comparison of shipping/packaging tape brands (the kind used to seal off cartons, boxes). So many brands out there making it difficult to find a low cost quality solution for business/office needs. Thanks for the vids!
I bought some cheap stuff, I want to say it was harbor freight, that just peeled right off the box immediately. I too would be interested in this, especially since a lot of places sell both Packing and Shipping tapes and I don't understand the difference.
I bought a Milwaukee jacket a year ago it's nice but wasn't quite warm enough here in Idaho weather. I ended up making an adapter to fit the 18 volt batteries and now it's perfect! Been using it for 6 months now with no issues...everyone said I was going to fry it lol. I do use a leather pouch mounted to my belt to carry the battery.
That’s awesome. But personally man carrying around a bulky 18v battery all day sounds so uncomfortable. It’s almost insane to even consider in my opinion. Compared to a jacket that just runs off lithium battery power banks/bricks which are much much slimmer, less bulky, cheaper(your getting ALOT more battery for your money), have higher capacity cells(same weight; more juice) and since they’re actually designed for your pocket they fit well, unlike 18 or 12v batts for drills.

This is probably the only channel on youtube i've watched every single video multiple times. Even when you don't have a new weekly video out, i rewatch the old ones.
Thanks for sharing. However, a new one is out every Sunday.
I do t always remember what I learned on project farm, but I remember he did a video on it so I go back and watch it again before I make a purchase.
I have no need for a heated jacket, but love watching all your videos. Good testing methods to remove subjectivity.
Thanks for watching!
I love these for ice fishing and doing barn chores. I run mine on low and just layer like I regularly would for winter. The added warmth really makes a difference! Pop a couple of toe warmers in the boots, and pretty much no weather is too cold. Thanks for all the videos!
You are welcome. Thanks for the feedback.
You should do “weather proof car covers”. A lot of them claim to last but they never do! People are always trying to find a good ones, But they don’t last with wind and sunshine.
Gli_Fahrenheit I agree. I bought 2 car covers that were supposed to last 10 years outside but after 5 years they disintegrated. Take care.
From my experience, noise cancelling earbuds don't do well with sharp loud noises like dropping metal onto concrete.
i am using airpods pro for hearing protection and it works great
Also test frequency response, especially bass. All the earmuffs I’ve seen have headphone functionally as a afterthought, and use cheapsy drivers.
@@SethMethCS Yeah definitely but I'm not too worried about bass I just don't want to go deaf
Thank you for taking the time to do this!! I'm looking to buy a heated jacket for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I've read sooo many reviews and can't decide. This video has helped so much. I'm going with the Ororo ;-)

Thank you and hope you enjoy the video!
I did. I have 2 millwaukee jackets and just wanted to see if i made the right choice! I need to learn to not buy things until you post a video haha!
Cousin Eddie is my kinda guy. Up for anything and easy to chill out with as well.

I'm thinking the m12 may be just right

I just bought the NEW Milwaukee Toughshell jacket for $199.99. (October 2022)
The Milwaukee Toughshell now has upgrades.

I use dewalt tools but I'd much prefer the Milwaukee m12 jacket for that reson
I have a Milwaukee hoodie and hated the batteries. Bought a snap on hoodie that was heated. Same hoodie. They use a usb battery pack 1” thick 3x4” very slim has a 5v dc out . $78
