This was a badass demonstration. The binding over the rail was the golden nugget here. Much appreciation & respect for the time you put into creating these videos. Your hard work is not unnoticed💪🏼👌🏼✌🏼
"Your lower body is going to be stoked it's meeting up with your upper body" haha awesome tutorial Casey. I just hit my first rail a couple days ago (50-50), now time for a boardslide!!!
Honestly Casey, it is the MOST DETAILED tips I've ever watched on youtube. I'm more of the kind who likes to enter rails 30º, first touching the rail sideways and finish on top, but it's really difficult to get how much of "touching sideways" you gotta put on that. Your tec is much simpler and muuuch much better for begginers. This tutorial was LIT bro, keep them coming.
Yo your teaching skills are legit. Slow, methodical and thorough. I appreciate that you started from explaining the terminology of frontside and backside. I know a lot of your viewers are natural shredders but guys like me need to start from the basics and building a scene from ground up really helps!
This was the most technical tutorial I think I've ever seen for a snowboarding trick. Loved it Casey. You're my positivity compass right now, thanks for doing what you do.
Dude that 90 or not at all tip has made so much sense and has helped tremendously! I couldn’t understand that with my detuned board I was fine all the time and with one of my untouched boards besides contact points, I’ve made some and eaten shit hard other times. 🙏🏼 So much appreciation. Keep doing you bro, you’re killing it. Thank you.
Just dropping by after two years to get started on rails again in 9yrs. This makes me realize why you got your pro model. Thanks for your contribution to the community ;).
Pets just lean forward if its a down rail, basically staying perpendicular to the feature helped me. Catching edges isnt really a thing. Just commit 100% and u got it
Pets what helps me when board sliding a rail is to put my front hand down like in between your feet. It helps keep your center or gravity over the rail or the box and fall a lot less whether you are olling or just riding on
Really awesome discussion of shoulder and body position. That is missing from many trick tutorials and is expected to be picked up by the viewer by watching. Thank you for that!
For me, person who didn’t even try to hit the rail or a box, you guide is sooo understandable, and footage you find is good enough 🤙🏼 Great guide for beginners! TY 👍🏼
You've said in previous videos that your channel isn't really about tutorials but you're explanations and tips are really well thought out and explained. Thanks and I hope to see more
Sweet job mate! You break it down so clear.. Less than a week till I hit the French alps. The biggest tip you give..... Is positively dude!! Believe!! Visualisation!!! Be rocking my clogs stickers that turned up today as well!!! The dream is strong 🤙🙏🥑
Constantly going back to this video while pefecting my backside boardslide skill. Wish Casey could do a Boardslide Pretzel tutorial or Frontboard/Backlip tutorial because this man does the best snowboard tutorial on RUclips.
Definitely gonna put this in my save file, for the 15 hr drive to Breck next week. Thnx Casey, the info, content and advice on keeping the temple in top condition is spot on.
watching this video made me realize why i come in crooked on a boardslide. Feeling really sore from yesterdays sesh but thats not an excuse to not be on a board! Hitting Carinthia Park again with 110%!! Keep making these videos you legend!
Definitely helped as a first full year rider. My park gets destroyed by small children so you end up having to hit it urban style which is a new term I learned as well. You never disappoint Casey 🤙
Dude thank you so much!!!! I watched this before hitting the slopes today and all of your tips were insanely helpful. I started out on a dance floor then a box then by the end of the day was able to rip some board slides on rails without falling off! Thanks so much man, truly appreciate it!!!
"Your lower body is going to be stoked that it's meeting up with your upper body" The best tutorial in history of tutorials bro! So much love for this !!!!!!
This really helped me realize why I wasn't getting good boardslides most of the time! And that doing them on rails first is why it's been so damn intimidating to actually push myself to try them I should have started with boxes 😂. But the couple I got is an amazing feeling.
Careful out there. Rip it up, but remember that you don't always heal. I'm not 40 yet and I hurt every day man. Smashed ankles, knees, elbows, wrists and fingers. Go hard, but remember that your actions will always catch up. Oh yeah, don't forget the helmet. Even wearing a dome I know that I'll never be the same after that one big hit I took.
Finally getting confident with fs 50-50s on urban style round rails. But now I am hoping to lock in some bs boardslides this season. Thank you for the tips and positive vibes 🤙
I like to jump on boardslide, shift onto back binding(so you have a contact point to push off), have your back hand infront of you, push and huck a 270. there are deturials on youtube that helped me!
@@Lovehereafter they are surprisingly easy. The 270 off at the end doesn’t really change anything. Once I started landing back Board on my back foot I could add the 270 easy
The other day I finally starting to feel comfortable doing rails and boxes. Practiced 5050's and my entries are horrible, I take wide turns to control my speed. Also hiking back up takes alot off energy. Edit: I will come back to this video when I start trying boardslides. Awesome tutorial.
Thanks, I love how descriptive you are in your How to do videos, awesome detailed explanation on the board slide. If I didn't watch this video first I would have face planted probably, so easy with the binding over the rail. Please do a How to do video once a month or every couple weeks, thanks again!
Great video my dude! Don't Zeech either I had to step the BP 40 day challenge down to 40 reps a day, but still doing it,HEAVY pow week here! Keep up the stoke! LAGO with the support!
Since you also mentioned it yourself, can you do a video about detuning your edges. Specifically the way you do it. Like that medium sweet spot. For jumps and rails.
Cheers Casey this video was sick very few videos go so thoroughly through the different points giving you adjustments, tips and the process Sick job man!
great tips my man, the shoulder tip for rotation is a nice one most people don't even think about! As always practice will make perfect! time on board is your best friend :) ..... also it's amazing that you're promoting safety while riding, kudos bro
🤙This is absolute great tutorial 🔥. I love your vlogs Case! Please post more tutorials like this. You help us with motivation a lot🙏 Do some tips on how to keep your balance in the air with grabs. And how to do 180/270 in and out on rail.🙏🤙
Yeah, those decks are looking dope AF. When it comes down to it you could shred a 2x4 if you had to. Presses might be a little hard though.. I wanna see some presses, on features Casey. You don't have to do the trick tips but just wanna see some steezy ones. That new board should help. Good tips. Best part 12:12...gotta make that lower body stoked lolol
perfect video for this week, though I wish I had seen this two months ago before I foolishly smashed my face. definitely had to go back to the basics to get over the fear factor after all that. yeeeewwww!
Great tutorial, I think the approaching the rail parallel will really help, just one question: how do you work on keeping your balance directly over your board especially when the takeoff onto the rail/box is very steep. I have a bad habit of sliding out because of poorly shifting my weight in that transition (and not approaching parallel) that also comes up in doing 180s/360s where I always land leaning too far uphill. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
love the vids thanks dude! going to Park City in 2 weeks def gonna give the boardslide another shot. Was eating shit a few weekends ago trying before i saw the vid! #stoked
Sick video I’m fine on flat rails and boxes but am not sure how to go about hitting rails facing down hill I feel like I will slip out unless I put my weight forwards. Should I land a a slight down hill slant or just bend my knees and get my feet on the rail?
My tip is to lean forward. NO not fully leaning forward as in like totally lean in, but enough that your not totally leaning back. When I was learning boardslides that helped me so much.
What I hate about boardslides on snowboards is that if the rail is sticky, you can’t bail off and run it out like on a skateboard. I smacked my chin and ripcage and hip on a sticky rail snowboarding. Wouldn’t have happened on a skateboard. One of the cons of being strapped in
Love the videos! I was wondering what you do with your board as you are going through a kink? It seems like you'd almost have to lift up the front edge of your board slightly to prevent it from catching, though lifting any of the edges on a rail seems like bad news bears. What do you think?
Hi Casey, thanks so much for making this video. I love how you've considered every aspect to learning a boardslide and especially how you explained how you can use your ankle to avoid catching an edge. Definitely quality content which reflects your high level of snowboarding. The one thing that confuses me (not just in your video but in general), would learning a boardslide popping from the toe edge be a different trick? Is it more difficult to do that?
Sooo happy to hear that! Thank you so much!! And deff was harder, that’s a frontside lip slide and you have to be careful of your edge when you pop over
Casey Willax thank you so much for explaining !! I decided to focus on learning it from the heels first, although will have to learn to backside 50-50 first too to be able to do it on a rail. Even if it takes longer it will be a safer progression!! Better to be patient and enjoy the process 😊
This was a badass demonstration. The binding over the rail was the golden nugget here. Much appreciation & respect for the time you put into creating these videos. Your hard work is not unnoticed💪🏼👌🏼✌🏼
Stoked!!
"Your lower body is going to be stoked it's meeting up with your upper body" haha awesome tutorial Casey. I just hit my first rail a couple days ago (50-50), now time for a boardslide!!!

I know im gonna bust my ass a bunch of times, but im dedicated to learn to board slide boxes and rails this season.

You got it it’s really easy! I’m 12 and it’s my second season and I’m working on boardsliding a down flat down tube right niw
Pets just lean forward if its a down rail, basically staying perpendicular to the feature helped me. Catching edges isnt really a thing. Just commit 100% and u got it

Yes dude stoked it helped out!!
Before you land on the rail, have a look at the end of the rail, thats where your going
Thanks for the good tips! Im gunna think about that tomorrow
