thank you for this. if I were to set a keyframe for the offset in the time settings and then bake sound to f curves. that should work to make the ripple animation only happen when it's reacting to sound?
Subbed. Very cool. Now.....if only there were a way to do this and create accurate interference patterns with multiple rain drops. You can easily add additional drops, but the patterns aren't anywhere near accurate when the ripples interfere with one another. Now....that would be cool, but way way beyond my level. (insert challenge for creator here).

In theory, yes. I would recommend plugging the f curve into the amplitude
