    For those who refer to Lenovo official manual said that the second slot SSD need to be m.2 2242, I just install the M.2 2280 2TB ssd into my Legion 5 (15ACH6H), its totally can fit into my laptop and run smooth with no problem at all, just stick with 2TB rather than 1TB .

      The specs sheet limits are understated most of the time and you can most likely go past them.
      RAM:
      > It says up to 16gb but I currently have 64GB in my Legion 5 2020 and it runs just fine.

      > It says 1TB but I currently have a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB in my slot 1 and Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB in my slot 2. Both are working very good (Pcie is backwards compatible so even though our laptop can only support Gen 3 drives, Gen 4 still works but they'll be running at Gen 3 speeds. Quick question Would there be any need to clone the data of a brand new laptop that's been recently bought and hasn't been used yet if you're upgrading the nvme storage? Because I would think that since it's a brand new laptop all I would think you'd have to do once you bought the new laptop is to take off the back plate put in the new nvme, screw it all back together then power it on for the first time to then format it to become usable as solid state drive am I right or wrong? Not all NVME’s are getting hot, idepend on two factors

      Yes it can. I have a Legion 5 2020 with the Ryzen 7 4800H and like the 2021 model, they only support up to Gen 3 but since pcie is backwards compatible it should still work.
      I have a 980 Pro 1TB installed in my Slot 1 and a 970 EVO PLUS 2TB in my Slot 2. The 980 Pro works just fine.
      Disadvantage:
      > you can't reach Gen 4 speeds (7000mbps). It'll max out at 3500-4000mbps (the theoretical maximum for Gen 3).
      Advantage:

    Hey i have this laptop, but i have the samsung 980 pro m.2 SSD in my ps5 which is a gen 4 SSD, can the gen 4 m.2 SSD be installed into the legion lenovo 5? I noticed the 500 GB one is a pcie gen3 one ?

    • @mediocritycentral
      @mediocritycentral 2 года назад +1

      Advantage:
      > it'll run cooler than most Gen 3 drives because it's not running as hard.

    is legion 5 support for M.2 nvme pcie gen 4?

    • @mediocritycentral
      @mediocritycentral 2 года назад

      pcie is backwards compatible so yeah you can put in a Gen 4 drive but it will only run on Gen 3 speeds (the Legion 5 2020 supports up to Gen 3). The disadvantage is for example for a Samsung 980 Pro you can't have its 7000mbps speeds (it'll max out at 3500-4000mbps) but the advantage is that it'll run wayyyy cooler than a Gen 3 drive.
