    I took me a little over 4 hours to get the bottom cover off safely. I build desktops as a side gig. I have all professional tools, anti static pads, etc. And it was the hardest cover I ever had to remove. Make sure everything works properly before completely reinstalling cover, and upgrade it to the absolute maximum you desire, because you never, ever want to remove it again. Hardest laptop by far to open in my experience. I had to stop several times to take a break for sanity sake. That was crazy.

      Bro I'm with you. After a little over 3 hours I gave up. There was too much risk to damaging the little brackets that kept the cover in place. I'm still under warranty. So I took it to a buddy that does work on laptops, and she was like: "no, no, no, I ain't messing with those!"
      So I'm just rocking it stock I guess. Maybe after warranty I'll try. I have all professional equipment for this type of thing. Good for you for making it. Lenovo should offer a challenge: get the cover off in less than 4 hours without doing any damage whatsoever and win a laptop carry case.

Otherwise it will make more restriction to the air flow and it will be cooling down even worse. Hope this will help!

      Yes, absolutely. The only thing is, if you want to keep your original Windows, you would need to clone your operating system from the 512GB M.2 NVMe drive to a new 2TB drive. Yo man, you probably won't reply to this comment, but I am looking to buy an nvme with a heatsink of dimensions: (80.5 mm [L] x 25.15 mm [W] x 8.88mm [H]). Do you know if this heatsink can fit into the laptop?

    • @PulsarTECH
      @PulsarTECH  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, an 8.88m height is likely to be at the edge of what's possible to fit, but it might work. I haven't measured the exact available height, but considering the pre-existing heatsink that I removed, you probably won't be able to install a much bigger heatsink than the one already existing. I would suggest looking for an SSD with a slim heatsink, like the S50 Lite or a similar model. Let me know if you decide to go with a different SSD and how it works out.

      @PulsarTECH  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi, M.2 is a form factor for SSDs and NVMe stands for Non-Volatile Memory Express. It is a protocol designed specifically for SSDs to leverage the high-speed PCIe bus.
      So this particular model supports two M.2 NVMe 2280 size. I've tried only up to 2TB but I've heard that it works with 4TB as well no problem.

    For those who refer to Lenovo official manual said that the second slot SSD need to be m.2 2242, I just install the M.2 2280 2TB ssd into my Legion 5 (15ACH6H), its totally can fit into my laptop and run smooth with no problem at all, just stick with 2TB rather than 1TB .

    Good afternoon. Notebook Legion 5 15IMH05. After installing NVMe m.2 1TB samsung 980, the laptop freezes for a couple of seconds during login. And then it works fine. I noticed that this happens only when the laptop from nvidia is turned on. When it is (automatic selection / discrete) this does not happen. What is the problem and how "dangerous" is it? (this was not the case before installing m2) Thank you.

    • @PulsarTECH
      @PulsarTECH  Год назад +1

      Hi, it shouldn't be dangerous but my guess it has something to do with the drivers for this SSD. It could also be a BIOS issue, you might need to update the BIOS to the latest version. You can do it thru Lenovo Vantage but be careful updating BIOS might be risky if something goes wrong. I try not to touch it if everything is working but in your case it might be solution. Also if you have just bought this SSD and can still return it and get another one like Adata, then you cna try that. Hopefully it will work for you. Let me know how it goes!
