I'm a Tech newbie, about to buy a Legion Pro 5. I've seen other videos with a 13700HX CPU that couldn't handle the 5600mzh 2x32GB. Should i buy the 13900HX for the 5600mzh or should i just to for the 4800mzh RAM? And does the warranty from lenovo expire when i modify the laptop? Hope you can help me out! :)
Hi, as a tech newbie considering purchasing a Legion Pro 5, you might want to carefully consider your options regarding the CPU and RAM configuration. The choice between the 13700HX and 13900HX CPUs largely depends on your specific needs and budget. While the 13900HX may offer better performance for tasks that require high processing power, such as gaming or video editing, it also comes at a higher cost. If you believe you'll benefit from the additional processing power and can afford it, the 13900HX could be a worthwhile investment. Regarding the RAM speed, opting for 4800mhz RAM may be a safer choice if you're concerned about compatibility issues with the 5600mhz RAM. While higher RAM speeds can theoretically offer better performance, they may not always be fully supported or optimized by all CPUs and motherboards. Therefore, choosing the 4800mhz RAM could potentially reduce the risk of compatibility issues and ensure smoother operation. As for the warranty from Lenovo, modifying the laptop, such as upgrading components like RAM or storage, usually does not void the warranty, but if you're worried, you can consult with their customer support to understand how modifications may impact your warranty coverage. Hope it will help!
Quick question, would the results be the same for a legion lenova 5 2022 model? 🙏 I'm generally curious since I would like to upgrade a few parts soon *this one uses ddr5, I can share the rest of the specs 🙂*
Hi, if you have a ddr5 memory it should be even faster than dd4, at least in theory. As far as the memory size, I'm happy about this upgrade because now the laptop doesn't run out of memory even during most demanding projects in Premiere Pro and honestly it uses way more memory now which makes me think that before it was trying to shrink memory usage due to its lack.
@@PulsarTECH thank you so much for the response, and actually, I do have ddr5, I'll share the specs 🙂 since again I really want to upgrade this thing to the max, but I haven't found any videos that uses the 2022 model AMD ryzen 7 6800H, 3.2 GHz processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 16 GB ddr5-4800 ram 1TB ssd 165 hz and a 1080 display *pretty good stuff I'm honestly impressed with*
@@PulsarTECH hell yeah 🙂😁 I honestly would like to max it out, especially when it comes to playing games that are coming out soon, like the dead space remake and resident evil 4 remake,
Hi Paul, good question! The OS is not limited to 32GB of RAM, for a 64-bit OS one can have up to terabytes of RAM. But on this particular laptop due to the the amount of memory slots and maximum size per memory module, one can only have 64GB at max.
some sites don't give out information about the rank of the ram. How can i know which rank of ram im buying. Im not specifically looking for the same ram as yours since i dont have it my country.
Hi, that's true and in case for the 8GB RAM modules you can't say a 100% but usually anything more than 8GB such as 16 & 32GB RAM sticks are dual rank. Less than 8GB most likely single rank. Hope this helps!
@@lovechcitizen4448 no necessarily. The difference in performance is not much between the dual and single rank. Better look for a higher frequency (like 3200 MHz is optimal), and lower CAS latency. But in reality, we are not talking about a huge increase in performance. If you don't do benchmark tests everyday, it's will be hard to notice any difference in performance. But on another hand more capacity is really helpful.
A quick question. I just upgraded my SSD's. Should I get a heatpad for the new second NVMe SSD (and if yes, where can I buy one)? On the left side I only had a tray for a sata SSD which I removed so I can install the second NVMe SSD.
If there's another M.2 NVMe slot then you can install it. You can use the default heat sink that comes with the laptop or if there's one on an SSD already just use it. If your SSD came without the the heat sink, I would recommend looking for one in any computer store online.
have you try to upgrade the nvme or the sata? In the lenovo manual it say up to 2tb both slot max, I have seen videos that people put 2tb on the extra nvme slot so idk what is the actual max memory capacity or what is the max sata capacity you can use
I think you can actually go higher the max is just the tested stable maximum lenovo tried in factories, just like the manual says only 32gb ram is supported but you can use 64gb I think even 128gb would work (but that is overkill) and I think you could even put 2, 4tb nvme's in and they would work fine it's just that lenovo didnt 'test' it
Hi, the manual states up to 32GB, but if you search for the maximum RAM supported by Intel's 10th Gen Core i7 mobile processors, it says 64GB is possible. I believe it can handle 64GB, just like mine. AMD and Intel try to stay competitive, so I don't think it's likely that a same-tier processor from AMD can handle 64GB of RAM while Intel cannot. But, of course, you can verify this information with the genius tech support. Hope this helps!
Hi, I have the same Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H and it supports 64 gigabytes of RAM. For some reason, the manufacturer doesn't specify this in their documentation. I think this is the same case for you.
@@PulsarTECH thanks for aswer, but look that my laptos is Legion 5 Pro 16ACH6H and your laptop is 15ACH6H. i dont know if that have big change. when you put this comand in CMD, there said how much you can. what there said please, to comparate and get a solution because i wold like get 64gb ram
@@sandoxxx7623 yes, same as mine, then it should support 64GB of RAM. Plus you've got a Pro version of the laptop, so I think it should be even more sophisticated than non-Pro version like mine.
For this laptop, 3200MHz is the maximum supported RAM speed. While there are modules available at 3600MHz or 4266MHz, they may be hard to find and may not work at their rated speeds. In reality, for DDR4 RAM, speeds higher than 3200MHz are generally unnecessary.
@@PulsarTECH much appreciated ! I did see that bios doesn’t have any xmp profiles (unless there’s been an update since) just wasn’t sure if amd worked a bit different with memory than intel in the past. So much hoopla about 1 rank and 2 rank and then later showing co fusing results I never quite figured out if it actually makes much difference. Is it still running stable? I have the 16 inch model (16ach6h) with the same 5800H. I saw some users report instability at 64 gb ram. I frequently crash out on 32gb when I run simulations and ddr4 is cheap now. thank you
Hi, it's rock solid. I'm running Premiere Pro renders frequently and it makes my CPU happy, it works way less than with 16GB. 16GB is a bare minimum nowadays, 32GB is okay for most users but since it's not an expensive upgrade anymore, why not use all of the potential of 64GB.
@@PulsarTECH cool good to know. I also noticed the official Lenovo store started selling 16ach6h with 64gb ram "professionally upgraded" on Amazon. Despite their website still saying that it's not officially supported. They were probably trying to move old stock after Ryzen 6000 came out. Thanks for the info I'm gonna go through with the upgrade.
Update: it's been running rock solid on 64GB ram for over 1 year now. I bought: "Corsair Vengeance Performance SODIMM 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL22 Unbuffered" which was marketed for Ryzen 4000 series laptops but it works perfect. Just order the ram and pop it in. It's that easy
It depends what laptop you have. Most laptops can handle 32Gb with ease, gaming laptops can work with 64GB, some lower end laptops have RAM soldered on the motherboard without possibility for expansion.
Hi, the Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH-PGO laptop is officially listed as supporting a maximum of 32GB of RAM. While it's not uncommon for users to try exceeding the officially stated limits, attempting to install more RAM than officially supported can lead to unpredictable behavior, and the system may not recognize or utilize the additional capacity. Check if anyone else has confirmed that 64GB is working on your specific model, or ensure that you can return the RAM to the seller if it doesn't work. Let me know how it goes.

Hi, make sure that your laptop supports PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Lenovo Legion laptops 2021 only have PCIe 3.0 but since PCIe 4.0 is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0, you can still use it with that laptop as well. If the price is the same I would choose the PCIe 4.0. But the latest PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs are pretty expensive.

I have exact same laptop, recently I bought a 16gb 3200mhz gskill ram, but when I turn on the laptop it works normal. But after a shutdown it doesn't boot, If I force shut down again, and turn it on again it works fine, but after next shutdown it doesn't work and the loop is going on and on. What could be the problem?
If this started after installing new RAM, most likely it's related to new RAM. Double check if it's installed properly. Are you using 2 different sticks of RAM of different size? Or just one?

Your laptop appears quite similar to mine, albeit one year newer and equipped with an Intel processor. While I don't anticipate any compatibility issues with this RAM on your laptop, it's challenging to predict definitively as compatibility depends on various factors. Nevertheless, there's a good chance it will function without issues.
@@PulsarTECH my legion 5 with rtx 4060 that I just got via a open box sale from best buy last week never goes above 70c even when using 100% GPS usage!!!
@@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs are you talking about the GPU? My GPU is also chilled like 50-60C but the CPU is very hot. I have just serviced it, and cleaned the fans, doesn't make to much difference but at least it can breathe easier now.
@@PulsarTECH the cpu and gpu on my laptop tend to run max 70c but as of lately though I've been starting to spot max temps around 200 Fahrenheit which I've since switched to Fahrenheit and I believe that is close to 100c the problem is the averages are typically way lower and its hard for me to spot just when their hitting these high temps and for how long they're staying there. I think its rarely hitting those temps and has to do with giving the laptop room to breath. I've noticed now when I prop the rear of the laptop up a lil giving the fans more room for intake it tends to run way way cooler and goes back to never going above around 150degree Fahrenheit aka 75celcius so air flow obviously plays a huge role. My laptop is fairly new to me but was a open box deal and when I did some research I found its already a year and a half old from date of manufacture and had 8 cycles on the battery when new 1 or 2 cycles likely were from me though. That being said I've been debating whether it makes sense to take apart the laptop and repaste the Nvidia gpu die and amd apu and to put new and better paste and pads where needed maybe even switch to liquid metal for the gpu and apu. Its a lenovo legion 5 slim gaming laptop and I imagine they likely use decent quality thermal paste and pads from the factory. I did already clean out dust from the inside when I went to upgrade the second m.2 slot to a new 4tb ssd card a week ago.
Ps the temps tend to mostly get high on my memory readings so likely the pads on my vram either need replacing upgrading or might not have pads at all. I have to research that a bit but the memory is whats constantly hitting 200c now the rest is a tad bit lower when I go into gpuz to check max temps after gaming sessions. The max typically for the gpu and hot spot are around 180f or 90c but the average will be around 120f to 140f or 60c to 70c during a hard-core fully gpu usage gaming session.
This one supports only DDR4 memory, but if you have newer models, like those from 2023 or 2024, I believe they have DDR5 memory. So, yes, the type of memory it supports depends on the model's year of manufacture.
Sir, i have lenovo legion 5 core i7 gen11, can my laptop upgradeable until 64gb ? because i'm using premiere pro and im gonna use davinci resolve as my new video editing software....???
32GB would be sufficient for the most cases but if you're doing video editing, 3D work then the more the better. I would rather wait and get the 64GB because then you won't have to throw away the 32GB if you want to upgrade to 64GB. But of course it all depends on your goals.

@@bramin420 I haven't noticed any problems with memory temperature, in fact I never even look at it. The processor can get pretty hot up to 100C, so I had to get an additional cooling pad for my laptop, now it works cooler. Also I try to avoid the performance mode especially when it's hot outside because than it can really get hot and throttle. I've got a short on my channel for cpu temperature monitoring.
No ,it's not but if you're doing anything like video editing or 3D work then the laptop can benefit from having extra amount of RAM as you can tell from the video. I think 32GB is plenty for 90% of the cases but since the RAM prices are pretty acceptable then why not use it. I'm sure if it will be possible to get 128GB of RAM on a laptop such programs as Adobe Premiere Pro could use it for example when working with 4K or higher footage.
Hi, whether a laptop supports 64GB of RAM depends on its specific hardware and motherboard design. You should check the laptop's specifications or user manual to confirm the maximum supported RAM capacity. What is the exact model and year of your laptop?

Quick question, would the results be the same for a legion lenova 5 2022 model? 🙏 I'm generally curious since I would like to upgrade a few parts soon *this one uses ddr5, I can share the rest of the specs 🙂*
Hi, if you have a ddr5 memory it should be even faster than dd4, at least in theory. As far as the memory size, I'm happy about this upgrade because now the laptop doesn't run out of memory even during most demanding projects in Premiere Pro and honestly it uses way more memory now which makes me think that before it was trying to shrink memory usage due to its lack.
@@PulsarTECH thank you so much for the response, and actually, I do have ddr5, I'll share the specs 🙂 since again I really want to upgrade this thing to the max, but I haven't found any videos that uses the 2022 model
AMD ryzen 7 6800H, 3.2 GHz processor
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6
16 GB ddr5-4800 ram
1TB ssd
165 hz and a 1080 display *pretty good stuff I'm honestly impressed with*
@@razorchance6976 good stuff, I would go with 64GB of memory if you want to max it out or at least 32GB depending on a budget.
@@PulsarTECH hell yeah 🙂😁 I honestly would like to max it out, especially when it comes to playing games that are coming out soon, like the dead space remake and resident evil 4 remake,
Can you actually upgrade to 64gb os is 32gb the max
@@PulsarTECH ok so any brand thats dual rank will give me a better performance than the stock ram?
@@lovechcitizen4448 no necessarily. The difference in performance is not much between the dual and single rank. Better look for a higher frequency (like 3200 MHz is optimal), and lower CAS latency. But in reality, we are not talking about a huge increase in performance. If you don't do benchmark tests everyday, it's will be hard to notice any difference in performance. But on another hand more capacity is really helpful.
is there a video on upgrading the victus laptop ram to 64gb?
On what bios version are you?
A quick question. I just upgraded my SSD's. Should I get a heatpad for the new second NVMe SSD (and if yes, where can I buy one)? On the left side I only had a tray for a sata SSD which I removed so I can install the second NVMe SSD.
If there's another M.2 NVMe slot then you can install it. You can use the default heat sink that comes with the laptop or if there's one on an SSD already just use it. If your SSD came without the the heat sink, I would recommend looking for one in any computer store online.
have you try to upgrade the nvme or the sata?
In the lenovo manual it say up to 2tb both slot max, I have seen videos that people put 2tb on the extra nvme slot
so idk what is the actual max memory capacity or what is the max sata capacity you can use
I think you can actually go higher the max is just the tested stable maximum lenovo tried in factories, just like the manual says only 32gb ram is supported but you can use 64gb I think even 128gb would work (but that is overkill) and I think you could even put 2, 4tb nvme's in and they would work fine it's just that lenovo didnt 'test' it
Legion 5 15IMH05H Does it support an upgrade to 64GB of RAM?
Hi, the manual states up to 32GB, but if you search for the maximum RAM supported by Intel's 10th Gen Core i7 mobile processors, it says 64GB is possible. I believe it can handle 64GB, just like mine. AMD and Intel try to stay competitive, so I don't think it's likely that a same-tier processor from AMD can handle 64GB of RAM while Intel cannot. But, of course, you can verify this information with the genius tech support. Hope this helps!
are the screws on the base cover have the same length?
Hi, good question! No, they are different: 4 at the front are shorter M2 xL4 and 6 at the back and sides are M2 x L11.5. Hope this helps!
@@PulsarTECH thanks

do works for Legion 5 Pro 16ACH6H. thats my laptop. I understand that you can only have up to 32 GB of ram. help please
@@sandoxxx7623 what cpu do you have?
@@PulsarTECH rayzen 5800h
@@sandoxxx7623 yes, same as mine, then it should support 64GB of RAM. Plus you've got a Pro version of the laptop, so I think it should be even more sophisticated than non-Pro version like mine.
What program are you using to test the memory speeds?
I'm using Aida64 memory tests.
@@PulsarTECH thanks 👍
Is there a faster memory speed we can upgrade to ? Or any 64gb 3200mhz only ?
For this laptop, 3200MHz is the maximum supported RAM speed. While there are modules available at 3600MHz or 4266MHz, they may be hard to find and may not work at their rated speeds. In reality, for DDR4 RAM, speeds higher than 3200MHz are generally unnecessary.
@@PulsarTECH much appreciated ! I did see that bios doesn’t have any xmp profiles (unless there’s been an update since) just wasn’t sure if amd worked a bit different with memory than intel in the past.
I use mine daily it’s been 2.2 years since purchase light gaming and Davinci resolve. Planning to upgrade to 64gb.
So much hoopla about 1 rank and 2 rank and then later showing co fusing results I never quite figured out if it actually makes much difference. Mine has the 32gb from the factory I heard they were dual rank but not sure 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for the info I'm gonna go through with the upgrade.
hi. did u upgrade to 64gb, i have the Legion 5 Pro 16ACH6H and said that just can upgrade to 32gm RAM. please can u explain to me.
any advice? thanks
Bro! Can i upgrade my ram up to 32 GB even my motherboard only support 16GB of ram?
It depends what laptop you have. Most laptops can handle 32Gb with ease, gaming laptops can work with 64GB, some lower end laptops have RAM soldered on the motherboard without possibility for expansion.
Mine is 81sy(lenovo legion y540-15irh-pgo). It has 16 gb currently with windows 11with i7 9th gen. It says upgradable to 32gb only. Can I do 64gb?
Hi, the Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH-PGO laptop is officially listed as supporting a maximum of 32GB of RAM. While it's not uncommon for users to try exceeding the officially stated limits, attempting to install more RAM than officially supported can lead to unpredictable behavior, and the system may not recognize or utilize the additional capacity. Check if anyone else has confirmed that 64GB is working on your specific model, or ensure that you can return the RAM to the seller if it doesn't work. Let me know how it goes.

Hello, how you choose SSD. What spec need to be? Nvme 3 or 4?
Thanks
Hi, make sure that your laptop supports PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Lenovo Legion laptops 2021 only have PCIe 3.0 but since PCIe 4.0 is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0, you can still use it with that laptop as well. If the price is the same I would choose the PCIe 4.0. But the latest PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs are pretty expensive.
Hello, what is the exact brand and model of the laptop? I want 64 GB too, but I don't know if it supports it. Can you help me with this? Legion 5-15ACH6H Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 82JU - PF3LXSP8
Yes, it's the same model.
Hi, Hello. On the manufacturer's website it says that the maximum RAM is 32 GB. So is it still possible to install 64? Will they work stably?
yes, I've been using 64GB since this video was posted @@DenisRotermel-s7c
When i put everything together my screen just stays black when I turn it on
What memory modules have you installed?
I have exact same laptop, recently I bought a 16gb 3200mhz gskill ram, but when I turn on the laptop it works normal. But after a shutdown it doesn't boot, If I force shut down again, and turn it on again it works fine, but after next shutdown it doesn't work and the loop is going on and on. What could be the problem?
If this started after installing new RAM, most likely it's related to new RAM. Double check if it's installed properly. Are you using 2 different sticks of RAM of different size? Or just one?
I heard some of the msi model is used 64 gb laptop but after a month or 15 days the laptop is turend off because not supporting the ram
. I have lenovo legion 5i 2022 15IAH7H can i upgrade 64 gb with this transcend ram
You cpu is begging for a break man 90c on the cpu sheesh i mean its not outrageous but it is up there!!!
You bet, it is actually reaching up to 102C sometimes. I'm planning to service it soon, all components have arrived, it needs it.
Is possible to using ddr5 48 GB 5600 on this laptop?
This one supports only DDR4 memory, but if you have newer models, like those from 2023 or 2024, I believe they have DDR5 memory. So, yes, the type of memory it supports depends on the model's year of manufacture.
Only applies to ddr4. Ddr5 unfortunately not matter so much
Sir, i have lenovo legion 5 core i7 gen11, can my laptop upgradeable until 64gb ? because i'm using premiere pro and im gonna use davinci resolve as my new video editing software....???
Yes, I think it should support 64GB of RAM on your laptop. Most modern laptops can be upgraded to 64GB of memory without any issues.
isnt 32 enough ? 64 is to high for my budget , the 16 build in i think its getting a lil behind , or wait till black friday and go for 64?
32GB would be sufficient for the most cases but if you're doing video editing, 3D work then the more the better. I would rather wait and get the 64GB because then you won't have to throw away the 32GB if you want to upgrade to 64GB. But of course it all depends on your goals.
@@PulsarTECH Thank you il wait , in few month's im gonna do that when move overseas .. do the sticks with the bad timings cause heat issues too?? its hot lately but still normal with speccy ?? did you exp this after 2nd year of usage?? you have the 5800h i got the 5600h version , yours is the hotter version then mine , il still between 60-70C wich is ok , but it was 40c when i bought it , the country im moving too is like Egypt and thats one of the hottest country there are and i think im getting 70-80 then
🥵
@@bramin420 I haven't noticed any problems with memory temperature, in fact I never even look at it. The processor can get pretty hot up to 100C, so I had to get an additional cooling pad for my laptop, now it works cooler. Also I try to avoid the performance mode especially when it's hot outside because than it can really get hot and throttle. I've got a short on my channel for cpu temperature monitoring.
Is it really necessary to upgrade more than 32 gb ???
No ,it's not but if you're doing anything like video editing or 3D work then the laptop can benefit from having extra amount of RAM as you can tell from the video. I think 32GB is plenty for 90% of the cases but since the RAM prices are pretty acceptable then why not use it. I'm sure if it will be possible to get 128GB of RAM on a laptop such programs as Adobe Premiere Pro could use it for example when working with 4K or higher footage.
