Yeah, the entire design Identity revolves around The Infinity crest. The Headlights are the Wings, the grille is the badge so yeah

The front grill is missing a big superman 'S' on it.
This over sized grille thing..it's like everything these days. Unexplained to is commoners but everyone in the elite circles somehow "knows" that ridiculous grilles are what is now being done. I understand copying, but this is wholly unique and also ridiculous as BMW and Merc. Only Audi has done this well, if boring.

I think Genesis did a great job giving this car its own unique identity. The last G80 was a great car but a bit generic in my opinion. This looks fantastic.

@@mikexcanxjerk I mean if you were to say "draw me a sedan" it would probably look like the old G80. I'm not saying it's bad looking, I actually think it looks good and will age very well. it just doesn't have any standout design features. This redesign changes all of that, inside and out.
@@autocrosseverything the 2015// 2017-2020 g80 is a very attractive car, especially the 2018-2020 g80 sport. It does turn heads. The g80 is better looking than the lexus es350 , better looking than acura , better looking than the q50, up there with e300 based on attractiveness. I dont see any generic, you like recycled bmw exteriors ? They all look the same evey year with subtle differences reallly. Yes the new 2021 stands out a lot but the last gen is indeed beautiful and as you said will aged very well
@@mikexcanxjerk I will agree in the sport trim it was a head turner. Especially in that turquoise blue and the maroon color they offered. The regular sedan just kind of flew under the radar.

As for the regular version , it’s beautiful inside and out, it does not fly under the radar , it has road presence, no way can that car drive by and you wont admire it even just a little , or look at it twice, its not an ugly car whatsoever, whoever says so it a straight up strong hater. You can drive the g80 in rich areas , and it blend very well with the bmws , mercedes , lexus, etccc. Its a true goodlooking luxury car. In terms of attractiveness , its on par. 2017-2020 & this new one.
This is currently one of my favorites. Genesis does the design right and don't rely on all of that touch crap. Premium materials for the price is nice and the looks are gorgeous in and out.
Facts
Own both a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, and 2013 Mercedes C-Class.... Hyundai has literally zero issues, Mercedes dozens of issues so far. The Hyundai's exterior is still in new condition, and Mercedes weather seals have gone bad in certain areas. LOVE GENESIS!
Genesis REALLY succeeded in establishing a clear family look in potential buyers' minds. And they did it with just a few cars that all came out in the space of a year. No small feat.

Like Samsung has already beat Apple several times now Samsung is going to destroy Snapdragon with it's upcoming exynos line up.. like literally south Korean companies are on another level.. like Samsung and lg are going to roll out 6G and by that I mean network not phone... Again it will become first in the world line 5G and currently has fastest 5G network... Samsung built many world's tallest building including Burj khalifa Taipei tower etc and now it is making tallest building in it's own country THE HYUNDAI TOWER...Now Hyundai revealed world's first hydrogen fuel cell car and truck and upcoming futuristic hybrid electric car named IONIQ check it out on YT..Like name it all entertainment industry modern technologies beautiful nature and everything respect to SOUTH KOREA !!!

all I know is the 2019 G80 I drove I think about it all the time and regret not buying it.. one of the most solid cars I have ever driven..

@@onlinealias622 I kept my infiniti up until a couple months ago, bought a mercedes E53, Im happy, and it gets unbelieveable fuel mileage.
I'll say it again Genesis has the best infotainment interface in the market, the minimalist interface of Genesis's infotainment is just out of this world🤯
Love the widescreen infotainment display and everything about the car!

I want a sedan instead of an SUV for a sedan's superior smoothness, handling, performance, silence, braking, mpg, etc.
To answer Yuri and Jacob's question, based on the reviews and a drive of the G90, I'm leaning towards the G90--for its greater size and luxury. The G90's more ergonomic infotainment knob make up for the G80's nicer gauges and self-parking.
I'm attracted by Genesis' luxury, value, and reliability. Quite appealing to value-conscious buyers like me. Thanks again for another fun and informative review.
Just purchased the G80 3.5 RWD. Love it. Excellent value and beautiful. Beats the competition in those areas. Love the GV80 but wanted a sedan for a while.
Fun fact: Horsepower and torque spelled backwards is euqrot dna rewopesroh which means absolutely nothing!

I'm still in love with my 2016 G80 (okay, Genesis 3.8) and cannot tell you how awesome it is to drive. Although I also love the GV80 I cannot fathom trading in the drive experience for an SUV. No way. I do agree that it would be a toss up between a new G70 (coming) and the G80, but I'm not going to underestimate the luxury drive feel I'm now accustomed to.
This is the first car I've seen that actually looks futuristic. Nice
I love the new design of the genesis vehicles it looks very striking and executive. It stands out a lot can really separate them from the competition. They should keep this new design and make it a signature look, like how caddilac and BMW has done

Got a 2016 genesis/g80 few months back, its an amazing car for the price I got it at. Few issues from the previous owner(s) that the dealership isn't too helping on, but still extremely impressed.
Yuri, Jakub, you hands down are the best edited automotive program in the history of the genre. Being able to pause and < > though the frames to really compare/contrast the two styles and even where that Audi shot was amazingly spot on? C'mon. The car companies themselves don't do it that well. Ironically the most thoughtful and luxurious automotive experience isn't an automobile, it's The Straight Pipes. Well done guys! Both of these are on my radar -- while I think I'd probably be able to get a much better deal on a G-80, I do like the GV-80 better.

Hyundai made Genesis in just 5 years. Mind blowing, great quality, great design, great features. And a bargain. Probably not for long 'cause in few years they'll end up in German-Japanese price range, but for now - I'd take it.
Genesis has been around since 2008.

Every Genesis review from the Straight Pipes is a like an early Xmas gift. So far, I'm all in on the GV80 but I'm waiting for pricing and what features I lose on the GV70 to pull the trigger.
It's all about Highway Driving Assist II
This is a very good alternative to the premium brands. The quality, the functionality and the design are quite remarkable for the price. If you could do the direct rival the Lexus LS it would be awesome. Nice and honest content

I quite like the more subtle colors. I feel like it's a testament to how amazing the body design is when it can still look amazing in a ho-hum color. That being said, I want to see someone do a bare-aluminum style art deco 'livery' for this thing.. That would look sooooo good. EDIT: Also lets the interior pop. Gives you a good feeling stepping into an interior like this after being 'greeted' by low expectations.

This looks like the kind of car I'm looking for. A nice comfortable touring car more focused on a smooth quiet ride and not doing laps of Mosport. Still can't afford it though.

Having just moved back from Korea, and seeing the test mule running around Asan-ri, the inspiration of the rear hatch/ trunk design came from the Chevy Malibu. For some reason Koreans love that car.

Seriously though. This looks beautiful. I look at modern cars and ask "What happened?". Like the cars of the 50's and 60's were all just gorgeous. (It's rhetorical. I know what happened. Laws and such changed). But this is one of the few cars that look modern but rooted in that art deco look. Like this car could exist in a futuristic, art deco punk - ish universe and it would not feel out of place.
Genesis made one of the most beautiful (if not the most beautiful) line-ups of this decade! The Genesis family is looking G O R G E O U S! The G70 and GV70 are beautiful; G80 is perfect for my taste; GV80 is freaking amazing, and the G90 just feeds your eyes. I am just waiting for the GV90 - imagine that beast!

In Korea, it's basically a smaller more modern version of the G90... Heated and ventilated [ power adjusting and with memory function ] front and rear seats...
In fact, the G80 has a sort of massage function more like anti-fatigue system...
In Korea, the G80 sells more because it offers more for less
But in N.America, the top end Prestige model they offer is actually the mid-level trim in Asia
Aren't they used more like limousines / car service in Korea? It's not the same target market for North America.

Kia and Hyundai cars in Korea always have way more options. I own a 2009 first gen Hyundai Tucson MXL that I bought from a cousin who lived in Korea a coupe of years and that thing has options that were never available in North America or Europe.
The fact that they only have one suv is 🙏🏻. I’ve been seeing the G70 everywhere. Hopefully this convinces other brands to stop making suvs and make proper saloon cars and wagons. ☺️ I also appreciate their doing old school luxury cars here. Luxury first, sport second.👍🏻

For this car I don't care about it automatically shifting or how much torque it has. It's a luxury tourer in my opinion. It's a serene long road tripping commuter ride. Ans I am fine with that because then you can enjoy the luxurious interior.
In that case the 2.5T that produces 304 horsepower power will suffice.

I got a G70. Loving it. No it’s not a BMW but a BNW is NOT worth ALL the extra money. And I don’t worry about heating some warning chime every time I start the car. Worth every penny
In Korea, Genesis G80 is the best selling car/segment among luxury-brand market.
Order of sales : G80 > E-Class > 5series > A6 > ES ... Basically a Korean version of Mercedes Benz.

I would take this over the BMW 5 series, Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6 and I'm an admitted brand snob. Styling, quality, tech and WARRANTY are the biggest selling points of this Genny. Still, it's probably the GV80 for me... that is the sexiest vehicle on the road at a somewhat attainable price imo... The GV80 is going to be TOUGH to find when it arrives.. Awesome vid gents, as usual. Loved the spice in this one...

Hmmm.. i don’t know.. that green GV80 looks pretty good despite having a dark-ish color. Combine that with a tan interior and you are golden!
This healed my eyes after seeing the new m3 and m4.

Would take G80 over E class, 5 series, A6 and Continental.
But rather take GV80.
