I truly appreciate the way Genesis Brand is literally becoming the new Benchmark. I feel in the near future they will consider a lot of the recent consumer feedback on the Sports trim or rather they all-ready are. The beauty of this is unmatched. I am hoping that they integrate a sportsback feel to upcoming trims, it just makes sense. Nonetheless, this car has my blessing ✨👌🏾
@@Genesiscoupe3000 him and older generations will eventually die out in few years, cuz the newer generations are leaning towards kia, hyundai and genesis, so no worries.
Benchmark for what? Genesis does a GREAT job of design, really great. Unfortunately, to paraphrase an iconic popular quote from TOP GUN " their design team writes checks that engineering and production can't cash" in their consumer product. As a 3 time Genesis owner I have experienced build quality go from superb in the previous generation G80 to very poor in my current version. Worse, to quote a Genesis (Hyundai) Engineer who recently tested my car, all the 20 some odd snaps crackles and pops I experience in the cabin of my new G80 Prestige are "normal" because of the large amount of plastic parts used to construct the cabin. This is a clear indication that Genesis (Hyundai's) focus has moved to "form over function" and build quality has therefore suffered immensely. The focus on customer satisfaction of Genesis (Hyundai) National Customer Service is sub par especially considering the fact that their mission statement is to exceed expectations. The trouble there is they don't really mean their customers expectations, they mean their own. This is not a customer oriented company by any stretch.

@@lambokiller99 Oh wow, man that’s an old car to be comparing interiors realistically. A rav4 would blow away that interior. The new BMWs have a really chill, clean vibe, much more youthful and professional feeling. The Genesis brand just feels made for people 55+.
Korean companies are so dynamic. I remember Korean brands were below average not so long ago but suddenly on top all over winning the market. How can they do this in such a short time...
To think they started shipping their first car to the US when I was about 5 yrs old. Then again, the country went from worst poverty to the top 10 wealthiest countries after 1960s. I means it’s all pretty nuts.
When you said E39, my gaze snapped away from the comments back to the video. That's a big statement. I'm genuinely curious now to try one out. The E39 balances comfort and driving involvement like nothing else. Yeah, the automatic ones felt a little lazy, but you were supremely isolated from road+wind noise and all the nasty bumps in the road, but you still knew exactly what was going on. It's one of my favorite cars because of this. Don't even get me started on the interior build quality, the solid feel of the doors, the silky smooth engines, and the good looks of the E39.
My S550 is 13 years old and I was contemplating a replacement. After reading all the hypes about the Genesis--G80, G90's, I've decided to stop by the Genesis dealership to have a look. The dealership is co-located with the Hyundai's. There were three Genesis's inside the show room. 1 each of the G70, G80, and G90. There were no one inside the showroom. After checking the G80 and while we were inside the G90, a salesman finally appear. He didn't seems to know much about the vehicle but ask if I would Iike to have a test drive. I told him I want to drive one exactly like the V8 in the showroom. He said there's one in the parking lot and he went to get the key and brought the vehicle to the door. Then he told me it's not the V8, but the turbo V-6. While we sat in the car, he went on to take care of something for another lady in a SUV. We sat there and waited close to ten minutes and finally decided to leave. We took the key and went inside the showroom but there were no one to hand the key to. As we exit, we finally saw the same salesman getting his lunch probably from his wife. The point of all this is, no matter how great Hyundai make the Genesis, if they are to compete with BMW, Mercedes and Lexus, their dealership have a long ways to go. I will never buy a Genesis now because of their customer service. People who will spend $80K to buy a car do not want to be treated like he's buying a Hyundai. If I can't even get someone's attention when I want to buy the car, what kind of service would one expect if I encounter problems with the vehicle! BTW, the dealership is Red McComb Genesis located in San Antonio, Texas. The date was May 6, 2021.
I've owned 3. You wont be at the dealership much. I don't need to spend $30k more for someone to make me feel good when at the dealership. Wife has Lexus & service for sure much better at dealership. She also spends more in 1 year for maintenence than I have ever spent on the lifetime of any Genesis ive owned.
As someone who sells Genesis I can say that they barely scratched the surface of all the features that this car has. It isn't perfect, but it's definitely the best for the money

If Genesis can get their dealer network situated and approaching Lexus levels of customer experience they will lead the industry in short order. Also need to engineer durability and reliability into their entire brand and if they can do that, I will become a customer! Love the designs of all their vehicles. Just have to fix the dealer network and make sure that typical hyundai kia issues don't creep their way into the Genesis brand. I'm hopeful! This from a longtime Lexus customer.
They really killed it with this one. I love the interior and I think the G80 has the best use of their new exterior design (the GV80 looks too fat/stretched vertically and the G90 doesn't have the smooth flowing lines across the entire car and those wide fenders). I would disagree that the E class or 5 series can do better, not at this price point. You'd have to option them out and step up to bigger engines which makes them tens of thousands of dollars more expensive for similar specs.
I sat in this at Good FOS yesterday. For the price and class the interior design , quality and materials are absolutely amazing. Much better than the E Class or 5 Series. Coming from a Mercedes fan.
I truly appreciate the classic lines with a grill and headlights that really stand out. Not my market but I think it’s cool. My wife thinks it looks like something old people would drive.
In terms of design and overall package, I would go 1) E450, 2) G80, 3) 5-series, 4) CT5-v, 5) Lexus GS, 6) A6 (shame about the piano black otherwise would be higher). Loving the design of the Genesis. If only the BMW had better aesthetics in that interior to match that quality. Also, the Caddy is very *cool* but would benefit from the interior of the new escalade with the OLED screens. Toyota needs to come into the 21st century with their tech and ride because the lexus exteriors are sooo cool. Audi, SMH, the last gen cars were so perfect but the current gen just sucks with the black plastic, rev limiters, locking out of features on certain packages, only available 2 interior colors, fake vents (look at that hood) etc.. Its so unnecessary because they know how to make good cars. E-class is just perfect as long as you opt out of black interior and piano black center console. Only thing it needs is ventilated seats in the back.
My 2012 Genesis 5.0 V8 that sports 429 horses and 376 ft pounds of torque is a sleeper sedan than can take an on-ramp with the best Europe has to offer. They're definitely getting close...I mean really close! However, as close as they get, and do I dare say, surpass the Germans for value, drive & creature comforts, there will ALWAYS be a loyal following for the Tri Star, Blue/White Propeller, and the 4 rings. But as time passes...things might just change. Well done on this Genesis...looks marvelous for the value.
Yup I think thats just an old folgie thing tbh! BMW I feel doesnt have that edge anymore. Doug demuro did an interesting opinion piece on it. This G80 turns heads, its got a Regal look for the price.

This channel is THE BEST, period. Love the way you show maps and speedometer when you do track tests and those intros. I used to watch other channels, but not anymore at all.

Gorgeous looking and looks fun to drive! Amazing review!
I like the "this is more fun than the M5" Everyday driving comments are important and you're very good to express that!
Yea, the M5 would destroy the G80 on any track but when it comes to daily driving... you are barely using the M5's potential.
You two just keep getting better and better. The intro, heck your entire video is must see. Thanks.
Had a 2011 4.6 Genesis. Currently have a 2017 G80. Will be getting this model in about 2 years. Love the Genesis.

I'm really loving everything genesis is coming out with. Even their older luxury cars are slept on like the equus and genesis sedan.
Dash-to-axle ratio gives the G80's a true luxury side profile that's also sporty.
I can't wait until genesis starts up a performance arm.
For real. Already a good price point and then add a Genesis S series or something with a 10 or 15k jump in price

I like the car, but just can’t stand the looks of the steering wheel. Kudos to Genesis to come up with such a competent car!
I agree, the steering wheel is ugly and doesn't match the interior styling.
I’m ngl this is one of the few giant grill cars I actually really like the look of
It’s the *only* giant grill car that looks good.
You will pay an additional $20k for that customer service...not to mention the extra money for the cost of service. It's your money.
They don't go to dealerships, they drive the cars, that comment was regarding the performance of the vehicle. This isn't Google Reviews.
This is dealer specific. They don't get money if they don't sell cars so they ought to be concentrated on the customer. Probably a bad dealer.
please come back ... you get a 200,000 mile warranty...
You are the best by far. Exactly what I need - super informative yet entertaining.

This car looks amazing
Best intro yet!! “Means to an end”
“This is where they started now they’re here” lol love it 👏🏽

I truly appreciate the classic lines with a grill and headlights that really stand out. Not my market but I think it’s cool. My wife thinks it looks like something old people would drive.
I’m 62 and I’m seriously considering getting one of these. 😉
And, another year to go on the Hyundai 10 yr warranty! Maybe next year I’ll look for a new car. Nah, my 2012, an original Genesis model, still get looks and compliments. It’s timeless.
