I would rather go for a better engineered and more durable lexus than take a gamble with a car maker who has had major recalls over engine failures and spontaneous fires in recent years.
Thank God you got sense too
Lexus is 10 years behind genesis in terms of design, technology and luxury. The only thing they have going for them is reliability and that's about it.
@@lambokiller99 Agreed. My friend just got a 2021 Lexus RX-350 for $53k. The dash and center console looks so dated and unattractive. I m sure it will be super reliable though.
The ES isnt better than the g80 at all. Not in performance or even looks, the gs is discontinued so whats next ?
That grill looks ridiculous.
Hi un dai
God, I hate that ugly triangular grill on the front! It's badly out of proportion, going against all known aesthetics. It is like the designers got the task, to willfully make the car ugly.
No thanks
Genesis has not missed yet with generation of vehicles.
Thinking of a their cars, they only missed once with the rebadged Tiburon. That's a very high success rate.
The veloster is the successor to the Tiburon.. not the Genesis coupe. The coupe was designed to sway buyers from the inifiniti g37/g60.
Tiburon was front wheel drive, genesis coupe is rear wheel drive.
@@joestuff8 and the Genesis version of the Tiburon was a simple rebadging. That car was ugly as Hyundai and even worse as a Genesis
@@TruthFLA the genesis coupe was literally built on separate platform(same one as the genesis sedan)... the Tiburon is a front wheel drive platform that shares NOTHING with the genesis brand.. at all. The genesis coupe and sedan are built on the same platform and were designed for the genesis brand launch. No tie what so vever to the hyundai Tiburon.
Look it up you simpleton.
@@joestuff8 why do you feel the need to hurl insults when i did no such thing to you. You sought me out not the other way around.
@@joestuff8 i stand by what i said regarding that ugly car and the only misstep they have had without insulting anyone.
Nice😎👌
It's a gorgeous car, but a CPO Lexus is a safer bet
Dated slow and ugly. Too many Toyota for the price tag might as well get a Toyota.
Ugliest Grill this Year

Tesla Model 3 has 23cu.ft. cargo space... that's 10 more than this car!!! And it has no "center tunnel" invading the legroom of the middle rear passenger.
23MPG in the city on Premium gasoline? That is quite a penalty. Imagine paying $48,000 for this car and then paying $69 every fillup!!!
As you probably know, America's #1 Premium vehicle is Tesla's Model 3 (starting at $44,000). To say "nothing else comes close to matching the G80's value" is a bit deceitful... you are basically ignoring the car that everyone is buying. Which makes you guys look a bit weird if you're calling yourselves automotive journalists. But totally appropriate if you're just an advertising channel, promoting whatever car you're paid to cover. In which case, yeah, this Genesis is awesome!!! :D
Enjoy your Tesla!
Get the V6. The south Koreans cannot make a reliable 4cyl engine.
my 07 elantra lasted me 220k before i traded in. had no issue. my wife's santa fe lasted her 150k miles before she got sick of it. and frankly with 100k warranty i really wouldn't worry about it unless you like driving 1 car over 200k+ like myself.
They should have gone with the 3.5T V6 engine. If you are going to buy a heavy full style luxury car, why would you go cheap on the 4 cylinder?
Idk but at least the v6 is offered. I miss the tau 5.0 v8 tho, emissions be darned that was a proper powerplant. I mean the v6 is alright too tho
@@grantmills4184 The Hyundai Equuis was a luxury car and that had a 435 HP V8 engine. I see no reason to buy the G80 when the Equuis is a much better value.
Thinking the same thing... But unfortunately they all seem to be putting 4 cylinder turbos in cars that weigh nearly 2 tons... Don't know how that would affect reliability and durability over a few years with the small engine / big body scenario.
I think it's because of the CAFE requirements, which averages out the brand, and not the model.
