I tried to follow my doctors suggestions by limiting protein. I became Sick. I am anemic, diabetic (A1c 6.7) high normal to low blood pressure. Total cholesterol 140, and ckd b. I was saving my kidneys, but dying of malnutrition. I could not stand up long enough to make coffee or a quick meal. I increased my protein and fiber as well as fresh vegetables and I am doing well. I now have energy to walk and do more cardio exercises.

Thank you so much for providing this vital information!
Probably not too many "healthy" people would chose to watch this video but I feel it's important to note that many of the foods you mentioned (high sugar, high sodium, highly processed foods) SHOULD BE AVOIDED BY EVERYONE - not just by those who are already sick! Processed foods are killing us and we need to emphasize this at every opportunity. Thank you.

Everything you eat seem to be bad for you in some way or other. I'm going to eat whatever I want in moderation, and live my life. Eat this, but don't eat that. Eat that, but don't eat this. Just breathing these days will kill you. God bless everyone. Have a blessed day.

You could do that and stay healthy if you lived 200 years ago when processed food didn’t exist. Now, food manufacturers add in sugar and salt - not because it’s healthy, but because it tastes better and customers like it. You can exceed healthy daily amounts of sugar and salt with just one small fast food meal. Do that regularly and you won’t live as long. Believe me, you will cling to life just as tightly when you’re old as you do when you’re young. Do your best to live a very long and healthy life.

    • @spontaanaan8871

@derripage5934 There is lot of fases before you start to eat healthy.
For me I was interesting in going healthy a lot of times but there are just some things inside of us and around us that makes it harder for us to change diet.
What you’re saying about that everything seems bad is just one of the fases, and most of the time only the things that are bad, are actually the things that you ARE eating what’s making you sick in the first place. So if you get over that small bump, which is only big in our heads, you can truly get healthy, but it’s just in the beginning that you need to really relearn things.
And also in the beginning, if you have a chronic disease, even the things that are good for you aren’t always the things that you can eat, so you need to get healed first with the things that you CAN eat. After that you’ll see that there is a lot of good foods you can eat, healthy and delicious food for the body, mind and spirit.
Really start taking things in your own hands, getting healthy passing it to others, friends and family is the true wealth.♥️✌🏾🙏🏾

I just discovered you and your videos. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I was suddenly diagnosed w/CKD in 2019. My endo had suggested I see a nephrologist years earlier, but didn’t express the urgency of my condition and I dragged my feet. Looking back at my old bloodwork, I see that I went from completely normal kidney creatinine levels (.5-.7) to 1.45 overnight and an EGFR of 34. I am trying to look back before 2015 to see what changed, what caused normal kidney function to change so quickly. I also have a 8mm not obstructing stone or maybe adenoma ( I have acromegaly and there was a large benign adenoma on my pituitary that was removed in 2009, along with half the gland!). I am at stage 3B and scared. My nephrologist has no pulse, just looks at the bloodwork, tells me don’t drink soda or take nsaids, period. I don’t feel like I should have to beg for info or guidance from my doctor, so I am looking for a new nephrologist on Long Island in NY.

Do you eat cashews? Make sure you rid your diet of food high in soluble oxalates. Oxalates create stones. You also need to take calcium carbonate to bind to the phosphorus and to the oxalates in your food.

My own nephrologist doesn't give my plant-based diet much credit even though I came off of dialysis and have stayed off dialysis for the past 12 years by avoiding all animal products and letting my digestion dictate what I should and should not be eating. It is nice to hear this sort of advice from an actual doctor.
Two amendments I would make is to avoid potatoes- those are also high in potassium- and to not avoid beans but limit them to only 2-3 meals a week. Again, listen to your body. If it gives you diarrhea, bloating, cramps, etc., that's a pretty strong indicator that your body can't handle it. Also avoid alcohol and sodas all but for a rare treat. If you do plan to give up all animal products, please do some research on how to properly supplement the couple of things you will be missing.

    • @kimberlythomas2296

Wow you came off dialysis? The doctors always say it can’t happen but you did it , what a blessing! My husband passed away after being on dialysis for only 1 1/2 years! I raised my family as vegetarian but my husband was a very strong meat eater with hypertension! The drs helped him to go on dialysis faster by prescribing medicine that was killing his functions even faster, they gave him ibuprofen for a long time and then we seen another dr that said you shouldn’t be taking this! I pray that all who are listening to the dr in the video would listen to her advice, dialysis is not something you want in your life if you can avoid it! And for those who get off dialysis Gods grace and mercy and knowledge are with you! 🙏🏾

Bob, I've been eating carnivore too, but I'm in trouble. I had a partial nephrectomy in 2015. All my checkups have been good. Until now. I went carnivore over a year ago and just in the last few days I had an ultrasound and they tell me I've got a swelling/blockage in the tube leading down from my kidney. I'm scared. Tons of protein in my urine. (It comes out foamy.) 😟. I don't know if it's the cancer come back, or a stone or something. They said they'll have to do a CT scan to find out. (That's lots of radiation. 😞)
I guess I shouldn't have started carnivore even though I feel better than I ever have.

Too much sodium is not really the issue. It's the imbalanced sodium to potassium ratio that creates problems. And most folks are potassium deficient.

    • @jasongodwin1319
      @jasongodwin1319 Год назад +6

Correct. 98% of people are potassium deficient. As long as you have enough potassium and water your kidneys will excrete excess sodium. Recently I had to ride in an ambulance. I had some heart problems because I had stopped taking beta blockers. The emt asked me what things I had consumed that day and I told her I had 100 mg of potassium, a very small amount. I swear this moron had the nerve to tell me that I should not do that unless a doctor tells me too because it is dangerous and I should only get potassium from foods like orange juice. OJ contains 500mg per cup and I only took 100 mg She is so dumb I wanted to slap her.

Dr. Frita: I have a 10mm Kidney Stone (attached to my kidney) not causing any trouble yet! Do you recommend getting it blasted into powder with a laser and going through all the recuperation pain or leave it alone and hope it never dislodges from the kidney and causes issues? Based on your info in this video, my diet probably contributed immensely to it!

I think with Protein, you need portion control ie not large portions, as well as not having it every day.

I think you may need to read more current research on the effects of protein in relationship to kidney function and cholesterol.
From what I’ve heard from multiple doctors there is no credible research showing that eating whole animal proteins will negatively impact kidney function.
Maybe it’s different for kidney disease patients.
Also, cholesterol is a necessary component of our nutrition and physiology that’s been unfairly demonized and is highly misunderstood by most (including doctors).

Thank you for sharing this video. You have a remarkable way of explaining things, and I'm genuinely grateful for the clarity you bring to the subject. There's one particular concept that has left me feeling quite perplexed. For years, I've been grappling with high blood pressure (HBP), switching between medications. I've always been under the impression that a diet rich in potassium is beneficial for regulating blood pressure. However, following a recent blood test indicating Stage 2 kidney disease, I'm left questioning my dietary choices. It's distressing to think that a diet I once deemed healthy might eventually become detrimental to my kidneys.
My foremost aim is to navigate a path towards better health. I have a strong resolve and have even undertaken fasting for three consecutive days, though I'm unsure of its efficacy in addressing my health challenges. It's baffling trying to pinpoint what might be adversely affecting my health. I lead a largely clean lifestyle - I don't drink or smoke, and my only medication is for HBP. I've cut down my coffee intake, predominantly cook at home, and have recently reduced my protein intake mindful of its excretion via urine.
When I introspect, the only health red flag I can discern is perhaps my weight. I stand at 6', weighing 210 lbs. Despite this, I'm quite active. For the past 1.5 years, I've been religiously following Orange Theory Fitness, dedicating five days a week. My fitness metrics, like running under an 8-minute mile and rowing 2000 meters in less than 8 minutes, bear testament to my commitment. Yet, my abdominal fat seems obstinate. Alarmingly, despite my rigorous fitness regimen, I was recently rushed to the ER with a blood pressure reading of 250/132. At 52, I feel I still have so much to offer, especially with three children on the cusp of their college journeys.
This entire situation is immensely frustrating, and I genuinely hope you might have some guidance or insights to share. Your expertise and advice would mean the world to me. Thank you for taking the time to listen.
