      @@kevinmoy2175an automatic flag because defenders don’t know how to tackle and it took refs enforcing rules for y’all to see that. The problem is some of you idiots thought spearing with your helmet down and pulling on jerseys is how you tackle. Because that’s how the loser coach in your local town taught you. “If you’re not better than him, just start cheating, and hope the refs don’t call it”

    That Super Bowl was so important for Baltimore. We had just gotten a team back a few years prior. We had for years an open wound left on us by the Colts leaving in the middle of the night. We had the commissioner himself bad mouthing us. We had other teams not taking us serious. Winning the Super Bowl, and winning it in such a strong showing, helped solidify Baltimore football again.

      Don't hate on the Colts. The problem was corrupt politics. The owner Irsay's dad told Maryland and Baltimore that if they did not help build a stadium he would leave. That was about 7 - 9 years of raggling. The politics of the time did not care for sports or sports fans because they were too busy robbing the Maryland Treasury. In fact they were going to arrest the team and hold them by law when legislature learned about the move. This tells me that the Colts were an afterthought by politicians. They learned their lesson now. We Marylanders who remember that empty feeling will support our team. I've been to a few games myself at Memorial and M&T. They might be still in Memorial Stadium still if this experience had not happened. Still, it's nice to kick the Colts ass!

    • @Deborahtunes
      @Deborahtunes 5 лет назад +7

      @eddiewinehosen ~ Or let the NFL build these stadiums. You're right, why is it the taxpayers job to fund them? It's not right. Irsay was crooked as all get out.
      But Maryland's politicians didn't help the situation, with that stupid move to try and take the team away either. I believe Irsay was going to leave anyway. He just used that bs excuse of "build me a new stadium or I'll leave", to do it. He knew Baltimore wasn't going to do any such thing.
      I often wonder though if Tagliabue didn't have his hand in it somewhere. He's always hated Baltimore. Tagliabue even tried to stop the Browns/Ravens move from happening...

    • @westman63
      @westman63 5 лет назад +2

      @eddiewinehosen Irsay extorted Maryland for nine years? Extortion is more of a do it now situation or else. Irsay entered the deal with Indianapolis in good faith.

      As much as I love my Ravens, I believe the 1985 Bears would get the win over the 2000 Ravens. Simply because that Bears team had more offense to complement their defense, than the Ravens had to complement theirs.

      85 bears had a weakness there weaknees was short passes yards after the catch like a west coast offense also there secondary wasint rlly that good so this weakness got exploited by dan marino and the dolphins they destroyed them with 38 points against them i dont this defense would do well with all the west coast pass heavy offenses in the 2000's

    The 2000 Ravens only scored an average of 20 points per game. But, more famously, they held teams to an average of just 10 points per game. In 5 straight games, the team didn't even score a touchdown and yet still won 2 of them. But, even more amazing, to me anyway, is that, despite being offensively challenged, in the three games the Ravens actually gave up 20 or more points (once giving up 36 pts) they actually won all three games.

    Excluding the week 17 game against the Jets because Baltimore rested their starters, the Ravens allowed a total of three offensive touchdowns over their final 8 games. They gave up just one offensive touchdown in the entire postseason. They faced the 4 teams with the most wins in the NFL during the playoffs and out scored them by a combined total of 95-23. Denver and Oakland were ranked 2nd and 3rd in the league in points scored and the Ravens held each of them to a measly 3 points a piece in their playoff matchup. Bananas.

    I'm a Bills fan but the Ravens are my favorite AFC team other than Buffalo. Always liked the Ravens ever since that savage beatdown of the Giants in Super Bowl 35. I HATE all New York City sports teams. That 2000 Ravens defense was just downright NASTY...the best I've ever seen in my lifetime. Better than the 1985 Bears, 2013 Seahawks, or 2015 Broncos in my opinion. The only points the Giants scored in the Super Bowl was Ron Dixon's kickoff return. They were completely shut out on offense. The Rams vs the Ravens would've been a much better match up. The Greatest Show on Turf is one of the best offenses of all time with QB Kurt Warner, RB Marshall Faulk, and WR's Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. The Ravens wouldn't have shut out the Rams but I think they still would've won. But it would've been a much more competitive game
