Ray Lewis was a standout amongst standouts like Palumalu, Dawkins, Spikes, Urlacher, and so so many other great hard hitting defenders when football was legit fun. The phrase gridiron football was legit back then. Madden was still an announcer like damn that's some nostalgia I really want to get back to.
I was so mad the Steelers didn’t give Rod Woodson a chance to play at safety! I know it’s an unusual change at the pro level, but Rod was a different level athlete!
I remember they went like half the season without scoring an offensive TD and went 5-3 . By the time the playoffs came around it was impossible to score on them !
1977 Atlanta Falcons defense. One of the best ever but their offense was historically bad. Obly gave up 129 points in a 14 game season. Again, their offense was pre school bad.
The gritz blitz created by Jerry Glanville was great until offenses caught up to them. Blitz everyone! 😂. That was fun for the time it existed. It will not work today.

85 bears did have a better offense led by future HOF Walter Payton. Both are great defenses but the Ravens get more credit for carrying more of the load for the team’s overall success!
They were nice af too, I will say that 2006 had an even better pass defense and pass rush. 2000 was the superior run defense and overall defense though

The secondary had a PRIME Ed Reed, an elite Bart Scott and Dawan Landry. On the front the had Haloti Ngata and Kelly Gregg. This is easily one of the most talent stacked group of hitters, pass defenders and run-stoppers in NFL history.
Needless to say we punished punished belt to ass the Ny Giants in the SB 35 like damn watch that game they were in trouble getting cracked every play🖤💜🖤💜🌆
The playoff win over the Titans was due to the Titans kicker missing 3 field goals, including one blocked and returned for a touchdown. Had the Titans won, they probably wouhd have won the super bowl.
Best I ever saw, it seemed impossible to get a 1st down on these guys, crazy…most amazing was the best offense ((STL) ever & defense(BAL) ever played at the same time but never really seemed like a rivalry at all. Great couple years of football anyways
Why don’t teams prioritize big nose tackles like Tony Saragusa or Vince Wilfork any more? It’s almost like teams have 4 DE’s on the line similar to the giants NASCAR package during the 2 Eli runs, but I feel like it makes it hard to consistently stuff the run game

I know your just reading stats and not actually talking about the game, but the rich Gannon only threw for 80 yards because of a dirty hit by Tony Siragusa that took him out of the game. The Raiders were driving and about to score when fat ass Siragusa laid that dirty hit on Gannon and then the Raiders Backup QB was simply overmatched.

Imo the ravens was by far the best then the 92 era eagles was the 2nd best i ever saw & that 15 broncos was pretty nasty, hell Payton was out there throwing duck turds in prolly his absolute worst game of his life & they still won. Those 80s giants D of course. There were others , the bucs were good but not the ravens. Shoot give the ravens any of the offenses of the other teams here & they may have gone spotless. All due respect but Kurt Warner first start was against this same defense the year prior to 2000 season and he torched them they didn’t play the best nfc team in the Super Bowl in 2000 being the rams destroyed the Vikings and giants that year but injuries held them back after starting 6-0 in 2000 and the qbs in the afc central at that time was weak

Your history is inaccurate. Do your research. When they went four games without scoring a touchdown, Tony Case was the Quarterback for the majority of that drought, not Trent Dilfer. Once Trent was installed as the starter, their offense improved dramatically and the rest was history.

I seen a Ravens player on a local Baltimore sports show defend the Ravens decision. He said the practices were horrible, passes couldn't be completed. The QB position was a hugh hole thay had to be filled.

A lot of people forget, but the defense who allowed the 3rd fewest PPG all time was also in 2000. It was the Titans.
