If a QB got close to the passing yards/TD's record in a year, it would make a *far* bigger impact than a DE who almost broke the sack record. 45 TD's are always more valuable than 20 sacks. Always. The MVP goes to quarterbacks because they are the most valuable players.

Chris Doleman never gets the credit he deserves, the guy was a monster. He ended up with 150.5 sacks, 44 forced fumbles, 24 fumble recoveries, 8 interceptions, 3 TD's and 975 tackles in 14 seasons. He was elected in to the NFL Hall of Fame in 2012, sadly he passed away in January of 2020 at the age of 58.

9:30 The Broncos offense was not "completely disrupted" in this game. They scored 29 points, as opposed to their average of 30.1 points per game that season. They also won by 2 scores. Also, every website I've checked lists Houston as having only 1 sack that game.

Great vid. I watched them all play and none impacted the game more than LT. The man did everything at a Pro Bowl level. Not all his sacks counted as an official stat yet. He had more career INT's than most DB's. He knocked down at least a couple of passes every single game with 5 in one game! The record is 7 by a DB! Joe Gibbs created the H-back solely to slow down LT. GOAT
Strahan's record-setting play was a complete gimme, with Favre all but laying down and giving it to him. As far as I'm concerned, the true record is the tie at 22 between Gastineau, Jared Allen, and Justin Houston.

It's incorrect to say that sacks became an official NFL stat in 1982. Sacks were an official stat for decades. Sacks did not get attributed to INDIVIDUAL players until 1982. Look at any NFL team's official team statistics, and sacks will be a part of it going at least back into the 1960s. That said, we also DO really know the NFL players who had 20 sacks in a season prior to 1982.

This list is garbage Coy Bacon had 26 or 27 sacks back in 76 with the Bengals nobody will ever come close to that but that was before they counted them as an official stat and I know for a fact he had that many because I watched him do it
