As life long Bills fan, of course OJ being the first, and I appreciate that you mentioned how many actual games he played is phenomenal, ED was just as special. I was born in June '78 so I missed OJ completely, and only saw the tail end of ED's career! I watched every other backs complete career! IMO, Sanders doing it in year 8 is utterly amazing! We all know how bad the rest of the offense could be at various times of his career! Most backs don't last 8 yrs!
I was at the Jets vs Lions game in '97 when Barry broke 2k yds. It was the loudest I've ever heard the Silverdome and if i remember correctly the refs penalized the Lions for the crowd being too loud. Definitely a WTF moment
True, I believe OJ! He definitely would have rushed for at least 3,000 yards, if there had been 16 or 17 like today...OJ was a monster! ( Not referring to Nicole) Seriously, he does not receive enough recognition.
2k is such a monumental accomplishment of skill, endurance, opportunity and luck, no surprise there are so few. I will never dis anyone's opinion who names Brown, Simpson, Dickerson or Sanders the GOAT. All have great arguments for the spot. There's 11 more truly amazing runners who are in the tier just below that and often brought up, but end up just short. Dickerson was it for me though, still holding rookie record (which was also league leading), single season record, playoff game record and least games to 10K yards. My favorite...if only he had more time...Gale Sayers.

Out of my 33 years there have only been 3 Professional Athletes that have set the city of Minneapolis on fire (no pun intended) with Sports: Randy Moss, Kevin Garnett, and Adrian Peterson. And I would say now……. Anthony Edwards if he stays in Minnesota. I am proud Derick Henry made the list. He definitely able to as he did because I remember watching Derick Henry in the High School U.S. ARMY All Star Game back in like……. 2013. And Derrick Henry rushed liked 4,500 something yards in High School breaking records in Florida, Henry having 12,000 something total rushing yards in his High School years. Henry being the “BIG” running back specimen on the block, then he went to Alabama where other great running backs went to like: Mark Ingram, the super Strong Trent Richardson benching like 460lbs, Squatting 700lbs (I really wish he didn’t fall off in the NFL he was a Top 100 player his first year). Julio Jones being at Alabama too. Derrick Henry has definitely proven his worth to be a 2,000 yard Running Back. Barry rushed for 2000 yards in 14 games. Barry Sanders rushed for 2053 yards total in 1997, in the first 2 games Sanders had a combind 53 yards. Over the next 14 games Sanders would rush for *exactly* 2000 yards. So while technically Sanders rushed for 2000 yards in a 16 game season, he rusehd for 2000 yards in 14 games anyways and had 2 games to spare.
OJ's 2003 yards in 14 games in 1973 is still the all-time record period. Averaging 143 yrds/gm and 6 yards/carry is a record that will never be broken. Earning both the MVP and OPOTY awards. The "Juice" was on the loose homie...

He deserved every bit of that award, it was just unlucky timing by Dickerson to have done what he did in the same season.

All of these comments have zero affection on a true running back. A passing team and line, that opens up the game. Barry Sanders changed an entire crap team
AP could’ve easily broke the record the Vikings and nfl didn’t want him too. I remember watching the game vividly the man needed 8 more yards with around 3 minutes left in the game
Derrick Henry isn't just one of the best RB's of the 2010's & 2020's he is one of the very best of all time. It's cool that the Titans are the only team to have had multiple 2000 yard rushers. Another fun fact is that franchise has had 3 1900+ yard seasons, no other team even has 2! Why don't they just go ahead and change it from MVP to MVQ (Most Valuable QB) for obvious reasons.
No he isn’t “one of the very best of all time”. Emmitt and Gore played 15/16 seasons respectively. Sanders, Payton and Brown all had shortened careers of less than 11 seasons. Not factoring OJ’s last two seasons and Henry’s foot season he’s barely surpassed OJ on the all time rushing leader list by about 1000 yards in the same time span of years. When you factor in Henry had six consecutive winning seasons and 4 playoff appearances with Tennessee compared to OJ’s one playoff game ever they seem to really compare to each other. Henry is ranked 20th and OJ 22nd all time rushing leader. So IF Henry can put in another 5-6 seasons to get 14-15 seasons and he averages 1200 yds each season he’ll surpass Emmitt on that list. He’s only had 4 years in his career with those type numbers. He has had 4 years at over 1500 so if he could manage the next 3 years at 1700 and final two years at 900 he could do it. If he puts up that 1700 for 3 years he’d just pass Gore for 3rd all time but fall short of Payton and THAT would just put him in the conversation for top10 all time. He could achieve 1000 for the next 6 seasons and end up in the same shape except he’d be guaranteed top8 all time. If he gets 3-4 more pro bowls and 2-3 rushing titles and 16,000 yards he’ll be top 6 all time great. He needs those accolades and all time rushing leader for top 3. He’d need all that and all time season rushing yards to be the greatest back to ever play.

Terrel Davis did it while sitting out 8 quarters out of a 16 game season. Practically he did it in 14 games.
Just for clarification, he sat out those quarters because the Broncos were so far ahead keeping him in was not worth the risk of injury.
Sanders had 53 total yards through 2 games. Then collect 2000 in his final 14 games.
Yeah. Davis had a couple of off days in that in 98 as well. One of those games (vs Miami?) he had something like 20-30 yards.
Ya what about O.J
"The Falcons Practically won the SB"...Almost don't count brother
A 2000 yard season should always be MVP. Henry getting that in this passing era should’ve been on it hands down
1 did it in 14... All the others had 16 games.
Todays backs have an extra with 17 games, but most offenses back fields deploy 2 backs.
They are all great but I like watching Dickerson the most. Smooth and relaxed. I haven't seen that in any other back.
Who is here for Saquon Barkley?
Nobody goof troop
Me!!
Eric Dickerson still holds the record.
Dickerson did it in 15 games and got to 2k in less carries then Simpson

Chris Johnson was underrated as a receiver.

Minnesota robbed AP of true immortality. He was THE last power back.
They didn't rob him of anything lol
AP tore his ACL and came back the very next year and not only joined the 2k club but almost had the record.. #MyGoatRb
Er. Derrick Henry? Hello?
I'm just going by the temporal aspect that defines things like 'before' and 'after'.
He didnt mention this in the video . But Minnesota had to kick that field goal to make the playoffs. It wasnt just a regular game
Derrick Henry was the last
Watching Barry carry his team in 97 was a master class for RB's.
2k rushing yards should be automatic Hall Of Fame induction
Barry Sanders is my GOAT. He was otherworldly. Great memories
Barry sanders along with Jim brown had many good years ahead of him
Can't wait to see Barkley break the all-time yards record.
This didn't age well lol. I was looking forward to it as well though
OJ stats still #1 14 games
It's crazy how Dickerson and Marino both had record breaking seasons the same year. 2k and 5k was bonkers 😬
Barry did everything he ever did in spite of his offensive line, he's the exception on that great backs having great lines thing.
Cj 2k in the first 2 clips just made me happy
A crazy thing everyone forgets is that Denver was so good that year that Davis sat out the equivalent of 2 1/2 games in 4th quarters while Denver was blowing everyone out. If he has played the entire games he would have easily ran for the most yards ever and probably would have been like 2300-2500 yds
Barry Sanders is the only back with almost 2 2k yard seasons. He’s 3rd on the list and like 12th again with 1800+ yards
What about 2 2000 yard seasons?
Titan Up!! 💪😎
Nobody yet, and with the RB by committee approach don't know if we will get a 2000 yard back for a while.

Lewis is one of the most underrated running backs of all time. This dude banged out 100 yard game after 100 yard game with 9/10 defenders in the box. Teams threw everything they had at him and he still ran all over them
ERIC DICKERSON fan since S.M.U 💙💙💙💙
As life long Bills fan, of course OJ being the first, and I appreciate that you mentioned how many actual games he played is phenomenal, ED was just as special. I was born in June '78 so I missed OJ completely, and only saw the tail end of ED's career! I watched every other backs complete career! IMO, Sanders doing it in year 8 is utterly amazing! We all know how bad the rest of the offense could be at various times of his career! Most backs don't last 8 yrs!
Another comment, based on the CJ all purpose yards! Ppl like to forget that Thurman Thomas led the league in all purpose yards 3 straight seasons!
Thurman did it FOUR straight seasons.
Only 1 team has ever had more than one player who rushed for 1,900 yards or more in a season, the Titans/Oilers and they had 3! That's very cool.
Henry is on pace to rush for 2000 again!
Henry's "respectable speed" is one of the biggest understatement of this whole video. That dude can fuckin fly when he gets goin'
I had no idea that sanders rushed for exactly 2000 in a 14 game span to end his 2000 yard season. Crazy 😂
I was at the Jets vs Lions game in '97 when Barry broke 2k yds. It was the loudest I've ever heard the Silverdome and if i remember correctly the refs penalized the Lions for the crowd being too loud. Definitely a WTF moment
OJ SIMPSON had the greatest running back season of ALL-TIME‼️‼️‼️
2,003 YARDS IN 14 GAMES‼️‼️‼️
NO DEBATE‼️‼️‼️
I was fortunate to have watched both CJ and AP run during games vs my Texans. OMG.... they are so freaking fast IRL!
O.J said that he probably would have rushed for 3000 yards an a 16 game season 😂
R.I.P O.J❤❤
True, I believe OJ! He definitely would have rushed for at least 3,000 yards, if there had been 16 or 17 like today...OJ was a monster! ( Not referring to Nicole) Seriously, he does not receive enough recognition.
Your math isn't mathing. Two or even three extra games... He doesn't get anywhere near 3,000. Would have to rush for 500 or 334 yards a game...
If a rb gets 2000 yds rushing that should be an automatic mvp win
I remember Chris Johnson CJ2K! AND MY BOY ADRIAN PETERSON! Thank You for making Minnesota Vikings look good and exciting to watch.
I remember when they interviewed Derrick Henry in the 2013 U.S. ARMY All American Bowl and Derrick Henry said he runs like 10 miles a Day or something like that. -IN HIGH SCHOOL!
Terrell Davis is my favorite player & the reason why I am a broncos fan barring injuries TD could have chased goat status

Barry Sanders is my all time starting RB followed closely by Dickerson.
Adrian Peterson could have smashed that record! They took him out the game too early against Green Bay.

Yes. Now it's comparing as apples and oranges.
Jim Brown played when the NFL had 12 game seasons. His records are all predicated on that shorter schedule.

I looked up some stats. I found that Walter Payton had (4) 2,000 yard seasons rushing + receiving. Eric Dickerson had 4. Marshall Faulk had 4. LaDainian Tomlinson had 3. Edgerrin James had 3. Tiki Barber had 3. Barry had 2. Christian McCaffrey has 2. OJ had 2. Emmit had 1. Adrian Peterson had 1.

Roger Craig did it twice. In ‘85 when he had over 1000 yds in both categories. And in ‘88 where he was arguably snubbed for MVP.

Now add Philadelphia Eagle Barkley! Congratulations Barkley.

Sure, he gained 102 yds more than OJ, even though OJ theoretically would have rushed for more if played 16 games, but Dan Marino Obliterated the previous Single Season Touchdowns and Yards records.

Of what?
@petergambino2129 of all charges
Walter Payton was one man band rushed for almost 1900 yards in 14 games surrounded by garbage players on offense and defense.
