    I was just at my local music store and I listened to all of these speakers. all sounded very good the rokik 5 sounded a little too muffled to me the jbl and yamaha sounded a lot clearer, but believe it or not the M Audio BX5 Carbon blew all the others away. i had to double check that the sound I was hearing was actually coming from the BX5 and yes it was the BX5 I couldnt believe the Clarity of these Speakers.. Just my opinion though

    I think KRK wins, bc the bass hole isn't on the backside (same for the samsons)

    • @KeepTheGates

      Raf Temmerman frequency response on KRK is bad compared to most others in the price range.

    • @taradead
      @taradead 7 лет назад

      Don't know what you were watching, but KRK freq response numbers are some of the best in this video. Anyway, freq response numbers are highly over-rated...there are a lot of other factors to consider along with those numbers. As far as bass ports, I agree with Raf, having them in the back can really alter the bass on a cramped desktop DAW setup.

    • @KeepTheGates
      @KeepTheGates 7 лет назад

      Best? When mixing, you want the response to be as flat as it can be. Did you see the comparison at the end?

    I wish this video actually explained how the speakers sound and compare to eachother rather than basically reading off specs from a spec-sheet which tells me almost nothing regarding the sonic qualities and character of a speaker.

      You can get speaker pads to stop them from vibrating on your table since the speakers will probably face u bot the wall

    • @danielmullins9953

      Mr Duckington yeah but they're rear ported unlike the krks that have it at the front

    • @johnmorris2170
      @johnmorris2170 7 лет назад +1

      Daniel Mullins That is too close. Move them at least another foot. Mixing at low levels will also help.
      Under no condition should you plug up the ports. If you do you will completely alter the tonal balance and frequency response of your monitors and your mixes will suffer.

    • @monkey76kerr
      @monkey76kerr 8 лет назад

      ASK Soni I think it depends what you want to do with them and what kind of sound you want from them. I hear the krk speakers do not give a flat uncoloured sound however they are very highly rated. The Samson and the Mackie are the cheapest but both have good reputations. I think the krk and jbl are quite a bit more expensive but that doesn't necessarily make them the best.

    • @durrantmiller8810

      The JBL are the most accurate of the bunch and they have Glorious imaging!

    • @taradead
      @taradead 7 лет назад

      I would say KRK. Mackie mr5 are suspiciously cheap and most consider them only a computer media speaker...not a near-field monitor for recording/mixing. Don't know much about Resolve se5, but at $250 a pair, I'm guessing the materials are relatively low-end. JBL 305 sound good out of the box and retail for under $250 a pair, but have rear bass ports (big no-no in home desktop monitoring) and a weak amp. Rokits need a little more tweaking than other monitors in the under $300 range (isolation pads are highly recommended when using in a cramped home desktop DAW), but are the most solid out of the bunch.

    Funny that you all say wich speakers are "the best". I master on a pair of Pioneer passive (few dollars new) for 28years and made still records with it for broadcast/television/production artists . The man BEHIND the speaker make the sound , if you dont know the mixing rules ( base -2db / snare 0db / guitar -6db / hihat -6db / pad -15db etc ) and wich EQ every sound needs , what the hell you doing with a KRK of other look-a-like-now im good if you dont know HOW to mix.

    Potential buyers are familiar with expensive acoustics, they do not need long speeches.
    We would love to hear them sound from a decent microphone. We can perfectly hear the difference in the sound of different systems. Like here, for example:

    (of course, we listen through an amplifier and good speakers or cool headphones).

      Like I said in response to your question, yes. If space is an issue, and you place them close to a wall; the speakers will (more likely than not) behave differently than if you gave them more space. About 18 inches is recommended.

    The KRK Rokit 5's ( Im sure their other models as well but not 100% sure) have the WORSE "feature ever! They shut off CONSTANTLY and you have to really crank them up in order for them to re-engage (hear audio) and this means you have to practically BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF every 15 minutes or so (unless theres a constant stream of audio in which case they don't auto shut off)
    I called them because I thought they were defective, Nope...its a "FEATURE"! and cannot be shut off.
    I'm selling them and getting something else. Pathetic

      mine don't they work fine they're so loud I keep all of the levels on the back of the speakers on zero and turn the mixing knob on my mbox 2

    • @fga3550
      @fga3550 9 лет назад +5

      dajzilla There is a simple solution to your problem. You need to turn up the source signal and turn down the volume on the monitors. If your source sound is too soft they will shut off to save power. I freaking love this feature as when I'm done with my mix I simple walk away from the desk and the monitors turn off automatically in a few mins.
      My guess is you simply have the source signal way too low and your monitor volumes jacked way up. If you do this, they will shut off automatically. Just give em' a hotter signal and you're golden man.

    i had maudio bx5s 10 years ago , krk rokit 6 g2s 6 years ago, maudio products: is just maudio monitors, do nothing, sound comes out of them, and they start degrading soon. cool story bro. krk products: monitors are poorly made break a year later or bass blow out. and and jbl lsr305s, after having for 2 years i do NOT like them. they are very hissy, VERY! and i don't give a shit how great they are claimed to be. sound wise, they sound boring as heck, all those knobs,switches look impressive the mid lo and hi are like a jack of all trades, master of none, and the knobs on the lsr305s do no turn well and never line up to the number meters.the speakers box vibrates the table. rage! google it. hated ever since i bought them. i hate them more then my maudio bx5s or krk rokit 6 g2s. subjective i never had yamaha, tannoy, mackie, samson. i will say that i was upset a few times and threw the lsr both right and left directly into the wall. did it like 3 times and and they broke the wall and were a bit damaged on the corners. they also fell from 6 feet like 5 times when i was making a homemade standup desk. they are built very well. oh, and the power plugs don't fit well they slide around like in gum. if ww3 comes, i guess i can use them to bludgeon the enemy. lsr305 are review hyped. i think, maudio or krk are first time monitors, then maybe a person trys jbl. now, i am not sure, buy leaning to yamaha, mackie, or tannoy. i never hear complaints from mackie or tannoy so maybe i will try mackie or tannoy, samson, yeah... i am getting a review hype vibe.

    the JBL is the only one Ive heard and it is absolute garbage! I wouldnt recommend them to my worst enemy. Tweeters are way to loud and mids and bass sucks, at least in the room i listened to them.
    Ive noticed a lot of ppl (noobs) consider loud tweeters to be clean sound. They hear those overly hyped extra sparkly, sharp highs and think, damn thats cleann.
    BTW, I love how you acted like having a class D amp was better than a class AB. Like the JBL got bonus points for having the worst amp. What you should have said is the JBL is the only one with a class D amp, which means it has the worst amp out of the bunch when it comes to sq.

    • @ilpatongi
      @ilpatongi 7 лет назад +1

      You know that these are budget monitors right?
      You can't compare them to high end stuff.
      Plus, check your ears, the JBL have that tweeter that is outstanding

    • @mikeg5172
      @mikeg5172 7 лет назад +1

      Jeremy Clarkson Yes I know they are budget monitors. The other budget monitors in this video have class AB amps, JBL is the only one with a class D. Class D amps have gotten a lot better but they still cant compare to a AB in terms of sound quality.
      Personally, Id rather have the PreSonus E8 over any of those. A friend owns a pair of those JBLs and Ive also heard them plenty of times at guitar center, they are trash, sorry. "Increased HF detail" lol another way of saying overly bright/hyped tweeters.
      They try to sell ppl on that wave guide lol I hear the GC ppl always pitching that wave guide "its the same one from their top of the line monitors that cost thousands" hahaaha

      Mike G uhm sorry but the JBls are cleaner than the eris's, I used the eris's for 4 years, great solid monitors for the price definitely nothing but love for them, and this is a subjective opinion on what works best for you but JBL are definitely less hyped than the personus and the presonus are pretty flat, I did a lot of good mixing on the presonus.

      Thanks for the comment. I have indeed heard the 2325's. They were great little monitors, but JBL was able to make some changes and bring down the cost. Biggest difference is the highly efficient Class D amp and the new waveguide. I haven't compared the two side by side, but I was quite impressed with the 305's for their size. Imaging was very direct, so I'd definitely spend time dialing in your music.
