      Chris John Michael The one before this one is my favorite. That looks like a beefy truck. This? Looks sorta like a fan-made concept. The new one is way out there. It's slowly growing on me but it's strange lol... It's definitely not a loved design. No clue if they did any sort of sample groups to see how the design would be received. I mean comments like yours are all over and they're always the highest upvoted. It's a really strange design. I have no clue what they're thinking. Glad I got my Colorado before they decide to completely change that too...

    If you are looking to "disable" the active fuel management system try shifting the truck in the your LOAD gear's, Use the +/- toggle on the shifter and select how many gears you would like the transmission to cycle through. This will not only solve your "problem" but it will also save the hundred of dollars you wasted on that plug in.

    The square tops on the fender wells are not a restriction on tire size. The reason your tires rub is because of the rim off set you are running. I run 33x12.5-22 Toyo Open country MT on factory rims on my 2018 with 2.5 leveling kit no rubbing at all. Love this body style . This year model is selling for as much or more than the new body style used with similar miles and condition.

It had two towing lights fixed to the trunk lid and a bungee chord holding the trunk closed. It literally caught fire while i was fueling at a gas station. I've a 2018 6.2. I never touch the back windows so that's not a problem. Stock 20" rims and tires, no problems. AFM... with my intake, exhaust upgrades, upgraded throttle body and added SuperChip, I'm pushing 500HP with noticeable improvement on the transmission shifting while getting 21.7 MPG on the freeway if I keep it under 80mph.. The chip made all the difference in the transmission shifting, it also eliminated the governor which was my biggest complaint. Awesome truck.

    30 years in Land Surveying Silverado’s have been the backbone of our fleet. Overall they have been fine.... they sit lower stock than the D and F. We like that because we work out of the side of canopies to access our equipment and goodies.
    When got the 2014 I loved the refresh. We kind of abused it letting it idle on the sides of roadways while surveying and I know the oil changes were not done religiously by that crew. So that one ended up having issues with the torque converter and it shifted from 8 to 4 with a thud. That one is now gone.
    We got two 2017 ‘s with the new look front end and the LED lighting and they have been good.
    We got a 2019 Trailboss that I drive for my crew truck and so far she has been good.... tailgate has no handle, and is thin! Looks like a Tundra but we get lots of compliments from contractors, Customs Officers, kids lol
    We just got a 2021 Trailboss, just like my 2019.... look like twins except the new one has buckets, console, and heated seats..... too new to comment on.
    My personal rig is a stock 2015 Silverado Z71 LTZ and I absolute fucking love it! I have had a couple minor recalls that were computer related and and exhaust gasket leak underneath the cab that made a whistle on acceleration. Mine is black and the paint scratches easily so I have my own mitt for washing and never use a car wash scrubber on it. I only have 46k on mine and zero issues so far... it is always garaged unless out on camping and fishing trips. I tow small lake boats and custom fly fishing boats on top with 3 Yakima racks. Dented my roof with the cab rack.. too much muscle lol so be careful! I camp out of mine like a camper.... coolers, fishing gear, tents, pop ups, rods, tools, trolling batteries and motors, water jugs, gas cans.... etc lots of room for me. I have a Snugtop Aero Canopy on it... looks like a Tahoe lol!
    Cheers

So when he parked ,he started to put up the back windows. I still had my head sticking out. So I was being choked. People in the parking lot ran to tell my pops you killing your kid you asshole. Nice truck. Just wanted to mention that the lack of auto roll up on the passenger and rear windows is a safety feature. Yes, they could easily put it in, but they chose not to, because if your kid of passenger has their hands or arm out the window and you hit the roll up, it will close on them. I’m pretty sure that’s why they put it in, so people don’t go auto-rolling up the windows on the kid with their hand out the window in the back seat.

    Very minor complaint, but the door handles inside the truck feel like the cheapest, hollow, piece of PLASTIC you could find to use. Because they are... I don't understand why they would put a 5 cent part in such a fabulous truck?? I feel like it would be very easy to snap off, and I am reminded of this every time I get out of my new truck.

    Check your window seals, my truck has a thousand miles on it and rain leaks in like a sieve. I have read that this is normal that is why they have the drain holes in the bottom of the doors. I think that is an unacceptable point of view. 2018 Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed. I have also found the paint job on the inside of the door jams to be inferior, big paint bubbles. I love my truck but I find that there are several quality issues. Maybe that is why you can get a brand new 18 Silverado crew cab all star with a 14,000 dollar discount off of Msrp.

    Regarding the cylinder deactivation:
    If you left your tire size stock, you wouldn't have any issues. By upsizing the tire and wheel diameter, you changed the final gear ratio. To correct that, you would need to change your ring and pinion gear out in your differential to comepensate for your lift and oversized tires. You're losing power during the deactivation because your truck is not in the torque band anymore.

    • @lmfscrew
      @lmfscrew  6 лет назад

    • @ryanchristians2924

      Well then how are you going to complain about this issue? When you lift a truck you're supposed to change ring and pinion. So you did a half ass lift job and now you want to complain about a loss of power. I don't get it

    • @tomnikitas9831
      @tomnikitas9831 6 лет назад

      I doubt seriously that a 4-500 rpm drop from taller tires, (which is a huge change, probably more like 150 - 200) at speed will "drop you out of the torque band". They ain't that narrow. Yes, relatively speaking, it will be less responsive. After all, you are lowering the gearing numerically.
      For a great comparison in tire dia, go to Tire Rack, look up revolutions per mile w the stock tire and see what the diff is with the intended substitute. A little ratio and proportion math work will give a decent idea on what to expect.
      I checked my factory 275/55-20 against a 275/65-20 and iirc, it was maybe 3.5%. How responsive you need your ride to be is totally subjective. In the end....
      To each his own.

    The non auto windows are a ridiculous pain, I agree but the biggest complaint for me is the second spring loaded flap down the throat of the gas tank fill line. Even if you carry a spare gas tank, like I do... you can't put gas into your tank from a spare 5 gallon tank without a long spout funnel being used to pry open the second flapper valve located a few inches below the first one... Filling up at a pump is easy, but in the woods, you also need a funnel.

    I get the cylinder deactivation, its annoying but it gets better with miles. My 16 Denali has it and other than the green v4 light coming on you barely know it has switched to 4 cylinder mode. The window thing would be a convenience yes, but that's a safety feature. Having 4 kids I can live with rolling a window up instead of smashing their fingers or worse (used to you pushed down to roll a window up until a few kids killed themselves by rolling the windows up on their necks). As for fuel mileage, well big wheels dont help. But I've learned over the years that the way I drive effect my fuel mileage, I can get 14-15mpg or mid 18s to low 20 mpg. Granted I have a 6.2 now but all my previous trucks were z71s with the 5.3

    So I made the mistake of reading all the negative comments people have about their new Chevy trucks, and I feel the need to address these half-thought comments.
    AFM is GM's way of meeting the mandated CAFE standards. Blame the government for that.
    The laggy trans, throttle, AFM, etc can ALL be cured with a good tune...which brings me to my next point:
    It blows my mind that people are paying $200 for that OBD module. A good tune fixes ALL the above issues and costs around $350 from a reputable tuner.
    The way the windows go up is a safety design. Necessary in my book.
    I have a 2016 Silverado with over 66k miles. CAI, exhaust, tune, slightly larger Nitto Terra Grapplers. And almost zero paint chips, because I was smart enough to invest in Xpel when I bought it. Oh, and the only maintenance I've done is change the oil. Zero mechanical problems whatsoever.
    I'd much rather have my no-maintenance 66k mile truck than the mechanical nightmare of a Ford.

    • @lmfscrew
      @lmfscrew  6 лет назад

      The range is untraceable. A aftermarket tune is not. If warranty is needed for something major like a engine or trans going out your tune will screw you at the wrong dealership. My truck drives just fine with the range. Rear windows is not a safety issue if applied properly, like ive explained to a million people. My mustangs windwos auto roll down when any resistance is met. Chevy could easily apply the same technology.

    • @realmofsound
      @realmofsound 6 лет назад

      I think Chevy just took the “better safe than sorry” approach with the windows, like many do. Saves them from potential malfunction and lawsuits.
      And as far as the warranty, look up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. There have been plenty of reputable tuners who have won suits using the BBB as a vessel to prove that their tune wasn’t a cause for a failed engine etc. Notice that I used the word reputable. Make sure they back up their product. I’ve had Blackbear Performance tune two of my trucks and it’s the best thing you can do for a Chevy. GM detunes these things so bad it’s unreal.

    I understand your dislikes .but I also am with you on loving it. I just bought one this past December. I had the Colorado previously and loved that but love this one 100 times more. Bigger engine more possibilities!

    I tow a 26 ft travel trail from coast to coast twice and have been so amazing while towing at 70 MPH to look down to see I was running on 4 cylinders and even more amazed how smoothly it transverses back to 8 cylinders. Unless I am watching the information center I can not feel or know how many cylinders are active while towing. My 2018 has 37000+ miles. I even seen 6 cylinders on on occasion.

    Yeah I turned off cylinder deactivation also. However, it did not make any sense to me to buy a plug in module that you have to leave in your OBD2 when you can spend about $100 more and get full blown tuner. Personally, I bought the Hypertech and have been very happy with it. Additionally, my OBD2 port is open which allows me to put my bluetooth OBD2 sensor module in so I can use the Torque app on my phone for real time information and diagnostics a well as fuel milage trip recording and a host of live gauges with information that does not exist on the factory dash guages. I have two phones one for that stuff and one free for navigation and phone calls! First world problem solved! By the way cylinder deactivation does not give you better gas mileage. I get 1.5-2 miles per gallon better on the regular gas tune with my 5.3ltr Chevy V-8 Silverado.

    The idea behind the windows not rolling up by themselves is to prevent accidentally rolling up the window if a kid or something is sticking out of the window. All vehicles must have this ever since a couple accidents with kids getting fractured necks back in the day lol

    My number one inconvenience about this truck it's the fact the only set of cup holders is on my console in the center so if I ever flip that console up I don't have cup holders they could have either put more cup holders or place them in a better place

    The reason the back windows don't go up automatically is for safety reasons, kids have been hurt or killed b/c the window could not be stopped. I have a 2016 and the r/f window is not express up for the same reason!

    I have the same truck but 2017, my biggest gripe is the constant downshifting. Drives me crazy. Amazing truck though!

    Well if you can’t afford the range technology. You can bypass the v4 drop by, when you go to drive off, you put it in manual then go to 5 or m5. Then it won’t drop. But you got to do it every time you go to drive.

    Still trying to understand how people think the top of the fenders being square affects the rubbing of negative offset wheels on the bottom. Get the appropriate lift for the wheels or stay with factory wheels and you won't have a problem

    Wait until your fuel injectors need replacement around 20,000. Wait until your simple pumps stop working around 35,000 miles. Watch your seals. They'll leak due to poor quality parts.GM sent notices to dealerships and yet did not recall them. Now I've got water stains on the head board. Banging in the transmission when placed in reverse. At least that's what happened to my 16 Silverado. Never again a GM vehicle.

      @@90kevin20 Sorry to hear you're experiencing my issues too. I bought the truck on the advice of friends of mine swearing by Chevy. One has had the computer replaced with less than 10,000 on his new truck. Not so terrific now are they.
      I'm likely going back to Ford when I can afford it.

      Sounds like I'll be holding onto my 2012 Silverado 1500 5.3 with 60k for as long as I can, until I can afford new one.

    Range got rid of AFM on my 17 High Country 6.2L. Also got 4 Bilstein 4600s under warranty didn't like the ride. If anyone has the 3/60 left get after service and they'll replace them with shocks of your choice at least mine did. Love my truck only issue I had was the 8 speed clunking warranty also fixed it with a relearn.

    The sound of pure American manliness. Though I hate Chevy makes no trucks in America. Corvette is basically all built in America. It is technically called Variable Valve Timing or used to be.

    Had a 2007 Z71 with 5.3 and AFM. Dead engine at 77k (likely one of the 4 "deactivated" lifters got stuck, but no way to know without opening Pandora's engine block). Replaced it with a 2017 2500HD 4x4 with 6.0 and NO AFM. Also 6.5' bed, 9+" ground clearance stock. A definite upgrade.

      Sick upgrade! I just got a 2017 GMC Sierra with the 5.3 but it's got ever other upgrade, 8-speed trans, sunroof, heated/cooled seat & steering wheel, etc. Love it! It's actually my 1st truck (I'm 22 and have only owned sports cars up to this point lol). Only thing I wish is it was a diesel or atleast the 6.2 just for a little more power, want to lift mine but trying not to do anything to void my warranty as its at 80k miles.
