GREAT video...nicely done. My last two GM trucks had the 5.3L. My new truck (2021 GMC Sierra AT4) has the 6.2L. BIG difference. It also has a CAI, Borla muffler (flapper delete), Pulsar LT, and stock wheels (with one size taller Bridgestone Revo 3 A/T tires). No added weight with the tires. I call my current AT4 "a Corvette with four wheel drive". I didn't buy it for fuel mileage, or being in the slow lane. 91 octane is good. 93 octane is hard to find here in Oklahoma...but, it is def better. @hamiltoncouple01 6 месяцев назад

Count your blessings you have the 6 speed. GM has a huge issue with 8 speed, very unreliable. Pay attention to shifting in your 6 speed. These transmissions have weak torque converters. They slowly come apart and metal filings will get into the solenoids causing occasional hard shift when slowing down. Once you notice that, immediately change out torque converter. You have roughly 6 months till transmission fails from that point if you don’t change out the converter. GM rebuilds are around $5000. 8 speed is even worst. More prone to failures.

It’s not apples to apples. If they both ran in the same fuel, then I’d talk. With the 5.3 truck it weighs just a hair over 5k pounds and has 355hp, that’s not weak like most of you guys are saying.

I've owned both. Had a 2014 ltz z71 that I got before the 6.2 was available in that model. Was happy with it. Did a cat back exhaust and cai with tuner. Was a fun truck. I finally traded it in. Picked up a 2021 Sierra Denali with the 6.2. Drove straight from the lot to the exhaust shop. Had it for about 6 months and it's a huge difference in power. Cai coming soon and waiting for a good tuner. I'm sure it'll really come to life then. Go with the 6.2 if it's in the budget!

1st.....War Eagle! Second, I own both, both loaded Denali crew cabs. The 6.2 is not only way more fun, but tows and hauls better, and if you keep your foot out of it actually gets slightly better mileage on the same trip with all other things being equal.

I have 2018 6.2 with 200 000 miles on it now. Premium fuel for every mile. It is a pilot truck we run big loads only 24 feet or wider is our specialty it runs pedal to the floor no mercy from one wide spot to the next, all day. I smile just like you every time I floor it. My Dad refuses to run Premium in his he has had some sensor issues. But he says he will buy the 6.2 again. @@RobertoHernandez-cd9bs If you run 91 the 6.2 gets better millage than if you run 87. I'm not sure if that would translate to beating a 5.3 on 87, but if you're driving conservative it might. My 6.2 gets about 1.5mpg more on 91 and it is noticably more sluggish on 87.

The 6.2 with the max tow 3.73 rear end is just flat out amazing. If you leave the traction control on you literally will still get great times. Well, at least if the road is dry. The 5.3 is a strong motor as well but it just doesent compare. 100 hp will do that to you. Throw in an exhaust and a CAI and not only will you tow like a beast you will surprise the hell out of guys who think their civics and subarus are fast.
The 6.6 in the 2500 is stout "running that now" But with the extra weight of the 2500 its nowhere near as fast as the 6.2 in a 1500.
Bottom line Spend the money, get the 6.2. More power!!!! argh argh argh :D
