Can this cause any damage to the truck/engine/trans? Also do people keep it in performance mode all the time or do they switch it back and fourth from eco?
Its a give and take situation. You're applying more HP from the engine to the transmission which is a little more stress on both. However, the stock v4 mode has been known to create issues with the lifters sticking (which causes misfires) and swapping from v4 to v8 makes the transmission shift harder. You can swap between eco tunes and performance tunes as much as you like, but most people stick to one. Most people also modify their vehicles to lean toward one or the other, so swapping between tunes would be kinda pointless.

Great content as usual keep up the good work
Nice dude. Makes me inspired to tune my 2021 z71 when ready
you'll want to wait a long time... its about $2,000 to tune the new trucks
@@kick_then_shift Yea thats the plan. Its going to be 3 yrs before I do anything. Its a lease for now so if I do any mods they are going to be small ones.
@@kick_then_shift what he did in the video cost 2k?
@@dennydeckerful no a hand held tuner is about $500. But you're getting a generic base tune. If you're going to tune your vehicle take it to a shop that is able to tune the new GM vehicles. They will have to send your ecu off to be cracked and then they can tune it.
@@kick_then_shift ok thanks. And the tuning does away with the need for the range after as well?
i have a 2016 5.3 crewcab with some headers and tune thats all you have to do! to keep up with 5.0s mustang or even beat them 💪🏽
That's funny 🤣
I just bought a 15 crew cab. Already ordered an intake
@@Aksbug90 whats funny? and headers tune u should be set
@@arturogonzalez1483 not bad funny just funny a truck can keep up or beat a muscle car.
@@arturogonzalez1483 what are some good headers. Idk anything about v8 or trucks for that matter.
You can build rpm up if you turn traction control off on factory toon
What he said^
At least for my 2016 it does. That’s how I drag race at stoplights🤫
Chuck Kolancz only in Mexico right?
My stock ‘14 with traction control off, and manually shift it. I can lay down a strip for ever! Pretty easy to do burn outs!
YesSiRr!!😎💯🔥😆👍!! Nice brO!!
You got to do this to Larry as well the F150 and see how much of a drastic change it does because I have a 99 Tacoma with 200 and something thousand miles I’m questioning whether or not if I can do this. I also think you should get a pedal commander because I hear with those things paired up with a tune your truck feels really really responsive
Yeah I got the range coming for my 21 trail boss. With the warranty I figured that was best for me now.
The good ole fool with the TPS to make you think there's more power.
Lol
5 star tuned my 19 3.5 "eco"boost. Best $600 i ever spent.
did the MPG get any better? Doing my research before I get into it lol
@@devonmanska5721 no; I tuned it to make power, not MPG. A performance tune is never going to get better MPG. Maybe a performance towing tune, but to be honest ive never ran any of those because they are no fun.
Custom tune with pedal commander is where it's at in my opinion.
I made up my mind. This is the tune I’m going with.
I've got the 2017 6.2L. Waiting for the warranty to die out as well.
Enjoyed the video looking for a tuner for my 2019 trying to figure out which one to pick up the video helped. Man I miss the days were you could drive 100 miles for the fun of it and not spend a fortune at the pump 😂. RIP
Truck is sick!!! Awesome brotha!!
Loving the videos bud!!
Thanks for the video, where did you get the seat covers 😀
I just subscribed brother and I've been wanting to tune my 2016 chevy Silverado as well
Seeing those 0 to 60 times makes me really appreciate the L87 6.2. #DoIt4Dale
I legit just bought my range afm disabler
Range is a waste of money. I have one for sale for 09 if interested. Lol may as well run in tow mode, my truck would not run in tow with range.
Hey man,ik wat u mean by launching it,take traction control off and then hold it for about 7 seconds it will turn Stability control off,and now youll be able to rev while holding the brake and also do burnouts
Awesome reaction!! Great channel
Love the content 🤙
Niiice truck !!! You gave me a lot of ideas when doin my truck ....quick question .. did you have any problems with the power steering light coming on after lifting after a few months and if so what's the fix thanks!!!
Been running a Diablo Sprint on my 2014 since 30,000mi. Looking at tuning mine soon.
Which tune are you looking to use next? I also have a 2014, has never been tuned, warranty is out so now it's time!
@@superdave579 ended up trading my 14 in on a 2020 Trail Boss Custom before going with a tuner.
Looking to sell that range? I got a 17 5.3 silverado and I'm still riding the warranty.
I got a range if you’re interested
@@kemz3945 how much sir?
@@kemz3945 where are you located and how much are you asking?
I'm in NJ. Buying it online of someone random on RUclips feels a bit sketchy if I can't meet up with you. No offense
@@SweetStat no worries. I’m in Cali.
Blessed Diesel Performance tunes my 6.0 Powerstroke. Total night and day difference. Got rid of a ton of turbo lag also.
I have a 2000 Chevy 5.3 and it’s has a stage two gpi cam with long tube headers cats deleted and a cold air intake and it is getting tuned by gpi on January the 5
U make the best reviews for these trucks on RUclips thanks man !! U should of the 87 eco review next
New to tuning and honestly wouldn't have the first clue. I got the range finder but I would love to just tune it out and add better throttle response and drive quality when it comes to my 2016 5.3 6speed. If I go buy that tuner how or what do I ask for when sending it in to get tuned?
We need a link to where and what you bought. I’m ready to cash out on one! 😍
5startuning.com
Should have got a 6.2 it’s a day and nite difference to a 5.3 and being tuned it’s a Beast.
Niceeee video would you really recommend this and where did u get your seat covers from they look nice
I have a 2016 Silverado, did this back in the summer. was way worth the price. got the 87 eco, 87 tow, 93 perf, 93 tow. hav yet to try the 93 tunes. with the 87 tow tune, my truck pulls my travel trailer much better than stock
How hard was it for you to actually set up the tuner cause I see it does require more than just getting it in the mail and plugging it in
@@Johndada517 not bad, download the program on computer that will allow you to plug in the tuner to computer to get the stock tune from tuner, plug in the tuner to obd2 port follow the prompts on the tuner, pull the stock tune, download to computer, email the stock tune to 5 star tuning. Bout a week later you will get email with the tunes from 5star along with any other tunes that were purchased, load tunes into tuner via computer software, load tune into truck..Enjoy!
That seems like a lot but if I can do it I thinks anyone can. Follow the instructions that are included with tuner from 5star
You will be buying a new transmission in year don't half ass tune do heavy mods first then tunes will hold

My 17 is a stuck turd! Will be looking into this thing.
Nice . thanks for video
I have a flowmaster super 44 cat back and going to add a k&n cold air intake, this might convince me to get a tune on it after that.
How do you like the exhaust? I'm thinking of putting the Borla ATAK on mine...
If you want better gains lose the restricted choke master & don't bother with the hot open air intake of k&n get a s&b cai & straight through muffler borla dynomax magnaflow carven and a tune done with hptuners software at a performance shop
I would really like to talk with you more indepth about this tuner. I have a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado ltz z71 rocky ridge with upgraded tow package 6inch lift 35x12.50 r 20LT I have alot of questions
I'm new to your channel lovin' your videos man but can you please tell me where tf you live 😂😂 I've never seen green handles on the gas ANYWHERE. Green is always for diesel???
Dude gitt, a 2022 GMC at4,or At4X.thanks 4 ur vids n infos congrats on selling ur Trail boss. just Stick with 6.2 even if u go 2 GMC route. 🇺🇸
Just tuned my Ford Taurus sho with 5 star impressed with the 87 performance but the 91 they sent wouldn’t even let the car start and idle
Is this the same as the BDX tuner I’m not finding this model anymore online
So this tuner will not only add a little power but it will 100% remove the v4?
nice vid! question.. where did you get your seat covers ?
Where’d you get the seat covers from
Diablosport custom tune by DiabLew. Enjoy the throttle response the most. Mine still has the clunky 2nd gear downshift, but overall very pleased. 😊👍🏼
How many hp did your truck gained?.
@@LEGEND04131 - I’m not 100% sure because I haven’t had it on an actual dyno, but my guess would be somewhere between 25-35’ish, roughly. That’s for both torque and HP numbers.
@@mattomlinson8759 Thanks for replying, I'm looking for something that at least gives my pick up 60 hp but I'm not sure wich ones would do that.
@@LEGEND04131 - You’re welcome. Honestly, I could be wrong, but I don’t think you’re gonna’ get those kind of numbers from these handheld tuning devices. I’m not even sure you could get 60hp from a custom dyno tune (on pump gas & with a bone stock truck). Maybe with the addition of some bolt-ons (intake, exhaust, etc) and if you switched to E85, perhaps. Hope that helps!
@@mattomlinson8759 My truck doesn't feel like it has the power of a V8, my 2001 Sierra C3 was way faster with 320 HP, my Silverado has 355 HP but for some reason seems like those ponies are asleep.

turning the ridiculous v4 off so stays in full time v8 was worth it alone for me
