- In todays video we tune my 2018 silverado 5.3 6 speed with custom tunes from 5 star tuning using a SCT Rev-Rex programmer! Very easy and straight forward process and as you see in the video we see good results!
How to use programmer - • SCT REV-X pull stock f... Авто/Мото
im glad youre enjoying the tunes its nice having better drivability and also better fuel economy
You can also lower the Target coolant temps and it adds a couple ponies and makes towing and summer driving more fun. I had one for my L86 before I got headers. still use it as extra Gauges to see when I need more octane with my dyno tune. ENJOY IT!
just recently purchased a 2017 like urs, looking forward to getting more of it. thanks for the info bro
I agree with you! I tuned my truck using Edge Products and love it! 💯💯💯
That green gas pump handle tripped me out!
fr bro i was like why is this guy putting diesel inside his 5.3😂💀
Press and hold the traction control button till the light comes on on the cluster that says t/c off. You have to hold it for about 5 or more seconds and that will allow you to rev it up while holding the brakes. That’s what I did in my 17 Sierra.
You long press it to turn off the stabilitrak...which is not needed to rev with the brake pressed. You only have to turn off the traction control to do that.
Best tune silverado video I've seen thus far!! Now that being said, if you really wanna wake that bad boy up, get you a set of gears for those rear ends. Now those and all you've done will have you smiling from ear to ear. Great video bro!
I just got an 18 off lease. Unless the person that had it before me tuned it, I haven't experienced lag or sluggish driving. In fact, the two times I gave it 3/4 throttle it broke the tires loose and once with 1/4 turning. I haven't had a vehicle with this much power since my '79 C10 with a hot 350 and a 4 speed.
Great videos brother🤘🏽 Man this whole time I thought I F up my truck. Glad to have peace of mind knowing now that the hard downshift was “normal” 😅😅 my warranty just fished up. Definitely gonna tune mine now.
Damn I’m just seeing this I thought mine was broken. So it’s like a normal operation
Appreciate the grind 🔥
Alright... it's been 6 months, how about an update? Any CEL's? Still performing as it was new? Do you still recommend it?
Reminds me when I put a bully dog on my 5.7 Durango and it was definitely a good decision, these actually look cool too.
I am running the Diablo tune which is the 93 now in my 03' GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 5.3L with 6-inch Pro Comp Lift on 18-inch XD Series wheels with 35x12.50x18 Nittos. A little more data logging and I will be ready to purchase a custom Diablew program. I have taken gas milage from 12.5mpg to 18.5mpg just with canned tunes and basic tune up parts. Very satisfied so far and I have read nothing but good things about the Diablew tunes.
so which of the diablo tunes do you have? i’ve got an 04 chevy i’m wanting to tune and i dont really know on them.
Great content as usual keep up the good work
I got my 53 Tuned I see what you’re talking about Night and day great video bro
I tuned my 17 Sierra with trifecta. However since I only have the 4.3L V6 LV3, it's a canned tune. It will automatically adjust to fuel grade. I run 91 octane minimum. Have a Airaid intake, straight through high flow muffler, oil catch can. The tune makes a noticable difference. Main reason for tune was I went to 34" tires from the stock 31" and wanted to correct my speedo and offset some of the gearing loss. Definitely happy.
My AFM still works and I did see a minor improvement in fuel economy. Nothing spectacular, but not a loss at least.
I have a ram 1500 i just bought about 6 months ago. Never been one to fiddle with the engine in my vehicle but i had 2000’s chevys before this with some of the best engines ever made so needless to say i trusted them. Fast forward to my hemi and i love the power and torque it has and everything about it except i didnt trust it because of the MDS and so decided to tune it. Went with the diablosport i3 platinum with the canned tunes did the 87 tune to start. Gonna get 91 next fillup and retune it for that and see how it works. Huge difference already! Might tune every vehicle from now on
Currently rocking a range for my 14’ 5.3l. Made the downshifts and upshifts a lot smoother imo. Lost about 1mpg but I’d rather have that over the hard shifts. Added bonus no more drone with the v4 mode if my exhauost.
How’s it working out for you now?
@@DJDNATX It worked fine all the way up until I sold my truck. Only issue was before getting it inspected would have to unplug it, 100-200 miles before inspection or else it would dial the inspection.
@@blue.collar.man. did you do the tune that it came with it?
Price and those guys at 5 Star are some of the best.
On a factory setting if you press the traction control and keep holding it it turns off the traction control and then a little bit longer eventually you'll see it say stability track turned off at that point your vehicle has full throttle there's no hesitation you can hold the brake and just sit and spin the tires
I have a 2019 sierra limited 5.3, and I could almost swear it has an aftermarket tune, because that thing is way faster than my buddy's Silverado counterpart with the exact same motor and transmission. My 2019 sierra limited ( 2018 actual ) elevation is a f'ing beast! An absolute burnout machine!
Loving the videos bud!!
Great review.
On a side note, if you refuel at Circle K frequently, here's a little hack that you may enjoy.
Those annoying ads that play on the pump screen can be muted by pushing the 2nd from the top right hand black button on the screen panel.
At least it works at my local Circle K.
Add on gas pumps??? What kind of world do we live in 🤯🤯
@@danielmckenna7591
Now we have endure commercials even while we pump gas...🤪
Been binge watching videos like this - market for these trucks is absolutely insane right now so Ill be waiting at least 6 months before I think about buying one. This video has me making a mod list for a truck I dont own LOL. Good channel content and great video!
Im glad that I ain’t the only one 😂..I hope to buy one buy next month hopefully
Your looking at a trans in a year buddy
It's been about a year, did you end up buying? The market is still terriblem
2 years later you buy one yet
Awesome reaction!! Great channel
Niiice truck !!! You gave me a lot of ideas when doin my truck ....quick question .. did you have any problems with the power steering light coming on after lifting after a few months and if so what's the fix thanks!!!
Mines on a fbo on e85 tune 🤘🏽 tune itself just wakes it up a lot
Excited to try a tuner on my 2019 Silverado. Currently my tuned 2002 Ford F-150 is faster and more efficient than my 2019 Silverado stock
You got to do this to Larry as well the F150 and see how much of a drastic change it does because I have a 99 Tacoma with 200 and something thousand miles I’m questioning whether or not if I can do this. I also think you should get a pedal commander because I hear with those things paired up with a tune your truck feels really really responsive
New to tuning and honestly wouldn't have the first clue. I got the range finder but I would love to just tune it out and add better throttle response and drive quality when it comes to my 2016 5.3 6speed. If I go buy that tuner how or what do I ask for when sending it in to get tuned?
If you get headers it will give you from anywhere from 25-60 hp more, you’ll also need high temp plug wires, manifold gaskets, and bolts. And while you’re at it oil change
Nope, not even close to 25-60 hp. ruclips.net/video/SnG3KKqFSxY/видео.html. Data at 6:05
And a cold air intake will add another 30 right?
The oil change gives you another 15hp lol
@@shanesafford6808😂😂
Can’t wait to try it... Tired of the poor shifting issues.....
Enjoyed the video looking for a tuner for my 2019 trying to figure out which one to pick up the video helped. Man I miss the days were you could drive 100 miles for the fun of it and not spend a fortune at the pump 😂. RIP
Got a Range for my 11 Tahoe a month ago, really like it, feels like my 03 used to. I'm not hard on my engine, would actually freak if my rpms went to 5500. Lol. Nice video though, might tune it someday.
Great video! Thanks for sharing the details. It sounds like a Corvette when it shifts. I like that sound. What are the details of the exhaust system?
I've never had an issue with my tune on my truck when it comes to warranty. I've had a edge cts after buying my truck brand new and upgraded to a edge cts2 like over a year now and its still under warranty. Dealerships never complain since I would tune it back to stock if I ever had an issue or recall they would have to fix or whatever.
But have you had engine or trans warranties. That’s when they say something if they want to get out of repairs
@@lmfscrew i haven't honestly had issues with my engine or transmission to go through my warranty for repairs. I did ask when I first bought the cts if it affects my warranty and the dealership told me as long as you can set your truck back to stock where we can connect our computers to diagnose the problem, there's no problem.
Haven’t tuned my truck (‘03 5.3L 4L60e Z71) yet, but Carolina Auto Masters is the best! They tune boss’s racecars... I love my job😆🏁. My truck is running on a 3” suspension lift and 34” MT’s with a cold air intake and a single chamber muffler from oe midpipe to dual 4” dumped in front of the 10 bolt G80 rear.
...And I wouldn’t trade my muddy, rusty, problematic, absolutely clapped Chevrolet for all three of your trucks- Yee yee to the new year fuggins!🤠
I remember when I got my 17 5.3/6speed tune lol I couldn’t believe how much of a difference it really made. Torque management is a bitch.
Which one did you get?
I have an 18 5.3/6speed basically the same as yours. What tune did you end up going with.
I highly recommend a pedal commander. I have 2 buddies with them. One is a 6.2 Silverado. It is insane the difference they make at the touch of a pedal. And you can adjust at any second. Just look into it. Love you page you can make any truck nice I swear. I have a obs do I am crazy about the obs. I such the same lift everything. But keep it up
I had a PC in my 16 HD with a 6.0, it was great.
Niceeee video would you really recommend this and where did u get your seat covers from they look nice
Truck is sick!!! Awesome brotha!!
From one bama boy to another keep it up man. Love the content!

Let us know how long your stock transmission lasts if you do much hot rod'n around.
Would running the 87 performance tune be hard on the motor or would it be fine?
I just subscribed brother and I've been wanting to tune my 2016 chevy Silverado as well
when you tuned your 2018 Silverado, did you have to update / change your Transmission control Module to be tuned or can you just use it as is stock on the truck?
Nice dude. Makes me inspired to tune my 2021 z71 when ready
you'll want to wait a long time... its about $2,000 to tune the new trucks
@@kick_then_shift Yea thats the plan. Its going to be 3 yrs before I do anything. Its a lease for now so if I do any mods they are going to be small ones.
@@kick_then_shift what he did in the video cost 2k?
@@dennydeckerful no a hand held tuner is about $500. But you're getting a generic base tune. If you're going to tune your vehicle take it to a shop that is able to tune the new GM vehicles. They will have to send your ecu off to be cracked and then they can tune it.
@@kick_then_shift ok thanks. And the tuning does away with the need for the range after as well?
Love the content 🤙
I would really like to talk with you more indepth about this tuner. I have a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado ltz z71 rocky ridge with upgraded tow package 6inch lift 35x12.50 r 20LT I have alot of questions
YesSiRr!!😎💯🔥😆👍!! Nice brO!!
Does it stay in v8 mode all the time on the 87 performance I just ordered same kind off of 5star tuning
Im glad im not the only one getting firm down shifts with the range
Changed the whole characteristics of the the transmission with the range
Where do u buy one of the range tuners because I’m under warranty as of right now
@@blakesanders678 call range direct, or amazon has them
@@blakesanders678 I recommend buying directly from range because you’ll get the most updated model.
@@MrFlatbeder yes, very important
Range doesn’t work for my 2020 trail boss 6.2 liter v8 with a 10 speed transmission. Any suggestions where to go to eliminate the v4?
Thanks for the video, where did you get the seat covers 😀
Is this the same as the BDX tuner I’m not finding this model anymore online
So I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 4x4 z71 and it’s so annoying how it’s changed from v4 to v8 it almost feels like the engine is been abused or force too much it does have 38 thousand miles . What can I do to eliminate the v4?
What is your avg. trans temp after tuning?
And does the range effect miles per gallons and how much torque and horsepower does it add and can u really feel it ? Like a tune?
Yeah I got the range coming for my 21 trail boss. With the warranty I figured that was best for me now.
How do u keep ur steering wheel matte? Mine is super shinny now after 52k
Where’d you get the seat covers from
nice vid! question.. where did you get your seat covers ?
What is the size and offset of your wheels, also can you post the link for that tuner. Thanks
U make the best reviews for these trucks on RUclips thanks man !! U should of the 87 eco review next
I got the same truck where did u get urs from and is it worth it? Did you gain mpg? How long did it take to get?
Put in AWD mode and turn off traction control and stability trac for the best torque off the line
I've got the 2017 6.2L. Waiting for the warranty to die out as well.
Tune is a must have for these trucks.
Which one do you use? I’m thinkin bout gettin one soon
Where did you get your seat cover from I have satin steel metallic color on my 2021 GMC Sierra double cab please let me no Thanks
Hey hows the truck still running after almost 2 years of tuning it? Very interested in doing it to my 2014.
Hey, so the 87 performance gave better gas per miles? Wouldn’t the v4 save gas?
Can I run stock intake and stock exhaust with the 87 perf tune? Will it cause problems?
I got 14’ sierra i was wondering what and where did u get those black accents on ur fenders. Looking to get them because i removed myd flaps
i need to save fuel with the price is it still recommended for extra fuel millage
So I have a 2004 chevy tahoe with a 5.3 would you recommend this tuner or another flash tuner or just take the vehicle to a dyno tuner and get a personal tune? Which would be more cost effective for a daily is what im looking to figure out 😅
I run my truck on 89 is there a 89 performance tune or just 87 ??
So this tuner will not only add a little power but it will 100% remove the v4?
Whats the best tuner for my 2019 chevy 1500LD its the old body style
Question, not towards the tune but where did you get your seats done? Covers ?
Any issues with the 4l60E trans? Or have they improved in recent years? My 06 and 08 both act like they can barely handle the stock power. Only thing keeping me from tuning or adding bolt ons. Already been through one 60E rebuild after about 180K of dailyregular driving 🤦♂️
The trucks are 6L90s
So, what was your new 1/4 time?
What brand seat covers do you have if you don’t mind?
Where did you get that front bowtie emblem from?
What's up buddy um my stock 2001 gmc sierra 1500 I love it has 198k on it and I get between 15 in city to 19 miles per gallon on the highway which is very good for stock 2001 gmc sierra I love it and it was my dad truck but when he died from cancer in 2018 the truck was his so I'm keeping it in my family
My 2012 5.3 has a hard downshift as well. What causes that?
I wonder if my Silvy Red Line could be even more improved?
So from what I see in the video did your fuel mileage increase from the tune as well?
My truck is doing 12 mpg is that bad? It’s 2018 Z71 1500 what can I do to improve it?
Could you find a tuner for earl??
I have a 2000 Chevy 5.3 and it’s has a stage two gpi cam with long tube headers cats deleted and a cold air intake and it is getting tuned by gpi on January the 5
Where did you get the seat covers?
where did you buy the seat covers
Does this disable AFM/DOD with the preloaded tunes or did you contact a custom tune shop
I have a 2011 gmc sierra 1500 with the 5.3 with a 6in lift running 35s... I have a k&n cai, magnaflow cat back duals, pedal commander, and a diablo 3 platinum tuner running the 93 octane tune... I turned off afm, changed my shift points, and turned off the torque management... with these mods I'm running over 400hp
I would start with the cold air intake and exhaust and go from there...
Does it already have a flex fuel kit before you put the tune on ?
Great video. I just bought a 17 z71 with a full cat back borla exhaust and cold air intake. You made my decision easy on the tune thanks. Quick question what 3" leveling kit did you go with?
Any updates?
I had a motofab 3in level. Have to buy different control arms to fix the axle/ball joint angles. Also to get it aligned properly. Buy a real lift, you wont regret it.
Did you get traction control turned off as well?
What happened to the morimoto xb headlights? How did you like them? What kind of headlight bulb do you have in the stock headlights?
Wondering that myself
Driving stock 5.3’s I’ve always been shocked just how sleepy they feel, they sound great but stock are just slow, but I figured there was a whole lot more in them and yes there is!
Thought the hard downshift was an issue with only my truck lol
Mine too
Mine does it too and the drive shaft clunks when it does
I got the Range AFM disabler for my 2020 , no more clunking or shuddering and its $200.
@@EvanMerkes1 I’ll look into that
